SPEAKER_01:Hey, Lash. Hey, what's up, best friends? I am so excited for this episode. Welcome back to Hey, Lash. Hey, it's me, T, the SD, and your Lash bestie. And listen, I'm so sorry I did not have an episode in March, but it's been cray cray. But it's April. April is here. And I know it's been a minute. This episode is going to catch you up on everything. Life has gotten real, business got busy, and God has been moving and making room. So grab your drink, get cozy, and let's catch up like we do. It's tea time. You know I got to spill the tea. And baby... it's hot this month okay so i gotta take you back from the beginning well from the top okay so you know we did our episode in uh december january and then february right after my birthday we did my birthday episode antonio and i and we actually celebrated antonio's birthday in march so give it up for my boo mr lashman standing okay so So right after my birthday, I got my dream email. I was officially accepted into the PLA trainer and training program. So I had applied at the beginning of February and right after my birthday, I found out I got in and I'm going to be a powered trainer by PLA, powered by PLA. So basically what's happening is I am going to be trained by PLA, like Ashley and Tress and Erin and Michelle. And the whole team, and it's been a lot of learning so far. Okay, so I cry real tears. It's been a learning experience for sure. And those are tears of excitement, don't get me wrong. I'm going back to the basics. I have access to all of the education that PLA has ever taught. And some of it I've already paid for. and some is new and I'm so excited. I'm learning so much. There's a community that I have that I can turn to if I have questions. They're just getting me ready to teach. Make sure I don't have any issues like talking and teaching people and I'm like so excited about the experience. But I'm gonna talk a little bit more about that a little later. But this opportunity is huge and I am locked in. Like PLA has my heart forever. um so after that i got an email in march and best friend you will not believe who reached out to me so paul from lash cast and the owners of lash con um hit me up and i was shook well i wasn't really shook because I'm in their clubhouse too, and that's been just another amazing experience. They discontinued it for a while because they made a big move to uh moved to reno with will sparks uh to work with tad the pla sister company but uh yeah back to this so asked me if i would join in on their telethon that they had on instagram live to promote their lashcon ticket sales and so i got to i watched the whole day like i literally took off i didn't take any clients that day I sat in my space and I just enjoyed the moment with everybody until it was my time. And then once I got on, we talked for a little bit. And then I did this huge giveaway where I gave away a free learning course through me. And it's going to be awesome because I'm in training to become the most amazing trainer ever. And then I sent a care package. So the winner was this girl who was on the live. Super sweet girl. And she won the package. And so I'm going to be sending her a goodie bag. It's worth$350, actually a little bit more than that. I went a little crazy. But yeah, she's going to be getting a package from me and a training from me. So once I start taking courses, which hopefully is going to be around August or so, I'm still getting comfortable. I've already taught a couple of classes, but I am excited about teaching this. teaching like through the PLA power trainer way and adapting that. Also keeping my own spin on it as well. So this was like a full circle moment. So don't ever doubt your impact because best friend people are watching you grow. And I'm one of those people. I want to watch you grow. So make sure that you're following me so I can follow you back and be all up in your business because I love it. Okay, so then we, let's like rewind, no not rewind, let's fast forward a little bit into April some more, like deeper into April. So February was PLA, March was LashCast, LashCon, and then April, this month, was my Lash Apothecary Light Curing Training Course. It was amazing. I had a blast. Traveling was cool. I always fly with Southwest and they just irritated me because they're changing their policy starting in May where you don't get your two checked bags for free. You don't get all your bags for free. You got to like pick your seat now and pay more. It was horrible. Well, it's not horrible yet, but it will be because they're just going to be like everybody else. And that's what made them special. That's what made A lot of us gravitate towards them because of their seating, but I'm not going to rant on that right now. I will get back to the last prop theory. So the flight was not included, so I had to pay for my own flight, but the hotel, breakfast, and lunch was on them. And when I tell you that took so much of the weight of paying for all of that, even though they're write-offs, yeah, for the business, but the less money you have to spend, the better, right? So yeah, the hotel came with it, with the course, and there was two other students, one girl who had been lashing for a year and one girl who had never lashed before, and then me, who has been lashing for five years. So there was like a huge gap in between all of us, and I feel like the course touched on everything because it was a master