March is here and it’s time for a reset.

In this episode of Hey Lash Hey, T is stepping into spring with a fresh mindset and a little bit of reflection after a wild February. From getting sick with the family to going full detective mode trying to solve a million dollar puzzle, life forced a pause and created space to rethink a few things.

This episode is all about clearing out what no longer serves you. In your business, your systems, and even your spirit.

We’re talking about sanitation standards, creating structure with SOAP notes, navigating the lash industry, and why sometimes the biggest growth comes from slowing down and realigning your focus.

You’ll also hear some thoughts on UV systems, upcoming lash events, and the importance of being intentional about where you put your energy this year.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stretched thin, or like your business needs a reset, this conversation is your reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is clean house and protect your energy.

Clean tools. Clean systems. Clean energy.

Press play, bestie.

Hey, hey, hey. It's me, T the ST, and you're lash besti. And welcome back to yet another episode of Hey Lash Hey. How are you, besties? I hope that you are doing amazing. And welcome to March. It is starting to feel like spring. We're gonna do a deep clean, a spring cleaning. We're gonna start off fresh. A lot of people think that January is when the year starts, but spring is really when the year is rebirthing itself and re and cleansing, and it's like opening up a window and letting fresh air in. It's starting to get warm. The leaves are about to start coming out here in Michigan, and I'm so excited. But first, let's get into tea time. So go ahead and grab your drink, get comfortable, and let's catch up. It's tea time. So February was wild, and me and my family got sick, like super sick. Coughing, snotting, throwing up everything that you can think of. We had to deal with it. And it was so stressful. That's why you didn't see me on social media or anything. I just literally did not have the energy. And the energy that I did have had to go towards making sure that my kids were okay. I was okay, my husband was okay, and a chance at a million dollars. Yeah, you heard me. I took February off so that I could focus on my family, but also try to win a million dollars by solving a million-dollar puzzle. During the Super Bowl, I was locked in because I was waiting for Beyonce to release her album like she did two years ago, right after the Super Bowl. That obviously didn't happen, and I don't know why I thought that that would happen because she doesn't do anything twice, so duh. But I watched a halftime performance and I was locked in throughout the entire game until the fourth quarter when a commercial came on and Mr. Beast showed up on the screen. Whenever you see Mr. Beast, you need to pause, you need to listen to what he says because sometimes there is money, and most of the time there's money involved when you see his face. So I was like, oh my god, Mr. Beast. So I'm like locked into this commercial. And he was like, in this commercial, I hid a code for a million dollars. The first person who selects me the code will win the million dollars. And that's it. There's no rules, no nothing. And then there was a QR scan code at the end. At the beginning of the commercial, I'm like, oh my gosh, let me grab my phone. I'm gonna probably have to do something. And as soon as he was like, There's hidden codes in this commercial, I drop my phone down, I zone into the TV. My eyes are glued. I'm not blinking, nothing. It's a million dollars on the line, you know. So I'm not blinking or anything. And I'm like, oh my God, um, I need to find these codes. I'm like, whoa, what does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? Like within like a couple of seconds. Like, I'm not gonna retain all of that. My brain wasn't like registering it. So by the end, the QR code went up, went away. I'm like scrambling for my phone, and I'm like, oh my God. So Antonio turn tunes back into the game because he's like, I don't care. And I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm about to be a millionaire. I need to win this puzzle. Like, I need to find this QR code. So I go online and I'm trying to find the QR code. Nobody's posted it yet. The video's not posted from the Super Bowl commercial. I'm looking at a website that live updates the Super Bowl commercial so you can like re-watch them if you like had a favorite Super Bowl commercial. Couldn't find it. Took me like 20 minutes. I'm like, oh my gosh, somebody probably already sent them the code. I'm a loser. I'm not gonna win this million dollars. So I finally find the QR code and it takes me to the website. And they're basically just like, hey, welcome to the website. Yes, this is a million-dollar puzzle. And if you win, you're gonna win a million dollars. The first person who sends the code is the winner, and we're not gonna give you any rules, we're not gonna give you any directions, we'll give you one hint every day. After that, I was like, Oh yeah, it's time. It's time to activate detective mode. So I went downstairs, rearranged my living room, and I started to create this detective wall for every single clue that I find. I slow mode the commercial and went through and did screenshots of every single thing. And this Super Bowl commercial was like intense. I'm gonna put a link in the description so that you can see how intense this Super Bowl commercial was. There were so many hints. Then on the paid, the website, there was a behind the scenes where there was like three other videos that he had done before the Super Bowl commercial. So if you're Mr. Beast Super fan, you already knew that this was coming because he was dropping hints about it. I watch Mr. Beast, but not like regularly. And if you don't know who Mr. Beast is, look him up on YouTube. He is a person who goes around and tries to help. He goes to different countries and gives money and builds and does like a whole bunch of different stuff to like really help communities grow and build. And it's super awesome. But yeah, he has games and challenges where people like everyday people like me and you can go on there, go on his shows or go on his YouTube channel and win money. Sometimes he just walks around like, hey, if you follow me, I'll give you a million dollars. Like it's crazy. Where does he get all this money from? I don't know. Can I have a piece, please? But okay, so back to this puzzle. So mind you, I mean my family are sick, like sick, sick. At that point, I was like, I need to invest more of my time in the million-dollar puzzle than lashing because lashing is forever. It's my career. I have the freedom to adjust my schedule where I need to. And this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a million dollars, you know? So I was like, okay, I obviously need to focus on my family, getting them healthy and everything. But the rest of the energy that I do have is going towards this puzzle. And this is my birthday week because my birthday's on the 14th, and this happened on like the Sunday before the 14th. So my birthday was on a Saturday, and Antonio had all of these plans for my birthday, and I'm like, cancel them. I'm staying in the house. Nobody will see me. I am winning this million dollars. I don't want to be bothered. You he brought me my food to my desk. The only thing I did, I got up, made sure the kids were good, gave them their medicine, made sure he was good, gave him his medicine, gave myself medicine, and then I'm back at it. So I'm like dissecting. And the first clue that I found was the million-dollar playlist. So if you go on the YouTube video, in the pinned comments, it said, if you're missing a playlist, use this one. And so I went to the playlist, ish, I mean, on the link, and then it took me to a playlist of like 12 videos. And in each video, you have to go to the pinned comments, and there was a link in the pinned comments, and it took you to a puzzle that you had to solve. There were so many different puzzles that you had to solve, and each puzzle had a word that you had to dissect to create a sentence or an instruction. When I completed all of the puzzles, it gave me the clue that every challenge leads towards a location name. So I was like, okay, I'm getting somewhere. Like I'm about to win. This million dollars is mine. So y'all can go ahead and stop right now. So um it turns out that um as I started to collect more clues, the pattern was that the location names were cities versus states versus countries. It