Three podcast hosts recap a Tennessee trip centered on Vince’s Shady Brook sale, mixing travel stories with ranch and cattle discussions. They describe friends and listeners helping at the farm, tour stops including Ingram Angus, Josh King’s place, Buck Snort (with virtual fencing dog collars), and later visits to Yakley, Windbush, and ZWT. Highlights include getting trucks stuck and damaging a bumper while sorting cows, encountering coon hunters, a late-night Waffle House debate, Dollar General mishaps, BBQ and brisket, and a bull fight at Buck Snort that tore up a fence. They reflect on the sale’s heat, community atmosphere, and Vince’s integrity in honestly describing cattle, thank buyers and supporters, and preview a future episode about creating opportunities for young producers.
Because Vince, Vince Marcus, welcome to around the shoot. Hey tumor. Good to not see you last weekend. I was gonna say it was his birthday. Do we have to remove it? It was his birthday so he doesn't show up. Was he do like a birthday week? Like it was his birthday? He was, he was spending time with his family. I think if any of our listeners can play a guitar, we look for your inquiry. I'll tell you what, we could just do a cameo with Herod and Herod and uh, Colin Davis.'cause they basically live at Shady Brook providing the manual labor ahead of the sale. How about that? Among other things, lemme tell you say Eric knows a lot of things about a lot of things I heard. Uh, I will say this, I've got good friends. That's all I can say. They come up and they help in any way, shape or form all those people. You, I was really proud to see you guys come. Thank you very much. Yeah, of course. All those people you knew way before the pod though, they came to the pod'cause they knew you. Right. Nope. No, I met, I met Colin through the pod. I met Meen through the pod. I met Harry Few years ago. No, no. You can't include Meen in there. Meen didn't lift a finger? No, he didn't do nothing. He showed up late, left early. He was taking the memory on Turkey hunts. He showed up late. He left early. I thought it was Miranda. No, no. Miranda's at the store, right? Yeah. There were three things in that town. Corby, there's three things in Buck Snort, Tennessee. What are the thing, which is also a town for you folks to know, for listeners to know it's The town is named after Buck. Snort Angus. No, it's not. There's a, Hey, listen, there's a, there's a stop sign. There's a parking meter, and then there's a library lingerie store, and that's it. That's the whole town. Oh. How about Vince's sale, though? We'll get back to that tour. Right. But I guess you're the one that got to go tour places. I didn't. Hey, you didn't go. You didn't go and then you were all probably hurt that we didn't show up till two o'clock on your sale day. I didn't. It was fine. I was busy. It was really fine. It was too hot. We didn't wanna look at there. It was very hot. It was, it was very hot. So, yeah. No, you're right. You had a bunch of good friends. I did not know. You didn't know Colin. What about Herod? Did, did you know Herod before that? Um, that's what I was trying to think. I don't know if he listened to the pot or not. He came I think so. I think that's how he came to the farm last year to the sale. Do you wanna know what I wanna know? I wanna know why. I wanna know why I don't know Herod because that was the first time I'd ever met him. He's, or even he keeps a low pro. He does. Did you know who he was? Joe? I knew his name. I just hadn't met him in person. Did you see the little coffin that he gave me? Yeah. I show it to you then. Pretty funny. We saw in office when we, when Corvin and I were eating our second plate of brisket. Yeah. How about that brisket? Yeah. Thank God we got enough. You guys keep your back. GP says the guy that says the guy that went and bought biscuits to make brisket sandwiches the next morning. They were very, very, very good. Do you still have any left? I do, but it's probably gonna get trash.'cause my brother-in-law came over and got some and he was sick for two days. I don't know what the heck he ate. Hey Corbin, I got an activity top. Top 10 moments from Vince's sale between you and I 10. Oh, I know, I know. What's at the very top. It has to be. I know what's at the top. I guarantee you. Well, I mean, we did. Okay. What's number 10? So number 10. Uh. We're gonna go backwards off. We're going backwards. We're going number 10. Number hard. There's a lot. I put around five. Number 10 is whenever, this one's not that important, but literally we were looking through cows and Vince goes down this hill and it was me and Spencer and who else was in the truck with us? Windbush. Windbush was with you. It was just us three and then it was you, Harod, will and Joe and Vince. Wait, Harod, common Will and Will Wilson ZW. Yeah, that's why you gotta do, that's why you gotta do last names. And somebody was right in the middle too, weren't they? No, it was just Y y'all four. It was just us. Well, those four take off over this hill and there's this huge hole in the pasture. Not to mention we had to get out and lock our hubs in three or four times. And we look up and Vince is gone. Like he goes over this hill and through the, through the river and we are like, man. And I was like, you guys got any ideas? They were like, yeah, speed up you. Do you remember how many AI cows we saw? Because he tore his bumper off his truck. One, it was the low birth weight to America and everything else. He's like, that's a reif. That's a Reif. That's a reif. That's a reif. That's a reif. I was like, why did we come in here? Little tag. Listen, I'm glad we sacrificed a truck. I don't sort my cows that way. Okay. But we found that America daughter, I could've put all the good cows in one pasture. There would've been like six cows down there in the one pasture. Yeah. Okay, so that can't be 10. But it's not number one, right? Oh, no, no. There's gotta be some that are way closer. Number one. Let's do number eight. So in the top 10, do we put the coon hunters that we saw in the middle of the night on the side of the road? What was that about? That's gotta be nine. That's gotta be nine. And, and it's not like nowhere Tennessee. Everyone, everyone's listening to this podcast. I go to Tennessee thinking I'm going to the haulers, right? That's what you guys talk about. Yes. There's a, there's a house. I live in the holler. I live in the house. This guy was hunting in someone's yard. Yes, he was. I was like, man, this is a main road. That's how I be, man. Turns out that's how we locked things. I'm, I'm seeing there by other one. There is. So did you know that I really thought there would be more backwood. Um, I got back. You think it's a farce? Got backwoods. When I went to Lutz. On the way home. Was it Luke Lu's Lu? Yeah. Yeah, Windbush Windbush corrected me on that too. That was the backwoods and then, and then he also told me, Windbush told me that the swamp people lived down there, but River Rats. River rats, ares Swamp Peoples. Oh, LUTs looks rough because the tornado wiped them out a few years back. All do you notice all the trees were all deformed. I noticed a lot of good cow country there though. Yeah, there was a lot of commercial cattle around there. Big bunches and kind of nicer sets of cattle. Maybe I need to start going, hanging out down there. I could sell bulls. I would probably do that if I was you. Hey, don't even say that. How much was your average up on bulls this year? From last? It was up a bunch. A bunch. Action On your books? It was up a bunch. Yeah. Corbin funniest. Thanks to you. Thanks to me. No, not thanks to me. Thanks to your advertising prowess. Sophia's ads. The, the marketing funniest moment, marketing genius. Corbin. I said that she needs to start a corporate. I put a, a little trademark that said, uh, I saw that. Shady Digital Productions. Oh yeah, she doesn't. Shady. Okay, come on. Top 10. There's gotta be some. How about when Two Grocery Outlet, where, where did you go to Grocery Outlet. Well, that store, no, dollar General. I forget. Dollar General. I forget. Dollar General. Dollar General's. Epic. And there's that lady standing there staring at the flip flops. There was. So we pulled, we pulled up to this Dollar General, and there's the woman, the worker, they're about to close in seven minutes and the worker's sitting there smoking her cigarette, sitting in her metal chair right outside the entrance and out the whole parking lot is empty. There's not a car in the whole parking lot. And I turned my brights on and pull right up there. Why would you blind the poor woman? Because I could tell her his lights were right at her eye level. Listen, she's a nice lady. Sweet. I really didn't. She's so sweet. I really wasn't. I really wasn't thinking whenever I was doing it, but she was mouthing me. Something wicked whenever we pull up and there was nobody. Yeah, you're blinding me. I was like, what? Turn the truck off real quick. But that's the first time Joe's ever been to a Dollar General. How is that possible? Well, I was disappointed. I had a lot of firsts. You were disappointed in the Dollar General. Well, apparently everything is just generally a dollar because I wanted to think that everything was a dollar. There's nothing in, there is a dollar. So why is called Candy Dollar General? Maybe years, years ago. I think that's kind of how it was. Yeah man, that was something. Okay, so hey, what does generally, what does general mean? Like the general, that's the insurance company and general. Go to the general. See that one? Yeah, general. General means about about, so everything's about a dollar. Yeah, general. Well, everything we bought was not about a dollar. They did have a good deal on chips. What did you get? They had Doritos. Buy two, get two free. Holy crap. My, so we got the golden favorite chips and Sriracha ones. Yeah, they're the, the Golden Srirachas are my favorite. And then we sat on the couch at our Airbnb and watched along came Poly and Joe got his little cereal bowl and poured chips. We ate our little chip, the Airbnb in the back of the auto parts store. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. That was a nice Airbnb though. I think you should put it in your catalog. Hey, that guy. The, the morning we left. Yes. Yeah. Places to stay. It's a two hole, it's two people. Yeah. Yeah. So the mor next morning though, when we woke up to leave, Joe, did you know that guy was mowing at 6 45? Oh yeah. And it was just the, it was just pure wetness and he was just flogging through it. They'll mow stuff. In Tennessee, I learned two things. They will mow stuff and you know what else they'll do to stuff? They'll spray it. Spray it. They'll spray every freaking weed. No. How many Corbin? Not everybody. How big is shady? Brook Corbin? Not everybody. It's greater than a thousand acres, right? Yeah, greater than I have. How many weeds did you see? The only ones I saw were withering. I saw one in the center of a creek. I have, I have a fetish. A hatred. It's more fetish. It's, it's more of a hatred for pritt bushes and weeds. And the other day I actually saw a little spot that I missed that wasn't bloomed yet when you cast right. I was so mad. Well, I didn't notice any of the weeds. I have a hatred. The absence of them though. I did. I have a hatred for weeds. He's gonna get out there with his hand sprayer and spray the spots he makes. Yeah. So listen, uh, the other uh, top five moment for me, Corbin, was whenever Vince left us, which leads to my top number one comical moment of Tennessee, but in the top times. Where did, where did I leave you? Wait a minute. You went to get coffee and Nate took us on a VIP all access tour. Oh yes. Of the show barn, the Diddy room. And I forgot about the D room. The ddy room. Whatcha baby? Oil and paraquat everywhere. It's literally a wall of baby oil in there. Baby oil and pesticides. And then we went up stick. It made me uncomfortable Corbe when we went upstairs and we found where they play basketball. And there was an elevator, elevator, elevator. Oh, the hail, the hay elevator. Yeah. And what did Nate tell us about the hail elevator when Vince was 10 years old that he rode it to the top? No, it fell in my head. He was fell on his head and he hit him. That's right. And that, oh yeah. Yeah. He's still got a scar there. That's why he doesn't have any hair on top of his head. Yes. Oh, that barn was cool though. Joe. Did you get my saddle sold? I did not get your saddle sold and I still cannot believe unless they, unless they buttered your ears. I don't know how they fit you in that. Hey, I wanna know it's a 17. I want to know how long that washer and dryer's been up there and when you intend to do something with it. I listen, my lovely wife instructed me to get it up there, so we did, and there she sits and it will sit there probably until the barn burns or falls down. I don't know. Okay. So let's see, there was that, oh, another top 10. So all you listeners that said I need to go to a waffle house, apparently that should be number one. So Vince tells us. I was like, Hey, I don't know about this Waffle House. Savannah didn't have a really great attitude, and I said, they don't come out to the people. And Vince said, yes, they do. They come out, they come out into the people, and we argued about this for a solid, what? Half a day?'cause you said, oh no, they don't. They come out. They come out. I've never been in a new waffle house. I go to the old ones that have the years and years of grease built up, because that's the best ones. You know what else? That they have black mold? No, they also have no, not very joyful servers. Those are the best ones. So I, you know, Joe, I get that you live in a different part of the world, but I find it hard to believe that the service is just so top-notch everywhere you go. That's what I'm thinking. Are you not living in the same America that I am? That's what I'm thinking, Joe. Oh no. The service here in Auburn, California is incredible. There's no way that Starbucks service is incredible. Absolutely it is. They're happy to be there. All those hated liberals that hate everybody. No, they love me. I'm serious. Yeah. Until they figure out what, Annie absolutely loves me. She knows my order. She gets it all ready. Everything's all good. He orders black coffee in a bigger than he needs cup. I don't think it's that hard, Joe. That's great. But she's always having to see me. I'm, I'm gonna need a black coffee and a big cup. Fill it half full. Gimme a big cup. So Vince thought it was ridiculous. We had to drive across the street because I had to get a Dunkin Donuts coffee. The reason is because Savannah refused to fill my coffee cup. She wasn't at Waffle House. Very good. The woman behind us listen, was so mad. It's a new store. They're working out the bugs. Hey, they're working out the bugs. Okay. They weren't working out. Speaking of bugs, anything? Speaking of bugs, there was bugs in there too. No, Windbush told me too, what Windbush say? He said, oh, you can't go. You went too early. You gotta wait till midnight. Yeah. What? Like, why would I want to go there at midnight? Oh my. Can you imagine the people you would see there at midnight? It's, it's awesome. That's where those, that's where those videos of day and the great videos they told me smothered covered. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They caught me with a beer. They caught me with a bigger, so Vince went though, this is, this is a unique opportunity. Corbin, you didn't hear this'cause you just came on. Vince went to that waffle house today. The one I know he, because I saw on Snapchat, he actually looked at his Snapchats. So was Savannah any happier to see you than she was? She was not there. She wasn't there. But what I lady, what I did see was the surveillance video of my bald head. And I did not realize it was that bad. It's glows. It's very shiny. Yeah. Did you see all the chairs lined up against the wall? All the chairs against the wall, where the lady's like, you need to move ahead so we know which one to use first. That's, that's Every Waffle house has a different floor plan It. It is, but that one section's always chairs for people waiting in a Oh oh, okay. Oh, so that's usually what you order. Usually. Usually around the window. The Allstar meal, baby. Every time. They didn't have that when we were there. Yes, they did. They've had it for 20 years. You get eggs and hash browns and bacon. I think that's what I got. And a waffle. That's what I got. What Spencer get? Like gluten-free oatmeal or something? A bowl. He got a bowl. A bowl? Yeah. What's wrong with a bowl? He was done in like two minutes and looking at us like, all right, what else? So did Spencer. Meanwhile, I got nine plates of food. Did Spencer leave that trip saying that all I am is a, a catalyst for problems with you? Corman. He was like, golly. I don't know. I don't know that I learned anything. There really wasn't anything to learn, was there? Thanks for that help, guys. Was there anything to learn? I was trying to learn about cows and y'all took me to waffles. Hey, so your man's gotta eat. Why is it that we've talked about like seven highlights and none of them have include cattle yet. There were, there was good cattle. I want to get to that part, but wait a minute. Those weren't the highlights though, Corbit, what else? So I still have my number one. Your number one. I thought one. Number one was Waffle House. No number one. One was me. Y'all leaving late at night to go back to my Airbnb and having some jackass on the road. Hi Beam me. Oh, I said to Swerve off the road and I'm like, whoa, somebody's trying to rub me off the road when you're blinding folks. And I was behind Joe and I freaking, yeah. What about Get, because I saw him, bright Lights, Corman retaliated. Call this asshole not live this town. And then it was freaking Vince. It was Vince. He was all mad'cause he went and got his coffee and somebody had their brights on on it. Car. I mean, my goodness. I'm just trying to get home. It was a rental car. I didn't know where the Bright Adjuster was. It's supposed to be automatic. I bet Vince doesn't go out past dark very often. Oh, I do all the time not to get coffee. Did you put the bright lights on the lady at the Dollar General when you got your coffee? No, I would never do that. Yeah, I wouldn't. Did you go to Dollar General? Yeah, of course I did. Where else would I go? So you saw her right? Be right before we did. Yeah. Yes, she said, and she said, she said, honey, you look like you've had a long day. I said, it's been a long week. She said, well, go home. Maybe it'll be better tomorrow. She said it, listen sweetheart, we've got a sale at on Saturday at five and I'd love you to be there. Yeah. You could have had her come serve. You know what she said to Corbin? She said, I need to see your id and what's your birthdate? I need to type in the date. That's what she said to cor. That's all we got outta her. Even she has to, uh, when she buys cigarettes, she has to type in the date. She said she still has to type in the date and she works here. And I was like, but what if, what if you check yourself out? She said, oh, there's somebody in the back. They gotta come check me out. Oh yeah. You're not allowed to check out yourself. Okay. Alright. So to the meat of the episode, Corbin wasn't with me on part of the tour. Um, I started my trip actually at Ingram Angus, so that was fun to see everybody there meet up Vince with Vince and Herod And who else was in your entourage? Wilson Meen Was there? Wilson Wilson? No. They all just follow Vince around like a puppy dog. No, no. They were right. He drives'em places. Yeah, they just drive. That's bougie. Yeah. And Har had these, Haron had these expensive little binoculars that he left in Vince's truck. Oh yeah. About, yeah. Did he get'em? What were they, what were they called? Ov ss Swarovski or Ky or some, yeah, they tried to talk'em out of'em, but he was pretty, they're expensive. Those bad boys are expensive. They're expensive. So anyways, that was a fun sale to go to get, to get to see a lot of people that also listen to the pod there. And, and I want to give a disclaimer on the behalf of all of us though. Uh, there'll be somebody we missed. There were so many listeners we saw and people we've met before and people we haven't met before. And I apologize if I don't mention your name, uh, or if Corbin or Vince doesn't because there were just a lot of people and it wasn't that it wasn't impactful to meet you. Um, glad we had the opportunity and to some of you that we've met before, whatever, and didn't get to spend as much time. I mean, it's a really interesting trip. I told Corbin this before, when Corbin and I have spent time together, it's like these are your very best friends, the people you spend the most time with. Devote as much of your energy to, but we'd never met in person. We had never met Vince in person. Correct. And so Corbin had, I guess, but, um, and Corbin and I had spent time together, but never the three, couple times. But I've been there with the two of you. But you two have never been in the same place at the same time. Correct. And I've been in the same place as Corbin. Right. And Eve's, but not with Eve's Vince's either. And so that was another fun little wrinkle to our trip. Um, great. So anyways, I enjoyed my visit to Ingram's. Uh, Corbin did go Corbin. We went to Buck Snort. We had a nice trip to Buck Snort. Have you put your seasoning on anything yet? I forgot about it. I think Cor in the truck. Hey, Corbin didn't get to go to Josh's did he? Corbin didn't get to go to Josh's. I didn't get to go to Josh King's. We left Ingram's and went to Josh King's. Oh, I, I was gonna mention Josh