The Mighty Philbert Podcast
Welcome to The Mighty Philbert — the channel where we dig deep, ask hard questions, and refuse to smile politely at bad theology. Whether you're crawling out of evangelicalism, recovering from purity culture, or just wondering why your Sunday school teacher thought dinosaurs rode the Ark, you're in the right place.
Hosted by a proud GenX survivor of church trauma and theological gaslighting, this channel serves up weekly doses of counter-apologetics, Christian deconstruction, and cultural commentary with a heavy side of sarcasm and '90s nostalgia. We’re talking real talk about religion, belief, and how to rebuild your worldview without all the baggage.
New episodes every week. Bring your questions, bring your doubts — and maybe your flannel.
Because sometimes faith needs a second opinion.

S02E36 When Communities Fail
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this video, I’m responding to a public statement made by Nancy, read by her sister Patty of the Apostate Sisters channel. In that statement, Nancy shares her account of an alleged assault that took place at NaNoCon 2025, along with what she says happened in the aftermath.
I am not here to speculate, investigate, or present new evidence.
I am here to listen… and to take seriously what was shared.
This video includes excerpts from Nancy’s own words and focuses on a larger issue: how communities respond when someone comes forward with a serious allegation.
The events discussed in this video are based on Nancy’s publicly released statement. Which you can find here:
• Why Nancy is No Longer on Apostate Sisters...
I encourage anyone watching to listen to that statement in full before forming conclusions.
This is not about harassment, retaliation, or mob behavior.
It is about:
Accountability
Community responsibility
And whether people can speak up without being dismissed or attacked
🧠 Why This Matters
Many of us have seen situations—across different communities—where:
Allegations are minimized
Victims are questioned or discredited
And reputations are protected at the expense of truth
This video asks a simple but uncomfortable question:
What do we do when it happens in our own spaces?
🚫 Important
Do not use this video as a reason to harass, threaten, or target anyone.
Comments that include:
Personal attacks
Victim blaming
Defamation
Or reckless accusations
will be removed.
Engage responsibly.

🔚
This is about more than one story.
It’s about whether we’re willing to listen…
when it’s uncomfortable.
