You Are The Magic
The Frequency of Beauty: What It Really Means to Live From Your Values
In this soulful episode of You Are the Magic, Christine DeHerrera explores the transformative power of living from your values—not your to-do list. Inspired by the timeless poem She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron, Christine shares how rediscovering beauty as a core frequency has reshaped her life, her business, and her creative energy. Beauty, she reminds us, isn’t surface-level or decorative—it’s a way of seeing and being that infuses our days with reverence, joy, and aliveness.
Through personal reflections on somatic healing, nervous system regulation, and the slow unraveling of what no longer fits, Christine reveals how aligning with values like joy, connection, serendipity, and gentleness creates momentum that feels grounded and true. She invites you to reflect on your own guiding frequencies and to finish the year strong—not by doing more, but by returning to what truly matters.
If you’ve been craving inspiration, peace, and a sense of reconnection with yourself, this episode is your reminder that beauty isn’t something outside of you—it’s the frequency of who you are.

Thank you for listening and just remember, you are the magic!
Welcome to You Are the Magic. I'm Christine DeHerrera, and I'm so glad you're here. My entire idea for this episode was to talk about beauty. You might have guessed I'm a Libra. I was going to talk about how to find beauty in the everyday, how to get inspired from beauty, because recently I remembered that way back in high school, or maybe it was college, I encountered this rather famous poem by Lord Byron, She Walks in Beauty. He was one of the romantic poets, and I was super into that at that age. And it's still a really inspiring poem. And I hadn't thought about that poem in forever. And this year I have been revisiting my values, which I like to think of as the frequency from which we're living, the feelings that we're having. So when I say values, that's what I'm talking about. And I remembered this poem because it's really about the essence of beauty, not just physical beauty. I'm gonna just read you a little bit of it. And then I found this amazing version by Tom Hiddleston on YouTube, and I will link that in the show notes because I can't do this poem justice, but it gives you an idea of why I'm so inspired by it. She walks in beauty like the night of cloudless climbs and starry skies, and all that's best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and her eyes, thus mellowed to that tender light, which heaven to gaudy day denies. It's not a real long poem. You should definitely listen to Tom Middleston read it to you because it's amazing. And I've just loved that poem for as long as I can remember, but I had forgotten about it. And how often does this happen? That we are busy in our lives, doing our work, taking care of our families. And the very things that are most important to us, we forget about them. We forget about the values we're supposed to be living from throughout our entire day. And that's why I wanted to circle back around to this, because this year I redid all of my core values. It's been a really long time coming. And I was really surprised back in March when I was doing a breath work that beauty came up as one of my values. When I talk about beauty, I am not talking about surface-level aesthetics or lip fillers or whatever. All those things are fine, but I'm talking beauty as in the platonic sense of the word, intrinsic inner beauty. You know it when you see a flower or a hedgehog or a beautiful crystal or a rock. Beauty as a core frequency, beauty as a way of seeing and living. And I was really surprised when that came up, but it felt like exactly what I needed for this year, seeing as how this year is a dumpster fire in the general sense. Living from beauty seems really valuable. And that's when I thought, oh, besides just talking about beauty on this episode, I really want to talk about the power of living from your values. This is the time to really get back to that and how values or these frequencies or these feelings can shape the way you're building your business and doing your work, how you're navigating your relationships. And basically, this is how you move through your life. Of course, this is not a new idea. Values work has been around for forever. It's the basis of intentional living, conscious creation, and values work is talked about in business all the time. For decades, people have developed their business core values. So this is something people know about. But how often do we drift away from those values? How often are we making decisions from fear or obligation or scarcity? Maybe you've had one of those mornings, I know I have, where you sit down for your money date and you feel that pinch of constriction, even though your value is abundance. Or maybe you open the document for your creative project. And instead of feeling joy and possibility, you feel like this has to work. I have to make this work. This has to make money. This has to prove something to someone. And need is driving the bus instead of the values that you intended to live from. We all do it. There's no shame in it. And we're living in a time when the old systems are cracking. Everything that is broken is surfacing so we can rebuild it with love and humanity. And that's exactly why this work, your work, my work, this values work matters so much right now. Like I said, values work has been around forever. I used it to intentionally build my business way back in the day. But this all took on a different meaning, a different feeling around 10 years ago. Back then, I really wasn't thinking about how I felt when I was doing things. I was thinking about what needed to get done, even if it was things I was really excited about, like my writing projects or taking care of clients and taking care of my children, basically taking care of everything and everyone. And I was not thinking, how do I want to feel as I do this? I was just doing. But I started learning about this and I started small. I picked a few words that represented how I wanted to feel at the time. These were my core values. How do I want to feel as I move throughout my day? How do I want to feel when I'm taking care of my kids? How do I want to feel when I'm taking care of my clients? How do I want to feel? At first, my words were things like spacious, nourished, vibrant, magic, connected. Pretty much the opposite of how I'd been living because I was over-efforting, I was over-delivering, I was busy all the time. Of course, all of these are qualities our culture completely rewards, but that were absolutely draining the life out of me. And so I started living from spaciousness and creating space in my day. And that's a core piece of my framework when I work with my one-to-one coaching clients. Same thing with nourished. I took that beyond the literal sense of eating healthy food, which I had always done, but literally nourishing my mind, my body, my soul in everyday life. And again, I have incorporated this into the business I have built now, which is really exciting and fun. Once you pick your core values, your core frequencies, you don't just keep them forever. And so every once in a while I'd sit down with a cup of delicious coffee and my journal, and I would revisit those words and see if they still resonated. Sometimes I would tweak them as life evolved. And then