was cities. We're looking for cities. And so as I'm looking for the cities, I'm putting them into the map, like creating like a route to see like if there's any patterns there. I wasn't seeing anything, and I knew that I needed more clues. We didn't know how many stages it was, we didn't know if the code was numeric or alpha alphabetized, however you say that, or the fair, whether it used words or I mean letters or numbers, and it turns out that it actually used both. But yeah, like there were so many different clues and so many things that you had to do, like on social media, and this was a great marketing strategy, like beyond what my mind even thought, how you could market yourself and get brand recognition and different things. Because one of the things he did was he sent gifts to influencers and people who were on some of his previous games and companies and talk shows and stuff. And they their gifts had codes within them. So he sent this girl a these two sisters, a chess set, like chess, the game that you play. And he said that there was a specific game back when that's Napoleon or somebody lost, and to replay that game and decipher the code. And when you deciphered the code, it was like Buffalo or something. Buffalo is like a city and somewhere, and so yeah, it was like different things like that, where you really had to decipher what was going on and what clues were important and what weren't important. And so, in doing that, it really helped me to reflect on how my brain works and how organized I am. I was researching, I was analyzing, I was thinking outside the box because I wanted to win this million dollars. And after doing it, it helped me see some of the areas where I could use a little more organization and how my brain kind of gravitated towards one style versus another style. And it was like a crash course on how to things, and it was pretty cool. Even though I was tired, I honestly loved it. I didn't expect that I would like doing puzzles, but it was so much fun. We definitely need a lash puzzle in the lash world. I know a lot of us don't have the time to sit and go into detective mode, but it would be super cool if we could do a puzzle for the lash community. I think that would be so awesome. But yeah, yeah, it that started back whenever the Super Bowl was, like the week before Valentine's Day, and somebody just just, just, just, just, just solve the code like three days ago. It wasn't me. Obviously, if it was me, you would be looking at me right now. I would be in my brand new podcast studio. You would know that I won a million dollars. So it was okay. I had so much fun. My kids were excited about it because they actually watched Mr. Beast and they were like, oh my gosh, did Mr. Beast give another clue today, mommy? And I'm like, yeah, he did. And this is what I found. And I really wanted Antonio to take time and do the puzzle with me, like teamwork it. I feel like if I had a teammate, I probably could have gotten further, but he wasn't really into it. Like, I'm like, here, you do this research. I'm giving him like packets of papers and links and everything. Um I have QR codes next to the clues that I have so that he can go back and like double check them, make sure I'm not going down a rabbit hole or anything. And he was not. He tried, but it was not. It wasn't what I needed. I needed somebody on the level of crazy that I was on to get this done. But it's okay. I had so much fun, even though I didn't win. And it was definitely a good lesson to be learned on how marketing is because I followed all of the influencers that he sent gifts to just in case they gave other clues. And then I followed like the companies that he had partnered with. So that's free visibility for these people. So maybe try something like that in your area, whether it's lash related or not. Like maybe it'd be fun. But that's that was February for me. Because I have the freedom to adjust my schedule and I don't have to be in my salon all the time. I'm able to like take breaks for myself, which I planned on taking a break anyway. Uh, for my birthday, I like I was just like, you know what? February's kind of slow. Um, a lot of my clients are at three weeks, so I can kind of play around with my schedule a little bit more. Um, and most of my clients aren't new. Uh, a lot of my clients have been with me for a year. So if I can't get them in for like a month, they're okay. Like their lashes are fine. And yeah. So if you don't follow Mr. Beast, follow him because it you could win a million dollars next time. Then you can share it with me because I told you about it. I'm just kidding. You can have your money. I'm not gonna take it. But this guy named Colin won. So, Colin, if you're listening, call me. I feel like in the Discord group I've probably helped with some of your clue answers. And I'll take like 5,000. That's good enough for me. But if not, stay blessed, stay safe because a million dollars is a lot. I know you won't get the full million because of taxes and stuff, but that's a pretty big chunk of money. As far as teaching, I've been in a reflective place. Um, I've been evaluating how I want to show up this next year and not saying yes to every single thing that comes my way. I want to be more intentional and be more strategic and more aligned with what actually fits with me. I completely love PLA, so I'm gonna try to um be at everything PLA-wise. Um, but as far as some of the events, I'm honestly thinking about setting out most lash events this year and trying to grow over the noise. When you take the transition into being a trainer over a lash artist that's lashing full time, you tend to get a little bit more behind the scenes of things that are happening in the industry. I've always been super observant, but I noticed so many different things. And I want to talk about this in another episode on like influencers and people who partner with companies and things like that. But I'm not gonna get into it right now because it's just gonna open up a can of worms and I'm just gonna go completely off topic. And I have an outline here that I want to follow, so I'm gonna stick with it. This is my ADHD, and this is my little voice in my head trying to train my ADHD. Like, calm down. You're trying to go over there, and we have complete direction on where we're going. But if God tells me to go in another direction, I'm gonna listen. I'd be like, shut up, little voice. Jesus told me to do this. Sometimes I get distracted, but that's okay. So I am probably not going to LashCon this year. Antonio wants to go. He is like, he loves LashCon. He's like, this is our every year thing. And last year was fun, but I feel like everything's just getting so expensive. Like, so expensive. And I'm trying to build a house. So yeah, that's where I'm at with it. I'm still like on the fence about Lash Boss Summit because I want to do lash battle, and I also want to take the lash apothecary opal free course because I'm just interested in seeing the science behind it and having a cleaner product that maybe I can use on my clients. And I know I'm a huge advocate for PLA, but I also use lash apothecary for my UV curing, my light curing. So it's okay to use different brands, and that's another episode because yeah, I'm not even gonna talk about it. Okay, so yeah, so this month is I'm focusing on zoning in on what events I want to go to. I wanted to go to the course, but I don't think that that's gonna happen this year. But next year, I'll probably do every other year for LashCon and every other year for a summit. Anytime that there is a PLA event at their headquarters, I'm definitely wanting to go to that. So I'm thinking about maybe going to that. And if I do Lash Boss Summit, I'm probably just gonna go for the lash battle and then come back home. Um, because I have clients and I'm gonna be teaching a course. So I have to pick training over networking, especially if I have students, you know, especially in a time like now, because people aren't wanting to spend a whole bunch of money, they're wanting to save their money, even though like it's tax time for people. I'm noticing a change. And I haven't changed my customer service or anything. I know some people are like, What if you if if you uh change your customer service and you let stuff get to your head and you're not consistent, you your the work changes, none of it's changed. I've been doing the same thing for five years, adding and growing within the five years, but overall changing in a good way to where I shouldn't be like dropping clients or slow or like not getting any students and stuff like that. So times are