Welcome to the 10th episode of the Pivot of Ages.
My name is Bruce
The church was born on the day of Pentecost, the feast of Oath. New light shines in the heart of the people the church was born.
Isaiah 9:6 tells of the son that was born and who he is.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The prophet Malachi gave hope and warning to Israel. It was about the true light that was coming.
Mal 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Those that feared the name, meaning to know the power of it, and respect every aspect of the voice or word, who he is. In the name they would fear the Sun, or light or righteousness but in it, it brought healing to them. As we looked at the fourth day of creation we found that the sun was created, and that the sun was referenced to Jesus, who came on the 4000th year, fulfilling Malachi 4:2.
Isa 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Isa 9:3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
These verses before verse 9th gives the picture of the light coming, and Jesus came and completed it.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
In John we see the word and that God is creator, and light, and the light lighted men on the earth. We go down farther and see in verse 14.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The logos, the spirit, would walk this earth he became flesh. As God did complete his work on the earth, at Calvary, the resurrection and ascension into heaven, now the church began. This is seen in Acts. All of the book of Acts is about the establishment of the church. The church was established, then the epistles pointed back to their root in the book of Acts, the foundation in the Lord Jesus Messiah.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
The apostles would preach this message in Jerusalem, Judea and Sameria and unto the whole world.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
First it was in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. Then we find in Samaria.
Act 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
Act 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Act 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Act 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
We find the church started in Samiria. Now let’s see the next group of people.
Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
The gentiles received the same promise as the children of Israel.
Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Act 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
We find three different groups of people, Jewish, Samaritans, and gentiles, but all were grafted into the same root, there was no different in the foundation. Peter was told by Jesus to feed the lamb, sheep, and the sheep.
Joh 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
As we would read on you will find in verse 16 and verse 17 it will say sheep. The lambs were Israel and the sheep both Samaritans and gentiles. Jesus told Peter he would have the keys.
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Peter would be given the keys, an understand of the Messiah, Isaiah 9:6. This son is the flesh or tabernacle of God. Meaning, in the flesh of Jesus was the spirit of Jehovah.
Joh 3:33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
Joh 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
Joh 3:35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
In the flesh that man saw was the eternal spirit of truth. John 14:6
1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Peter understood the importance of fearing the name and not leaving it out of the foundation of the church. Peter now filled with the Holy Ghost brought forth the message of truth, the foundation of the church which is found in Acts 2:38. The gates of hell will not prevail against it.
The beginning church, hell/Satan would go after the followers of Jesus to stop them, but word of God stand sure.
Next episode we will continue looking at the first 40 years of the church to the fall of Jerusalem.
Thank you for listening and I invite you to more of the point of ages in Isaiah 9:6