class i felt like the information and the education that they gave was definitely worth it and then mr apothecary mr lash apothecary he is i love him he's such a cool guy his name's curtis and He's the one that you talk to when you are signing up for class and have questions about your opal machine and everything. He does all of that. And he's really the math scientist behind all of it. And it's so cool. But he gifted... the opal system to me as a special gift I'm going to tell you about in a second but the class was super informative and I feel like it was a really good refresher for me and also a good learning experience on the technology of the opal system and just light curing UV LED light information like as a lash artist and a business woman it made me feel like I was going to that next level of understanding on the machine and on the process and on everything. So now to the juicy, juicy. So what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? No. Me and Antonio eloped while we were there. Yes, yes, yes. I said it. We said I do in Vegas. Just the two of us got in it was a moment it was private it was intentional and it was so so so so perfect and your girl is officially a wife so address me as mrs lash man standing that sounds crazy because i don't want to be referred to as a man but for my boo best friend i married my best friend i'm so excited and we got matching tattoos on our ring finger so we didn't do rings so once i started showing videos you'll be able to see that and then we hired a photographer and i love the pictures i haven't got the video yet but it was definitely an experience for the books maybe i'll do an episode on like the whole details of that or like a youtube blog or something because it was It's so amazing not to share. I have a little snippet on my TikTok. If you go to b.flybeauty on TikTok, you can see a little snippet of our experience in Vegas. From the trainer and training, to Lash Cry, to the Lash Apothecary course, to saying I do, these past two months have been everything I prayed for and more. It's been busy. I'm so sorry that I neglected you, but I'm back and I am going to be consistent. I'm so sorry for the break, the month break. But that's all for tea time right now. I feel like that was all my business that I got going on this year right now, just spread out on a platter. So tell me what you got going on, Betsy. I want to hear everything you have going on in law. let's jump into mail time you've got mail lash mail okay so i'm sorry my nose sounds a little congested today it is spring spring is here spring is here it's the best time of the year okay ignore my singing but um yeah so i got allergies real bad and our clients are going to start to have allergies and I'm kind of actually going off script right now because I definitely want to talk about allergies instead. Oh, you got mail. Okay, we're not going to do that. We're going to just answer it. I see this a lot from lash artists who are feeling uninspired and they don't know what their next steps are or how to get out of that funk. And let me tell you, I have been there. The funk is real. The burnout is real. The feeling uninspired is real. And so sometimes you might ask yourself, how do you get re-inspired when you're feeling burnt out or disconnected from your business? And sometimes books are slow, life gets heavy and you start questioning if you're still on the right path. Here's what I do. I go back to my why. If you don't know what your why is, it's kind of like a little mission statement, but it's not actually a mission statement. It's like your personal mission statement for your business. Your why is why you get up in the morning, why this job is so important to you, why you're here, why are you doing what you're doing. And sometimes it takes taking a step back to think about your why to really, really, really look at your future and help you to stay motivated so my why is my kids my why is my husband my why every time i say that i gotta pause for a second my why is my business my why is my clients um the way that they feel so my personal why is to educate inspire love and care for and make connections for anyone I come in contact with. That's just overall, but I also apply that to my business. You can have a personal why and you can have a business why. If you're feeling burnt out, I would say to look at both of those whys to start to refuel yourself. That's your homework. Write down your whys, figure them out because it's going to help you pull yourself out of the trenches when you're in there. uh think about the girl who started the business in her home full of dreams and determined like you didn't just wake up one day and just like oh i'm gonna lash like a robot something happened maybe or i've heard so many different stories on how people got into lashing you all have your story but you started out as this little seed like we talked about before and you're blossoming and sometimes it's still pretty dark before you start to like sprout out of the ground so just go back to when you started off as that seed so excited and sucking up the water remember that because that's where you can refuel that's where that fire is and if you're burning out you need that fire to reignite so just remember that as you're going through it maybe write down a list of how you felt um just close your eyes and meditate and think about those times and look at how far you've