EP #88: Elevating Lives Through Fresh Coats: The Evercrest Painting Story
What makes Josh Wright with Evercrest Painting a good neighbor?
From stethoscope dreams to paint rollers and entrepreneurship, Josh Wright's story is anything but conventional. The owner of Evercrest Painting shares his remarkable journey of abandoning medical school aspirations to build a thriving painting company that's redefining industry standards in Colorado Springs.
With refreshing candor, Josh addresses the common misconception that "painting is easy" or that "all painters are the same." He reveals how these industry stereotypes inspired his mission to create a different kind of painting company—one built on reliability, clear communication, and exceptional quality. Since 2015, Evercrest has specialized in transforming both residential and commercial spaces with a customer experience as polished as their paint jobs.
What truly sets Josh's philosophy apart is his belief in the transformative power of quality paintwork. "When people feel comfortable and proud of their spaces, it elevates their entire life," he explains, connecting his trade to a deeper purpose. This isn't just about applying color to walls—it's about creating environments where people thrive. From starting as a one-man "chuck in the truck" operation to developing systems and leading teams, Josh's business evolution reflects his commitment to raising the bar in an industry often plagued by vague quotes and missed deadlines.
When he's not revolutionizing the painting experience, you'll find Josh embracing Colorado's outdoor lifestyle through mountain biking, camping, and hiking with his family. Connect with Evercrest Painting on Instagram and Facebook to glimpse behind-the-scenes insights or visit evercrestpainting.com to discover how they might transform your space—and perhaps your entire outlook on life.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Tony Hills.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of an awesome painting company? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing our good neighbor Josh Wright, with Evercrest Painting. Josh, how's it going?
Speaker 3:It's going well.
Speaker 2:Tony, thanks for having me Awesome. Hey, we're excited to learn about your business, so tell us about your company.
Speaker 3:Yeah, awesome. Yeah, so I own Evercrest Painting. We're located in Colorado Springs. We've been around since 2015. We specialize kind of in high quality work, clear communication, smooth customer experience, and then we do commercial and residential paint jobs.
Speaker 2:Okay, that's awesome. How did you get into this business?
Speaker 3:Oh, man, I was going through college and some life events happened and I was like man, I don't want to be a doctor anymore. I pulled my car actually, and decided owning a business was the right fit for me, for whatever reason, and started as a one man kind of chucking the truck, as we like to call them in the painting world, back in 2016. And we've kept growing ever since.
Speaker 2:Okay, what are some myths or misconceptions in your industry?
Speaker 3:oh, man, the big one is. We hear it all the time oh, painting super easy, everyone can do it. And, uh, or, all painters are the same kind, um, and, and they're not wrong to some ways, painting can be easy, uh, but honestly, the painting industry is, it's full of a lot of missed deadlines, vague quotes and poor communication and, honestly, that's why I built Evercrest and what we're really trying to change is to, you know, try to change the industry as much as possible for the better and provide the best service we can to our clients okay, awesome.
Speaker 2:Who are your target customers and how do you attract them?
Speaker 3:Yeah, awesome. So our main clients are either homeowners and businesses. Honestly, they have to care about quality and reliability. That's why it kind of floats our boat and who we serve the best. So we want people who really care about their spaces and where they live and work. Our mission is pretty simple and we believe that when people feel comfortable and proud of their spaces, it elevates their entire life, and I really think a good quality paint job can really help people execute and elevate their entire life. I know that sounds crazy it's just paint, as I hear people say but I really do believe that like that really helps people out in their whole life.
Speaker 2:Okay, outside of work, what do you do for fun?
Speaker 3:Oh man, I'm a big mountain bike rider. I ride a lot. Pretty much anything outdoors related Me and my family. We like to camp, hike, backpack. If it's outside, we do it, and that's usually where you can find us. Yeah, that's what we love to do.
Speaker 2:All right, let's switch gears. Can you describe a hardship or life challenge that you overcame, how it made you stronger and what comes to mind?
Speaker 3:Oh, there's been a lot. Honestly, probably the hard one initially was when we were first starting out. Like I said, I never wanted to be a painter. My whole life own a painting company. I didn't want to do any of that and I wanted to be a doctor, and that was the whole plan. But for starting out, you do everything right, you wear every hat, you have to do everything, and my business knowledge was next to zero probably, as we could say, and so just learning how to do everything was super exhausting. So over the years, just learning how to build systems, lead teams and then just create something sustainable, that's been the hard part, or one of the challenges that I think we've overcome. Obviously, we're still working on it. We're not perfect, but that foundation has kind of got us to where we are now.
Speaker 2:Okay, Josh, please tell us. This is one thing they should remember about Evercrest painting.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, I wish or I want people to know how much we like thought and care goes into each paint project that we do. We're not, we're not just slapping paint on walls. We were really trying to help people feel at home or feel comfortable going to work and proud of their space. It really does matter and we're just trying to really radicalize the whole painting experience to make it feel more personal, a lot more professional and then worth every penny people spend on us.
Speaker 2:Okay, how can I listen to learn more about Evercrest painting?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so the easiest way is just go evercrestpaintingcom visit our website, but also, honestly, the best way is find us on Instagram. Just it's at Evercrest painting and you can also find us on Facebook. That way, we share a lot on Instagram and then we share a lot of behind the scenes and stuff that maybe people aren't normally exposed to for painting industry things. So if you're just bored or looking for more information, social media is a great way and then, obviously, that website. You can learn a lot more about us.
Speaker 2:Okay, well, josh, I really appreciate you being on the show. We wish you and your company much success moving forward Awesome. Well, thanks for having me, tony.
