Good morning, everybody, and welcome back to Trending. I hope you had a fantastic weekend. It's good to be back with you, of course, after a week in South Wales in beautiful sunshine. Those of you around the UK, I'm sure I've been enjoying it the last few days. It certainly feels welcomed after a few months of not so nice weather. Well, the world's continued to be insane last week. Friday marked some major local elections here in the UK where local councillors and mayors and so on were elected. Kind of was an impending, expected doom for the Labour Party. They were expected to completely be destroyed and wiped out. And they they sort of were still quite a you know a big party in terms of they have a lot of councillors, but they've lost around 1,500 of their sitting councillors and mayors, including losing control of a number of councils that they have not lost control of for decades, including losing control of the Senate in Wales for the first time, I believe, in around 50 years. So the pressure is mounting on Keir Starmer as more and more people are starting to go, well, we're just getting battered every time we have an election. And they are. They're losing every, they've lost every by-election, they've lost these local elections. Whenever there's been other local elections, they've also lost. And it's kind of a a prelude for what's going to happen at the next general election, which will be in a couple of years' time. So obviously, the Labour Party are in fighting, people are running around trying to save their own jobs, and understandably so the public are outraged, and they're showing that with their voting. Now, this is where we have a bit of a, I guess a bit of a double-edged sword, because we sit here and say that voting doesn't change anything. You know, whatever, whoever you vote for, the government still gets in. And that's true. And the reason I say that is because you can vote this person out, fine, absolutely. You can take this person out of the position of power they are in. But the question is, who are they being replaced with and what are they being replaced with? If they're being replaced with something that is just as bad or bad in a very different way, then the ultimate end goal doesn't really change for this cult. The same agenda continues. That's why, regardless of what country you look in, whether that's the US, whether that's the UK, Canada, Australia, or so uh France, and so on, you see right wing, left wing, center over a period of time have power, whether that as a president, a prime minister, a government. And you very you basically see no change. You see the agenda continue, you see the destruction of people's freedoms and civil liberties, you see the destruction of people's abilities to simply survive, the cost of everything just goes up. Countries continue to get embroiled into overseas wars that don't serve that nation. And we see the AI agenda, technological agenda continue to accelerate and accelerate, regardless of who is in power. So I'm not saying voting doesn't change anything for the individual. So these votes may well signal the end for Keir Starmer and Goodriddens, off you go, mate. But what is he being replaced with and who is he being replaced with? You know, if they vote the Labour Party out at the next election and they vote someone like reform and Nigel Farage in, for example, what does that mean for the country? Does that mean actual change or does that mean the same agenda will continue? Well, I'd actually suggest the same agenda will continue, probably more accelerated, because kind of like we have had in America where Donald Trump has had this big base of support that's allowed him to do things and get things through that if Kamala Harris, for example, had done, people would have been outraged. Well, I would suggest the same thing would happen with Farage because one of the big issues around this country is immigration. And Farage has been consistently publicly very anti uncontrolled immigration. So if he was to come in and announce certain policies, like the brick card, for example, which is digital ID in another name only, just with a slightly better sales pitch, people I think would be less likely to resist. They'd be more, okay, look, I don't like this. However, we know this guy really wants to solve this issue. So therefore, if he's saying this will solve it, then I'm more likely to go, okay, you know what? I'll concede that bit of ground. So I would suggest it's very important to look at politics and be understanding of it and look at the figures involved and try and understand their backgrounds and so on. But know that it is just a game. The people pulling the strings behind the scenes will always remain the same, regardless of which side is in power. Individual people might lose their jobs, and on the surface, it might be nice to wave Cheerio to them. And I and I don't think there'll be a single person really in this country that will not be enjoying seeing Kia Starmer squirming and not enjoy seeing him go. But who and what's he being replaced with, that's the next point. So he's due to make a major speech today in a bid to keep his job, which, you know, if you've seen Starmer speak, him speaking is not normally a great sales pitch for his talents or his intelligence. Because more and more MPs, including some senior MPs like Angela Rayner, the former Prime Minister, you know, sorry, former Prime Minister, former Deputy Prime Minister and Assistant Leader, the one who preaches