come yeah your books are slow but you've experienced full book you've experienced loyal clients you still have loyal clients because your books aren't dead they're just slow right now and that's okay because life is happening everybody's got something going on but reach into that determination and the way that you felt when you first started Remind yourself that what you're building isn't just about lashes. I remind myself that a lot because what I do is about touching and connecting and empowering and uplifting people. And I feel like that's what God put me on the earth to do. So is it within your ministry to... touch lives you're changing people's appearances to make them feel more comfortable and confident in themselves and that's an amazing feeling within itself so just pause for a moment and sit in what you're doing it's not just lashes and people who tell you that it is just lashes they don't get it because they don't do what you do so just remember that it's okay to reset it's okay to rest Sometimes you don't need to quit. Sometimes you need to just chill for a sec. You can also look at like if you are, maybe you're burnt out and you're overwhelmed, but books are busy. Like you're booked to the max. You can't. Maybe it's time to start thinking about price increases. Maybe it's time to start thinking about scheduling time in your day to make sure that you have like breaks and you have days off. It's so easy to forget about yourself and what your body needs. because you're always fueling into other people. A couple of years ago, I had decided I was just in this selfish phase, which didn't really go well because I'm not really a selfish person. But I had this selfish phase where I was like, I'm going to focus on me. Me, me, me, me, me. Me needs to go to the spa. I need to take care of my skin. I need to get my lashes done. In that moment of me feeling that, I had to take a step back and say, yes, I can still love me, but I also have to still stand by my wife. So just change your environment. Maybe let's rest for a minute, take a couple days off, come back refreshed, go to some lash events. I noticed that after I came back from LashCon, I was ready to go. I was ready to live. I was ready to do the things I needed to do. Change your environment. Be around like-minded people. Redecorate your space. Do some spring cleaning. Go through your inventory. I know it's not extremely fun, but you can find a fun way to do your inventory and clean your space and maybe get in those cracks and corners and refresh your LashCon. cart go buy some cute lash tiles like invest in some new tweezers give yourself different things to look at that are exciting to the eye because we're always looking at lashes all day if you have like this a blank little lash tray it's super basic and ugly and it's like This is so boring. Let's get some cute lash trays just to make it exciting. At first, I didn't understand why people bought different cute colored tweezers and why they bought these different shaped lash towels and stuff. I'm like, look, it gets the job done. My little cute white towel or my cute little glass acrylic towel or whatever. No. Invest in the cute things. It's fun. Get some stickers. Have fun. Live your most childish but profound update your services add new services in when you feel like you want to try something new for a minute like try PLA's wax and offer brow waxes like that's something so simple or upper lips like we're all in people's faces and we see when the peach fuzz starts to grow in and maybe we can say hey I'm offering a free facial wax service and just add it on for their next appointment and say hey would you like that like it includes brows or like just let them point out wherever they want don't be like girl you got a mustache let me wax it because some people are insecure about it look I wax mine and sometimes I wait a couple of months and I shouldn't I should do that every four weeks because I have PCOS and it gets thick And I'm comfortable with that. But some people are self-conscious about it. If you point it out to them, then it's like, oh, dang, she like judging. And it's like, it's not that. You're just trying to generate some more income. So just say a free facial wax. Just say what it includes. And maybe if you do the same thing, say, hey, I do this every so-and-so week. You should try it. Or here's a free service. And then maybe once they get it the one time, see how awesome it is. They'll add that. I don't want, and that's another generation of income. But yeah, start offering different services to just change it up and book a training. Refuel your creative cup, whether it's through me, whether it's through PLA or Lashbox LA, join the ALA. They have different meetings that they have every week pretty much where they're going over different things that you can upgrade in your business and refresh and connect with people who are like-minded. A lot of us, we sit in a room and it's so boring sometimes and lonely. And that can also be a part of it where it's like, off this dull moment I funny story well not really funny story but like a quick little tad bit I got these PLA pajamas and I When I worked for the chiropractor, we would have these theme days or patient appreciation week or month, and we would get to dress in costume, full-blown costume. But it was a team of us, so it made sense. And I missed that so much, so I decided to put on my PLA pajamas