If you have 5 minutes, listen in as Randy and I consider a section of Scripture in Colossians 3. I hope this is encouraging for your Friday!
Welcome back to the Consider One Verse. Welcome back to the Consider One Verse podcast. It's a little mini podcast. Randy was just saying that sounds like the dialogue verse we used to have. Times are changing. We're just gonna consider one section of scripture real quick for your Friday, and then we'll be done. Randy's got a verse for us. Randy, what are you reading? And go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Colossians chapter 3, verse 12 through 17. Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. If anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of perfection, and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
SPEAKER_00Amen. So Randy's podcast we just recorded, and that'll come in July. But this is in June. And this goes so well with what we're talking about. We're talking about how kind Randy is. You know, someone told him, like, hey, you're not going to be able to manage people or be in charge of people. You're too kind. And then hear right away, hey, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering. Unfortunately, I think the world doesn't view those as leadership qualities. But when we consider 1 Peter 5, like we did in the podcast, Colossians 3, kindness and humility is going to be servant leadership 101. And I really do see that in you, Randy, and I'm grateful for it. I'm thinking about one more thing, and that's verse 17. A great one to know. Colossians 3.17, it's very all-encompassing. Whatever you do, whether that's leadership, whether that's followership, that's the Navy, the shipyard, wherever you are, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. So we didn't have time to talk about this in the podcast, and I feel like it falls under Colossians 3.17. Whatever you do, one of the things Randy does is he is the Secretary of Skate, as the term goes, over in Port Orchard. If you ever are over in Port Orchard, Randy will find you and try to show you his skate park. Tell us about that. What is the secretary of skate?
SPEAKER_01So that I'm I was the secretary of skate. You were I was a part of the South Kittsap Skate Park Association, which I started coincidentally in 2008. And it took us five years to get that park uh put in with many meetings with commissioners and various other types of folks, and we did a lot of volunteer fundraising kind of situations. Josh helped design the park, and we worked with the designers and the the companies that built the park. And so yeah, um happy to give lessons too.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that's what I was about to say. Next time there's a men's breakfast or a potluck over at the Hortons, Randy will say, Hey, free lessons.
SPEAKER_01Let's go, free lessons.
SPEAKER_00And you were the Secretary of Skate, but your name is it's there.
SPEAKER_01My name is still on there. Um I was the secretary of the South Kittsap Skate Park Association, so I kind of So Secretary of Skate is your turn. Is kind of my yeah, Secretary of Skate.
SPEAKER_00So oh, that's awesome. But but it falls underneath what we're talking about. Whatever you do, whatever you do, there's a chance to let your light shine. Maybe that is by being a master chief, maybe that is just by putting together a skate park for people to have fun in. And when you showed it to me, we saw people there enjoying the fruit of your labor. Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. So whatever you do, do it with kindness, do it uh unto the Lord. Singing hymns, serving others, whatever that is.
SPEAKER_01We're skating.
SPEAKER_00We're skating. Fantastic. Okay, perfect. That's what we want. When I did this with Luca, we ended up talking about hiking. And now with you, we're talking about skating. That's so fun. Okay, thank you.
