[00:00:00] Welcome to the Greater Cole Podcast. I'm your host, mark. I'm so glad you would join us. It is episode 22. Can you believe it? Where's the Time Gone? This episode is about an unknown woman in Matthew. I've titled this one, persistent Faith, and the women who I admire highly who got me into this is on the show with us.

Her name is Emily Trotter. Emily, how are you doing? I'm good. I'm honored to be here with you. Well, I was, when you asked, I was like, heck yes. And then when you pitched me with the idea of the women in Matthew, I was like, who's that exactly? The timing of this is perfect because Dotty Pepper was recently on and she spoke about Mary, mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the woman at the well, who's also names.

Um, so before we get to, and I read the passage of this woman because you challenged me with this. Just [00:01:00] like the Bible always does. Mm. I want you to share with everyone watching and listening, what was it about this woman in Matthew 15? What was it about her that's resonated with you? I was doing a inductive study of Matthew.

Just going through an inductive is line by line. Where you read line by line repeatedly over and over again until you're just sick of it. Mm-hmm. And when I got to this chapter, I was surprised by this. It's not long. I mean, it's only what, seven verses? Yeah. And it just hit me like a ton of bricks. Because I, you know, it's one of those little passages that you might skip over that you don't, that you might not pay attention to.

Lord knows I did. Well, the woman doesn't have a name. It's kind of a throwaway. Oh yeah. This [00:02:00] woman, she was, you know, you know, it's kind of a throwaway character kind of thing. And she, I think part of the, because I've been thinking about this because I knew you were gonna ask me why this stuck with me, but.

I think because I, I, I'm a mother. Yeah. And I have, uh, my oldest child had a brain tumor when he was two, and I think that the mother beseeching the Lord on behalf of her child. Mm-hmm. I think that's kind of what hit me first and resonated with me and then. How she just stuck with it. And I just love the, the interaction between her and Jesus.

Um, because you can see, I mean, I can, I feel this, this connection that he has with her instantaneously, that he's just really, he admires her and he, he just looks at her and is [00:03:00] like, huh. And that just really kind of. Stuck out to me as being a woman who in a space where, I mean, there's all the, the talk about, you know, women and leadership in the church and, and teaching and doing things, and I've, I've experienced some of that myself and this, this woman who is Jesus' fresh off of having a confrontation with the Pharisees.

And he's with his, you know, his disciples who don't get what's going on a lot of the time. Yeah. And she comes onto the scene and, you know, steals focus and he, she gets it. Mm-hmm. She gets this who Jesus is, and I think I really appreciate that he sees her and acknowledges her and listens to her. Um, and then, you know, grants her request.

But Okay. At the risk of being presumptuous folks. Um, uh, we are gonna call her Constance [00:04:00] or Constancia, which is Latin and it's steadfast and constant. And the definition is a timeless name, implying firm persistence. And I call this show Persistent Faith. Now Emily, this has just come to me, so I'm gonna ask you before we go ahead.

I made the argument in a recent podcast because we've done 20 something about men. And then, uh, we're shaken into line. And I, we featured featured three. And after really diving into the lives of these three women, it occurred to me that these female heroes of the faith, and the argument I'm making here is in many ways, I feel like they're stronger than the men because they're having to lift themselves out of the cultural norms that they had to fit into and right this woman.

Just having the gumption to go by the disciples, she bypassed them and went straight to Jesus. Where that's like [00:05:00] taboo in a way, in a world in which they were living at that stage. Right. The strength and the moxie and the wherewithal that these women have is admirable, and I feel like we can all strive after that.

Yes, and I think it's so important for women today, now forever. Um, because regardless of all of the advancements and the glass ceilings that have been broken, there's still the caveat, well, that's just a woman. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And, um, and the way that Jesus interacts with women, the way that he cares for them, it just.