is on my list. Oh, I'm sorry. So who went? Wilson and Herod? And me and you and Oh, Meen went too. Meen went, yeah, because his transmission's still in the creek. How about that creek of Josh's? Oh my gosh. That's gonna be like a million dollar bridge to put. No kidding. Nice set of cows though. Yeah, it was a, I meant to ask him if that cow calved that rainfall. She did. Did she? No, she did. She was a renovation. She was a renovation. Was a renovation. I'm sorry. Yes. He sent us a video of it. No, you don't ever check your Texas, I'm looking. You go look in there and you'll see Myna, kepper calf. She's beautiful. Little legion calf, I think is what it is. No, no. Mm-hmm. He sent it just to you because he didn't send it to me and you. Oh, he must have felt judged by you. Oh, uh oh. Spilled the beans. This is what happened. Actually, you know what? Here it is. He sent it to me and you, Joe. He just, that's what it was. Oh, I'm just kidding. He didn't send it to me. Yeah, no, Vince is lying because I looked up the Josh King only text and it hasn't been tended to in a while. I'm just telling you, the last thing I got is a picture of a bull standing in the field. It would've been Monday at 4:57 AM my time. 6:57 AM your time, which is why you would've missed it, is my guess. And it what? No, I don't have that dude. Anyway, go ahead. So anyways, we had a good trip at Josh's. I absolutely love that guy. Um, it was great to see his cow look, this is what I have. I don't have any pictures. Well, some of them text messages Implicate yourselves. Yeah. Oh, not delivered, Vince. I don't have anything. Huh? Anyway, go ahead. So yes, that cow CAD on Monday at 4 57 Pacific. Then Corbin and Spencer and I. Then we got to Vince's on Friday night. No, you went to Bucknor and then what'd you do? No, we went to first. No, we went to your house first and we toured all the Paris. Remember? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We went bony through everything and Corbin kept getting stuck in his truck and I had to turn. Why didn't you just leave it in four wheel drive? Why you keep taking her hubs out? Because some of those turns that you have to make coming outta your gates. It'd be like you, you can still leave your hubs engaged and shutting it off. Well, I know. I don't know. I'm sorry. I apologize for doing things unlike you. Would've I put the hubs in and out on that pickup? Don't you point your sperm at me of all. Why are you wielding that thing around like it's a weapon. I turned, lemme take a picture of it. I turned the hubs in and out of your truck more than I've ever turned them out on my truck or take a picture. Where did you go? Where did you go together that you had to. That you had that, that you were doing the hubs? He just did it as I was getting, that was short place because remember when I was getting the gates, I was doing it. Oh. I was putting his hubs in and out at the gates because it was taking them so long. But anyways, then after that we went to Buck Snort and Buck Snort. One thing I would say about Tennessee Corbin, wouldn't you agree? Very, very, very diverse. Yeah. As a state. Yeah. Yeah. I like that about it. BTS place is really cool once they get some of that, you know, the way I understood it, buck Snort was a lot, just trees whenever they started. Oh dude. It's 4,000 acres and it's mostly still just trees. I would bet that he don't have over 500 acres of grass. I bet he is got less, right? Oh, it's less for sure. Um. But his owner's really rich. Rich in really rich. Rich, rich is his name. But he's all story. That's what I was saying. Well, you said his owner's really rich. That's not what I meant. That's why I clarified. But anyway, he's really into like conservation and stuff for hunting. Yes, yes. And he doesn't want fences and that's his passion. And he doesn't want fences. And so Meen has all these, the dog collars on his cows that tell him where to go and everything, right? Yeah. And, uh, tell where to go. Take a left up ahead, whatever. Beep, beep, beep, beep. It's like a toner for them, like the dog. One collar when they get to the ends underground fence and the cow's like, better not go that way. Anyway, that was a super cool place to see. And his owner, rich. Is really supportive of the cow deal. Really supportive of the ranch. And he's hilarious. And he is hilarious. Like we had a ball with that guy. We, if it wasn't for Vince's sale being what, in a couple hours, we probably would've stayed. And it's probably better that Jason got us out of there. Yeah, we would've had a big time with him. He was fun, man. Funny gosh, we laughed so hard. Um, but nice set of cows too there. We got to see the new bull lit up. Um, lived up. We got to see him lit up, got in a fight. Him and Zil got in a fight. What, how they weren't even close. Is this breaking? That's what he told me today. Evidently lit up, went on a hike and found Zignal and got his rear end whooped. Vince Zig Zignal took him out. He didn't not have a dog collar on, lit up. Did not have his neck. His neck is too big. He would've just went down the frigging road. His neck is too big and walked right to signal I be and signal made quick work of that. Nice wood fits. Oh yes, he tore it. That fence was nice to hell, dude. Oh man. So who won the fight? Zig. That's my doll right there, baby. That's my dog right there. Did, did he hurt the other bull? He didn't say all that. I need to ask him. He'd probably be ups. I, he was texting me last night night. He would've told me. I think he would've told me that what was going on. But everybody, everybody was there to try to break up the fight Rich and memory and Jason and all these people that were hunting. Oh, well we were there on opening day of Turkey season as well. Yeah. They got up at three o'clock in the morning to go kill a Turkey. Like how would, how would you like to be roaming around that place at three o'clock in the morning? Not knowing where you're at. Yeah. You're like roaming around on the road and here comes a bull. Squatted down. Squatted down, hiding behind some brush to shoot a Turkey. And this bull just plow your, he's just looking for somebody to fight too. He's, I'm sorry. I might would be tempted to shoot him if he was coming at me and I was sitting there. Spooky. Yeah, that's what I'm, I think, I think Buck Snort is the only place I went that was as similar to where I live to where when the lights go out, like it's dark. You don't see any lights? I don't think At Buck Snort? Probably not. No. Probably not. Like your place, you could still see a couple lights here and there. Yeah. Buck Snor ISS country. Like Bus North's country country. I li I liked it a lot. I thought it was super cool and I can't, in 10 years that place is gonna be freaking awesome.'cause the stuff that they're doing, they're just gonna be further down the road and Right. It's gonna be so cool to look at. Well, and I think what the, the thing that seems to fire rich up is as they open up more ground for grazing, it probably opens up better hunting ground too. Probably. So. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I was saying when we were driving through, I was like, you could just take a strip straight through here and you're gonna make the hunting better by opening this up. Right. Um, and you know, how about that lake? Oh man. Listen, who Ziplined, who? Ziplined. Uh, Amy, you're taking her back. Amy Famous since she's zipping. I I've done it. Oh, I bet your big butt's been up there on, you know how fast I got going. I bet you got gravity was working. You have to measure it in kilometers. Listen, there was the, the brakes were, the brakes were smoking by the time I got done. You did you, did you get to the goats or did you dip into the water before you got to the goats? The, I, well, I dipped in half my body got in the water and then, no, I'm kidding. You couldn't pay me enough to get on that thing, dude. There's no way. What about the, the jet skis? There's two of those. Yeah. For you. One frame.'cause you used to have those, didn't you? Oh, yeah. Did you just give yours to Meen? No, my, did you not see mine up in the chi pit? Oh, Amy told me about that. That she said, we're gonna blow it up. We're gonna explode it. She said, the boys are gonna blow it up. And I think it just wouldn't take but a little bit of time to just fix'em. Hell, that's what she said. Well, I think Vince and Nate hate fun, actually, is what I think. That's not, but they have fun, hating fun, right? It's not exactly, exactly like, it's like a, it's a thing. It's a whole thing for both of'em. They're like, I a lot fun. What can we do to not have fun today but laugh while we're not having fun? Let's, hey, I have a fun every day, just not doing fun things. It depends on how you look at it. Right. Okay. We gotta keep working through this. So then we went to Vince's sale. I don't think we're in a hurry. We're we got nothing? We're not even the sale yet. I know. We're not to the sale yet. I mean, like this, this thing's gonna go on. We've been recording for 40 minutes and we've covered absolutely nothing. It's, I was worried we weren't gonna have enough content. We've only come up with it. We get, we get here today. We get here today. We're like, so what are we talking about? Like, I don't know. We, we didn't do the disclaimer in the very beginning that this episode is not gonna be informative at all. Right. Well, it'll inform you of something. It'll inform you that if you're ever touring Tennessee, spend five minutes looking at a map and mapping these places out before you do what I did, which is drive from one end to the other. End to the other end. I tried to tell you that, so did yak. Yak had a big plan that he wanted me to change my flight flying to Memphis. After being on the outskirts of Memphis, I'm okay staying in Nashville. I would definitely do the extra driving to not go to Memphis. It's scary. I would agree. And what was that river town I was in? That was kind of scary. What one was that? One called Charlotte or something, but it wasn't North Carolina. The one with the houses on the stilts. I don't know. Around here. Is it floods? Is it floods around here? It's in your state. Yeah, but like around here. Like towards Wilson's or Towards, no, towards LUTs. Loots is between, it is between Loots or LUTs or whatever you call it in Memphis. Listen, do you want to know something? Joe? You've probably been to these towns as many times. Nobody. Nobody even goes that way because there's a four lane that goes straight over to it. I must have had the wrong settings on my phone. Why didn't you? Because that's what I text. You ask. I asked you, I said, is today garbage day? Or do these guys fill their pickups with garbage and just drive around with it? Yeah. That doesn't tell you, Hey, how do I get to meetings that says, is it garbage day meetings? We went a weird way. Or not even