changing. So it's time to pivot just a little bit. I've always wanted to focus on making things affordable, even though it's less profitable for me. I'm about helping grow the lash industry. So yeah, that's where I am. The kids are finally healthy, we're all good. They missed like two weeks of school, which stresses the school out. Like I got a letter was like, hey, your kids miss like too many days. And I'm like, I'm not sending my kids to school when they're safe. That's one thing I will not do. And there are parents out there who will send their kids to school just to get them out of the house. And I would rather let my babies be home. The teachers can send the work home. I understand the work, I'll make sure that they got it, but I'm not gonna send them to school when they're sick. I refuse. And sometimes it's just riding out the sickness versus taking them to the doctor and spending all that money on like doctor bills and stuff. So yeah, kids are good, they're growing, they're learning, they're becoming their own little people. Like, I have a five-year-old and an eight-year-old, and he's about to be nine in October, and my five-year-old is gonna be six at the end of March, and I just can't take it. Watching them navigate through school just reminds me that we're always on some type of learning journey, and it makes me so excited that they are excited to learn and they love school, so it's amazing. Let's talk about a little lash industry tea. LashCon is having their lash a thon. They did it last year where they go live for like 12 hours and they give away a whole bunch of prizes and everything like that. And the tickets are gonna drop on that same day. I think it's uh March the 17th. Let me double check real quick because I don't want to give you the wrong information. I'm gonna go to Instagram. Please hold. Okay, so LashCon is gonna be September 11th through the 14th. I'll always go a day early and stay a day later just so that I'm like refreshed, ready to go. My first year I went on the Friday of LashCon. Horrible decision because I wanted to see California and stuff beforehand, and I was late to the party, missed all of the stuff. So make sure you go on like the 10th and then leave on the 15th because it's the 11th through the 14th, so you'll be good there. Their telethon, lash a thon thing is 12 hours, is gonna be on March 17th, and it says giveaways all day, speaker pop-ins, behind the scene moments, and educational reveals. So we'll see. I'm excited. I like the theme, pivot and thrive is kind of what I was just saying. Like, you're always like even in slow seasons, you might have to pivot. Um, you might have to adjust and change in a good way to help adjust to the times that we're in right now. But yeah, so check that out. That is on again March 17th. That's when the tickets go on sale. And last year, you only got to win a prize or a gift or whatever if you already had a ticket. And then they have the payment plans that you can do and everything. So check it out. If it's not in the budget for you this year, though, don't stress out about it. Like, really do not stress out about it. Listen to these podcasts, get on some Lash community groups and get active in the groups. Find your community. If you don't have one, you're a part of my community. You're listening to me. I want to keep you updated on everything. That I know it might be a little bit later than I because I have to like spread out the episodes and stuff. But yeah, just stay tuned. I'll try to keep you updated with everything. Lash Boss Summit and Lash Battle are in April. That is April 24th, I want to say. Please hold. I'm gonna check. Okay, so I don't know if this is scare tactic or not, but as of two days ago, which was the March the 7th, there were only 50 tickets left and not a lot of room blocks left, but it is in Austin, Texas, on April 24th through the 26th. And again, I always go to events a day early and leave a day later. So I would leave on the 23rd and then I mean come on the 23rd and then leave on the 27th. But yeah, that's up to you. I've never been to Lash Ball Summit. I've heard really good things about it. It's not as busy as LashCon, it's a little more intimate. So if you're like LashCon was just too much for me, this one is definitely more affordable. And and you still get like the same vibe of learning and being around like-minded people like yourself. There's also the lash battle that happens before Lash Boss Summit, and those are throughout the day. Let me go. I'll break it down for you real quick since I'm already on the website. Please hold. I need to play some elevator music right there. I'll add elevator music. Okay, so the lash battle is the 23rd and the 24th. They have categories classic, angel wet set, lash lift, Russian volume, mega volume, subtle color, ombre, extreme, vivid, freestyle, and avant-garde. And if I am at the lash battle, I'm doing the avant-garde category because it is wicked, and y'all know I love wicked. You know I'm here for everything wicked, and I have the greatest idea that nobody's ever seen before. And if I go, I'm going to win. I repeat, I am going to win. So be prepared if I'm there. If I'm not, people gonna bring it, but they're not gonna bring it how I was. Okay, so let's go back to that's completely out of order because the first thing is PLA announced that they are having an in-person workshop at their headquarters on March 15th through the 17th. Waxing with Wednesday is gonna be on the 15th. Lashes with Michelle and Ashley is gonna be on the 16th, and nails with this guy named Malcolm is going to be on the 17th. That lineup is pretty good, and I'm excited to see um how that experience is. It's always great to go to headquarters. It's like walking into the Willy Wonka uh chocolate factory. It's amazing. I love Michelle, I love Ashley, they're both really good people, and this year just feels a little different though. Like I'm not chasing every single stage. I thought that that's what I wanted to do, but I also don't want to beg people to be on their stages. I want them to see that I have value and I have worth, and people are gonna grow and learn and connect and be uplifted when I'm on their stages. So I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing, maybe pushing a little bit harder, but this year is really, really, really focusing on my direction and where I want to go. If I want to be profitable or if I really, really want to help the lash community, because if I want to be profitable, I'll have to charge like$1,000 for my course. If I don't want to be profitable, I can make my course extremely affordable and just spread the knowledge, which is where I'm leaning more towards. I don't, I say this all the time, and I and it's a horrible mentality to have as a business owner and an entrepreneur, but I don't care about the money. I fell in love with flashes, and I love when other people love what I love and we can talk and nerd out about different things. So I'm not about the money like that. Like, that's why I don't charge my clients for their aftercare supplies. Like when my clients run out of their shampoo, I'm like, girl, grab another one, get a spoolie, take an extra one. Like, I love it here. But yeah, I do love it here. Hopefully, you'll see me on some sages in 2027 because usually they are picking their next speakers like the end of the year for the next year or even the year before. So 2026 is when I need to be applying for speaking positions in 2027. If you're not following me on TikTok and Instagram, please follow me. Follow my personal page, Hey Lash Hey, and also Haylash Hay Podcast. The more followers you have, I know they say that they don't watch the followers and stuff and how many followers you have, but it's a lie. If you ever hear anybody talking about their event and if you want to speak, I'm gonna be honest with you. I've talked to a couple of people who choose the people who talk on stages. They care about your followers. They don't want you talking to an empty room. And if people don't know who you are, then they're not gonna pay for the ticket to come to the event. So they that's why we keep getting the same people over and over and over at these different lash events, because the same people are being uplifted and praised all the time. Follow me, follow people who are giving you quality information for free. We're doing this so that we can help and grow the lash community and get on these stages so that we can give you a different perspective. Because a lot of these people who are talking now are completely out of touch with what's happening right now in the lash industry. It's