Jesus loved women. I mean, he is, he is a defender of theirs, and it just is really encouraging to see that. No doubts. Um, and gentlemen, don't switch off please, because we're talking about a woman. [00:06:00] You need to know this. Yeah. Okay. You do. Because we're gonna talk about humility and boldness. We're gonna talk about worshiping in the midst of trials.

We're gonna talk about, um, discernment. Preparedness to challenge the status quo. These are all things that the study of this woman highlighted to. Well, Emily knew it. She made me study and I'm, I'm thankful to you. So here we go. I'm gonna read the seven verses real fast. Um, and then we're gonna dive in Emily.

Um, okay. And here we go. Uh, Matthew 1521. Then Jesus left Galilee after arguing with the Pharisees, and I'm reading this out of the new living Testament. Went north to the region of Tara and Seden. Uh, this is Canaan. Um, so not Jewish people. A gentile woman who lived there came to him pleading, have mercy on me.

Oh Lord, son of David, for my daughter is possessed by a demon that's torments her severely. Now, for you non Bible readers, that may [00:07:00] sound kind of hectic and like a movie. But there's all sorts of demonic things like anxiety and stuff like this that's going on nowadays. So let's just say that this woman was tormented with this young girl, was tormented with massive anxiety.

Okay? Um, I dunno this for certain, I'm just making this current to go on verse 23, but Jesus gave her no reply after she recognized him. And I'm adding here, I'm adlibbing, but he didn't even say a word. Then the disciples urged him to send her away. Tell her to go away. They said she is bothering us with all her begging.

This is when I stopped. In fact, if you're looking at my phone, you can see where you call there. There it is. You can see I highlighted that verse right Then verse 24, then Jesus said to the woman I was sent only to help God's lush sheep, the people of Israel, but she came to him and worshiped him.

Pleading again, Lord, help me. [00:08:00] Jesus responded, it isn't right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs. Jesus, that's harsh. Okay? Yeah, she replies. That's true, Lord. But even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their master's table. Dear woman, Jesus said to her, your faith is great.

Your request is granted, and your and her daughter was instantly healed. So now unpacking this a lot here, and let's talk about the women. Um, she, to me, if, if I wrote down some words, her personality, she was brave. Mm-hmm. Okay. She was persistent, she was faithful, and she kept trying, despite massive rejection.

In fact, she goes to Jesus and calls him the son of David, which she's acknowledging that he's in the line of the Messiah. [00:09:00] Mm-hmm. He's the ultimate. And he looks at her. She knows her facts. She does. She knew exactly. I mean, she knew the right words to say. She's well prepared. She's obviously humble because she comes, not contrite, but she comes with a humble approach.

So she is like everything you want when you're approaching someone for something. Yeah. But what struck me is that first off he goes, I'm, this is not for you. This is for my people. But then she comes back with some knowledge and then he hits her with a dog's thing and still she goes, I'm prepared to take the scraps.

I believe your scraps are enough, and I just can't get over the personality of this woman. And I'd love you to elaborate a little bit more of what resonates with you, please. Which she, the persistence. Yeah. I'm not gonna take no for an answer. Um, and I would have to think that she was [00:10:00] desperate. Mm-hmm.

She was in desperation and that had probably given her more boldness than she might've had on an average day. Um, but I, and she was quick on her feet. Yeah. She was quick on her feet. She was witty. She was, you know. And she was not, she never tried to be something. She wasn't. She never tried to say, well, you know, I, I, I think I've got some Jewish roots somewhere in my family.

She said, I know you're right. I don't deserve, yes, I know who you came for and I know that's who you're what focused on, but I'm gonna get some of these scraps. I'm gonna get some of these, these crumbs here and. I just really admired that she, you know, being true to who she was. I mean, she never, she never tried to cover that up or pretend to be something that she wasn't.[00:11:00] 

Okay. Uh, this shows about leaving a legacy and life lessons and leadership and I feel like one of the ultimate leadership roles is parenthood. It's probably the hardest one there is, you know? Amen. People and folks, for those of you who don't know, podcaster and author and bible study leader Emily. She's a mother to boys and I'm a father to girls.