about equality while buying about a third home or something and not um declaring the right amount of stamp duty so she didn't pay anywhere near as much as you or I. And if we'd have done that, we'd have probably been fined or maybe even been put in jail, so many different things. But she just, you know, carries on as normal. She's come out and said that blocking the Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, the Labour Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, from standing in a by-election in Denston back in February was a mistake. And that was a seat that they then lost to the Green Party, to the Hannah Spencer, the plumber from Manchester. So essentially, they lost that seat because they refused to put forward what is considered their best candidate and the man who had the best chance of winning that particular seat. And the reason that happened is that Andy Burnham is seen as the main leadership threat to Keir Starmer. Burnham was an MP, he was in the shadow cabinet, and he also stood for leadership when Jeremy Corbyn won back in, what would that be, about 2013, 2014. Once he lost that leadership contest, he resigned as an MP and has been Manchester mayor pretty much ever since. Now I've got my own experience of Andy Burnham, which I've explained on previous episodes, where that man is very much about himself, as most politicians, I'm sure you'll agree are. Certainly not about the people of Manchester, and the homeless problem in Manchester has only grown and grown under his leadership. So I don't really see why he's considered the greatest threat, but you know, he's a young guy, he's quite charismatic, he speaks quite well, so I would suggest that's probably why. But you only got to look at his actual ability to do a certain job to see he's just the same as the rest of them. So today we're kind of expecting Starmer to come out with a major speech trying to, you know, unify the party when really all he's trying to do is cling on to power. He's a power-hungry, you know, built-up per built-up guy who's who's is seeing this all unravel very, very quickly. You know, he won a massive majority, didn't win a massive majority in terms of the number of votes for him, but he won a massive majority in terms of the number of seats at the last election back in 2024 in July. And since then, it's been disaster after disaster after disaster. He came in promising change, which unfortunately lots of people lapped up. Lots of people also voted for him just to get the Tories out after 14 years, thinking, you know, this can't be any worse. And since then, pretty much everything that he claimed he was going to do, whether that be not raise taxes, that was going to be lower the cost of living, all of those things, they've not happened. Taxes have gone up, people have less money in their pocket. The price of everything from your mortgage to your heating to your local food shop, they've all gone up. Petrol in your car, they've all gone up. And he's continued to accelerate that agenda, which is depriving people more and more of basic freedoms. The only thing I will stand by Starmer on is the fact that it's not he's not got Britain involved fully in this war in Iran. There's not boots on the ground, there's not airstrikes in Iran from British planes. Um, and I think that's the only thing you can say to him that has been done well. But again, going back to my earlier point of people from the shadows controlling, that won't have been Starmer's decision. And I can look and I can say, I'm happy that's happened, but they are probably playing the long game, and this is all happening probably on purpose. I doubt Starmer has thrown a spanner in the works and said, nope, I'm not going along with that. I think it's probably part of the long-term agenda. You know, time will tell, I guess, on that one. But Starmer is of one of the most unlikable, arrogant, and just contemptuous individuals you could possibly meet. The guy's got zero charisma, he's got zero talent, he's got zero authenticity about him whatsoever. And he's clearly just trying to cling onto power more and more. And more and more Labour MPs, including high-profile ones like Angela Reina and dozens of others, are now calling for him to be challenged as leader. The main people looking in opposition are Andy Burnham, as I mentioned, and the current health secretary, Wes Streeting, who's been mentioned for quite a long time as a potential leadership challenge for him. So essentially they're reshuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. Same individuals, same people that have had influence, and they're just going to go and reshuffle their jobs slightly. Um, what qualifications do these people have for these jobs? Absolutely none. What experience do these people have in those industries? Pretty much none. Have any of them ever had any actual jobs? Probably not. They've probably joined think tanks, they've probably gone into university and they've probably become labor activists or worked in the office and then they've become MPs. They've got no life experience and they've got no opportunities to actually help people, hence why we see more and more very vacuous, very malleable people enter politics and they get controlled and manipulated into doing exactly what the cult wants them to do, which is furthering and furthering this agenda. Starmer, on the other hand, Starmer for me was very much a chosen one to come in and do exactly what he's done, which is create utter chaos