meetings over. Dude, it's the same interstate. Do you know what's crazy? Down? Crazy. We went Beaver Puck Road. Beaver Park. Beaver South from South Beaver Dam Road. Beaver Dam Road is awful. Could you imagine pulling a gooseneck through there? I can imagine drinking too much coffee and driving through there. I know that. And talking to my long FaceTime. Who's that guy with you? Yeah, so when we pulled up to Vince's sale though, which I'm okay, let's not jump ahead. So anyway, you drive two and a half hours, you drive two and a half hours and there's just houses, but there's no people. It's like there's a house on your right and on your left the whole time, but there's not a house behind the one house. Everyone just lives on the highway. Yeah. It's ridiculous shit I've ever seen. So there's town it's called, it's called Population Road Front Property. It's weird Road Front. What do they do behind the houses? Farm shoot stuff. Whatever. I think Shoot stuff. Yeah. I definitely think shoot stuff. Oh, we Tennessee's a state of blowing stuff up. I, I think they also store things. That's our motto. They store a lot of things they don't need. Oh my God. How many st. Little storage buildings does somebody need? There is more storage business than, Hey, what about Rick's barbecue? How many of those are there? Yeah, I thought he was your friend. Is he your friend? Yeah, he's my friend. He's a good friend. I bet Rick, I bet. Rick's a big old boy. He's a big boy. He's got 15 barbecue places. Played that building. He could turn a semi around in. That's the headquarters, that's corporate. That's where they Hey, they cut up their own meat there. Yeah. Huh? That's where they do all the smoking. Oh. And all the, they divvy and they drive the stuff, the restaurants, all the plates and cups and so they don't cook it on site. The original one they did, but he's too big. You can't cook at 15 different stores. And it'd be the same. You just assemble it. That's, that's like a Waffle House corpsman. You can't expect cooking there. So what do they do? Put in their Yeti cooler and drive it to the place? No, they prepare, they precook everything. And then when they go to the places they warm it up or whatever. So, uh, scale of one to 10, how good is Rick Rick's brisket? He don't have brisket. So what, so this is a, this is a small time barbecue deal that became big. And so they've got Eckerd sausage and potato salad. No, they, they like, it's good, it's edible, but I mean, it's not that one small guy in the back cooking type barbecue. It's not like jps. No. Have you, have you been to jps? Jps? Yeah. Restaurant. How good was that Dad? Gum corn? Yeah. I've been to jps restaurant. What was in that? Is it really, really nice? Um, it's not what you think it'd be. It's not a dump, but it's old. It's, it's not fancy. He said they served 300 steaks on a weekend. Yeah. It's not a dump, but it ain't fancy, man. That I've had a lot of brisket. And that brisket was good. It was pretty good. What was in that corn? For real? You need to tell Amy that. I don't know, but it's delicious and spicy. I like that. It's a little spicy. Oh, I probably like that as much as I like the brisket corn too. That corn is my fave. Yeah. And they have, you said, did you eat the potato salad? No, they didn't. Did you have the potato salad in Ingram's? Uhuh? Oh man, it was good. Is it white or, or yellow? Brisket? White. It's like ranch potatoes. Oh. Them other potatoes are, I'm not a potato salad guy, but it's, it's, yeah. Hickory House. Do you, you know what I did on Friday night at Vince's sale, I went and put a, uh. They were out of drinks in the, in the cooler and so I wasn't sure they had big stacks of drinks on the side over there, but I didn't wanna put a bunch of drinks in there if they weren't gonna ice a bunch more down before the sale the next day. So I got one Coke Zero'cause there was no regular soda and I went and put it in the ice chest and then I turn around five minutes later and fricking Wilson's sitting there drinking it after I put it in there. Hey jerk off. I put that in there. That was for me. He was like, oh my bad. I was like, oh yeah, I just put one. I you, if I had known you one, I put one in there too. Well just enjoy it. Okay? Yeah, I have a Coke and a smile Corbin. You know, the only thing I felt really bad about Ben Vince on his sale was. That Tennessee weather was incredible. The whole four or five days I was there, except for when Vince's sail was happening. It was hot. It was hot. It was hot. Dude was, when the, when the clouds were in front of the sun, it was fine. And then as soon as the sun poked out, it was boiling. It was hot. Was it?'cause there was no breeze. There was no breeze, no, there was a little tiny breeze at every now and again. But Did you get some rain Vince since then? We got some rain last night. Oh good. A little bit, a little bitty bit. I think we're all finally a little bit, uh, have a little bit wetness going on, so I don't, we're supposed to be towards the end of the week. After Vincent's sale, I went out to Yaks and Winbush places. They're like on the far west side. We talked about that. Not think on the west side. I don't know. Tennessee has all these different directions. West, whatever. West, all these di It is the same directions you have. Yeah, but you guys are obsessed about'em. You're like, I'm in the middle West. Left part. No, I don't say that. The middle south, northern part. Have you ever heard how they describe Florida? No. Panhandle What? Nevermind. Anyway, it was dry over there. Corbin. I mean like dry. Dry. Those guys, well they got rain the last couple days that we didn't get. Well, that'd be good. They probably, what? They probably don't get as much annually anyways. Huh? I don't know. But they told me like across from Y Yak Lee's place, there's this fellow that farms a lot of corn and, and Yak said on any year, not just in like normal, average or whatever he is like that corn should be knee high right now. And I was like, really shouldn't even be planted yet. And I, I swore he said, NEHI, I might be mischaracterized. You couldn't even tell something was planted. Corbin. Yeah. Around here it's little. When did you plant Vince? I haven't What are you waiting tomorrow? Tomorrow. We needed some rain. Oh. Needed a little rain. You got your little rain and now you're gonna have nice weather to plant. Yeah. Are you making fun of my little rain? He, Nancy, you were getting Nancy about that cover crop field, weren't you? I went out there yesterday. They still have a lot to eat. I'm ready to kill it. You ready to put half the, the entire cow herd? Move them into that field. Let'em mob graze it. If you could start farming that thing. I need the paraquat it bad. Oh my gosh. Does paraquat just kill everything? Is it like Roundup? It's way worse than Roundup. There are worse things than Roundup. Well, Roundup kills every grass I got. Well, when, when things are Roundup resistant, you go get paraquat. Oh, and that's what they dumped out in the road in California and killed people. Yeah. Joe was spazzing out. It was not good. They haven't died yet, but that stuff is not, it's only deadly if you drink it. I'll try not to drink any then. Well, the, we can get the side by side that you stored it in. The stupid video that they make you go watch to learn how to handle it. It's like, don't put it in a, it's, it's green. Don't put it in a Gatorade bottle and put it in a refrigerator. Well, who does that? Yeah. You know what you shouldn't do? Don't get a funnel and pour it into your ear. Good idea. Yeah. Right, right. Anyway, so the bad part is somebody had to have done that for them to make the video for it. Oh. Do not put in your hand and rub your eyes. Correct. I appreciate the heads up. Don't bathe in it either. Yeah. Yeah. So, Vince's sale, Corbin, do you have any comments on that? How about being at the, the Shady Brook facility? That was pretty cool. Was my speech Okay? I didn't even, I didn't even listen to it. Good. Thank you. I blacked out. I really didn't listen to it. So I need to re Can you redo it right now? Do you remember, you remember in old school when they had that debate and Will Ferrell blacked out? Yeah. And he don't even, that's how I feel when I give him a speech. Isn't that, isn't that the worst part of the whole, I mean, it's like, it really is. It's very important because you wanna show your gratitude. Yeah. And so that's why you get so nervous about it. It's because it's like, well, I want, I don't wanna forget someone and I wanna make sure that I'm appreciative. Right. And I want people to know my true feelings about how I feel about them being here. Right. And I don't wanna cry. That's literally what's going through my head. Like, don't cry, don't cry, cry. I don't cry. Don't cry, cry. No. Vince wasn't gonna cry, but he may make other, I might have throw up, but I, I wasn't gonna cry. How about Amy losing her book? Does that make you, oh my God. Oh my God. We had a special announcement from the sale manager. My, wait, you don't know all this? I don't think you knew all this happened because I didn't find out till the next day. Wilson's standing there with his book. He got, he got one of those, he got one of those spiral books. My mother-in-law goes running over there and jerks it out of his hand while he's biding on a cow. But that's my, yeah, you took it. He was like, oh my God. Who was this lady? Oh my God, this crazy lady is stealing my cat While he was bidding, I told Amy when she came up to me, I was like, look, you could have mine. I have all the prices right now. It was three lots in. It's like you could just start from now. But she made her lines. She's like, it's not my book. I already put so much work in it. And she made her lines. Yeah, she, she did. And guess where it was the whole time? Right where she put it, right where she put it underneath the, underneath the bar there. So get this, you know what this freaking wing nut next to me or below me on this podcast, ed, he writes in it like, this is her deal. Oh my. Listen, listen. I want you to know this is her deal. Amy is not, she was so offended when I wrote in that. So she was about to have a stroke, dude. She's so easy. Like she's, she's not a problem person. And, and she, this book is very important to her. She, she even, she goes, it's my ba uh, ba. She wasn't gonna say it was her Bible. It'd be like a lowercase B, you know? But she's like, it's very important. Orman grabs it. And he starts writing fake notes on his lot. He was looking at me like, no, that's not right. Why'd you start? That's not right. That's not why, why don't search both of them. Stop. Just stop. Vince needs this. Vince needs this. When he is loading out. I need to know if you paid or not. Oh, Corvin. I was like, come on man. But then Joe, Joe came in quick with the fix it, didn't you? Yeah. What, what, what did I