tricky when you transition into teaching versus when you are lashing full time, like some of the trends and the techniques and stuff that come out, you have more time to work on them and you notice the different changes and everything. So making sure that you're following the everyday lash artists and the everyday lash artists who are trying to give you information, follow them, help them grow their numbers so that they can get on stages. Help me get on stages, help some of my trainer sisters get on stages because we're trying so hard. We're working our butts off, and it honestly it sucks. And I hear people talking about being tired of seeing the same faces. I feel the same way. I love that every I love that people are winning, but it's okay to share the stage. Share the stage. Okay, that's it. I'm done. That was my little sauciness of the day. But other than that, uh speaking of being selective, let's talk about the most X question that I've been getting lately. It's time for a lash mail. You've got mail. Lately, the question I've been getting on Lash Queens is what's your favorite UV system? I want to break this down a little bit. I am currently working on an episode for UV light curing and taking a deep dive into everything that I've gathered from light curing. I'm excited to share that with you. I also have a course that I'm working on to teach others about light curing lashes because there's so many people spewing out different opinions on UV light curing, but all of it's not accurate. And not every system is the same, and not every company has the same values, and that's where it can get cloudy and confusing. So I'm gonna break that down in another episode, but I'm just gonna lightly breeze through just the overall consensus of UV and what to look for and how you can better grow in your understanding of light cure so that you can make an informed choice after knowing what you know. So, like I said, first off, all UV systems are not equal. Some use different light, they have different wavelength outputs, some cure faster, some are safe for skin exposure, some adhesive pairs better with different lights, some radiate heat if they're not used right. But overall, UV is safe. It's how you use your system as instructed versus just using it anyway that's going to make you into the different categories of safe and kind of safe. So here's what you need to know when you're looking uh and when you're trying to choose a light that's going to work best for you. My number one piece of advice is to use the light of the brand adhesive that you're gonna be using. So if you have a lash apothecary light, you're not going to use Oliver adhesive. I mean, you can, but you want to make sure that you get the readings and the safety sheets to make sure that your light is strong enough to cure the adhesive that you're using. Because when the resin isn't cured properly, that's when you can come into issues. Just like with nails, you can come into issues when the resin isn't cured properly. So the strength and the coverage of the light, a safety measures like eye protection and skin protection. If your light requires that type of thing, I use Lash Apothecary Opal 2, and they are in the exempt zero category, which means that I don't have to use any protective gear or protective things for my clients because there's no blue light and it doesn't penetrate through the skin. The light doesn't penetrate through the skin. You need to determine the cost of like replacement parts and the availability of replacement parts if you have warranties because UV is definitely an investment and an expensive one if you're looking at the more expensive lights. And you also want to find a brand that is 1000% transparent about their ingredients, their process, and everything. If you ask for a safety data sheet and they don't give it to you, run the opposite direction. A lot of these companies have been tested and have safety data sheets, and you need to know how to read those safety data sheets so that you can understand completely what you're doing to your clients. Because the last thing you want to do is harm your clients because you were uneducated on how to properly use the equipment, which is very rare, which is probably not gonna happen, but it's better safe than sorry, you know. So do your own research, read your safety documents, ask about certifications, make sure you're watching demos, asking people who have used UV systems, regardless of it's Lash apothecary or another brand, ask questions. People will definitely tell you what they don't like about things, but if they have an amazing product, they're going to brag about the good of it as well. So, yeah, doing your own research is extremely important. I've said this before, but you could check out the Lash Apothecary Lash Science podcast. They go over really good information and they have courses and trainers all over now that can teach you UV. And there is the UV series from Lashcast. Um, the information is very good, it's quality. It is a little older episode now, but it's still pretty accurate to everything that we're starting to see and confirm now that UV is being talked about more. Now, there are still people who are just super hesitant on if they want to use the UV. And if you're one of those people, that's okay. You can stick with traditional. Now, there is going to be, in my personal opinion, there is going to be a shift where like UV is going to be the overall norm of the last industry in the next like two, three years, maybe five years. Sometimes it takes a while for a trend to like really stick or a new way of thinking to stick because I don't want to call this a trend because trends fade. Um, it looked like it was gonna be a trend back in 2021 when I first saw it. I was like, UV, I don't know, I'm not doing that. Um, but yeah, it is definitely here to stay. I will probably never go back to traditional adhesive, to be honest with you. I've adjusted my techniques and I've noticed huge changes when it comes to switching to UV. But if you're looking for a system to try and you are willing to make the investment, I 1000% would go with Lash Apothecary. I love their blush adhesive because it's not black, it's like a pinkish, transparent color, and it is amazing. It is amazing with the right prep for your clients and everything. I haven't had any issues, no reactions, no clients talking about their lashes burning or anything, none of it. I have heard of some people saying that the light gets a little warm. I personally haven't experienced that, and it could be user error, but I absolutely love it. I know there is another brand that a lot of people are using, and I'm gonna pull it up real quick. Please hold. Evlo Halo Focus is what it's called, and I really, really, really was thinking about trying it. It is a little bit more affordable than Lash Apothecary, but it's doing your own research and determining which works for you. I heard so many people talk about Lash Apothecary when I was first deciding the system that I was gonna use, and I am a word of mouth reviews, experiences, the facts. I like to go based off of all of that and really, really taking into account user comments like reviews, and then I pick the one who has the best reviews based off of customer experience. So when we do our deep dive episode, which is gonna be very soon, I will go through every single thing that you need to understand before switching over to UV, making sure that you get the information that you deserve to make the best informed choice for yourself. I love that PLA does not have a UV system right now because like I will probably be obsessed with it and I wouldn't try anything else right now, is my opportunity to try other things. So I'm very blessed that I got to use the Lash Apothecary system, and I am hopefully going to take the Opal Free course so that I can get that information as well, because cleaner products is what you want to strive for so that you can keep your clients longer. If you're using products that aren't as clean and they start to form contact dermatitis or blafaritis or other things that can come from just forming an overall allergy to the allergens that have collected over time, um, and avoid all of that by using a cleaner product, you know, why wouldn't you? Even though it costs a little bit more, it's an investment in your business at that point to keep longevity of your clients. But yeah, that's that's really it for lash mail. Now that we've talked about UV, let's talk about something even more important. Clean hands, clean tools, clean standards. Let's go to lash talk.

Lash talk, lash talk.

