Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Thursday's episode of Trending. The secret police are back, apparently. Not sure they went anywhere, to be honest. Labour's migrant push continues. Zelensky is finally talking about peace, and Andy Burnham chairs an emergency COBRA meeting about the weather. She's the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. She said that Germany and Japan are returning to the practice of mass surveillance of their citizens, a practice last associated with the Gestapo and the Toko. They're not the only ones, mate. And it's designed for everywhere, of course. As Zakharova stated on her telegram channel, two former Axis powers returned in July to surveillance practices that they were forced to abandon, pretend they abandoned, in 1945. Now these surveillance powers are being rolled out across the world. It's not just Japan and Germany, of course, in different ways, using different excuses. We've already got the digital ID push, of course, pretty much everywhere, but obviously massively in the United Kingdom. You've got the social media ban for under 16s, which is you know coming up everywhere. Um, the attack on the use of VPNs as well. China um is the most surveilled country, of course, famously using his AI facial recognition. And I only found this out right recently. They've got one camera for every two citizens. And there's a lot of citizens in China. It's insane, isn't it? But the US and the UK are not too far behind them now. Um, Shibana Mahmood, the Home Secretary of the UK, obviously famously said in an interview with um Tony Blair, the butcher of Baghdad and war criminal, um, that she dreamt of a panopticon where the eyes of the state were on the citizens at all time. Obviously, we've got facial recognition in the UK already. So obviously Zacharova's talking about you know Germany and and Japan here, but they ain't the only ones. In July, two former Axis countries simultaneously returned to practices from which they'd forcibly weaned, I can say probably pretended they'd weaned, from in 1945. The German Bundestag passed a new Federal Police Act, the most comprehensive reform of the agency since 1994. Never again, they said, didn't they? Mind you, they all say never again, they don't really mean it. The Federal Police was granted the following new powers. Bear in mind, what I'm reading out here is stuff that's going on everywhere else as well. Um, real-time facial recognition at railway stations and airports, AI-powered crowd behaviour analysis, identity checks without grounds for suspicion, phone tapping, and the use of drones. Now, George Orwell wasn't messing about, was he? When he wrote 1984, and Aldous Huxley wasn't messing about when he wrote A Brave New World, because they knew what was coming. And I think what people, a lot of people don't realise is that Huxley taught Orwell. So there's a direct connection between those two guys and the literature that they wrote. She noted that the European Cybersecurity Organization, described as Europe's largest internet industry association, had um assessed the law as an introduction to mass digital surveillance. That sounds like they're saying it as oh god, this is bad. This is an introduction to mass digital surveillance. No, they're not saying it like that, mate. They're saying it like that while doing that. But it doesn't come from a position of strength, and I think it's important to put that out there because we've spoken before how censorship doesn't come from a position of strength. You know, you you you don't prove a man wrong by cutting out his tongue and all the rest of it. But surveillance and censorship are intrinsically linked, neither come from a position of power and a position of secrets, um, security, of course. You know, if you if you've got a partner, a husband or a wife that controls you know what the partner says, where the partner goes, who the who the partner hangs out with, you know, goes through their phone on a regular basis and all the rest of it, you wouldn't look at that person and go, they're secure. They're not. They're completely the opposite of that. They're they're they're insecure. They're um they're they're weak. You know. Um these people, the the you know, the powers that be, the establishment, in all these countries, they are insane. I think that's apparent now. We've realized that, that they are actually all insane. Um and they're control freaks. They don't like situations where you know there could be different outcomes. They they want it set, but they're massively insecure. All of these leaders, or so-called leaders, that are all massively insecure. And let's not pretend that the Russians aren't doing this, by the way, just because obviously she's talking about it. Um but when I say that surveillance and censorship are in intrinsically linked, it's because one is used to achieve the other. So, in terms of censorship, you know, you can get banned from social media, you can get algorithmically banned on social media, shadow banned, which of course a lot of us are. They can get you fired from your job, cancelled from speaking in public. Obviously, that's happened to my dad a lot, and you're banned from Europe and all the rest of it, but it takes a lot of effort to do that, and it can make you look bad because then people look and go, God goodness, me, look what they're doing, they're banning these people, they're silencing these people. That's really bad. So if you let people know that they're being watched at all times, then you can achieve the greatest censorship of all, which is self-censorship. Where suddenly you don't need to cancel people, you don't need to um forcibly silence them, get them sacked from their job and and um deplatformed and all you know whatever whatever. You just get them to shut themselves up, you get them to second guess themselves, they go, Oh I better not say that. I bet no, no, I won't. Also, you can create confusion like they did with the whole you know, 250 billion gender stuff, where no one really knew what to say. I mean, I didn't care, but there was lots of people I don't I don't know what the right answer is then. I mean, I so I just won't say anything. So they achieved it through that because that way the put you've done their job for them. You they don't need to silence you because you've silenced you, and this is why none of this is actually secret, like they want you to know they're watching, they're not you know, they talk about the secret police, uh even going back into the Stasi in East Germany, all the rest of it, oh yeah, there was a secret police. Well, not really. Everyone knew they existed, and they were terrified of them, and they acted accordingly. So when you know Mahmoud says she dreams of a Panopticon where the eyes of the state are on all everyone at all times, they want you to know that. So you shut your mouth. Um, but I'm not very good at that. Um, right, I've got a coffee. I'm in a I'm in Serbia. I've um I'm speaking at Libapolko conference tomorrow, so I've just gone downstairs to get myself a coffee. I took one look at the coffee machine and went, I haven't got a clue. So the guy had to come and make it for me. It's quite nice actually. Okay, Labour doubles down on Burnham, unelected Burnham's, vowed to make middle class areas take more migrants as Minister Defence. This bit's insane.