during the pandemic, everything went bananas, right? But I found a whole new level that involved somatic healing. I began to learn about the nervous system for the first time. And that was before these had become common everyday things. And that's when everything really began to change for me. And at first, of course, it changed in the hard way. More problems, more challenges. I had to learn to really embody these frequencies on a whole nother level. And in 2023, I finally found my own amazing teacher, Alicia, who is, in my humble opinion, the world's best at nervous system regulation and somatic healing. And she's got a whole nother layer of being a priestess. And I started doing the work with her. So I was doing breath work, somatic movement. I was learning how my body was communicating with me. Piece by piece, it started opening me up to something deeper. The values work that I had done had definitely created space. I had definitely been nourishing myself. And I couldn't have done this new level without having gone through all of that. This somatic work and the breath work really let my body begin to speak and I could hear for the first time. That was profound and wild. It wasn't surprising that some old grief came back up, obviously, memories about my dad's diagnosis and death when I was a teenager, my brother's sudden passing a little bit later. But it was all of the day-to-day experiences where I'd silenced myself or not been fully myself that had really shaped me as an adult. And so I had to slow down and listen to my body. And as I did, my body began to reveal who I was becoming. This has been a very long process. And so this year in 2025, it's all starting to come together. So after what I've jokingly called my dark decade of the soul, and thanks for the languaging for that, Kyra. I've been asking, like, who am I now? What do I stand for now? What do I want to create now? And I've been working in this frequency work, this values work. And that's when beauty started coming up. That's when joy really started coming up. And joy, I'm a happy, enthusiastic person, but joy has never been a frequency that really resonated with me. I literally didn't get it. But this year, joy became something that was calling to me. And I realized I was recalibrating and changing and becoming a new person again this year. I was trying to sort of nail them down. I'm like, let's get going. I want to get momentum. I have things I'm doing. I have projects I'm working on. I'm building this newer version of my business and I'm ready for momentum. Like every day I wrote down the word momentum. And but finally on October 7th of this year, it all came at once. Just bam. But it was because I had been doing all of this work for literally years at this point. And what dropped in for me was joy and beauty, connection, serendipity. I love that word, like the John Cusack movie, renaissance, and also the word gentle. Because as a high achiever and a go-getter, I want to achieve all of these things with gentleness. And then all of this being held in a container of effervescence. I've often described myself as enthusiastic, and that's legitimately my natural state. But effervescence has this sparkly champagne quality and fun that I would like to hold joy, beauty, connection, serendipity, renaissance, and gentleness in a beautiful cup of effervescence with a dash of rebirth. Because hey, we're here to transform. And I thought, yes, this is who I'm becoming. This is who I am now. So it's continuing to hold these vibrations, these values, and finding the things that inspire us and remind us every day. And this is also fresh to me. I have to look at this every day. I need reminders on my phone all day long to stay in these frequencies, to remind myself, to take care of myself so I can hold these frequencies. And I've been in a program with Alicia for the vast majority of this year where that is what we are learning to do is to hold the voltage of our power, our internal power. We're not talking about power over anybody else. We're talking about our own life force energy. And I wanted to share all of this because if you're like me, this has been a really interesting year and you've been shedding old identities, maybe you've built some new things. And we're at that time of the year where we're taking stock of did I live up to that word of the year? Did I get those projects created that I said I wanted to create this year? And also looking ahead to 2026. And so if you are feeling like, hey, I need to do my own values work, then this is your sign to do it. Or if you've already done that and you're feeling really solid for each of them, how can you find inspiration? Do you find that through music, books, going for walks in nature, trips to the art museum, decorating your house for holidays or baking beautiful meals for your family or friends? And it doesn't have to be something big. Using beauty as our example. Beauty is not perfection or decoration. It's it's reverence, really. It's noticing the symmetry of a leaf, the way the sunlight comes in through the kitchen window, the color of a horse's mane, stranger's smile, or remembering that old poem I used to like back in the day and remembering it still existed. Beauty is being awake to the world, its presence. And so I am making it a priority to spend time in places that stir beauty in me. It might be the botanic gardens, a quiet trail, fashion. I'm really excited to return to my love of fashion. Basically anything anywhere that helps me remember how miraculous this life really is. And as I'm returning to beauty and my other core values, the more everything else is aligning. My creativity, my energy, my relationships, my business. I have new programs coming that I have been dreaming of coming into the world now. And I'm so excited. And I want that for you because I know you're passionate about what you're doing and the work you're creating and your relationships with your people. So I'd love for you to consider what is the frequency you want to live right now? And what values and feelings do you want to guide your choices, your creations, your relationships? And use this time to reflect. Who did I think I'd be by now when this year began? Who am I actually becoming? And there's still so much year left. And we're not gonna get where we're going by pushing harder, but by going deeper. And so revisit those values. Remember who you are, name how you want to feel as this year is winding down, but also remember there's so much year left. When you live from your values, the frequencies that matter, the frequencies of joy and beauty and gentleness, you become the tuning fork for peace. You don't just shift your own life, but all the lives around you. And all that shifting changes everything. And that's what the world needs right now: humanity, love, people living from aliveness and resonance and reverence for what this life is. So, in closing, I want to hear what your values are, what values are guiding you this season. You can text me, just click the link at the top of the show notes, or come find me on Instagram and DM me. I'd love to hear how you're doing, what your values are. It's so much fun when I get those love notes from you. And click the link in the show notes to hear Tom Hiddleston reading She Walks in Beauty. You will not be sorry that you did that. And remember, beauty isn't something outside of you, it's the frequency of who you are. And you, my friend, are the magic.