and be like, hey, it's pajama day. But I kind of just looked crazy because it's like... girl did you just come to work in pajamas you're the only one here so i had to like stay in character and i'm like oh my gosh girl you're gonna nap and it's gonna be so relaxing i got all my pjs for napping for me it's self-care like we're here we're living so it's kind of fun it's a little awkward because it's just me but you know do what you do to keep your energy up and high and ready to serve your clients because at the end of the day That's all that matters. As long as you give this bomb experience and your clients understand you, that's all that matters. But yeah, so be you first, boo-boo. It's okay to love on yourself, and it's okay to love on your business and change a little. It's spring cleaning. Let's spring clean it up. Let's get into this month's Lash Talk. Lash Talk, Lash
SPEAKER_02:Talk, Lash Talk about it.
SPEAKER_01:PLA has been cutting up the new Limitless lashes by PLA. Mine just came the other day, and let me say, they are beautiful, fluffy, soft, and honestly, a lash artist's dream. Because I feel like the products that they have already, the products that they had already was bomb, anyway. But the technology that they have, I've been switching over to using smaller lashes diameters and smaller lengths a lot more because I feel like natural health is just everything and when i'm a pro at lashing baby lashes and i'm always going to use a super super duper tiny tiny six five millimeter little tiny lash and it like takes your retention to the next level but these are beautiful it's gonna give you the darker denser black look but without the heaviness of it And a lot of people, when using other products, tend to just pile lashes, tons of lashes on to get that dark look. And this is on it. These lashes are amazing. And the new tweezers that they have, I am probably going to switch my whole tweezer collection to those. I mean, I probably will still use my P6 every once in a while because she just has my heart. But These lashes are amazing. The tweezers are amazing. They are worth it. PLA also has a podcast. That's best friend. You heard me. Okay, and I want to be real raw with you right now because this is exciting, but it also made me sad for a second because it's like, come on. Like, I just got into the podcast industry and, like, It's hard to get listeners. If you're just starting out and you're just building up your base and everything, it's hard. And I appreciate my listeners that I have and to go on to their podcasts and see like Oh, they have so many more. It kind of made me sad. Like, I've been waiting to do video because I'm trying to get my studio together and, like, build a place for us to call our Hey Lash Hey home. And, you know, like, I don't have money. Like, I'm not a billionaire or a millionaire or a trillionaire. So it's, like, it's a little frustrating seeing how they have their cute studio and everything. i guess you could say that's a little indie but i'm also like still super excited like i've listened to all of the episodes so far and it's really good information and it's like the realness and the back of backstage past what they call it it's like really the behind the scenes of everything and i am excited because i feel like it's awesome to see like how you could think of something and if you have the resources just literally put it together and do it like It's exciting. So I'm excited to see what they have coming like on the episodes and their YouTube series is really cool. It's like a deep dive into education and they're starting from like literally the basics and it's supposed to cover like throughout the whole year. But they're dropping gems. They're talking like real business and expressing their stories and it's a perfect thing that I feel like is, it's pretty cool to see the big companies like show behind the scenes of what's going on and they've always been pretty much behind the scenes because they had a huge social media presence present for a while yeah you're going to be sad for a second because it's like dang i got another big whale i have to compete against but also love at the same time but i went about that all wrong like i'm human i have feelings you know it's neither here nor there because there's enough ears for everybody there is enough lashes for everybody that's why i don't look at any lash artists competition because At the end of the day, we're all growing and helping grow the lash industry. And that's the fact. I just wish that I had more money so I could build my studio. It's going to come though, because God has plans for me and what I be. Yeah. Okay. So what else do I want to talk about in lash talk? I already talked about the UV light training. I got to work with the LASH system for a full day. I didn't go over all of that. So the class was set up to where the first day was theory. We talked a lot about the system itself and how to measure, how to determine the safeties and all of that stuff. It was very informational. I would recommend investing. They have an online course for like, I think$100 or$200, which is worth it if you want to get the information on like just how like is uv safe like there's so many people who are still like i don't know if this is safe i don't know if i want to use this on my clients like you guys are just um like just doing whatever in people's eyes and it's literally not the case there's