Um, and as you describe her, Emily, I'm like this person that seemed unashamed by who she was confident in, who she was well prepared for every challenge. Bold enough to accept the challenge, right? And, and to do whatever it took. Isn't that kind of like what leaders and parents and stuff should be doing when we bringing up folks who work alongside us for us parent child, children.

Now where, where do you sit on this? Are you with me? Oh, absolutely. Um. And I think it's [00:12:00] so hard to get off that. Um, it's so easy to get off of what you think and parenting your own child and or just your own home, controlling your own environment. It's easy to get distracted and off track by what.

Everyone else is doing, yeah. About what's being posted on social media, about what, you know, newsletter or substack that you've read, giving advice to do this, that and the other. Um, it's so hard to make individual choices for. Each individual child actually, but for your family. Mm-hmm. And I mean, honestly, that, I mean, isn't that, that's our problem.

Well, yes, and, and I would sort of say all these things like, you know, being brave and being bold and, you know, the Bible is littered with be strong and courageous and stuff like that. Mm-hmm. These are timeless principles and I'm [00:13:00] led to sort of say to you, um, and have you respond, we are living in an age.

People are increasingly seeking more and more comfort and they averse to being uncomfortable. Yeah. And the more I look at this situation with this woman, and I'm thankful that you introduced me to this problem. Mm-hmm. That, you know, being uncomfortable is something that any human being who wants to leave a legacy, who wants to be a leader, um, this is what you've gotta get used to because it's almost all but a guarantee in life.

It says so in the Bible. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean it. What if you, I think the legacy that we want to lead and the best legacies are because there's gonna be hard. Yeah. There's gonna be hard, there's gonna be trials, there's gonna be sickness and, and all kinds of things that you're gonna come up against and how you [00:14:00] handle those and manage them.

That's where your legacy lies. That's where you can see what, what you're made of. Yeah. And where your, where your loyalties are and where your faith is, is not where you are, not how you handle the mountaintops, although that's important too, but how you handle those, those plateaus where you're stuck or you feel stuck, or those lulls when you're down in a, in a valley.

Yeah. That's where the important stuff comes. That's where the meat is. That's where all the growth is too. I must, um, as I mentioned to you folks, I love Emily. She's like a sister. She makes me giggle all the time. And, and when we talked about this idea of this woman, we were away at like a business event.

And you didn't. I said to you, okay, which hero? And you just gave me Bible verses and it was almost like you were some angelic being that was sent from heaven to make me read the Bible properly. And so I, so she [00:15:00] texts me just with the Bible verses Matthew 1521 through 28, and then you quickly follow up and also stop Jacob when he wrestles with God in Genesis.

So I'm like, yes ma'am. And we've done Jacob on the show and we talked about him wrestling with God some. I see where you are, and I wanna go and visit this real fast because there's a similarity where Jacob, who is, no, Jacob means the deceiver or the supplanter. Yeah. Is wrestling the angel of the Lord throughout the night, and he's basically seeking God's blessing.

Mm-hmm. And it was an entire long ordeal. And then God said to him, or the angel said to him, who are you? And then he admitted the fact, he goes, I'm Jacob. Deceiver. I've been up to some shenanigans in my life. Alright. Right. Am I wrong? No. So I mean, there's this moment of honesty, just like this woman Constance, [00:16:00] and then God taps him on the hip and he is left with a limp forever.

And Bible scholars say that the limp is emblematic of him being forever dependent on God for the rest of his life. When he became a great leader and he was renamed Israel. Which means let God prevail. And I was looking at this going, you know, this is not a, a, a solo instance in the Bible with this woman.

It always seems like where there's blessing, there's a wrestle. Yeah. Not like God is some supernatural, um, heavenly vending machine. Right. You know, with blessing comes trial. Yeah. And at the end of it all, you will leave a changed person. She did. Yes, Jacob did. Everyone else did. So this is the way I'm looking for you, miss Bible study.

