ABOUT THIS MESSAGE:
Today the season of Easter culminates with the celebration of the third major festival of the church year: Pentecost. On this day, God’s work of redemption stood complete. God had come down to become man at Christmas, he had accomplished salvation on the cross, he had ascended back to glory that the God-man would sit on heaven’s throne. Now on this festival of Pentecost, he pours out his Spirit to live in the hearts of his people and bestows gifts from the Spirit that we might take the message of salvation accomplished to a waiting world. By pouring out his Spirit, he founded the Church, empowering it with the Spirit and sending it out to gather the harvest of souls won by his Son, Jesus.
