Are you tired of feeling like anxiety has taken over, leaving you stuck in your head, replaying every little thing, and second-guessing yourself at every turn? Do you feel like no matter how hard you try, it's impossible to quiet your thoughts and move forward? If that sounds like you, you're in the right place. Hi, and welcome to the very first episode of Block Out the Noise podcast. I'm Jessica Davis, a licensed therapist and mindset coach for anxious teens and young adults. I've spent over a decade sitting with teens and young adults who feel like anxiety is running the show. I know what it's like to feel trapped by racing thoughts, overwhelmed by expectations and stuck in a cycle of self-doubt. But I've also seen how powerful it is when someone decides to take back control, to say this doesn't get to define me, That's what this podcast is about, helping you quiet the noise, rebuild your confidence, and start moving forward in a way that feels right for you. Before we dive in, I want to tell you about a free resource I've created just for you, the Anxiety Survival Toolkit. It's filled with practical tools to help you feel more in control when anxiety hits. You can grab it in the show notes. It's there to support you whenever you need it. I also want to mention something important. This podcast is here to guide and support you, but it's not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you're in crisis or need immediate help, please reach out to a trusted therapist or contact emergency services. That said, if you've been feeling stuck in your own head, replaying every little thing and wondering why moving forward feels so hard, you're not alone and you don't have to figure it out all by yourself. In this episode, I'm going to share why I created Blackout the Noise. why I'm so passionate about this work, and how this podcast will help you navigate anxiety and build confidence in yourself. So make yourself comfortable. Let's get started. I'm going to take you behind the scenes for a moment. As a therapist, I've worked with so many teens and young adults who walk into the office feeling overwhelmed, sharing everything they're carrying, They tell me about the constant overthinking, the self-doubt, the fear of letting people down. And after an hour, they leave feeling better, lighter, even more hopeful. But here's what sticks with me. So many of them have shared that when things get really hard, they feel like they should be able to handle it on their own. They silently suffer until everything feels like it's falling apart. This could look like them not sharing things like, Issues with friends, skipping classes, quitting a job, or not telling anyone until much later. Or holding on to fears they're too embarrassed to share out loud. They worry I'll think it's stupid or that they're being dramatic. But the truth is, they're not alone in feeling this way. And those moments are exactly when support matters the most. That's why I created this podcast. To meet you in those moments. to give you something you can turn to no matter where you are or what you're facing. It's here in the moments when anxiety feels too much or if you're not sure what to do next. And most importantly, it's here to remind you that you're never alone in this. Your generation has been called the anxious generation. And honestly, that makes so much sense. There's so much pressure, so much noise, and so many expectations. And future episodes will dive deeper into why that is. But today I want you to know this. Anxiety doesn't have control over your story. The very fact that you're here looking for support proves that. You're showing up for yourself. And that's where resilience truly begins. So let's start with some simple steps to quiet the noise when anxiety feels like it's taking over. First, pause and notice. I know it sounds simple. But when anxiety kicks in, your brain wants you to react. Instead, pause. Take a moment to breathe and notice what's happening. Ask yourself, what am I feeling right now? What are the thoughts that are going through my mind? Just identifying those things can help you feel a little more grounded. Ask yourself what's true. Anxiety is sneaky. It loves to present the worst case scenarios as facts. When a negative thought shows up, Ask yourself, is this even true? What evidence do I have to even support this? Often you'll find that the thought isn't as solid as it seems. Three, take one small step. When anxiety feels overwhelming, the best way to start is start small. Focus on doing just one thing. It could be texting a friend, cleaning your desk, or simply just standing up and going for a walk. Small actions build momentum and remind your brain that progress is possible. This podcast is here to give you tools like these. Things you can try right away to feel calmer, more grounded, and more in control of your thoughts. This isn't about fixing everything all at once. It's about giving yourself permission to start small and move forward one step at a time. Thank you so much for spending your time with me today on Block Out the Noise. Starting this journey together means everything to me, and I'm so excited for what's ahead.
