Today we're talking about do not go down to Egypt. Do not go down to Egypt. Do not go to Egypt. Do you remember? Our text was taken from Genesis, chapter 26,. You know where God began to speak to Isaac? Genesis, chapter 26, from verse 2 to 3. God appeared to Isaac and he said to Isaac don't go down to Egypt, stay where I tell you, stay here in this land and I'll be with you and I'll bless you, and I'm giving you and your children all these lands, fulfilling the oath that I swore to your father, abraham.
Speaker 1:So in this new year, if there is a relationship that you're trying to get out of, or there is a job that you want to stop, or there is a career move you want to change, you want to make a career move, move, you want to change, you want to make your career move, or you're thinking about relocating or changing your current environment, this message is for you, this devotional is for you today, because when a new year is ushered in, there's so many changes that people want to make in their lives, but many times they don't know how they want to go around or go about those changes. But we use the word of God to judge our circumstances, and so, by using the word of God to judge our circumstances, we use the word of God to actually know what we're supposed to do next. Is it the right move? Because when you want to make a change in your career, you want to make a relocation, you want to relocate. Let's use relocation. For example, how do you know the country that you would relocate to that will favor you? How do you know which one? A lot of people say, oh yeah, canada is it, you know? But there are people that I know that have gone to Canada and they had issues you know they couldn't get. In fact, when they were doing so well in Nigeria by the time they relocated, it was so hard for them to get things working for them, the jobs that they got. There were just some issues here and there that were not anticipated, you know. So how do you know that that relationship you're in it's not the right one, or it's the right one? Now? What are the reasons for those delays? Why is it that people would go through things like that? It's the right one. Now, what are the reasons for those delays? Why is it that people would go through things like that? It's because sometimes they had to go to Egypt, you know. So the word for us is do not go to Egypt. We use the word of God to judge our circumstances. Where people could get information from different places, you know where people would get advice or you know from council from different places. We resort to the word of God because that is where we see the mind of God or the will of God concerning our situation. So the word is don't go to Egypt. All right, don't go to Egypt.
Speaker 1:Fruitfulness God has commanded us to be fruitful this year. He says that this year, for you, is going to be the year of a hundredfold. That means that what is a hundredfold? A hundredfold is anything that you have in your hand multiplied by a hundred. Anything that you have in your hand multiplied by a hundred is a hundredfold. And this is the year that the Lord has said is the year of the hundredfold for us. So he has commanded us to be fruitful this year. And this fruitfulness that God has commanded us to be this year, it is not conditioned by our circumstances or situation. So it doesn't matter where you are currently. It doesn't even matter that prophetic words have been spoken over your life over the past couple of years and you didn't see them come to pass. It doesn't matter, no matter what, what God has said is going to come to pass in your life. Once God says you are fruitful, then you are fruitful.
Speaker 1:And I was trying to change our minds yesterday when we had this devotional yesterday, to try to, you know, change our minds, to make us understand that you know your mindset matters in the scheme of things, that how you're thinking, you know where your thoughts are, they really matter. And we try to talk about the fact that we shouldn't be dependent on people having a what's that mindset, an entitlement mindset, that we shouldn't have an entitlement mindset, but rather we should look to God, that the spirit of God will lead us. Now, you know, popular opinion is not always the best opinion. An opinion is popular or that is trending does not always mean that it is the best. You know it's the right thing for you in that moment. So you want to really look like because, by popular opinion, getting a prophetic word in this season might not be what people would advise you to do. In fact, some of you might not even parodied the fact that you're actually holding on to a prophetic word, but guess what the word of God does not change, that popular opinion does not support. The word of God does not make it ineffective.
Speaker 1:So I'm telling you that this year, no matter how hard you struggled last year, no matter how hard you struggled, you know, once God has said you're fruitful, you will be fruitful. You do not need to consult any witch doctors. Now I want to break this down because sometimes we talk about witch doctors and you know, we imagine going to the bush. There are a lot of people on Instagram, on TikTok, on social media, that are witch doctors. You know, because you go to them and you say, oh, what should I do? And then they tell you to use salt and use candles and use all of those things. And you'll be surprised.
Speaker 1:God says do not go to Egypt, don't consult witch doctors, don't use juju, don't try joining a secret society. I've heard a lot of people say, oh, that is going to make you great and all these other societies and all of that. Forget about those things. Join in a secret society or anything unusual for you to become fruitful. You are already fruitful.