Okay, okay, okay, students. Sit down, get your books out, get your pins. Let's talk sanitation and soap notes. I don't know if you have a way that you organize and run your business, but it's extremely important that if you got hit by a bus or something and you couldn't lash anymore, but lashing is your life and it's your only stream of income. Would you be able to hire somebody to do everything that you do for your company? Would you have it written out for them if you weren't able to teach them anymore? Um, if you weren't able to teach them how to run your business, would your business still survive? And most of us, it would not. So I'm gonna help you to understand how to make your business a little less stressful, more organized, and basically developing either an exit plan or being able to hire. You can use this as an onboarding thing for new people that you're hiring into your company to eliminate any confusion on what your expectations are for them, or it's just for you. So you don't have to think about things when you go into the office. You just go down your checklist and do the things that you're supposed to do. So, first off, uh, sanitation is extremely important. We're playing with people's eyes, so we don't have a chance, we don't want the chance to come up where things aren't sanitized properly. Um, you can't call yourself a professional if your sanitation is sloppy. This is one of those things that I noticed when I looked up the true definition of a lash tech versus a lash artist, and I'm actually gonna pull that up for a second. Please hold. So the reason why I bring this up is because people down being called a lash tech and they want to be called a lash artist more, but the definition of a lash tech is definitely more enticing than being called a lash artist. It actually should be flipped the other way. I know that art is a huge part of it based off of styling, but listen to this: a lash tech is someone trained to perform the lash service correctly and safely. Think of it as following a recipe. They'll usually focus on learning the basic techniques, following specific maps given in training, applying lashes safely and correctly, performing standard services. The goal of a technician is proper application. A lash artists focuses on styling, design, and creativity. A lash artist understands eye shape, eye layer, texture building, weight distribution, and customized mapping. They are looking to design a look for your face. So when we're talking about sanitation and organization of your company, would you rather be a lash tech where you're focusing on safety and basic technique over the lashes look cute and they look good on their face as a lash artist? So today we're all lash techs, okay? We're gonna focus on our sanitation, our cleanliness, and our organization of our company. So, you beautiful lash techs, most states require you to label your supplies. Your products should, if they're not in the original casing. I know in Michigan, you have to label them. You have to label them specifically, like clean, soiled, what the product is. So, like my mascara wands and my lip wands and everything, I am putting mascara wands disposable, opened on this date, expiration if applicable, and then making sure it's properly stored in a closed container. And I think most places have that requirement. So if you're transferring, like I said, if you're transferring products into a small container, it must be labeled clearly, and there's no exception for mystery bottles. You don't want an inspector to come in and say, hey, what is this bottle? They should be able to look at it and say disinfectant or barberside or alcohol or whatever you have in the bottle or lash cleanser. So for my clients, I like to assign each of my clients a lash, a covered lash tray that I take and I write their name on it so that they so I know that it's not being cross-contaminated. As far as like washing your tweezers properly, you want to wash them with warm water and antibacterial soap to remove the debris. I actually like to use a little toothbrush. I got a pack of like five for like seven dollars on Amazon or at Walmart, and I change it out each quarter. Not just toss it. You can change it every day and just disinfect it with your tweezers. It's just like when you're using makeup brushes or using uh hairbrushes, you can properly disinfect them. You have to. When you are cleaning your tweezers, you want to dry them after you've washed them and then. You want to submerge them into an EPA-approved disinfectant for the required contact time. Most of the time, you'll hear people say that they use barberside. Barbicide is a great option. Now, if you are in some like different organizations, they actually use different things other than barberside that's stronger. But barbicide is EPA approved unless you're in a state that requires you to do something different. Just check with your uh state. Um, in Michigan, it's called Laura L-A-R-A, where you can look up any guidelines that you need. When you're washing your tweezers, you want to put gloves on so that you're um protected from any bacteria that are on the supplies that you're cleaning, and then you're gonna remove those gloves when you're done, and then you'll let the tweezers, you'll put them in an autoclave or like a sterilizer machine to help you uh sterilize them. I was supposed to say sanitize them. So sanitizing them is you're cleaning them with the soap and water, submerging them in the barberside is your disinfecting them, and then your sterilizing is putting them into the autoclave or I'm probably saying that wrong, the autoclave or the sterilizer machine. Uh, there's no shortcuts when it comes to this, no wiping and just going, no using just alcohol on your tweezers and just going clean. You need to wash them with soap and water, disinfect them so it kills any type of bacteria that might still be left behind. It's important to keep everything clean and sanitized because these are going onto the client's eyes. Now, one thing that can be overlooked, maybe, is your bed. You want to make sure that you are cleaning your lash bed after every single client. You're gonna remove any linens that you have. You're gonna make sure that you are spraying and wiping your space down with disinfectant, and then you're going through and spraying with alcohol. You're going to allow proper dwell time so you don't want to spray your bed down and then have your client lay on it right away. It needs to be at least 10 minutes in between just to make sure that the bed is properly disinfected and you're gonna replace those linens. If you put sheets or blankets on your bed or fuzzy socks or anything, you're gonna make sure that you're washing those. You can either take them home, you can hire a cleaning service to come and pick up your laundry, which is what I do. But before I did that, I used to take them home and I had a special laundry detergent that had a disinfectant in it that got into the clothes and sterilized and disinfected the linens. There's no excuse for having a dirty bed. You should be doing a deep cleansing at least weekly, like really, really, really scrubbing deep, deep into the cracks, which there shouldn't be any buildup because you're washing in between clients, but this is just to ensure that there's nothing trying to live or spread. You don't want to be the place that gets people sick when they come into your space. Now, you heard me say soap notes. Soap notes are important because it's your standard operating procedure. Even if you're solo, it's important that you write down all of your steps from beginning to end of your day to ensure that you have a proper protocol for everything that you might come across. And so you don't overlook things. When you start to overlook things, you're not organized. This is where infections can happen. It helps you to handle allergic reactions and different things like that. You should have soap notes for your clients when they check in, their onboarding, like your welcome orientation for them, sanitizing your tools, how to handle allergic reactions, policies, emergency protocols, and everything in between. Anything that you can think of when you come across the situation, create a soap note for it so that you can always have a template to go back to, or you have a template for somebody who's coming and maybe helping you out in your business or an employee. They know exactly what you expect from them when you pass them the book of all the soap notes of everything they need to break down. They don't have to memorize it. No, it is going to become second nature when you start to get in the groove of going through your checklist every day. But it's okay to have a binder with your soap notes like labeled this is your check-in process. And I'm a step-by-step person. Like I'm like, all right, step one, open the door. Step two, unlock the door. Like different things like that. Like I need that. And some people need that because some stuff is not self-explanatory. Um, and you can't just assume that people are gonna think the way that you think. I used to do that, and it really, really, really stressed me out to communicate with my husband because I'm like, how did you not think about that? And it's like, we think differently. How can I be rude and judge you on how you're thinking? So here is an example of a soap note that I have for when I am opening up my day. So I walk into the building, I unlock the salon, and I turn on the lights. Anywhere that where the clients are going to be, I go ahead and turn those lights on so they don't have to touch it. Less things that your clients have to touch, the more clean your space is going to be. Before you start touching on a whole bunch of stuff, you want to immediately wash your hands. You just came from outside, you just touched the outdoor handle, and now you're