Hi guys, and welcome to Find My Swiss School Plus. 

 ​We are excited to be launching our new podcast series as a chance for you to get to know who we are, and what we do. And welcome to our very first episode of Find My Swiss School Plus, your go-to for insight, stories, and expert advice on schooling in Switzerland, whether you're a parent or an educator or a student or just curious, you're in the right place.  

I'm Sandra, the co-founder of Find My Swiss School. And next to me I have Pascale, 

the other cofounder of Find My Swiss School. 

Actually, Sandra, it's fun. Do you remember where we first met? It was just a couple of meters from where we are now and where we had a coffee. I think it was about the longest coffee I've ever had. 

That's true. It was like three hours. It was like three hours. Yes. And we talked about schooling, educations, the need out there, our personal backgrounds and experience, and that was the start of Find My Swiss School educational consultancy.

That's very true. Who knew that our little coffee meeting down the road from here would turn into this moment today?

It's very, exciting. 

So Find My Swiss school officially launched, over two and a half years ago now. Mm-hmm.  We came out of the umbrella organization of Foundations for Learning. Pascale, maybe you wanna talk a little bit about that. 

Yes, actually, Foundations for Learning is a charity covering the needs for the English speaking community in terms of helping children and young adults with learning issues or neurodiversity. Specialist practitioners helping with every kind of need that is out there. 

Yeah, they're an amazing organization and Pascale is actually also the board chair of the organization, so she's deeply embedded, and very passionate about this kind of work. A little bit more about us, our mission at Find My Swiss School is to help you find the right school fit.

We help families navigate the Swiss education system, and we also provide expertise and have knowledge on private, international and boarding schools in Switzerland. So if you have any questions about any of those different types of school offers, we are here to help. We're also very proud to say that we're Switzerland's leading education consultancies.

Yes. Well, what we do is,  we do know the Swiss,  educational jungle, as we call it, the Swiss educational system, whether it's private or public, in detail, as you might have learned, Switzerland is, the specialist for federalism, that reflects also in the school system. So every Canton has, a little bit of different approach in terms of schooling, even though we have a national curriculum and that's sometimes quite overwhelming for families to navigate through.

We also believe there's no one size fits all when it comes to education. And what might be good for one family might not be the right fit for another.

That's why we offer personalized support backed by a deep knowledge of the Swiss system as well as knowledge of international curricula. I find the Swiss public school system fascinating, very permeable, and there's a great saying here in Switzerland that there are  no dead ends.

So why are we launching this podcast series today? 

Well, through our professional activities with Find My Swiss School, we have developed an  intensive network of specialists. We come across all sorts of questions, problems, interesting topics, and we would like to share whatever we acquired in terms of knowledge, we would like to make sure that you get an expert as well. And also to give access to the experts we talk to and have them in our podcast.

It's basically educational empowerment. We want to create a platform where real voices, students, parents, teachers, coaches can be heard where education isn't just about schools, but about growth, purpose and possibility, and community.

So what kind of things do we have in store for everyone?

Oh, we have a lot of topics ranging from explaining the school system, whether you choose public or private, learning deficits, how to best support, and what the school systems as such is providing and what kind of compensations are available.

Then last but not least, boarding schools become more and more popular. And  academic topics, like what's better in terms of curriculum, whether it's matura, or whether it's an IB or any other international diploma.

Mm-hmm. We are happy to talk about and share our knowledge.