Speaker 1:What is the issue now is that you're trying to bring the fruitfulness out of you. You're trying. You're not a poor person, but you're trying to bring it out In the realm of the spirit. Where you stand, you are surrounded by good, you're surrounded by the blessings of God. These things came to you If you're born again. These things came to you in the death, the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Blood has already been spilled on your behalf. You don't need to go to any juju or do any voodoo or spill any further blood. There is no blood that you're going to spill now that will be as powerful as the blood of Jesus, the blood of a man who was not just a human sacrifice, but a man who was also divine, the blood of the God-man. Do you see? There's no other blood that you would depend on, that you would go and make a sacrifice that would be greater than this. So, brother, why don't you learn how to use this one that you have, this particular blood sacrifice that has been made on your behalf from before you were even born? This blood sacrifice was made on your behalf to be able to make you to become fruitful. That's why I tell you that you're fruitful. I have reason to say that you are fruitful and that this year I want to change your mind and help you to understand and listen. This year you can actually I don't want to use the word manifest, I want to use the word materialize. You can actually materialize good. You can materialize fruitfulness in every area of your life and you do not need to go to Egypt to be fruitful. So God does not.
Speaker 1:Now, the second thing I'm going to talk about is the fact that God doesn't want you to be a wanderer in life. Last year, how many relationships did you have? You know you just went into one and they went into another, and then at the end of the year, you're counting like 20 people that you've gone on several dates with. You know, even if you were, you're in a relationship right now and it's been a long-term relationship and you feel like right now that you want to move to the next level. Don't go to Egypt, take the time out. That's why I'm talking to you today. What's the next step? What are you going to do about those situations?
Speaker 1:You know God doesn't want you to be a wanderer in life. If, in a particular gear, you went from this person to this person and to that person, you have become a wanderer when it comes to relationship and that is not God's will for your life. That's not what God's will is for your life, right? Okay? So God doesn't want you to be a wanderer. He wants you to be focused and effective. How about being in love with just one person, you know, who gives you peace? I know that's what you want and you are focused and you're effective, and every other thing that you're doing you're okay because the relationship is already settled. What about your job? What about stopping? Or, if you're a businessman, you know today you're doing one particular business and the next two years you are doing another one. You're not known for any particular thing. You have become a jack of all trades and a master of none. This year is not going to be like that. Don't go to Egypt. Quit it Like. Stop it already, and you need to be focused and effective in that. This should be your major focus this year that I want to live in the promised land. There is a place that God has designed for you and you want to live in that particular place this year.
Speaker 1:Some years ago, you know, I was in another country and I was believing God. You know, for a house, I was believing God for a car, you know, and I was believing God just for this kind of you know settlement. That's the thing you know. And I was believing God just for this kind of you know settlement. That's the thing, you know, that settlement in my life, that's what I was believing God for. So I sow seeds, you know, I prayed to God and all of that. And do you know that it was just after I prayed and all of this that God began to lead me, you know, to come back, you know, to Nigeria. And then I came back to Nigeria. And then, by the time I came back to Nigeria, I thought I was just going to come, maybe for a visit or something, and then I would go back. But then the Lord started speaking to me. You need to stay back. You know, you need to start a new work in Nigeria, you need to start a ministry. You need to do this. And then I started. I had to heed the word because it came to me very strongly, and so I started and I began.
Speaker 1:But do you know that everything that I believe God for in that other country, you know, didn't come to me. It didn't come to me. The particular car, the exact car that I wanted, you know, the house that I wanted didn't come to me while I was there, so I left that place, but I kept on believing anyways. But do you know that in the very first year of returning to Nigeria, everything that I believed God for came to me like that, specifically to the exact car, like I designed it, so the exact car that I believed God for, that I had called forth for that you know how. You know that you want a particular car it's so specific and you know the model, you know everything about the car and it just came like that in the first year that I returned to Nigeria, doing what God asked me to do. And you know, I learned a vital lesson from that moment that everything that you need, it has already been given to you.
Speaker 1:But you see, sometimes we struggle because we are not in the right path, we're not where God wants us to you. But, you see, sometimes we struggle because we are not in the right path, we're not where God wants us to be, and so those things have been set already on your path. But you want to make sure that you're not wandering. You're not wandering on other people's paths. There's a timeline that you're supposed to follow. There is a path that you're supposed to follow in God's own agenda. Of course you have the power of will and choice.
Speaker 1:You can decide that no, you don't want this or you don't want that, and you could change it. Like, for instance, god can tell you to marry a particular person and you can decide you don't want to marry the person. There is nothing wrong with that, okay. But guess what? You're just going to keep wondering because that relationship is probably going to give you issues. And if it doesn't give you issues immediately in fact, if it gives you issues immediately then it's actually a blessing, because now you saw it earlier on, before you got into the marriage. But guess what? There are people that have entered such relationships and then it was only maybe like 20 years later that they began to see that oh, this was not where God wanted me to be, and it has already taken like 20 years of their life. You wouldn't want that to happen to you, okay.
