What if greatness is lighter than you think? We take a hard look at ambition, comparison, and the pressure to be “the greatest,” then let Jesus upend the metric by placing a child at the center of the conversation. Matthew 18 becomes our guide, not as a slogan but as an invitation: convert your mind, soften your posture, and trade self-exaltation for trust.

We unpack the counterfeit path of pride—echoing the ancient “I will be like the Most High”—and explore why ego promises elevation but delivers emptiness. From there, we trace the kingdom’s counterintuitive path: childlike humility. Not childishness, but a clear-eyed dependence that says yes to grace. We talk about faith that comes by hearing the word of God, how the Spirit anchors daily growth, and why obedience is less about rule-keeping and more about relationship. The episode moves from theology to practice with honest reflection on rivalry, confession, and concrete habits for becoming small in the best way.

Expect an honest prayer, a walk through Matthew 18, and a gentle challenge to let go of comparison and receive the joy of being kept by God. If you’ve been exhausted by striving or stuck in the loop of proving yourself, this conversation offers a quieter, steadier way to live—rooted in Scripture, guided by the Spirit, and shaped by grace. Listen, share with a friend who needs relief from performance pressure, and leave a review to tell us where you’re learning to practice humility today.

Prayer And Purpose

And we thank you, Lord, that we can understand your will through scripture. You put it into writing, your will. We ask that your will be done in our lives. Help us to understand the spirituality of your grace. You taught us through your word. You speak to us through your word. Lord, I'm looking today at Matthew, the Gospel of Matthew, the 18th chapter. You have given us a guideline on how to live. Things that we cannot do on our own without restrict. We have to do it according to whatever to be done. We have to do it according to your will, spiritual. Thank you for these words. Everyone who's listening today, hope that we may have a clear understanding of your will. At that time, the disciples came to Jesus saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child to him, set him in the midst of them, and said, Assuredly, assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Because those words given to us in Scripture, Jesus speaks to us. Our God is great. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. Since we were created to know how the great God, we have a yearning to find true greatness, the counterfeit path, to greatness for the world, the flesh, and the devil is through self exaltation. I will listen to it. The Bible, Isaiah 14, 14. The statement is made. Listen to the statement. I will be like the most high. You listen to that? I will be like the most high. There's a self-exaltation in men and women on the outside of the kingdom, outside of the will of God, want to be God. I will be like the most high. The heavenly path to find spiritual greatness is, listen carefully, through childlike humility. The disciples asked Jesus, who had truly found greatness in the kingdom. The disciples asked Jesus who had truly found greatness in the His kingdom. At that time, the disciples came to Jesus saying, Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Question. No doubt, to their amazement, he placed the little child in the middle of them. And Jesus called a little child to him, set him in the midst of them. How could this small child give insight into the query? Jesus' words must have been staggering for them to receive. Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. In the first place. No one can even enter into the Lord's kingdom without having a change of mind from the natural perspective of fallen humanity. We have such a self-sufficient, self-exalting viewpoint on life and how to find greatness. In order to become a child of God, we must be willing to adopt the Lord's perspective. Instead of us being capable of developing a valid, great life on our own, we must take the place of a humble and adequate needy child looking to the Lord of light to give us eternal life. Then, in order to grow in spiritual greatness, we must be willing to continue in a daily walk of childlike humility. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Let me repeat, therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. We must become as humble children in the sight of God to be pleasing to him. We cannot do that on our own. What God has done for us and in us, he has given you and me the Holy Spirit to live on the inside of us. These are spiritual things we must understand. This is a spiritual relationship that we have with our Father God and His Son Jesus Christ. The just listen to the Bible. Then the Bible teaches you and me, so then faith comes by hearing. And what do we hear? Hearing by the word of God. You and I believe God, trust him, that all his promises are yes and amen. When we learn to trust him, to be obedient to what he says and gives us to his word, we become like little children. We are dependent. We are dependent children. We depend upon him as children. When we become humble like children in the sight of God in our spirit, we understand we began to please God because of the humbleness of ourselves before Him. Teaching had to fall like a stinging indictment upon their hearts when he taught them, except you become as little children, you can in noise enter the kingdom of God. Since their motivation in asking was based upon their repeated arguments over which of them was the greatest in his kingdom, then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest. There was also rivalry among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. You can find it in Luke 9:46 and Luke 22 verse 24. Yes, the Bible wanted to teach you and me in 2026 to become as a little child. Become dependent upon God and His will. Pray to Him, ask Him to help you. This is what grace is all about. We must walk in the grace of God. Praise God. Oh, great and awesome is the Lord. We confess that we have often sought greatness through the self-exalting path of this fallen world. Many times we have compared ourselves to others, thinking that would make us the greatest. Lord, Lord, we repent. Lord, we want to walk before you by day as a humble, needy, dependent child, all of us as children of the great King of Kings. Amen. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before his presence with exceeding joy. Now and forever let us all say, Amen.
