EP #65: Healing Through Transition: Ransom Roberts on Energy Work

Tony Hills & Ransom Roberts Episode 65

What makes Ransom Roberts with Xpansion with Ransom a good neighbor?

What happens when life suddenly grabs you and demands change? For Ransom Roberts, founder of Xpansion with Ransom, that moment came when she found herself jobless and living in her car—on her birthday, no less. This pivotal experience led her down an unexpected path from biochemistry student to energy healer specializing in life transitions.

During our conversation, Ransom dives deep into the misunderstood world of energy healing, addressing the skepticism many feel about practices they can't see but can certainly feel. "We throw the words out a lot," she explains about energy, "but nobody really understands what that means." Her approach bridges this knowledge gap by helping clients understand the direct connection between their emotional state and physical symptoms, particularly those facing grief, major life changes, or end-of-life transitions.

Working extensively with hospice patients, post-surgical recovery, and those battling serious health conditions, Ransom emphasizes that healing is a partnership—one where she provides just 30% of the work while the client contributes 70% through willingness to be vulnerable. "If you allow yourself to, you'll get the healing you need," she shares. "But if you're still scared or guarded, then we're going to see that play out as well." This refreshingly honest perspective challenges us to take ownership of our healing journey while offering the compassionate space needed to do so.

Whether you're curious about alternative healing methods or navigating your own life transition, Ransom's story reminds us that sometimes our greatest challenges become our most profound teachers—and potentially, our life's purpose. Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Tony Hills.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a life transitional healer? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing our good neighbor Ransom Roberts, with Expansion with Ransom Hi thank you so much. How's it going today? It's going well. Thank you so much for having me. You're welcome.

Speaker 3:

You're welcome, we're excited to have you on the show, so tell us about your business. Yeah, so Expansion with Ransom was founded a little over three years ago. It started with just overall, just energetic tune-ups making people feel good, until I realized that my audience was people going through significant life changes, which then transformed it into being very specialized within grief, deep transition, significant life transitions, as well as people who are transitioning onto the other side and their family. Who is coping with that.

Speaker 2:

Okay, how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so honestly, it was very random. Honestly. I started off going to school I was double majoring in biochem and Spanish and then I just realized, like school is just not it. I was dreading it, I was finding that resistance. And then a few years later I got this job, working in ophthalmology, and I met this girl and she was like, hey, come down to the store, I think you'd really like it. And then one thing led to another. I found my teacher and next thing, you know, I'm like, oh, this is what I'm supposed to be doing. And I haven't looked back since.

Speaker 2:

That's awesome. What are some myths or misconceptions in your industry?

Speaker 3:

OK, yeah, so with the work that I do, there is a lot of skepticism. I mean, it just kind of comes with it. We're talking about energy and it's not something that is visible to the eye, it is just something that we feel a lot of people talk about. Oh, the energy is weird, or energy that I just didn't like. The energy we throw the words out a lot but nobody really understands, like, what that means, and so I really focus on helping people understand how the energetics work with the body. So I focus a lot.

Speaker 3:

Like a lot of my people come through hospice care, post-op recovery from surgery. I also have people who have had cancer and autoimmune diseases who see me and we get to help them understand or I get to help them understand how their body is reacting, because there's an imbalance somewhere in that mental or emotional realm. So I give that education of letting them know like these things are all playing a part. Like you made that decision and now this is how your body's reacting, like the two play a part. It's not just, oh, I'm living my life and now my body just hates me. It's like, nah, there's always a reason why your body reacts that way.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, who are your target customers and how do you attract them?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so target people truthfully, anybody who's really wanting to confront themselves, like doing the really hard nitty gritty work, is what I say. Wanting to confront themselves, like doing the really hard nitty gritty work, is what I say. Usually those people are people who have some sort of ailment in the body or just like people who have had enough trauma in their life that they're realizing like their emotional well-being is not taken care of. They're very dysregulated and so they come to me. So, honestly, I just open it up to anybody who's just wanting to do that work, who wants to really like stop bad habits, stop the self-sabotage and are ready to move forward with tools and education to help them make more mindful decisions about their life.

Speaker 2:

OK, outside of work, what do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I love nature. What you don't see is like, right in front of me I have all my plants, so I collect all my plants and I'm usually just doing like yoga movement or I just try to like just be outside as much as possible, just so I can remain connected and just calm, because the world is chaotic and nature's quiet.

Speaker 2:

Okay, let's switch gears. Can you describe a hardship or life challenge you overcame, how it made you stronger and what comes to mind?

Speaker 3:

Yes. So I would say it was pretty much kind of like the beginning of this, before I even realized like what was happening. But I was working two jobs. I was working as a general manager at a hotel and then I was also working like part time in retail. And actually on my birthday I got fired from one of the jobs and I had gotten kicked out of the place I was living. So I was sleeping in my car and it was just that day. I was just like this, this cannot go on. Like I didn't know what was happening, like I did not see it coming, and then everything just started unfolding and I was like oh, okay, but definitely like I don't know. Life kind of grabbed me by the balls on that one and just said wiki, wiki, okay.

Speaker 2:

Ransom. Please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about expansion with Ransom.

Speaker 3:

You're coming for an experience. I don't sell products, I don't sell materials. I sell an experience like this. Experience is what you make it. So if you are willing to come and be vulnerable and open to yourself, then we're going to get the best healing out of that. And, like I tell people, it's a 70 30 thing. Like I'm only doing 30 of the work, you're doing 70. I'm holding space to where you can reach that level and if you allow yourself to, you'll get the healing you need. But if you're still scared or guarded, then we're going to see that play out as well.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, Okay, how can our listeners learn more about expansion with Ransom?

Speaker 3:

Yes, so I do have my own website, which I keep up to date for the most part all the time, where you can learn about my services more in depth, how you can book me, where my offices are located. The other place that I'm really active on is Instagram, but as far as like seeing like content content because of the work I do, it's really hard for me to uh get like clips of it because like it's people crying and being vulnerable, like I don't want to show that that's private, but the work is still there, so I try to just put push out a lot on Instagram which is like what I do, how this applies to the workspace. So that's a great way to just see like more of me and my personality rather than the work work, but the work is still part of the personality.

Speaker 2:

Okay, well, ransom, I really appreciate you being on the show. We wish you and your business much success moving forward.

Speaker 3:

Thank you so much for having me. I appreciate you and good luck on your endeavors and where you go with this and all the other people who come on.