Teacher to elaborate, please.

Well, I, what do you want me to allow? How, what do you mean elaborate? I think you just said everything perfectly well. Well [00:17:00] just 'cause the one thing I, I like, I look at myself and I'm becoming changed through doing this. And, and I look at you and your continence and when, when you're around people, despite people, you shine a light that's palpable.

And this doesn't happen by accident. I feel like great leaders, they don't tell people what to do. People want to just follow them and they've followed to this immeasurable thing within, and I'm seeing all of these things in these people we're studying and I see it in you too. So, wow. You give me way too much credit.

Okay. You give me way too much credit, um, because I'm just.

Well, uh, I'm just a sinner saved by grace. Amen. And

I'm curious, and I read, and [00:18:00] I go down, I, I go down rabbit holes and I have to. Look at it much like this woman, Constance, as we're calling her, when Jesus turns around and looks at her, I, I mean, I often visualize myself like Jesus looking at me going, what? What are you doing? Stop. Uh, sh sh quit talking. Hey, yes, and then I'll add too, you unabashedly, Emily.

That's your next podcast title. She's got a podcast called Nothing but Fine. And when I try to email you this morning, I spelled it nothing with a G and my email was rejected. So it's like typically southern Emily, nothing but fine. And wherever you go, whoever you're with you, Emily, and you shine this light.

And I feel like in terms of being a great person, leaving a legacy for people, um, leading people. All we can be is ourself. Like this woman was like Jacob was and he is wrestled with God and all the other [00:19:00] heroes we study.

You're researching. I'm trying. Can you hear me? Yes, I can. You're good. Oh, here I am. Yeah. Sorry. Um, I'm not technically smart savvy on my, and it just left. Um, well that's very kind. But that's not something that happens. I've not always been that way. Okay. Um, I mean, there have been periods of, and then you get lost a little bit.

Mm-hmm. And I think motherhood and, and being a stay at home mom kind of dampened. Not dampened, but wore out, wore myself out. All right. Yeah. So it, it got a little bit muffled [00:20:00] maybe. Mm-hmm. Um, because there's only so many hours in a day. Yes. And then with time, and then my children are more. Self-reliant.

Now they can, you know, do things by themselves. You know, they're, they're 22, 20 17, and 13, so now they're, I'm not as necessary as I once was to them, which gives me a lot more time to kind of reflect and do things. Um,

but finding that, and I've been in kind of a, and I, but I think we go through these. Ups and downs. Mm-hmm. Ups and downs. Uh, not just trials and, and periods of, but I think that our faith can get stagnant or just, you know, by routine. Yeah. Um, and finding that, and I've been really [00:21:00] struggling with this myself lately.

Just finding it, getting back to that woman who, ugh. I gotta get back to her. Yes. I gotta find her again. I gotta be Jacob who's gonna wrestle all night. Mm-hmm. Who's gonna demand things from the Lord? I can't be so timid and I would say agree or disagree, if you will. I, I'm completely on board, but it's like at the root of that, there's always searching for more.

Yeah. It's like you, you had said, okay, I kind of got flat muffled was your word. But in that being like the woman, you're looking for more, right? It's like there's gotta be more to this situation and then you're not just Oh, a hundred percent. You're not just sitting back and going, okay, well this is my lot in life.

You're like, no, I'm gonna make a difference here. Yeah. And I'm gonna throw myself all in. Well, and two,

when you look [00:22:00] at, I have so much. I, you know, everything I always, ever wanted as a little girl. I wanted to be a wife, and I wanted to be a mother. Well, those were the, those were the prayers and the dreams of my teenage years of college was to find a hus was to, this sounds so stupid. I, I realized that. But, um, to, to, I wanted that so badly.

To have a family and to have children and to do all of that, and so to have all, to have my heart's desire already. You, I've, I think I got to a point where I was like, well, I don't have a, I don't have the right to ask for anything else, okay? Mm-hmm. I've already gotten everything I ever wanted, and why should I demand anything else from God?