about to start prepping for your client to come in. You want to immediately wash your hands before you start touching anything. The next thing you're going to do is you're going to sanitize your station, getting your bed set up. You're going to lay out your tools for your first client. Well, like just your linens, not your tools yet. You're just going to lay out like your bed, the pillow, if you got fluffy blankets, all of that stuff. You're going to get all of that laid out. Then you're going to turn on your lamp, your bed warmer, your air purifier, your wax pot if you have additional services. And then you're going to go through your uh confirmed appointment list. I like to open up my booking site. I use Gloss Genius and I go through all of my appointments for the day to make sure that everyone confirmed their appointments at least 24 hours ahead of time. If I notice that they didn't confirm their appointment, there is a A section. It says verify client, confirm their appointment. And then it says B, if they didn't confirm their appointment, text them and say, and then it has a script of what I just copy and paste and put into a text to them. And it basically just reads, Hey, I noticed I have you scheduled for today at X time. And I noticed you didn't confirm your appointment. Should I expect you for today? If they say yes or no, then it branches off to responses that you say to that person so that you can either get them rescheduled or say, Awesome, I have you confirmed now. They'll usually apologize and be like, Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I forgot to confirm it. And I'll be like, no problem, that's why I do this. You are all good. I will see you later. Um, and then say their appointment time again so that we're on the same page on knowing that we're gonna show up at that time. After you have confirmed all of your appointments, then it's time to get set up for your first appointment. So this is where you're gonna put on your gloves. And these aren't the same gloves that you're gonna use during the service. You're gonna put your gloves on, you're gonna get your tweezers out, you're gonna get your lash towel out, tape, mascara wand, your shampoo, hypochlore, your under-eye pads, all of it. Everything that you're gonna need for your client's appointment. This is your time to get it out, get it set up. This is also gonna help you save time during your appointment. You're not prepping this stuff while your client is laying down, waiting for you to get started. You're prepping this beforehand. So when they lay down, you squirting them with the shampoo, you're washing them, you're ready to go, ready to get moving. The clock is ticking now. Time is money, you're getting paid for your time if you're based on time prices, which we'll talk about on another episode. But yes, have all of this stuff set up. So after um, once your client comes in, then you will go through your soap notes of um, like when a client comes in for their appointment. And that's a completely different setup. I say, Hey Sarah, welcome in. How did you like your lashes? Is there anything you want to change about your lashes? And this is listening to your client's complaints, whether they love their lashes, if they felt like their retention was really good, anything that they noticed. This is kind of like a quick little, like a touch base before you just like, hey, just come on, lay down. Because they might change their mind on a style that, or they might have seen something on Instagram that they love and they uh want to change their style up a little bit. And if you just assume that they want the same thing, some clients feel like they can't talk to you, and then they will take their business elsewhere where they feel like that they can openly be like, Hey, I changed my mind about this style. Can I try a different style? And it also expands your creativity instead of getting stuck with like a regular base of clients who just stick with the same thing. It opens up the door for you to offer different things. So, like, if they come in and you notice their hair color, you're like, Oh girl, I love that new hair color on you. I actually have some lashes that would go perfectly with that hair color. Did you want to try a little color today? And they that gives you an open door to be like, you know what, I don't want to try color, but I did notice that maybe my glass, the lashes were rubbing against my glasses a little and it irritated me, which then caused me to rub them more. So can we go a little bit shorter? Like it opens up that opportunity to talk. Um, the objective is to make sure that you are lashing them in the proper amount of time that you want to document how many lashes they came in with. So you're not counting them, but you're like, this is about a little over 50% of the lashes, or that she came in with barely any lashes. And um, then this is where you document if you notice lash growth changes or uh twisting or anything or any patterns that the client might mention to you. You're gonna notice if the lashes look healthy, if they start to look stressed out, the lashes are gonna talk to you. You're gonna see them if they look damaged. And you wanna make those notes so that you can notice if there's a pattern, if they're just in a growth cycle, or if they have changed something. And this is your way of communicating that with them if you want to, or you can just keep it for your record and just um like keep an eye on it. If you notice that it's starting to get out of control, this is when you're like, hey, I'm noticing, and then you have these conversations with them. But you should be super proactive, you'll notice it gradually as you are going, as you continue to lash the client. And then the assignment is to keep your client in a normal range of two to three weeks or three to four weeks, depending on your technique. Like, notice any inconsistencies with your work. This is more of like your homework. How can I help the client? How can I achieve the set? Different things like that. And then you are going to update those notes for your client. And when your client is done with their appointment, you'll check them out. You'll go through your soap notes for checking out a client, basically, you're showing them their lashes, asking them if they need any new aftercare products or any additional services. Then you're checking them out, walking them to the door, doing all the stuff that you do. But you're documenting all of this as you're going and you have a step-by-step guide so that if you ever get lost or thrown off or you just have an off day, or you're not there, and somebody else needs to run your business, they have all of this information. They can go back to old soap notes and say, okay, I noticed she always has her inner corners are horrible. So this isn't a me thing. It's not, is maybe it's just a norm for her, and it's not something to stress out about if you start to notice patterns without damage or anything. At the end of the day, say you've done with all of your clients. Before you close out your day, you're going to protect your space, your tools, and your piece for the next day by going through your soap uh closing checklist. Um, you're gonna dispose of any tape, iPads, mascara wands that might have fallen on the floor. You're mostly doing this between clients. That's at the end of the soap checklist as well. But just to double check that you didn't miss anything, you're gonna do this at the end of the day as well. You're going to clean all of your tweezers using the soap notes for cleaning your tweezers. Um, and then using your disinfectant, and then you're going to wipe down your bed. Even though you just wiped it after that client just left, you're gonna just close out the day by re-wiping it one more time. You're gonna sanitize your lamp. This was one thing that I wasn't doing for a minute. And as I noticed, you know, when you wash the client, you put their iPads on, you have the light a little more dim so that when their eyes are open, it's not sensitive. And then you go to click that button to like turn the light up. You just touch something that has not been sterilized. So you are going to sanitize your handle, your gooseneck, your your overhead light. You're gonna sanitize all of that. Restock any supplies that you notice are low in inventory, so you're not having to shuffle and move things around during a client appointment. You're gonna confirm any appointments or any cancellations that you might have for the next day and go through your waiting list to see if you can fill in any spaces that you might have. That's called cluster booking. So, say you have a nine o'clock and then you have an 11 o'clock, and then you don't have anything else until four o'clock. After your 11 o'clock, you could probably fit in at like a two o'clock. So you want to go through and see if there's any clients, anyone you haven't seen in a minute, to see if they are maybe interested in coming in because it's the next day. You can give them a small discount. It's better to make some money than no money within a time frame, especially if you're gonna be there all day. Fill up your books, cluster book, try to get stuff as close as you can. If you can't fill in that gap for that two o'clock, text your four o'clock client and say, Hey, I had a last minute cancellation for two o'clock tomorrow. Um, would you like to come in early for your appointment? And then that'll push your clients up. And then if they say no, that's fine. You're gonna be there anyway. Use that extra time to organize or clean or study or take a webinar or something. But if you can push that client up, then you get to leave early or you get to add another client who maybe needed a later appointment for that day, which makes you a little extra money. After you have confirmed your appointments for tomorrow, you're