Ususpecting hospice patients have no idea what is going to happen once they enroll in hospice. Hospice was created for patients who were in the end of life, actively dying and medication was to be administered to minimize pain. Today patients who can be treated for an illness and are not actively dying are enrolled and given a one size fits all drug cocktail eventhough they are often not in pain causing them to become comatose and die from starvation and dehydration - a horrrible way to die!
Hospice is a money making business whether it is for profit or a non profit facility. Medicare pays for the services and our loved ones pay with their life. It's unjust and inhumane.
Debbie Mulcahy, a Licensed Practical Nurse since will share how hospice staff attempted to pressure her into accepting her parents were dying and just let them go Fortunately she had the background to resist and save them and her Dad lived another 6 years! Sadly hospice cannot be trusted anymore and you need to know your rights and research.
She was a board member of the former Hospice Patient’s Alliance with Ron Panzer, Vicki Travis and myself. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the subject of hospice abuse!
