But, um, I would say it would've been pretty emotional for to come so.

Um, but then she got to the end, she's like, what are you gonna say about your dad? And man, I have, it hadn't really bothered me a whole lot because I know that it was. For the best, but man, when she said that, I, I couldn't even sit at my desk. I never said a word, and I mean, I was just getting teared up and choked up, and it, it wasn't, it wasn't gonna be an easy thing, so I didn't say a lot because I wasn't sure I, what I could say, you know, uh, without getting just a big mess. So, uh, it all worked out okay.

I told him he could take our truck if he needed it. And I told him he could stay at the house, but he kept his hotel for another day or two. And, um, he went and visited, he went and visited some folks and, uh, he was riding with, uh. Jeremy Ha and them. he just, wherever they went, he went. But that poor guy, he should win. He should win the hoodie because, uh, he did take a cool picture.

Well, I mean, Sunday and Monday, Sunday mainly. Uh, but some people will come Monday, Tuesday. I mean, there's still cows here and they come whenever they, they can, but most people are like, you know, is it okay if I leave it until Wednesday and bring a check Wednesday and pick her? Yes, absolutely. Whatever. Whatever suits you

joe_1_04-16-2025_184832I, these sales are all interesting and I think as we get, I, I dreaded 'em. We did an episode on this, like, how do you make a sale less miserable or not so miserable, or, I can't remember even how we talked about it, or maybe it was even a canned episode, and I'm still in the phase where I'm probably not matured enough in the sale setting. We've had 19 of them. I think almost, maybe we've had 20, I don't remember. But I still get so nervous. I'm still so tied up and worried, and the only way that I try to combat that is to do more work early. And I remember asking Vince, how do you feel about the sale? And you are having so much interest. And I don't know, I just, I admire what you've done because only thing that you do the same as me or the same as Corbin, is you, do you. there's a little different mix of genetics. There's a little different flavor of what you're doing, and are the kind of programs, if you're listening. not that anyone needs to worry about attracting me, but those are the catalogs I open up and I do pour through. you have everything the same as somebody else that was a sale before or whatever, I, I'm sorry, I just don't have the bandwidth, but I will take the time on these unique programs and really try to figure out what's working for these people, what's not. I just have an appreciation for people who wanna put their own spin on something, and I think you've done there. Um, Tennessee, Vince is something special and

Successful day and that everything was top notch from the hospitality to the meal, to the sale itself. Everything just went really well.

I think I like that cow a little bit better now that I know she's bred to him or whatever, you know, maybe I don't like her now that she's bred to him, whatever it might be. But, um, I really wish I would've had blue blood up here as well, but I needed him turned out. Um, so if anybody asked about him, I always, I took him back there and showed him out in the pasture. um, you know, it just, I think that if, if somebody. If you have bulls like that and somebody has never seen them, that, if the cattle are bred to him or have calves at side by him, it's not bad if you have somewhere to put 'em on display. I think it's a good thing. Um, but I only have so many display pans, so.
joe_1_04-16-2025_184832No, I think that's one. One regret I have about your sale catalog is I should have sent you a picture of fellow, like, who's fellow? Well, a fellow's a bull now that we have daughters raising their third calf and they're kind of the backbone of our program. And if you're in the know of my deal. I didn't wanna sprinkle that bull out until he was proven. So I sent Vince some Semens, sent Corbin, some Semens, sent Herb Angus, some semen. Just people kind of close to me that will give honest feedback and say, Hey, these cattle didn't work. They did work. We've tried 'em in the little test tube that's at Bruin. And they've, they've excelled here. They really have. And I actually think Legion, for your fit for owning one. Is the right bull, but how you used fellow that's gonna work out really, really well for those customers. And I'm excited for them. I mean, several people reached out to me and they, they asked about the bull and I told them how he's hit here and, and then asked about Legion and they said, well, well, you know what we could see. Just starting shipping country or shipping season, um, out of big country into kind of smaller country, I call it. And a lot of our commercial guys are doing pre-weaning vaccinations, getting ready for their weaning and shipping season and all that. And so. It's really, really fun. I mean, these next 45 days in California are gonna be the days you dream about. They're bright, bright, hurt your eyes, green grass. You can almost hear it growing. If you would sit long enough and be quiet long enough, know. I call it that, uh, if you're driving a four-wheeler and you can't help but get manure on you somehow, know, it's like it flings up and it gets on you and it gets everywhere and it's inside the fender wells of the four-wheeler. That is the season we're in right now. It's like you can almost, almost burns my eyes how pungent that manure is because it's so strong and you, the cattle, you can see them change every single day. I mean. so excited every day that I don't wanna waste any daylight. I, I go out early and I go through cows and I go out. We're gonna get done filming this podcast. If we have any daylight left, I'm gonna go out and check another set of cows, even if they're just kind of some dink cows, because they're so fun to look at this time of year. It's just so fun and it's so easy. and you know, it's a good opportunity. You start weaning those calves off and you have feed like this, start evaluating utter quality, start evaluating you know what kind of calf you have compared to a cow and how much flesh she has on her. It's just a fun time to quiet your mind and just observe things. And I love going to these commercial deals. I was sending you guys texts yesterday from dad's place, um, getting to see lots and lots of generations of our breeding and our foot. Our fingerprint on those cattle and, and through his program and, and get to see how happy those people are and, um, or if they'd like to see you change something. So I absolutely love it.