need to fix it? You made my 1 0 4. I was trying to make, so I was trying to make my only, myself only pay 1000 and I was trying to confuse her. But Joe, yeah, this what he puts in the sale price. He puts$1,000 for that top bull calf. And so I turned the, I turned the one into a four. And your mother-in-law, the same lady that took Wilson's catalog. You know that lady? Yeah. She's like, oh, you make nice fours. That's a nice four. Oh, oh my god. Good. So that's, yeah, the top 10 is getting full def. You know what was fun though? Like, like sail aside. Sit. Getting to sit around after the sale and finally just bs. You can audit a table just on the bleachers, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just on the bleach. What do they do? They don't have, don't, don't dare sit at a table or anything just, well, Harod started it. He was leaning on that table, see like were you went over there to make him more comfortable. So he didn't be by himself. I would've walked by him with my plate being like, Hey dude, we're sitting at a table. Yeah, no, you can come or you don't come. I didn't mind. I didn't mind at all. I enjoyed visiting with him, although he bought cigars for us to smoke and we didn't even get'em. I didn't even get the cigars. I didn't either. Was gas load on That was what happened. Did everyone leave when Vince was hot and went and got in the office where there was air conditioner? Dude, I was so hot. I just needed to sit down in the air conditioner for just a minute, eat my food and I'm sure he, what he wanted was for every one of us to just follow him in there and just drive all of us. That's while he was trained. Oh, I didn't, didn't care. But I did feel bad because when we finally left the office, everybody was gone. There was a lot of people gone and I didn't get this talk to him. But how about Eve's cuddling up with Nate's sweaty shirt?'cause he was so cold in that office was like, Corbin and I are talking afterwards, we're like, there was some shirt in there that Nate, like Eves cuddled up in and he is like, Nate goes, I took that off. It was all covered in sweat. I just, oh, isn't that disgusting? Why didn't we get a picture of that? And he was literally literal as a blanket. I know he using it as a blanket. And so Josh's kid, whenever we, uh, whenever me and Joe and Spencer finally got to the sale, Josh is inside the sale sale barn and, and Jake's standing outside, planted the corn of the trough. And I walked by and I go, Hey Jake, what are you doing? He said, Hey. Hi. How's it? Good, good to see you. Who's your friends? He was talking about Joe and Spencer. Who's your friends? Who's your friends? Welcome, welcome. Well, I had him out there welcoming people. Vince had this, he was hilarious. Is that your idea or is that, is that an thing? Amy, we went, we went somewhere and they had it, and Amy's like, we gotta keep doing this. Oh, it's freaking awesome. This little tr he's got full of whole kernel corn. I don't know if it's the insecticide kind or not. Yeah, we, we make sure it was actually clean in the bin, but when we got it out, we hose it down with some chemicals. Okay, good. Good. Make sure we just. Yeah, we was bring some paraquat on it. Yeah. We put some paraquat on it and some round up. Those kids play, they had little excavators and tractors and all this stuff there. Driving through there. And at the end of the night, there's all these kind of half rummy little kids. Right? Well, Jake was one of'em. He was. He was. I mean, they were wound up and they were tired. Corbin starts spinning them around and corn started flying out of his clothes. It was so funny, dude. It was in his boots, went flying. It was in his boots. You know how bad that hurts. And he didn't get over. And he didn't care. He didn't. Didn't care. And how about Jake wanting to have a better number one better. Yeah. Number one, he wasn't having it. And we wanna be number one. Number one. So, so Josh buys a boy, and here Jake is holding up the number one. Josh is just shaking his head the whole time. Yeah. But that's what makes it fun. That's the best. Absolutely. Those are the best memories, dude. Absolutely. I'll tell you what I think that's probably. What this episode is ends up being about, is hopefully we could you guys to understand how much fun we had. Like, man, Corbin, you and I had this much fun at Denver, but it was different having Vince also. Y'all didn't have fun with me. I was in Denver. Yeah. But I was a little flat. Yeah. And use a little cardboard. And you didn't shine your brights at me. I didn't shine your bright. Yeah. It, yeah. Yeah. And it's a different setting too. I, I feel like that that setting is a little bit more, it's a little bit like it was serious for Vince, but we were able to not be Yeah. But you took some of the, the stress of it having to be so serious off of me. It's a different setting. Like Denver is stuffy. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Stuffy. You got all, I'm glad we did that. You got all the cowboy hats there. I'm glad we didn't distract. Yeah. So hey, this was a top 10 moment. We had a bet on, on whether it would be three or more cowboy hats, and I lost the bet. I thought there would be less than three. There was like six total. There's six. And not including ringman. And then, but which one did you lose? I lost the people in overalls, I said than two. And there was one? Yeah, there was one. I was really sad that he had a shirt on underneath it too. Seemed unn that he had a shirt on. Seemed unnecessary. Like why you wearing overalls if you're gonna wear a shirt under it? So two things. You didn't go with me to Corbin that I had a big time. So everybody listens to this podcast, know I'm, I'm Catholic, Catholic to the core, and Amy said, I need to go to stop. Yeah, there was a, there's a church that was built in like the 1840s or fifties or sixties. I don't know. We never got to talk to you about that. Did you go to the one in St. Joe or the one in Lawrenceburg? St. Joe. And it was incredible. It was so neat, man. It was, it was the most incredible. There's, there's different orders to the mass, which I won't get into. It's not a Catholic pod, but the, the modern, um, form of the mass called the Novus. And you either have that or traditional Latin mass, but this was the most traditional I'd ever seen the Novus done. It was super, super cool. Very, very jam packed church. Lots of young families, young priests, um, very picturesque, very traditional. Just so cool. I, I would say. That would be a top five churches I've ever attended in my life. Well you guys, that's wild, sir. You just left the Vatican. I know exactly. I just left the Vatican in Italy's Cool. And that would've been a top five church experience for me. Um, super, super cool, great people. And I also went to ZWT, I went to Zw. Well, you didn't go with me to Yaks and Windbush either. Where Yak made some incredible ribs. Thank you. David. Yaks wife, Melissa. And then he could've brought some over here. Was that the first time he met his wife? No, I was not driving back over there. No, yak could've brought'em day before. Well, he could have. Yeah, he could have. But, but Joe, was that the first time you had met Yak Lee's wife? I had never met Yak Lee's wife before, and I don't think I'd met Windbush in person. Oh, I dang sure have. That was the first time I met Windbush. He's a good, but you mean Thomas, bad luck, Windbush, who? Oh. It was still smoldering when I got there. The barn was smoldering. God bless. Yeah, he, he don't have, he doesn't have any luck at all If he has, if it's not bad. No. No, but what a good dude. Just nice visiting with him. Nice. Seeing his tractor that got smashed.$50,000 cabbies waiting on to come out of France on this John Deere tractor. Gosh. And the tractor's outta commission. Oh, it's fine. No, you could drive it. It just has this crashed part of the, I mean, as nice as that tractor is, he's gonna want it cherry, I'm sure you know, you wouldn't want to just take the insurance money and run. You'd want to get the cab fixed. I'm gonna have to call and see what kind of tractor it is, because I know you're not gonna be able to tell me. It was a big one, Vince. Ooh, big E oh six. It was real big and it had the three things in the back. There's like three little connectors and then a another thing that you put the the thing. Okay. How about ZWT? Oh, so he has more weeds than you do. Oh, I know. That's why I can't go over there in the spring. Dude. I have Does it just drive you nuts? I start having a panic attack in the Ranger. Oh my God. I'm like, you're making your cows eat these weeds. I can't even be in this pasture. Get me outta here. They absolutely love the weeds and they're thriving on the weeds, just so you know. Um, no, I had a great tour with Will. Absolutely outstanding. And I've known Will actually longer than I've known Vince just from a peripheral. I have. I have. It's not like that's, but that's hurtful. I've known him longer. Um, where'd you meet him at? Never. Well, maybe a sail here or there. The valley. Huh? What? Probably at Shoppings Valley. Huh? Maybe. Or Denver. Or Denver. Yeah. So I guess, was he, he wasn't in Denver when I went. Yeah, they came, I been a lot of, I've been a lot of times. Yes, he was, him and Dallas were on the, the, on the man on the street deal. Oh. Do you know what happened? I booked their, yeah, I didn't get to see, oh, he was having the continental breakfast. Sorry. Probably. But anyways, the con the continental breakfast probably in the room, I mean at the hotel. So anyways, uh, I had a great tour with Will, if you're ever in the area and wanna see a lot of cattle. He's not far from Nashville. You could see a lot, a lot of cattle in a quick amount of time. Um, and was he just driving real fast or what? You were not as fast as, as Vince was. What are you talking about? Humming? It was hum. Come on. It was getting dark. Yeah. No, I know. Did you wanna see all the recipients? I was trying to find the, the one cow. I came back the second day and saw the recipients. Yeah, I saw, I saw the whole thing. But Corbin left. He took off. Joe and Josh are like, uh, like, oh, did you, you know, we saw this cow and this cow and this cow. I'm like, oh, I'm glad we went and saw all the fris instead seeing the cows. But I got to see the, uh, there was a renno out of oh 5, 2 2. That was a really nice cow. She's a very nice young cow. She's sweet. She's sweet. Yeah, she's sweet. And she had a big old, she had a big old calf on her. What was it, Vince? What's she got on her? I think it's Allegion. Is it Claudio Legion? Legion? No, it's either Legion or Blue Blood. I think it's Allegion. I think it's Allegion too. Joe wants it to be Allegion. No, I'm sure it's Allegion And, and Joe's home. We got to see the top secret cows too. Like 50 six's mother. Oh yeah. Xts. A 44. Oh four. A couple high countries