gonna confirm them again in the morning. Also, you're opening a soap note. You're gonna complete all of your soap notes for any clients that you have for that day. You usually do this after the appointment, but say, like you were booked back to back, you maybe ran a little bit over. This is the time where you can comp all of those soap notes. You're gonna take out your trash because you don't want to leave trash in your space. What I like to do is I have a smaller trash right by my lash station, and then I have a larger trash that accumulates the smaller bags, and then I do a big dumpster trip at the end of the week because each day, if I filled up just a like a 30-gallon bag of trash with just two to four appointments for the day, then that trash isn't very full because we're not using like large towels or large disposable things or using small products, so we don't need a 30-gallon bag right by our lash bed. But you do want to take your trash out every day. This is a spa setting, so you don't want it to feel like smelly or anything. Water when we're using like paper towels or four by fours to catch the water, that water, that wet product can start to create a smell, a meal-dewy smell if you don't take care of it. And you don't want that. And then you want to turn off all of your equipment, your lights, and everything, lock up your salon, and then you go home. And with all of those set in place, all of your soap set in place, there should be a soap for everything so that you don't have to worry about if you miss the mark with a client or anything like that. So it tracks your client's health, it protects yourself. Um, it helps improve the retention of your clients and the retention of your sets. It helps you to remember client styles and changes that they make. It tracks allergies and sensitivities for any troubleshooting that you may have to come across with your clients. It helps you maintain uh professional documentation for maybe selling your business or being able to add teammates. So the this can basically be an employee handbook or guide to help guide your employees through the process of overall best customer service and it's going to just make you look very professional and stress-free if your clients ever ask about their lash history. Because sometimes maybe a client will move. And what I personally like to do is I put my client's soap note documents and I keep them all in their client profile. So if I've been using Gloss Genius for five years, and one of my clients, she's been with me those full five years consistently every two weeks. Well, now she's every four weeks, but every two weeks. And when I tell you her soap note is so long, but if she ever moved, I would copy all of her soap notes, put it into chat GPT, and tell it to summarize it into patterns for transfer. This is like when doctors, when you change doctors, that doctor can call your old doctor and say, Hey, can I have my patient records? Or if they'll give you your records to send to your new doctor. If doctors do it for health, we're working on lash health. Let's do the same thing. So making sure that your soap notes are super simple, easy to read, and fit, do it, is going to save you time, energy, and everything in between at the end. I know that was a lot. I don't want you to get stressed out. I want you to take time and really go through your process. If you have downtime and you don't have your soap notes set up, I want you to get a clipboard or a notebook or whatever and a pencil. And I want you to go through your day. Walk into the office. Okay, I had to open the door, I had to check the mailbox, I had to use the bathroom before I got started. Then you're walking down the hallway, you're gonna say, um, what's the first thing I do? I turn on the lights, I unset the alarm. You don't want to put the code in your soap notes, but you do want to say disengage alarm, like things like that. Because if somebody walks in using your soap notes, they're gonna be like, okay, I unlocked the door, I'm just gonna go to the last room, and then you got a silent alarm, and now the police is there, like, what are you doing here? So just get your soap notes together, take your time. If it takes you about a month or two to get a complete soap note together, and it's okay to update this as time goes on. Update it consistently so that it stays updated as you continue to grow in your customer service and your organization. Yeah. Let's lighten this up a little bit and let's talk about entertainment buzz and beats. I have been watching Love is Blind, and the drama is unmatched. I am on the weddings right now, and then the uh uh reunion or whatever it's called comes out at the end of the month, and I am excited about it. And I'm rooting for like two couples, and the rest of them I don't think they're gonna make it. I don't like the way that they show the previews for the next episode because I just feel like it gives too much of the episode away. Like, Devil Wears Prada is coming out with the Devil Wears Prada 2. And I grew up living for Devil Wears Prada. Like, you can't tell me nothing about Devil Wears Prada and talking bad about it because you can just get on up out of here because Devil Wears Prada is my jam. And I was at the movies with Antonio, and I saw the trailer for Devil Wears Prada 2. And usually when I see trailers, I'll go on YouTube and look up like additional trailers, but I don't do that anymore. I feel like the trailers give way too much information. And then it's like, I already know what's about to happen. I can guess this whole storyline. I don't they show the most exciting parts, like all of the reactive parts that you need for the movie to. Make sense the way it does. They show it. So I will turn the TV off if I see a um like a preview commercial or anything like that for Devil Wears Prada. Y'all not about to ruin this for me. I'm going to be in the seat with my Kristen Lou Batons on and my, I don't even know what I'm wearing yet, but just don't, I'm gonna be that girl. I will be Miranda Priestley sitting in the movie theater, eating my popcorn fancy, and I'm gonna bring some glasses so I can drink my slushie like a baddie. When I tell you I'm here for it, I'm ready. And I hope some of y'all are too. Because I hope I'm not just talking to myself about this because I love Devil Wears Prado. But speaking on fashion, did you watch that America's Next Top Model documentary? Girl said, I'm not sorry. Cause I'm trying to help you become a model. What you do with that is what you do with that. And I kind of agree. Now, some of the stuff was a little bit like, eh, Nigel Barker was my inspiration on how I looked at creativity differently through a lens. And seeing that show as a kid helped me with my creativity and my imagination, and how you don't have to have just a simple backdrop. You can have themes to your photo shoots. And when I first started lashing, and I'm actually going to get back into it, I used to have a model come in and I would do a themed photo shoot. And though that was my content. Like I would do her lashes, they were picture perfect. And I would like I did this paint photo shoot where I splattered paint all over her. The background was paint. I used glue in the dark paint. It had a black light. It was a vibe. I'll share some pictures on my story so that y'all can see them because vibes. Vibes were given. And all of it came from the idea of America's Next Top Model. Now, it's awesome to be encouraging and to like spread creativity, but there's also the respect aspect, and there was a lot of things that they missed the mark on with the show, and it really sucks that people had to go through that. But overall, this show was amazing for young girls who weren't maybe picture perfect or super skinny and really struggling with self-image. Some of the messaging was like, you know, it's okay to be you. That's what I got from it. It's okay to be different, it's okay to be weird. Because some of the girls on there kind of looked weird to me. And I was just like, ooh, they're weird, but I like how they sit in their weirdness. And I kind of just have like an overall gravitation towards like style and fashion. Because I watched that so Raven growing up. And when I tell you, I was in my room with my sewing machine, and I still come out in my little TRB on her sewing machine just making stuff. But I used to be on my sewing machine in like sixth grade, learning how to make puffy bell bottom pants with tools underneath them so that I could look like that so Raven. Because her outfits were giving everything they were supposed to give, and I wanted to be that, especially as a bigger girl. I wasn't always comfortable in my skin. And sometimes I still struggle to this day where the little me is coming out and being like, oh, you're not what they look like on stages and stuff. And and I have to get out of that. And seeing Devil Wears Proud is gonna help me because I need it. My little tiarette needs it. I need it. So um if you haven't got into photography, like just take your phone and go into your settings. Look up, look up on TikTok based off of your phone, like different settings to create like a hack to make it to where you're using the most that your camera has to offer you for quality and really focus on like capturing moments and capturing beautiful things. Elevation requires visibility. So you want to make sure that you are doing photo shoots, having fun, get a model in, do her lashes for free, and just be like, girl, I'm about to take a million pictures. So be prepared. Um, we can all be Miranda Priestley together. Yes, for music, I'm still waiting for Beyonce because obviously I thought that I was gonna have it by now because of the Super Bowl, but that didn't happen. So I'm leaning more towards July based off of what the Beehive is saying. Um, but I'm stuck in 2012, 2010, 