SPEAKER_02Fantastic. Welcome back to the Between Seasons 5 Minute Consider One Verse podcast. It's never been one verse, it's always been multiple verses, but today I'm sitting with Daniel and Hanna. We're recording podcasts here on a Sunday afternoon and having fun so far. Yes. Yes. Maybe. Okay, Daniel's got a verse for us, and then Hannah's gonna read hers, and then we're gonna talk about them both. Daniel, what are you reading for us?
SPEAKER_00And go ahead. I have Genesis 1 1. And I'll read two verses actually. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.
SPEAKER_02Hannah, what are you reading? Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01So I have John 1 1, but I also will read a couple verses. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was no anything made that was made. And him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has no overcome it.
SPEAKER_02So, Daniel, you tell me why Genesis 1-1. Why'd you go there? That's my dad's favorite verse in the Bible. When I ask him that, he says, Very cool. Genesis 1-1, like there's nothing else without that. So why do you go there?
SPEAKER_00It's one of my favorites too. I mean, as we covered in our uh podcast, Jeremiah 17 is my go-to favorite, but Genesis 1 is amazing because it just causes us to reflect on the just omni everything about God, the omnipresent, omniscient, omnipowerful, everything, omni omnipotent. And to think that prior to the creation of the world, everything was just void, formless and void. It's just kind of a crazy thought. So I love contemplating these verses.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And then Hannah goes to John 1. Seems like she was very passionate about reading that verse. Hannah, tell us why. Why John 1?
SPEAKER_01Yes, I also think it's really crazy how just the world was created by God. Like before that there was nothing. It was just empty. And then finally God decided to create every little thing to the biggest thing in this earth and universe, which I really love. God had such a purpose for this world.
SPEAKER_02Ah, and that's where John 1 really rings true. Just the idea of physical matter going from void to formed is crazy. And then you get to John 1 and you realize in the beginning there was purpose. That's what I think of when I see the word, word in the Bible. That's God's purpose. That's what he goes and achieves, that sends out and will not return void. That's God's word. It has a purpose from the beginning. While I have you guys here together, we were just finishing up a podcast with Daniel that'll hit soon. And then now we're about to record a podcast with Hannah the way she's speaking reminds me of wow, Daniel was just speaking with me just a couple minutes ago. You've seen that in the last three years, watching her just become so knowledgeable and Hannah, you're very impressive. Seeing her take after your love for the word and making her faith her own. Uh not that my podcast is that important, but it's a pretty cool visual right here. You must be feeling that right now as a God, right?
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. I I just have been convinced that there's nothing I've done to take credit here, that it really is just that God gives each of us a natural curiosity for the natural world that He's created, for truth, and I see that especially in Hanna. Like she's got an extra serving of curiosity for the natural world and for God's word. And so that makes parenting really fun because we just get to do a lot of exploring together, exploring the natural world, traveling to different countries, looking at um all sorts of different creatures, talking about scientific ideas, and then also opening up the word. And um, I love Hanna's curiosity for the word. We just last night were diving into the story of Samuel, how he came um to be a prophet and his whole story of his faithful life. And so we just love sharing those things together as a family, Emily, Hanna, and I. So it's really And you just got back from vacation too.
SPEAKER_02We're doing more curiosity exploring, right? Hana, how was that?
SPEAKER_01It was it was really hot. We went to a lot of different beaches, but it was I I think it was amazing. Every single time we went hiking or to the beaches, I was telling God in my mind, God, thank you so much for letting me see this beautiful creation you have made for me to see one day. And I was just so thankful because a lot of people don't get these chances, and I'm so blessed by God that He has just blessed me with so many things.
SPEAKER_02Amen. We'll leave it right there. Just a little teaser for your Friday. Daniel and Hannah Reeves, uh, there'll be more podcasts coming in season three of Consider One Another. I'm gonna thank you guys for taking the time today. I know everyone is excited for hearing more on your story. Thank you guys. Thank you.