saw the oh oh four Bull. Ooh. You didn't see him either, huh? Uhuh? No, but I saw the Clarion out of d You talking about Drifter? Drifter? The drifter. The drifter, yeah. Yeah. He was pretty cool. He was pretty cool. So, huh? Yeah, we saw a lot of fun stuff. That was a fun trip, man. I hate traveling without my family. I absolutely hate it. But, um, this was a trip that I really did enjoy. I think it was, it's hard, but you're ready to go home. Stayed in that house together too, though. That was fun. Yeah, that was, that was, I like frat boys. You know, I like being able to, I like, I like centering it around, going to Vince's sale, but I really wish we could have chopped it up and sorted cattle with Vince more, because I feel like that's what we were lacking. From, well, even those, those three ranch tours. That sounds fun. Those three ranch tour on be like, I like those three ranch tours I went on. I was like, man, I wish all actually four of'em. I wish Vince was with us. I wish he was with us at meetings. I wish he was with us at Yaks and Wind Bushes and ZWT. It would've been, it would've made it that much more fun, but it's something to look forward to on the next trip. It's so hard for when you've got family at home. It's so hard.'cause it's like Spencer, it was his daughter's 10th birthday on Sunday and so we were zooming home to get home. He didn't even come. It was Miles's 18th birthday on Monday when I got home at 3:00 AM What a piece of crap on Tuesday. Missed it. Yeah. I missed, can tell you, I can tell you, uh, I believe more than once, Vince, your sale has fallen on Miles's birthday weekend and so every time it's I've I've wanted to come and I'm like. It ain't happened. It's a lot of people's birthday on that weekend for some reason. And, and how about Easter Falls? Sometimes probably on the weekend before too, and that throws a wrench in things. But no, it was a great time. Um, I'm, I'm glad y'all came. Vince has a lot of friends. A lot of people love Vince. Oh, I don't know about that. They do. Oh, I would say for sure is because I'm a big teddy bear. A big grouchy teddy bear. Big grouchy teddy bear. You know what I think it is, cor, I think it's because his marketing style matches his customer base, which is no marketing, no customers. I don't know. You market ish? Ish. You market ish? Yeah. No, mark. I throw, I throw spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks. I think it's just that there's no bologna. There's no bologna. Isn't it? Marketing just a grungy word too. It really is. It's become one. Yeah. I notice gross noticed that I had a topic today that had the word marketing in it and it, it really wasn't about marketing. It was more so about helping people market their cattle who don't really have a market. But because it had the word market in it, Vince is like, I don't even wanna talk about it. And I don't blame him either. I don't like it either. I don't think he is stupid. When you saved that text, he just like down, I'm like, okay, well let me just change one word to make you like it this well, but would you say Corbin, that Vince markets with a high level of integrity that matches himself. Absolutely. And so I think one of the things that's unique about Vince, and one of the things that I look up to about Vince and a like a lot is that whenever someone asks him about a cow, there's no bs no. If the cow's not perfect, he doesn't point out what she does. Well first he points out her flaws before he tells you what's good about her. And I really just appreciate that. Um, and it's something that I try to mirror too, and I try to be completely honest with people whenever they're asking me about stuff. And I think sometimes it, uh, it might cost you a sale on a certain cow, but I think you gain someone's trust. And so when they ask you about a different one, um, and, and even if it's a, if they have a flaw about this cow, it doesn't mean, hey, don't buy the cow. It means I want you to know what you're gonna have to fix later on. I want you to know what to expect because I don't want you going in blind thinking you've got this perfect animal. And how, how many times do we say this? None of'em are perfect. But yet no one's willing to say, Hey, this is why this one isn't perfect. And Vince is, and that's what sets him apart. And at the end of the day, um, Vince will still be there, I think, because of his honesty. And I think a lot of people will crash and burn and burn bridges, but Vince will still be there. Appreciate his integrity. Well, don't you feel like people came to his sale to buy things because they were hoping to add some sort of genetic material to their cow herd or program? Vince has some really neat pedigrees and cow families. He really does. There's some neat stuff. I think I'm running out of them though. Well, I mean, we could talk on the next episode about how you're gonna have to quit selling all your good shit. Really?'cause there's some stuff that Vince sells and I'm like, I couldn't sell that one. I'd have to keep on that. Well, you can't keep all of them, dude. You can too. You gotta sell a Flo Acad every once in a while. You, that's what I'm saying. I can't keep, yes sir. I can't hoard that Flo Acad all by myself. Well, I'm just gonna tell both of you that I will sell Glenda over my dead body. Everything else is marketable. But I ain't, I ain't tainting the Glenda's. They're staying pure. Well, I think Corbin, I hope that if you came here, actually I think that's probably where the three of us are most parallel. I would imagine that the type of customer that we saw at Vince's was probably a lot like the type of customer we see at your place. Absolutely. Type that. I would think so. Place. It's, it's personal relationships between us and the cattle have fit those folks. And then there's some fringe things that happen. There's high sellers here or there that go to, uh, a buyer who isn't a normal core part of your, of your business. Um, they aren't repeat buyers. They just saw some value and they went and bought it and spent a little extra money on it. Um, but the core, the backbone of your customer base are people you have personal relationships with, which is why sometimes it's, I don't know, I, I feel like I'm judged a lot by what I do, by people, a little bit outta context. Um, just my speaking to myself because they don't realize that I'm doing things. I'm making genetic choices as a response to what my friends and customers have asked for. Yeah. And so I feel like that's what Vince has done too, where you see certain choices that he's marketing, um, those are things that his customer base has asked for. And uh, unfortunately because Vince sells females, that also aligns with what some of his goals are. And so I think that points to the next episode or one down the line, the struggle of trying to build this program still and keeping some of those good ones and running out of'em and how you balance that. But I definitely saw an educated buyer base who comes looking for something specific to Shady Brook. Uh, I think all many of those people could have their addresses stolen and you know, their phone numbers and you can't sway a lot of those people away. Um, I'm not saying that I would try that, I'm just saying those people are locked into Vince because he is, had the opportunity to. Sell them genetics and service that have worked in the past. Do you know what else was, do you know what else was really cool about going to Vince's sale and interacting with his customers? What they brisket, it's normal people. They talk to you like you're their friend and you are their friend and you've never met'em before in person. But yet, if the conversations are so easy, I You're not nervous. Like if, if I go to some places, like let's just say the convention for example. Oh man, there's a lot of people that just kind of intimidate you to go up to'em and talk to'em. And at Vince's sale, I, I felt so comfortable. I was able to just go up to random people while we were going through the cattle pins and just talk to'em because I felt like I knew'em and I felt like I, I didn't feel like I was being judged. You know what I mean? How y'all doing today? We'll have to find one you like in there. I didn't like none of them sounds the good. It sure is hot today, isn't it? Yeah. A lot of good folks. Hey, you know who we forgot? Uh, Randall's kids. Oh man. Uh, Ben, right? Ben. And which, uh, Hey, did you get your side by side fixed? No, it was ent messed it up too. Wasn't, uh, church's tort tore Upen? There was just some work. It was aid though. It was Aiden. Aiden tore up. That's so, yeah, it was Aiden because I remember, I remember it was Aiden because the Vince was talking to him. He is like, oh, don't worry. He can pay for it. He just sold the cow. He's got money now. You know what it is? It was a$20 cable shipper. Cable. Yeah. Yeah. It just got a little too, uh, excited. That thing I've noticed the thing over the winter was getting harder. Is it a Mahindra? No, it's a Ranger. A Mahindra. Oh, it's a real ranger. Been with a Mahindra. Shit. Why would I have a Mahindra? I don't know. Because, because that would be fun. Hey, at meetings. What did they have at Mahe? At meeting's One. What was that? It was a Mahindra. It was a rock, so it was freaking awesome. What are you talking about? You gotta see Rich's hunting. It's like a Jeep, but like a Jeep. That's not, oh, I've seen the Jeep thing. It's a Mahindra. Did y'all ride around in that? We weren't buy, no. We should have, but no. You took it side by side, right? Yeah, yeah. Took a side by side, and I thought we were running outta gas the whole time as the cage was broke. I'm like, Hey, I ain't trying to tell you your business here, but that thing's been blinking since we left. Maybe we should venture back that way. We came from, he was like, oh no, it's broken. Like. Like that is not how he talks. Not say mate, but he's from Australia. Come on. He says. He says, here's what Meen says. He says, Zig, let's go with welcome to around the globe, geography with Corbin. Come on. So I just wanna say I'm proud of signal Zig Kn proud of him. That's a good bull. It is a good bull. He's a good bull. I hope he is.'cause I bring all my heifers to. No you didn't. I bred half of them. I bred half of them. That's a good move. Good move. Yeah. Z nod. I just appreciated looking at a bull that's actually bred cows for some portion of his life. When you go to ranches and you don't see, that is very frustrating to me. And people are always, you know, I, I hope Jason wasn't this way, but I know that people get really self-conscious about if a bull looks in the right flesh or whatever. I'm like, dude, he looks like a bull that breeds cows. Well, that's why I sent, uh, just, I think it was a couple days ago, I sent you all a video of a, of a bull that, that I bought from Craze and all he's done is breed cows in the