But yes, but [00:23:00] I, I hear you and I acknowledge that, but I would argue that in your searching for more, you're actually enriching other people's lives with what you're doing with writing and leading and podcasting and all these kinds of things and joining the show because Yeah, out of, what does it say in the Bible, out of the, uh, outta the abundance of the heart is what comes out of the individual.

Yes. Of my favorite verses ever. Okay. Not sure where that is, but I know where it's Matthew 1234. There we go. Teacher again? Yes, ma'am. Okay, let's get back to Constance. And now we've talked about the person and we've personalized her a little bit. Uh, again, this woman resonated with me in the, uh, in the trying, and here's some things that life lessons kind of jumped out to me.

This, the persistent belief. 'cause clearly she was believing in the fact that the son of David could help her. Mm-hmm. And the faith. And the faith that [00:24:00] corresponds with that. Now faith, I put it, I, I wrote down the definition, faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something. So I'm saying belief in faith can overcome any obstacle.

Yeah. A hundred percent. Can't argue. But isn't it this thing? And this is where I want you to help me. 'cause these are those things we kind of, you know, you put these pictures up in your wall. If you're living in the south, you know me and my house, we will serve the Lord Josh or something, right? So you rather have this nice thing, belief in faith, and you'll overcome obstacles.

The shadow side of that is you gotta be this woman, you gotta be Jacob and be prepared to wrestle. Yeah. Am I wrong? Yeah, a hundred percent. Yeah. Well, like the whole thing, like I kept on looking at this, these interactions and going, yes, at the end of it, it was good news, but it wasn't all sunshine and lollipops on the way.

No, no. That's just, it's what, it's,[00:25:00] 

I got the image of this and, you know, the rock thing. Maybe this was the spirit within, you know, but I, I saw this meme one time about, you know, gushing water won't affect anything but continual dripping of water on one spot and a rock will erode it. Drill a hole right through it. Yeah. And I got this image like continual dripping.

Prayer without ceasing seek. And you'll find all these kind of things where you're in the Bible. All these life lessons that we all hear and go straight over our head. Yeah. Hits you in your soul somewhere. Well, eventually it will. That's, that's the, that's the thing about the Bible though, you, Hebrews is probably my favorite book in the whole Bible.

Right. There's so many good things in there. I mean, in Hebrews is where it says that the, the word is living and active. Mm-hmm. Sharper than any two-edged sword. And I [00:26:00] think that it, it is, I think it's the Holy Spirit. When you sit down and you open it, just like this story, these seven verses where you may read it every day for 10 years, but on one day it gets ya.

Even though you've already, and maybe that's with the dripping, maybe it's been hitting that same spot and then finally it breaks through and you, you figure it out. That's the thing about being in the word is keep, stick with it. Do it because you never know the day that it's gonna be something that you needed so much.

A another exa uh, I was teaching a, um. High school girls Bible study several years ago. Okay. And they, they asked me a very vulgar question, [00:27:00] alright, okay. And I was like, alright, glad I had been in Leviticus lately. All I'll turn to Leviticus girls. Okay. Right. I know what you were talking about. And as I was reading, I read a couple verses to 'em and their face, their mouths all went.

And I was like, yeah, that's in the Bible. Now let's, what does that say to you? And it, it opened up, number one, it just kind of opened the floodgates for more questions. Well, what does this mean? Well, what is that? I'm like, now let's, this is, you know, this is Leviticus, this is before Jesus. We have some grace here.

Yeah, these laws are different, um, and they're so hard to read. Some of that stuff is so boring and so hard to read, and it doesn't make any sense to us. But every once in a while it'll resonate and it'll be exactly the information that you need. Um. Did those girls need to know that? No. Maybe [00:28:00] not. But did it open a door?