in a different way. You can look at someone like Donald Trump and you can look at someone like Keir Starmer and say they're at very opposite ends of the spectrum. Trump is very emotional, he's very reactionary, or certainly as perception of him is. Starmer's very calm and he's very quiet and he's very essentially a wet paper bag, as described by many people, very weak. But equally, both of them have created the same situation, which is they've created complete chaos. Because in the same way Trump's tweeting or truth socialing, this is gonna happen. Oh no, it's not, and the markets go up and down. In the same way, we're gonna do this. Oh no, we're not, oh, we're gonna do this, oh at the 11th hour we're gonna drop it. All these U-turns we've seen here in the UK under Starmer, that creates the same kind of uncertainty, creates the same outcome as this. So you can do it in two very different ways, which is exactly what they've done. But ultimately, he's there to essentially be a wrecking ball. And if you look at these two individuals, we'll focus on Starmer for the sake of the story. The amount of people now that are completely disengaged, disinterested with politics at all is absolutely enormous. Now it was growing anyway because people have seen over the last few decades and further that politics doesn't really change anything. It doesn't matter who you vote for, the same situations continue. People's lives generally continue to get worse. Might be the odd breadcrumb to keep you quiet, but most of the time people's lives get worse, they get poorer, health is getting worse, education is getting worse, the streets are getting less safe, and so on. So it feels to me when you know the outcome that they want is this technocracy with elected officials, sorry, not elected officials, with selected, appointed officials. And Nigel Farage, the man who is almost certainly going to be the next Prime Minister, has spoken about the fact that half his cabinet will be appointed. They won't even be elected. Now, elected officials, I agree, are completely, absolutely incompetent and owned. That's what we've seen over the last however long experience in politics. But at least they're elected to a degree. At least they're answerable to an elected public. At least at the next election you can vote them out. Now, as I said earlier on in the programme, who are they being replaced with? That's another problem. But when they're appointed, they're appointed by one person. Who do they answer to? They might have more experience in a particular industry, but who do they answer to? There needs to be a balance between people who actually have the competency to do a certain job and the experience in a particular industry or particular discipline to do a certain job. But they need to be elected. And what they're doing, I think, is completely destroying any confidence, any belief in elected officials. So then when they want to bring in this technocracy where people are more selected and appointed, there's less resistance to it because people will go, look, this was a disaster. We've seen where this goes, and it goes nowhere good for us. So can this really be any worse? Let's give it a go at least. Come on. And before you know it, you've signed over every last bit of freedom you had, you've signed over everything to a bunch of people that are owned by the very cult behind the incompetence in these politicians. So we're we live in a very interesting time for politics. And Starmer, for me, was sent in to be that last person to just nail the coffin shut for people going, Oh, I've really done with this man. Like, this is just is is this the best we can do? 70 odd million people and this bloke, like, yeah, the politics doesn't work, does it? That that's to me what I feel like Starmer has been sent in there to do. And obviously, he's not gonna be the last prime minister, he'll possibly go this week, he'll possibly not. We'll see. You'll know if he's meant to go because this Ukrainian story will come out about the the three lads torching his car. If that comes out, you know they really want him to go. If it doesn't, maybe they might let him cling on to power for a little bit longer. Who knows? Time will tell. If he's gonna get a leadership challenge mounted against him, I'd expect that to come in the next few days. So, you know, Gareth will be covering, I'm sure, what happens at today's speech. He'll probably be covering that tomorrow morning, and we might know a little bit more by then. But for now, that's it for the free version of this morning's episode. If you want to listen to the rest, I'm gonna talk more about Starmer and who he's decided to appoint at the 11th hour to save his pre save his uh premiership. You won't, you won't, you'll be shocked, trust me. Uh, we're gonna talk about the uh latest on the Iran deal. We're gonna talk about holidays and uh fuel prices, and we're gonna talk about an interesting story that's coming out uh from the US, a really interesting story by Miranda Devine in the New York Post talking about how left-wing women seem to be actually causing more problems for themselves by simply trying to be too accommodating for people who don't deserve it. So we're gonna get into that and more in the second part of the show. So head over to iconic.com. The links in the description. I'll see you over there.
SPEAKER_01Don't mention the reps of those days. Even less is said about the Grey Pope, which some believe to be the true ruling power in the Vatican.