spring, in the fall, in the spring and the fall, the spring and the fall. And he's three and he's probably bred a hundred over a hundred cows between mine and David's place, David Little's place, and he's looks like a million bucks. So, hey, breaking news to podcast listeners. Anyone can make'em look awesome with sil. Anyone enough feed you can make anything look awesome. Absolutely. The bulls that are out breeding cows and, and this trip we saw quite a few bulls that were out breeding cows. Um, Herod has a bull he owns that we saw that was breeding cows. Saw blue blood was breeding cows. No. Herod's bull was in that bullpen. No, but he, no, he was in that bull run at the shop. Oh, okay, okay, okay. Honcho. Yeah. Yeah. He was in that, he was in that pen beside the driveway. Oh, hey. How cool was it to see too, like, like we see fake world social media stuff of like this big fat cow that's. But we go to fences and you actually have to spend time. And meetings was this way too. And I'm sure, uh, yaks and um, wind bushes was this way too, and, and wills for that matter. But you have to actually travel to get to see like they're not all in a one acre trap. They're out earning it in the hills. And I appreciate that sort of stuff too. Yeah. What was that little cow you liked at meetings? Like eight something, eight 50 4K, eight 40 5K. Yeah, something like that. Yeah. Just a nice little hardworking cow. You had a clar on. Yeah. Yeah, she had a clarion calf and then like Vince's, you weren't there'cause you had to leave early. You didn't get to see all the thin ones that were hard, the 44 0 4 and stuff. That, and this stuff's really cool whenever you and Josh go find a cow and then I talk to each of you and you each found the same, but y'all never talked about it. Um. Oh no, that's cool. It was tight. And then, you know what's else's really cool is that I already used 44 0 4. So I'm like, oh, oh cool. Maybe I'll have one like'em. So I hope they can find a gate. Yeah. Hey, shout out Aaron. Aaron said his 40 or 4 0 4 is don know where the gates are. Well, I will say, I don't know if this one knew where the gate was, but she was awesome to look at. She was out of a 9, 9, 6 9 or something. Right? Yeah. And then the other cow that we liked in there was a high country, don't you don't. Do you like the type I'm gonna put Vince fine. He doesn't know his cows unless he has a book with him. Whatever. What? She was a high country. There was a high country in there. I'm just trying to think of the one that you're talking about in with 32 15 in that same pen. Yeah, I know. I'm just running through my head. Who's in that pen? She was a big cow. There's a big cow. There's a big oh oh four in there. There was a big oh oh four, but there was a big high country too. Anyway, this is the really good part of the pod. So did it. So the, uh, you know, Angus updated the app and it's a bad day for me. It's so wonderful. But what's bad for me is that it kicked me out. Oh. And you don't know your password. And you don't know your password. I know my customer code. You and Wilson both obviously, but I don't know your, it begins with an R and then there's a zero and an eight, but that's as far as I know. So I'm gonna, and there's no, there's no way to click your birth date. Were you born in August? No, I could ask the dollar General lady. I'm gonna have to call Angus. That lady would know. I've been, I've been wanting to call since Friday afternoon. But they haven't been open. So I'm have a call's the morning. Here's the thing, am I the only person that finds it harder to read? Oh, okay. Take the navigating part out of it. It's great. The navigating part's great. The white, white on black instead of the black on white. Oh my What? Like and the font. It's so little. It's so little. The font. Oh, you guys are gonna have to learn to see. But, but it was built by people that don't use it, that that bright white is blind you while you're trying to read it. Before it was black with white letters. It was way easier to read. Oh, it's frustrating. Absolutely. I do think the setup, the, the confirmation, the way to find everything. Maybe not with the, you know, they should do one of those deals where you can just reverse the color.'cause they could do that. Pretty simple. Right. How do you even know you haven't touched in your code yet? Because I, yeah. How do you know? I can't go look at my herd, but I can go look at all the sales and the calendar. Oh, you can. Yeah. So like, I still can go look at sale books, which I've still been doing, but I just can't go look. I do like, hey, now all the negative crap that I was mad about. Seriously, when you just click on the sales and at the top it's sale reports or sale books. That is, and yeah. That's nice. It's, it, it really is pretty neat. Oh, that's good. Is that's, and you don't have to wait on it to load, like you used to have to wait on it to load forever. Yeah, it is, it does seem a little faster. Um, I didn't even know that was an option. What, so it looks a lot more like the website. It does, yeah. Maybe because when,'cause now when I push home, I'm messing around with it. Now I can, oh my God. There's way too much stuff on here. It is, it is too much for me. Oh, it's, but I could, you don't, you never click home. You never click home. Thank you. I stay, I stay in my herd. That's where I, that's my, oh, I see that little cow button. And see that's what I'm saying, like. The worst of it for me is just the white background with the little big, yeah. What if we Tiny black letters, dear Angus, can we reverse the colors? Yeah. Or make it optional, like, yeah, like I'll, I mean, outside of that, I like it. I do like it though. Not if, if you have time to just sit and mess with it. Yeah. I think it's, it's not what we're used to. So before, you know, we used to, could just hop right on there real fast and click, click, click and you're where you need to be. But it definitely is, but it's gonna get that way. It's gonna, yeah. It won't take very long. I just, it's hard to read. It feels like it's too many steps though, to get to what I'm used to. Honestly, I just clicked in 1712 and I'm clicking, it's taking me 4 1, 2, 3 clicks. Oh. So you can't just go click the tattoo and type. That's what I love. So one thing, one thing they still haven't fixed and they need to fix is when you pull up progeny of a cow. Yeah. And you gotta zoom. No, no. You can zoom that now. It's easy to zoom it, but you should be able to just click on the damn thing and it pull it up and then pull up the daughter. Pull up the calf, whatever. Yes. So I just, one thing when, and it has a hyperlink, like it's blue and you click it and it takes you nowhere. You should be able to just click that progeny and it should bring up the progeny. Something else. That's neat. See, I can't read it. It it's blinding. Did it do it this time? It just did it? Yeah. No it didn't. Oh, so it works now. No it didn't. So they fixed that. That's legit. No, they didn't. It didn't do it yesterday. The other thing is right here, you can click on the mother or the sire and it pulls it up. Oh, automatically, right? Yeah, yeah. Instead of you having to go in and then pick it in the pedigree. I wonder how much that cost. Could you imagine what that must cost? What? Well, I know that just making an uh app was like a hun. It was six figures, just having an app. Yeah, and I bet it's, I bet it's five x that now. And Angus's app is, honestly, it's pretty all encompassing. I mean, it does a lot of stuff they do. Honestly, it's all, have you been on the freaking, I know Joe has the Cemental deal. It's a mess. It is a mess compared to this deal. Very challenging. The Angus deal is they're way light years ahead. I don't know about the herford deal, but Yeah, look. Oh, the Herford deal. Look, Corvin. You can just zoom right in. Now on the progeny. See how, okay, go click the ca, go click one of the calves, click, click that blue link and you show, it'll show you. Click that blue link. The blue, the blue link's the birthday. It's gonna carry it to the calf. Nah, it shouldn't try it though. Watch. It will. I will be damned. Why wouldn't the blue it did it. Who? This is groundbreaking, but why is it the birthday? Who cares? Okay, so now we're gonna complain about that. Who cares? No, no. I'm just saying that doesn't make sense. This is monumental. Absolutely. It's useful. It's really okay. This is not my calf. I'm clicking on it. I got the swirling chow. There it is. And, and not only does it bring you to that, it brings you to the birth and weaning information and uh, the utter score. That's sick. That's cool. It's cool. Angus. See round applause. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Just change the background from white to black again. I would agree with that. And I need to write my password down so that I can go do all this stuff y'all are getting to do right now. I'm gonna call'em in the morning.'cause I, I'm itching to go through my, my, my, uh, inventory. Like it's pissing me off. I didn't realize how big, big of a manic I was by the way, until I can't go look through my cow. Like, like if I'm going through cows and I want to see a cow, like, oh, what'd she do last year? I don't realize how often I use that app whenever I'm going through my cows. Right. I agree all the time. It's awesome too. Yeah, I do like that you can access your pins, your herd management pins and stuff. Yeah. I actually think, I'm guessing I haven't talked to anybody at Angus, but this looks like a step towards moving us away from Ames. And you can use this whole mobile, maybe someday we can scan. Electronic gear tags with our phone or something, and just input data right off our phone. Birth weights. That's what I'm interested in. You know what I'm not seeing on here? What's that? You remember on your, um, your herd page, you could go log in. It's not on here. So you might, your third page, you might already be logged in. Mine won't. I have a log in deal. And it's it, and it, you know how on the old one it was, oh, mine's logged in. It would simply, no, no, no, no. Did y'all not have to re-log in the website to the website? So I think this is basically the website. Yes. Well, I mean it's, everything's, do you remember what I'm talking? You know what I'm talking about? You There was a button there that could click you into your login on the website. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Nobody ever needs this. It's not on here. I did. No, I did. No. Look. So go to, uh, go to my herd. Yep. And then click on inventory. Yeah. And you click on animal set and there's all my animal sets like I was online. I understand that. But before you had to go online before you had to go. Yes. That's what I'm saying. I know. I'm agreeing with you. Just shut up. I'm agreeing with you. Forget it. You know what? Shine your high beams at someone. Someone in a black half ton pickup today. Just'cause you hope it's me. I bet Vince isn't out past dark today. I know. I bet you he ain't past dark most days. I shine it off my head. The reflection. So, uh, how about all the armadillos? Did you notice the second day we left all the dead armadillos? I don't know. That's what those guys were hunting. Paraquat killed'em. No, they were not. I killed'em with paraquat. They're not hunting armadillos with dogs. I killed'em with paraquat. It's, they're hunting coons or something, right? Or house cats? No, they're hunting rat canons. Oh, okay. Mom beat them off back porch with the broom. They can come, they can hunt raccoons outta my garage right now because they've been getting in there. I know the garbage Joe. What trash pandas? What is it that you gotta go do tonight? I'm going something. Yeah, I'm going to a deal in Reno. I will tell you guys more about it on the next podcast. Perfect. Hey, let's, uh, so we might not have a guess for this podcast, but that's really our goal, right? Yeah. Next time. Yeah. It's really our goal. That's really what we're gonna work on. We need to, yeah. I think we're gonna, we're gonna talk about something that's kind of close to what all of us have been talking about. Um, we hope to talk about young producers'cause Absolutely. We know a lot of people who listen are young producers and it's wild to think, um, I know Vince and I have had this conversation, Corbin and I, not as much Corbin's younger than me by quite a little. Um, but it's four years sort. Like once quite, this thing becomes Yeah, but you, you act way younger. Yeah, you act like an immature little kid. Corvin, I know. Straighten up. So just young, young people. I mean, like, it seems like I've just finally got to where I've been wanting to get to and you better start thinking about getting it to the next generation now, which is kind of a wild conversation to have. But if we do want to incentivize young people, um, we gotta create opportunities for them. And there's a, there's something to be said about those people creating their own opportunities too. I don't want to take away from that. That's why we're here. But, um, if we want this industry to continue to work in this country, we're going to have to prioritize new producers into it somehow. I wouldn't disagree. I, I mean, I would like to learn how to incentivize, incentivize the younger, incentivize the younger generation to, to bail off in this because, um. Man, what a way to raise a family. And it's so rewarding. But at the same time, there's so many trials and tribulations and things you have to go through in order to keep it all together. And that's a big turnoff to young people that think about, well, do I want to come back and work on dad's farm or not? It's like, man, do I really wanna deal with all these headaches? So, um, but I'll tell you, Corbin, if anybody's made it, which I don't think they will, um, if anybody's made it to an hour and 40 minutes of this podcast, that has achieved absolutely nothing, they'll realize that this is an industry for an opportunity of genuine relationships with people and fun and just real connections with real people. I think that that exists in a lot of different vocations, but it's a lot deeper in ag, it's a lot deeper. I, I wanna say that most people don't love their job. Like we, like we love our job. There's days that I don't love it, but it's, that's when you're farming. Awful. And see, that's why I like row cropping. See, that's why I like row cropping. So, so it's to the point whenever I get to go on a trip like that, and I, technically I'm working, whenever I go to Shady Brook, I mean, I'm, I'm definitely working. Lucy's like, oh, so you get to go on vacation? And I'm like, no, I, I I love my job. I, I apologize for that. But that's where we're at. So Yak Lee called me when I was driving in the middle of the night from Wind Bush's place. So Windbush is like three and a bit hours from ZWT and I wanted to make it over there so that I was ready to go for an early morning tour. And then he had some other stuff happen. It was all good, but I was ready and prepared and Yak said, man, you guys have been hitting it hard.'cause I had told him where Corbin and I went. And then we were at Vince's and then started Ingram's, Josh King's, Vince's, then back to Buck North, then back to Vince's. And, and Yak said, I really admire your guys' work ethic and how you approach a trip like this talking about me and Corbin. And um, I think you touched on something really important. Corbin Yes, we, we enjoy it and have a, have a big time, but like you and I and Spencer we're setting our alarms, we're getting up early. We're, oh yeah, we're having fun and staying up late. But we were working because it was exp it's an expensive trip, right? We need to learn as much information we could. And if you're not gonna do it. I wouldn't even go if I wasn't trying to gain something from it. I mean, yeah, I was gaining something from it organically with I just get to hang out with my friends. But also at the same time, you use that experience in order to make your you yourself better in some way. Right? Like you're always like, I'm always looking to learn something. And that might not even be about the cattle, it might be about how Vince's funnel system works and how he moves his cattle through it, or about how, uh, buck Dog collars, buck Storts management, how they didn't have fences, but they had these collars that kept their cows in and the, apparently the bull needed one. He needed two. Hey, meeting, if you're listening, get one of them callers on that buller. He can again, just put'em together. Put'em together. He can have a double. What's funny is I never even thought about that. I didn't even think of that. He didn't have a freaking collar and I thought that fence around that would've been healthy enough where them two bulls would not have torn it up. But that stupid little wooden fence. I wouldn't have thought that they would even be worried about like, dude, that thing probably poor, that fence is like not even 40 inches tall. He busted through that thing. Like the Kool-Aid man busted through a brick wall. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Then Zig no was like, oh no, I'm gonna mess you up. And GNA was like, bring it on, boy. Yeah. Come here. I'll whoop your, whoop your Heinemann. No, I think that that, those two things, Corbin, everybody says, how do you find these bulls? And, and that's how you go. People call and they say, how, oh, what bulls are you using? Or How'd you find? Well, it's'cause we work, right? It's'cause we go and, and we joke about Aaron or Eves or any of these guys. The reason we know those guys is because we've been on tours with them before. And those people work too. They're out there actively trying to develop relationships and they're saying, okay, this guy sees'em how I see'em, or this guy doesn't see how I see him. So when he sees one and says something to me, then I know. Or, whoa, did you, did you see that 44 0 4 cow, Josh? Did you see that? 44 0 4 cow? And you start, you start learning whose opinion is most similar to yours. And then you find some bulls that, that work against different cows and stuff. And yeah, I don't know man. I, I think a lot of folks, uh, really, really enjoy the idea of this job. But if you, you do have to treat it a little like work too. You gotta do your work. I would agree. Yeah. And you'll be, be surprised. You'll be surprised. There's some, there's some stuff you're really wanting to look super good, that is just whatever, and there's some stuff you're wanting that to, to not look good, that you go, boy, I wasn't counting on this being nice, but it's a little different pedigree and it looks kind of cool. Those, uh, you know, those fancy pictures you see everywhere, they're not always the, they're not always the answer. You still have to get out there and see'em. Right. So you get out there and put eyes on'em because, uh, that world's so tired too. Oh yeah. It's so tired. I mean, not if you look at sale reports today, but I mean, in general, I'm, I'm sick of cattle that on the hoof don't match a picture I see. Of them. I'm just, I don't have energy for it or desire to be a part of it. I don't even, I would agree with that too. It's a black mark. Yeah. So, and if, and if it's pretty simple too. I mean, it's not like, it's not like you can't market your cattle. Accurately and still, and still have a picture that describes them. You know, I just, I, anyways, we could get off in the weeds about that too. We can get in the weeds about a lot of things. Like we can get in the weeds about how I'm the one that goes out and sees all these listeners places and then Corbin starts trying to become friends with them online. Who? Bandy. LNI did the same. Well, she asked a question and I just responded. She's like, do you do conventional or IPF? I did the same. I answered as well. Do you wanna know? She, she had 34 comments on there. She knows how to get the comments, don't she? Does she, does she ask the right questions? She ask. She does ask good questions. She provocative questions. Yeah, she does ask good questions. Like, did you know that generally orange cats are male? Generally things at Dollar General are a dollar. Right? So don't take a female orange cat to the vet to be neutered or do,'cause it's gonna have neuter spade, no spade. She took one that had to be re returned because it was neuter, not neuter, it was the elusive female orange tabby cat. Oh yeah. I can't, okay. Anyways, I'm, I'm done bringing up pointless stuff because I was gonna say are, why are cats so hard to tell their gender? It's ridiculous. But anyways, are you both done? She's a vet and she couldn't, are y'all done yet? She's a vet. What did you say? She is a vet. You know how close of a follower you guys are? I knew she was a vet. You kidding me, Mandy? Yeah. No way for real. Yeah, go real. Go Mandy. I don't know if she just maybe paid the fees or whatever. I mean, I don't know if she walks around with a stethoscope. What the fuck? We need more fee. We need more answers here. Okay. Anyway, that might be our first guest. There you go. Yeah, that could be good. Okay. If you two are done, I, if anybody is still listening by this point, I would like to, uh, say a big thank you to everybody that showed up at the sale. Not only you guys, but all the bidders and buyers and two nights, uh, four days later, we had a online sale. And I would like to thank all those bidders and buyers as well, because it's, it's everybody. It's not just the guy that wins the bid and writes the check. It's, it's the other people too. And. Just all the support people sharing Facebook ads or whatever it might be. Um, thank you very, very much and I guess we're ready for tumor. Are we done? Good to see you, tumor. All right, so catch y'all next week, Tim. Take it away.
