Grace can start to sound like a soft word until you trace what Scripture actually calls it: a covenant. We sit with Hebrews 8 and Hebrews 10 to understand why Jesus Christ is the mediator of a better covenant, established on better promises, and why that changes how we approach God in everyday life. When Hebrews says we have “boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus,” we don’t treat it as religious poetry. We take it as a real doorway God opened.
We also slow down and ask what a covenant means in the Bible. The old covenant was marked by sacrifice and blood, yet it could never finally remove sin. That’s why the “new and living way” matters so much: Jesus consecrates it through His death on the cross, and the gift of God becomes eternal life through Christ. We connect the promise of Jeremiah 31 to the church today, where God puts His law into our hearts, and we highlight the Holy Spirit’s witness that this covenant is not distant or future tense but active now.
Finally, we bring it to the Lord’s Supper. When Jesus names the cup as the new covenant in His blood, communion becomes more than a ritual. It becomes a repeated reminder of forgiveness, access, and inner renewal by grace. If you want a clear, Bible-rooted walk through new covenant teaching, Hebrews, and what “better promises” look like in real faith, press play. SPEAKER_00I want to call your attention to a short homelay today. I want to bring to your attention. We have to keep thinking, and as we look into the word, we have to continue to believe. The Bible teaches us to believe the word. God has given us his word, the new and living way he has given us, not the law, but he has given us his son, Jesus the Christ. Because God loved us. He's the loved not only, well, the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that's the new and living way. That whoever believes, nurse the Bible, whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Thank you for eternal life that you have given us, and through faith we wait upon, we wait on you, Lord, that at end of our existence we are on earth, we still be in your presence. We are so thankful for all that you have given us as we live on this earth. You have left us for a purpose. That purpose is given through scripture. We are continue to glorify your name. You are worthy of all the praises that we have. We know from the scriptures as we look into your scriptures, Hebrews chapter eight, and chapter ten, and chapter chapter ten again, three passages from Hebrews. Let us remember. And here it is, we need to keep into our mind the new covenant inaugurated for the church. New covenant. Covenant, what does it mean? Well, covenant where it has to do with sacrifice, it has to do with cutting. Goes back to the old covenant of sacrifice of animals, blood flowing, animals, but uh it's not possible that that an animal uh could take away sins. So what God did, He gave His only begotten Son. The Bible teaches you and me, if you remember, that the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Jesus Christ is a new way, living way. God sent his son by promise. Jeremiah talked about uh prophesied concerning Christ, the new and living way. And uh the testimony of the scriptures, it has come to pass that the new way has been inaugurated for the church. This is to the Bible, but now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises, and the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us. This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord. I will listen carefully, I will put my laws into their hearts. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Christ, notice carefully the blood of Christ, which is a new and living way, by a new and living way. We stress that new and living way, which He consecrated for us. New and living way, the new covenant of grace. And when we speak of grace, remember we speak of giving. The covenant of grace that is promised to Israel eventually has already been inaugurated for the church now. The book of Hebrews documents this fact repeatedly, but now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as he is the mediator of a better covenant which was established on better promises. Hallelujah. Here in chapter eight, verse six, the new covenant is referred to as a better covenant. Then the instituting of this new covenant is described in the past tense, was established. It is already put into operation for the church. In Hebrews ten sixteen, the promise of the new covenant in Jeremiah thirty one is quoted. This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts. In the previous verse we are told that this quote from Jeremiah includes a message from the Holy Spirit to us, the Church of Christ. And the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us. Praise God for the Holy Spirit that has been given to us, the church. Furthermore, in Hebrews ten, nineteen to twenty, the new covenant is applied to the excess, the excess of the brethren, the church, God's children, to their holy God and Father. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us through His death. On the cross, Jesus consecrated, that is, inaugurated, instituted, established, put into operation the new covenant for us today. Of course, if all fits perfectly with the application of the new covenant to the church, celebrating the Lord's supper. East Lord's name celebrate the Lord's Supper. In the same manner, he also took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the New Testament, a new covenant in my blood, new and living way, praise God. So as we come to a conclusion in our study this afternoon, may the Lord continue to help us and we continue to remember what God has already done for us and we live by grace, the Lord of glory. We just keep giving Him the praise. We rejoice with great gladness that your new covenant of grace is the wondrous manner in which I am we are invited to relate to you. Oh in this rich covenant we have found forgiveness of our sins, all of our sins. Praise be to your name. We praise your name for that. Blessed be your name in this generous provision. I anticipate we anticipate in changed and enabled by you from deep within our hearts. Glory be to your name forever. Amen. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you forthless before his presence with exceeding joy. To the only wise God our Savior be glory and majesty, dominion, and power now and forever, let us all say. Amen.