so much research that has been done and they go over a lot of it with you And while I'm speaking on UV, the godmother and godfather of the lash industry, Paula Tusney from LashCast, they have a whole UV series on their research that they did on UV. They had engineers, they had optometrists, different manufacturers, and have personally used the UV system. So it's really, really good information. I would recommend checking out that podcast for sure. I think that's it for last talk for today like it was a lot it was PLA heavy and I know you guys probably get tired of me talking about PLA but I love them like I love everything about them and I can't help it like they're the company to be using for everything and when they miss which is very rare When they miss, they fix it quick. So yeah, be about that life. Join PLA or be a loser. I'm just kidding. All right, let's talk about what's been keeping me vibing through all the chaos and everything and all over the place right now. I love the 100. I've watched it 50 million times, 50, 11 million times, like Beyonce said. I kind of needed to take a break. I have been watching Bridgerton to get into the mindset of LashCon because LashCon's whole theme is like they have a Bridgerton day. I think it might be Sunday where I'm going to be vibing out and getting my costume together for that because I am the queen of cosplay. I will be because I've never done it before but I kill anything that I do. So let's try it, right? Okay, I'm being silly. So I've actually been watching Under the Dome. It's on Paramount+. And it's an older show. I heard about it when there was this page on Instagram that used to show like trailers, like little snippets of trailers. And they'll be like, watch this on Netflix or watch this on blah, blah, blah. And sometimes it wouldn't have the name. And you have to do all of this heavy research to figure out this amazing addictive clip that just came on. And it was one of those before that I did the research and I found it. I forgot about it. And I was sitting here the other day and I'm like, I want to... watch something different something that's like you know let's just do something different and weird and that's when antonio like told me that i'm a nerd he's like the show that you watch and the stuff that you watch you're a nerd and you do nerd stuff and i'm like in my head i'm like well nerds are cool some jokes on you and he's like i love nerds and i'm like cool so we're on the same wavelength on that that's why i married him but crazy your girl is married okay next track so i'm watching under the dome and it's this little uh little town which i'm familiar with because i'm from a little town and it's this little town and the people are living their lives and stuff and this like invisible dome like drops down on the city and they're like trapped in there like they the government blew a nuke bomb on it it did not blow up and they were like oh my gosh we're stuck in here it was people killing people like these people who are crazy in this dome and it's addictive it only has Three seasons though, plot twist, because you know my rule, I only do seven, seven seasons or more. And this one, I was just like, this has been in the tub in my back pocket for years. I think it came out in like 14, 2014, maybe 2018. I like to trip in 2018-ish. Around in those areas. So it's like an old show. but it was three seasons uh season one was amazing season two started to get a little bit more predictable at the end and i'm about to start season three probably by the end of this week so if you want to watch that if you're keeping up with all my binging i know i'm not consistent with like what shows i'm watching but I tend to jump around a lot. I'll watch maybe a season in a day or I'll start a season and maybe I'll watch it all the way through. Sometimes I take a break. So if you want to follow along with me, just let me know and I will definitely slow down or I'll be consistent and just watch one. But yeah, I feel like I like it. It keeps me on my toes. I haven't been able to guess a lot of what's going to happen next and it has me like, And everybody loves those good moments where they're like, oh. So, and just know, watch that Under the Dome on Paramount+. Not an ad, just check it out. What I've been listening to is Cowboy Carter. I started listening to it again because I've been thinking about going to the concert. Now my kids want to go to the concert too, which is another thing. Antonio thinks it's a horrible idea because he's like, they're not going to appreciate Beyonce like you do and, you know, the whole spiel. But when we're in the car and I turn on Cowboy Carter, I hear my babies in the back like singing the songs. like see sometimes they don't know the words they just be making up their own words but they have the melody and the tone and just everything else perfect where it's like they know what's going on so okay this is my idea that i have maybe i go on the thursday one by myself and enjoy the show itself or actually i go on thursday with the kids and enjoy it with them and then go back on the weekend because i think she had like three shows in Chicago, like, in that weekend. So maybe I'll go to, like, the Saturday show by myself and get some really good seats. And then, like, with the kids, get, like, some, like, nosebleeders, maybe, like, the$80 tickets and be like, look, we're here to see Beyonce. We're going