Yes, it did. So even you just have to stick with it. Mm-hmm. Stick with it. No kidding. Um, consistency, I guess is the word. And, and consistency. Sometimes boring as well. Yeah. Here's another life lesson, and this came to me humility on one hand and boldness aren't mutually exclusive. Because this woman was humble as she approached Jesus.

But she was bold, you know, so and so many times people are like, well, I gotta be humble, and we become doormats. And then on the other side, well, we gotta be bold. And then you're just obnoxious. Yeah. With this woman, it was a life. This is a life lesson, was this perfect blend between humility and bold. And it's like, you know, discipline and grace.

It's the, it's this fine line we walk. That's right. I couldn't help but look at her and go. Gosh, man, she had it all together. She rarely did in [00:29:00] that moment, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe not all the time, but you're right. I mean, and I, I fully believe she's, she's in heaven. So we're gonna sit down and have a chat when I get there.

I, I, I'd like the, uh, AI notes, please. Yeah. Here's, here's another one. And this is hard, and this is kind of an attitude thing. Um, it says there somewhere that she worshiped Jesus after he had told her no. So she got bad news and she didn't sulk away going, oh man, woe is me. She turned around and worshiped him.

So instead of begging again, then she's like, then the disciples are telling him to get rid of her and, and, and I wanna go, isn't it a gift? Isn't it so beneficial to us if we are in this mindset of being grateful and worshiping in the midst of challenges and trials because it's so easy to go in the opposite direction and then you lose all sorts of motivation and then you kind of become, uh, what was muffled was the word that you used.

Yeah. [00:30:00] You get, you get dis so we get discouraged so easily. Mm-hmm. Because we, especially now, I mean again, we are a instant. Society. We, we expect immediate results. We expect an answer. Right now. We, oh my gosh. Don't give me the, when you're downloading something, don't give me the circle of death. Yeah, no. I needed to be here now.

You know, you know, why isn't the wifi connecting? Why is the, you know, and we are, we are children. That grew up when you, when we didn't have all of those things, right? Mm-hmm. Now our kids don't know anything what? That, they don't know what that's like, but. Just, you know, ai, whatever, we had to go to the local library or I was at Columbus State in the, in the college library, in their card catalog system, going to find books and pulling 'em off the shelf.

I mean, we are so easy. We're so, [00:31:00] we are so conditioned for easy. Amen. And, and, and I heard this from Pastor Steven ick one time. And Steven, if you're listening, I'd love to feature you on the show. Um, he talked about the gap and he took basically Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday and what happened in the Gap.

Wow. And the gist of it all was that there's always growth in the gap. It's like when the seed is planted in the soil, you don't know about it for a while, there's growth and then it matures into a plant. And as you were describing all of this there. The consistency, the patience, the perseverance. This is all this growth time, I guess, for us to become better people, better leaders, you know, more the kind of an individual that when we pass on to the heavenly heavenlys that we leave a legacy that's worthwhile for people.[00:32:00] 

Yeah, absolutely. I mean you, yeah. Okay. I can't, yeah. Have I stolen your words? Um, here's some leadership lessons.

I feel like, you know, 'cause when Solomon, we've done him on the show, we'll probably have to do more. But when he was offered by God, he goes, I'm gonna grant you anything and Solomon riches or whatever you want. And Solomon goes, no, no, I just want wisdom. And so God gave him wisdom and all riches on top of that stuff.

And part of wisdom to me is, you know, the discernment. You know, whether to, whether to hold them or fold them, you know, whether to you, you might have something to say that's true, but it's not helpful to the situation. Discernment. Right. Okay. You're laughing because you know where I'm going. Yeah. So this woman was clearly discerning 'cause she realized that, [00:33:00] look, there's no need for me to go to middle management here with the disciples.

I'm going straight to the boss. Um, and, and so I feel like so many people. We would do so much better with a healthy helping of, you know, to think through a situation completely before we just go ahead and send that tweet or, or post that post or whatever the case might be. Yeah, absolutely. Um, and I, and I, one of our sons is, you know, uh, uh, trying to get into co he's gotten into college.