Speaker 1:So Isaac, genesis, chapter 26,. Isaac was already living in the promised land. That means he knew God already had told Abraham remember, and he had told him and he had passed it on to the next generation. So Isaac already knew God had already told him you know, this is where you're going to go. And he went there. However, farming struck, the land, the place that he thought was the promised land that he had gone to, farming struck. I know people who left Nigeria just on the brink of coronavirus right and they were so happy and they were moving into another country, new country, excited about getting a new job and all of that. And the moment they moved, this whole lockdown started and so they are now in a new country with no money, with no job, because everybody has to stay at home. Just think about that. You just go into the promised land and famine struck. So the mindset of some people is oh, let's go back, maybe we should go back.
Speaker 1:But he says, when famine struck, isaac decided he chose that he was going to go back to Egypt, but he didn't, because God had promised him to bless him in the land of Canaan. Right, god was truly blessing him in that land. But as he thought of it, of going back to Egypt, of moving to Egypt, he started moving. But then one day God spoke to him and said don't go to Egypt. He says don't go to Egypt. This is where we got our title from. He said don't go to Egypt, you need to stay. So he stayed in Jira and at the end of the day, god told him.
Speaker 1:After he stayed in Jira, god appeared to him and God told him the next steps that he was supposed to take. Because God was saying that, listen, egypt is not my place of the blessing. The blessing place for you is Canaan. There is your Canaan land, and once God has shown you the assignment is for you to figure out what the Canaan land is. And once God has shown you those places, listen, it's a promised land, so it is a place of fruitfulness for you. It may be a place of famine for other people, you know, and for other people, but for you it's a place of fruitfulness. Egypt is not a good place for you. Egypt may be a good place for the Egyptians, but it may not be a good place for you. And that's what God was telling Isaac and that's what God is also telling you today that that place that you're going to, all those other places that you're trying to go and get your solutions from, he says it's not a good place for you.
Speaker 1:Just relax. You need to follow what God has told you. You need to ask God, what is my Canaan land? Where is the next step? Ask it directly from him. God wants you to talk to him. God is tired of you going to prophets and jujube and voodoo and doing all of those things. God wants to hear from you directly, and it doesn't matter if you have never spoken to God before. It doesn't matter if you've never made another prayer in your life before. He wants to hear you. He wants to listen to you. Just say it as simply as you talk to your friend. Try not to be overwhelmed by your sin. If you're feeling overwhelmed by your sin, you could just say God, I ask you to forgive me in the mighty name of Jesus. Okay, so God's directive was for Isaac to go to remain in Canaan, to remain in Jirah, and he was to stay there.
Speaker 1:Now in life there are things, there are places, there are decisions that we see as good, but God is not in them. That's also going to Egypt. If God is not in the decisions that you're making, that's the same thing as going to Egypt. If you're in a marriage, for instance, and you're not being fulfilled in your marriage and you want to go to Egypt, think twice about it because you see, this year is not a year to play, because God is saying listen, some of those things the Egyptians are not, they're going to disappoint you. They will disappoint you, you know.
Speaker 1:So don't go to Egypt, don't waste time, don't be a wanderer, don't waste your time. Many times we flee from something and we rush into wrong things. You know you're running away from something, you're running away from this content, you know. And then, yes, you're rushing into heartbreak. You know this year is not the year to, you know, be to allow yourself or everybody to, to be serving you breakfast. You know what it means to be serving you breakfast, to be having heartbreak from every single person. You know where did you need to be? You put place proper boundaries around your life. Okay, place proper boundaries around your life. That's what you do this year.
Speaker 1:So, if you plan to do certain things and God does not approve of that, you know, don't be in a tight situation. Don't say, oh, I'm in a tight situation. Don't go to Egypt. You have to take a break. You have to listen to God, you have to hear the Spirit of God, you have to wait for the next step. Don't go to Egypt. If you want to be fruitful in a famine situation. Don't act on decisions and choices that do not have God's blessings. And backing Everything you do, you know, make sure that you see to it that God supports it. Be fully convinced that God is saying go ahead, it's all right. Otherwise, do not go to Egypt. Egypt could be very well a promising land, that's all right. Otherwise, do not go to Egypt. Egypt could be very well a promising land, that's true. You know Egypt could be a promising land because it looks green, it doesn't look dry, you know. But still, as long as God says you shouldn't go there, do not go there. Many people are doing things they shouldn't be doing because they have gone to Egypt without God. Many people are fruitless in life because they are in Egypt. You mustn't go to Egypt If God is not agreeable to it. You will be fruitful in that Canaan famished land. Yes, you will be fruitful.