to have fun. We're going to jam out. They'll see Doe up here, you know. Just in case they get bored, again, it's like, I didn't spend$300,$400,$500 per ticket, and they're ready to go, like, halfway through it. i probably spend like 300 for all of our tickets up in the nose bleeders and they want to leave cool we can leave it is getting late y'all probably sleepy but i don't think that they will i think that they will have a lot of fun and every track i love on the album is definitely black girl country powered and the world needs to understand that the album for me like is one of my go-to i'm like oh i wonder who's in the cowboy carter right now so i feel like i love it and it's one of it's the vibe so yeah the concert for kendrick lamar and scissor is they just launched like the other day and they just started the tour and i have to get tickets for that too definitely not taking the kids to that one because they don't even know or care about kendrick or sister but i think i want to uh me and antonio go and it's just gonna be like so much fun because you know it's kendrick and sister uh the people who didn't get the half time it wasn't meant for you so this show probably won't be meant for you either but so much This year, I feel like, is my live life year because I'm living life. Getting ready for my trip to Nice, France, which is going to be amazing. I'm going to have so much fun there. I'm going by myself, which is sad face, but it's okay. We're gonna have fun. But let's go ahead and close this episode in the way that we always do. We're gonna center and ground ourselves and give our all to God.
SPEAKER_03:The Prayer Corner, where faith and lashes meet.
SPEAKER_01:Okay, so today in our Prayer Corner, our scripture for the month is going to be Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plan. This is Proverbs 16 and 3. And what this means to me is you can have all the ideas in the world, and if you commit them to him in whatever you do, he's going to give you the guidance on what you need to do. So you're not just out here roaming blindly. He's going to say, okay, this is where your business is gonna start and next we're gonna take this step and then we're gonna do this and then I'm gonna send some people your way and then I'm gonna open this door and you're gonna do this next and sometimes he's like and now you're just gonna sit in this moment and that gives me so much peace knowing that yes I started this business but it's not even my business it's God's business And he's going to send in the soul that he wants and needs to touch and to send the message to through him. Because without him, nothing is possible. So if he establishes your plans, it will do nothing but prosper. It won't fail. This verse gives me so much peace in this month because he's made so much room for things I didn't even expect to be coming in so soon. Like, Yes, these are things that I prayed for. I prayed for a husband. I prayed to be connected to PLA. I prayed that my business would be flourishing. I prayed for open opportunities. And right now, God is like, he opened the door and I was so scared to dip my toe in and go through the door. And I did. And when I tell you God is amazing, he is so amazing. He's walking me through the blessings that I prayed for and I didn't know that they would come. And this is a reminder to me that as long as I keep committed to him and I take everything to him and I commit to him, he's going to align it. There's no hustle. There's no forcing it. He will establish everything. He will guide me. He will lead me through the darkness. I will close my eyes and say, God, just lead me. And I know that I'm going to be good. So I pray that you continue to grow your relationship with God. and commit to him and whatever you do and just know that he will establish that plan for you so again that's proverbs 16 3 and it's commit to the lord whatever you do and he will establish your plan if you want to talk about that some more email me and i will definitely love to talk to you about god because he He got us, period. All right, let's go ahead and pray. Dear God, thank you so much for this season of new beginnings. We give you everything, our goals, our plans, and every opportunity. Teach us to surrender control and walk in confidence, knowing that you've already gone before us. You've strengthened our hearts. You've sharpened our vision. and remind us that obedience brings blessings. Touch our businesses. Touch our families. Touch our clients. Touch everyone we come into contact with. God, help us with burnout. Help us to refuel. Help us to focus on us. God bless the Lash community and everyone within it, whether it's the naysayers or the believers. Just touch us all in these hard times that we are all going through, and we ask that you bless us. We know that we can do nothing without you, and we commit our lives and ourselves to you and you only. We thank you for everything that you do, and I know I say that all the time. It is true. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, Lash Besties. That is a wrap for this month's podcast of Hey Lash Hey. From training to telethons to I do. Because your girl is married now. Remember that April is about growth. Growth doesn't always look perfect. It looks like obedience, faith, and showing up when life gets loud. Keep growing, commit to God, and until next time, see you later because your girl is married. Bye.