Mm-hmm. And he's waiting to make decisions. And you know, in the whole process this, with this being number three, that's, that's applied and trying to decide, there's all that gap, that waiting where you are always like, who can I call? And I'm terrible at this. I'm immediately, when someone tells me something, a problem or a a something, I'm like, okay, well who can we call?

Who can we, [00:34:00] who can we pull into our circle here? Who can we say I need help? Who can we ask that of? And sometimes that's good and sometimes it's very helpful and is exactly the right decision, but sometimes you just need to be quiet. Amen. You just need to let God do his thing and stay out of it. It says somewhere in the Bible you can probably tell me where it is, be still, and know that I am God.

It's a psalm, but I can't remember which one. Yeah, of course. Okay, well, yes, yes, yes, absolutely. Right. Last one. 'cause I know I, I've gotta get you out here. I'm on a time crunch. The woman Constance had incredible composure. I mean, I, I just keep, like you, you say you put yourself in her shoes. Like I can imagine, I've summon up the courage to go to that dude over [00:35:00] there, and I've got, I've, I've practiced this in front of the mirror thousands of times, and I bumble out.

Please help me. I, I need help with my child. And I get, no, I'm not for you. She didn't just freak out and throw tantrum and walk away. She maintained her composure and she just kept going. Gosh. Don't you feel like this is key to long life success and consistency? Yes. Well, I mean, it's the key to everything.

I mean, it's the, it's the, the magic bullet. Yeah. It's the. Because God doesn't ever just, very rarely, I shouldn't say he never, but very rarely does he just give you what you ask for. Um, sometimes, a lot of the time, me personally, every time you have to wait, you [00:36:00] have to wait and you have to see, and that's where you see what kind of faith you have.

That. See, I mean, could this, this is a little bit of a, I mean, he knew and because she didn't turn around and give up, he knew that she really believed what she was saying. Yes. Would you say that that gap time, this sort of character building God is kind of Yeah. Pulling out character as a leader, as a person, absolutely.

Yeah. 'cause you're trust him because look, the good news at the end of it was Jesus goes woman. Is your faith. Mm-hmm. And that was it. That, that the child was healed and everything ended up well. I'm certain she became an evangelist. Yep, me too. Whether she wanted to or not, it was happening. Well, 'cause just look at, look who, because her daughter wasn't with her wherever the daughter was, whoever she had left her with the immediate.

It says that [00:37:00] she was healed from that very hour and her mom was not right there with her. So whoever she was with in that moment, the immediate change that happened and people, I mean the neighbors, the family, the n, the school, wherever they came in contact with, everyone saw the difference in her that immediately and the testimony then that, that, that they had.

Girl and the, and the mother, the one who was healed and the one who asked that testimony is just worth more than gold. That what you describe people who watching this, if you don't, folks go to YouTube, you'll see it in Emily's face. It's, it's like a glow and it's a passion and it's palpable. And I feel like, 'cause it's, it's hard to be.

The Christian person in the workplace sometimes. Oh yeah. You know, to [00:38:00] take a stand for your faith and it takes bravado and it takes courage. Uh, it's easy to slink into the shadows like Peter, you know, and say, well, no, I don't know that stuff, you know? And so, right. Yeah. You're laughing. Oh, I have a lot of Peter moments too.

But, but when you do it, I was saying this to my wife the other day, it's almost liberating in a way. And you feel this other worldly confidence. Mm-hmm. Confidence to be unabashedly Emily. Yeah. And that's what I see in you. Well, thank you, mark. My pleasure. Right. And now I've gotta get you out your butt. You ask hard questions.

Well, this is payback because folks, I was on nothing but fine. I see. I said that correctly. Nothing but fine one day. You pitched me some hard questions and I fumbled my way through it, and it was, no, you were perfect. And it doesn't matter because you sound so soothing when you answer. Thanks. That's like 10 IQ points.