Speaker 1:The Bible talks about Isaac. He said he sowed in the land. And Isaac sowed in the land and then he did what he became fruitful, he multiplied. Not only that, he works great. He ripped a hundredfold. It was the hundredfold increase that made Isaac, you know, to become great. He ripped a hundredfold and then he was great. He became very great. Until, you know, the egyptians, even the sorry the, the, the philistines, envied him. The people of jira. He became greater than an entire nation. They envied him. Glory to god, they envied him somewhat, that is, sent him away from them. And even isaac, he kept on going. He, he dug a well In famine. He was digging wells and the wells were filled with water and then people would come and then they would bully the well out of his hands and then he will move again and then he will dig another well and he kept on seeing fruitfulness until he became very great. That place that, god, you see, god will put you. I wouldn't want to say that it's God that puts you, but there are some times you get into situations right and it will look as if it was a bleak situation, but in that situation God will bless you this year. Glory to God.
Speaker 1:Let's just make a few confessions. I think I've said a lot of things. Refuse to be famine-driven and break your marriage. Refuse to be famine-driven and leave your country. Refuse to be famine driven and leave your country. Refuse to be famine driven and leave your purpose, especially your purpose in life. You need to know what is your purpose in this year? What is your purpose in life? You need to hold on to your calling. Hold on to your purpose, you know. Hold fast to it right. Hold fast to your purpose and to your calling and do not let go of them. You know you want to be your calling and your purpose have to be the priority, your priority for this year. That's what your calling and your purpose has to be your priority. That's what you want to work hard at. Seek the presence of God in your life. You know. Ask God to bless you in your situation.
Speaker 1:Don't run from challenges, but deal with the challenges. We don't forsake our God-driven giving dreams and purposes, whatever it is that is giving earning you money, and it is not your purpose. You have to rethink it. You want to. Actually, you want to earn money from something that is also advancing your purpose. Glory to God. So we deal with challenges. We don't run from them. We do not forsake our God-given dreams and areas of calling or gifting because of hardship. No matter how challenging life is, we'll never, ever stop serving God. Hallelujah, never stop praying, never stop studying the word, especially, never stop ministering the gospel. For those that have not heard, you know farming or no farming. God has blessed you to be fruitful. Hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Let's make these confessions together. Say in the name of Jesus, I receive victory over famine. I receive victory over famine. I receive victory over famine showing up as poverty, debt and financial lack. Every wrong circumstance and every bad situation be turned around now for my good In Jesus' name. Declare they say every attack be turned into victory In Jesus' name. Declare they say every attack be turned into victory In Jesus' name. Declare, say I am declaring that I am prospering in the land that God has shown me In Jesus' mighty name. Amen, all right, so remember.
Speaker 1:By way of conclusion, this is our summary. We said do not leave your area of gifting, do not leave your area of your purposes, do not leave your blessings because of famine. Take action. You know to change the unfavorable situation by prayer. Let the Lord show you what to do. You know, don't just change it because you want to change it, all right.
Speaker 1:However, understand that you have to know the appropriate change that is necessary for you. You don't want to just be a wanderer. You don't want to leave that job and then be stuck. You know there is a sister that I know who left the job because she was angry at some form of injustice at her workplace Injustice against her friend, not even against herself. And then the next thing was that she was doing so well, she was earning so much I don't know, maybe it got into her head that she was, you know, quite she was indispensable to the company, or what I don't know. But then she just decided that she was just going to resign, and so she did, and for one full year I'm still counting she's not been able to land another job. So understand if the change that you're making is the appropriate change, otherwise, you'll be leaving Canaan and going into Egypt, and that's not the place of your blessing.
Speaker 1:Father, I pray for every single person under the sound of my voice and I ask you, oh God, that you would walk with them, Holy Spirit, those that do not know you, father Lord, that you would introduce yourself to them. Those that already know you, father Lord, that you will introduce yourself to them, those that already know you, father Lord, that you will deepen your relationship with them. I pray, in the mighty name of Jesus, that this year will be a different year for them. In the mighty name of Jesus, whatever it is that is representing Egypt in their lives. Lord, I ask you that those things will not be fruitful in their lives, but that they will be removed miraculously in Jesus' mighty name. Thank you, heavenly Father. See you again, bye-bye, and have a blessed day.