2012. I'm a millennial. I was in high school around that time, and a person that really caught my eye back then was T-Pain. Knowing that, I went on YouTube and looked up like one of his performances from last year, and his energy is infectious. He is hitting everything, even at his beautiful age. I don't know how old he is, but his stage um his stage presence is the kind of presence that I want when I teach. When I tell you it's infectious, it's confident, it's fun. He demands the authority of the room, and there's so much joy in his face. Like, I want to bring that type of energy to like stages when I talk, when I come on this podcast. I want to you to feel my excitement and my love for lashing, like you see him when he is dancing and singing. Even though he was known for doing like auto-tune and stuff, he live, he don't use auto-tune, he just be singing. And I'm like, I kind of want the auto-tune, but he is so comfortable in being his self and not worried about what we expect from him that he is just up there having fun doing 20-year-old songs, and I love it, I absolutely love it. So keep watch his watch, go on YouTube, type in T Pain, T, the letter T like me, Pain, P A I N, and live performance. He was on Mass Singer. If some of you are Mass Singerers, he was the winner of Mast Singer like a couple years ago. But look at how infectious his energy is, and you can tell he got tired like halfway through, but he still pushed through and gave the energy where he was supposed to. But speaking of energy and uplifting and being the vibe, let's go into something deeper, the overall vibe of why I am here, which is our prayer corner and uplifting God. The prayer corner where faith and lashes meet. Today I'm going to be reading the King James version of Psalms 51 and 10. So that's chapter 51, verse 10. Clean in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me. Let's break that down. So in this passage, David wasn't asking God to fix his environment, he was asking God to fix him. Create in me a clean heart. That means cleanse my motives, clean my pride, clean my ego, reset my attitude, give me a reality check, clean me up, renew a right spirit within me. That means when I feel bitter or I feel burnt out or I'm jealous of not being on stages, or I'm just tired. I've been working hard and I'm frustrated, my house ain't clean, kids driving me crazy, husband bugging me, clients ain't happy, clients can't get in because I'm booked. God refresh me. Sometimes you don't need a new strategy. Sometimes you need a spiritual detox. We hold trauma. We get triggered. We get tired. We're not perfect. We're not God. We can't do it all like He does it all. So sometimes we need to ask him, God, refresh me. Because right now I'm really struggling. And when you're talking, this is when I how I'm talking to you, is how I talk to God. I'd be like, God, look, the house sick. How I'm supposed to clean up, cook, keep everybody healthy, run a lash business, car going out. How am I supposed to do all of this? And then you start to get frustrated and burnt out. Then you start looking at other people's lives and getting jealous at what they have that you don't have. And sometimes you need to take a step back. It's just like disinfecting your tweezers. You need to disinfect your thoughts. And God is the disinfectant. He is the barberside. He is the soap, the antibacterial soap. He's the water. He's the toothbrush that you're using to clean the tweezers. He's the disinfectant. He is all of it. He can help make you new again. He can help rejuvenate your soul. How can you implement this into your business? You can do this before your clients come in for their appointments. You need to pray over your space. If you don't know how to pray, I want you to say this exact thing when you walk into your office. God, I thank you so much for this business. I thank you so much for the clients that I am going to serve today. Use me as a vessel to help them in things that they need, not just for myself, but for you. Use me intentionally, God. Help grow my business. Help support my mind and my spirit to be more like you, God. I thank you so much. Amen. Or you could just say, God, bless my business, bless my clients, bless my mind, bless my family. I thank you for everything. Amen. As soon as you say what you're thinking, God can already know what you're gonna say, but He needs to hear it. He needs because there's power in the tongue, there's power in your words. So you need to be intentional on speaking those things out. Some people call it manifesting. Speaking those things out and manifesting them into the world so that you can be intentional. Another thing that you can do is if you feel like you're being competitive or you're being discouraged in a like bad way, write it down and ask God to renew your mindset. Sometimes we are the worst critics to ourselves and we talk down on ourselves. And God, He hears that. We don't like notice all of the bad things we say about ourselves. When you write them down and you see, oh my God, what if so what if somebody else said this to me? I'd be ready to fight. So why am I talking to myself like that? And yes, therapy is good and everybody needs therapy, but writing it down and taking it to God so that He can renew your mindset. It's like when you write it down, that's like physically seeing the glue stuck on your tweezers, or physically seeing maybe client has some dirty, dirty flakes on their lashes, and now they're on your tweezers. You can physically see this dirt on your tweezers. If you write it down, you're seeing it, and then you're asking God, remove it, scrub this stuff off of my mind. I don't want this here anymore. That's you giving him the permission to come into your life and help you and renew your mind. You also have to be prepared for what God asks you for, which means that sometimes God is very direct. Sometimes you could be like, God, send me a sign. If I don't, if I don't need this client, I don't need him. The client will cancel, the client will do something that's like, that's the sign. They gotta go. Audit your movements. That's the last thing that you can do. You can audit your movements by posting to inspire, not to compare. Like, so for me, I have more free time because I'm gravitating more towards training. So I'm able to like post and say, hey, I'm able to take a month off to focus on my family and my health because I had a really good last couple of months where I can, and this is how I can help you get to that level. You're not posting to compare or or do any of that. You're posting to inspire. You're like, hey, if I can do this, and I'm telling you, if I can do any of this stuff that you see me doing and you want to do it, you can do it. Because when I tell you I opened my business with nothing, I had nothing to my name. I had lost my job. I had just had my second kid, postpartum depression, everything. And I was like, I'm gonna start a business because God told me I was praying, and God told me I have something for you, and I see your heart and I know your heart, and I've had this plan for you for a while in this time now. And I was like, God, how am I gonna do this? I don't have no money to start no business. And I did it the most expensive way by not setting up my LLC myself. I paid a company, I paid people to do everything for me at first. And I did not have the, I couldn't afford that. But every time I needed money, God blessed me. He literally had people calling me from years ago that I haven't talked to in forever and was like, hey, I have$3,000 that I want to give to you. And I'm like, but what you want? Nothing. I need to give this to you. All my bills were paid. Not off that$3,000, but all of my bills were paid when they needed to be paid. No late notices, no nothing. And I was just getting started. Like I was in school. I wasn't even making money yet. All of my bills were getting paid. And it wasn't from Antonio. I mean, Antonio did some of it, but because he was still like figuring out his placement at his job, but the bills are getting paid, and it was nothing but God. He used other people to help me. What I want you to do this month is a soul sanitation check. First, I want you to ask yourself, is my heart clean? Is my spirit right? Am I operating from peace or pressure? And the reason why I say that is because if your spirit is clean, your service hits different. If your conversations feel lighter and your creativity is flowing, God is in the room, especially if you're praying. If you're operating off pressure and stress, you need a soul sanitation. You need a cleansing. Now, I'm not talking about grabbing stones and charging crystals and all of that. I'm telling you, talk to God because he's more powerful than all of that. Now, don't get me wrong, it's cool to do all of that stuff. If that's what you're into, I used to be into that until I built a closer relationship with God and realized that these are unnecessary. I don't need them. But to each his own. I'm not gonna judge you for grabbing your crystals. If that with the intention of talking to God as well is what's going to get you through, do it. But you need to cleanse. It's about your sanity, it's about your creativity, it's about your confidence, it's about the service that you're providing for others. When you feel better, you're gonna do better. But that's how you build something sustainable. Putting God in it, having your soap notes and everything else in between. That's it for today. I hope you remember that you are not behind. You are just being refined. I'm rooting for you, I'm growing with you, and I believe big things are coming for you. Clean your tools, clean your system, clean your spirit, find your community, and continue to love yourself and love God. Spread that love to others. Until next time, stay sharp, stay sanitary, and stay aligned. Bye, family.
