The Farmers Club Podcast

Episode 39 - A preview of the Kate Burke podcast

Dwain Duxson Season 1 Episode 39

Kate Burke has spent a lifetime in the Ag space and has worked alongside Farmers throughout her career. I've said it before: Kate gets Farmers and knows what makes them tick.

You can only do this by closely observing the human side of Farming. Kate is a deep thinker, and when working in a consultancy role with Farmers, she has the ability to adapt to each situation, which can differ from one Farmer to another.

Kate has just finished her 2nd book called "Succession", which will be a must-read for anyone who is in a family Farming situation. I asked what does succession means to Kate, and she said she sees it in 2 ways: 1) it's a transfer of responsibility, and 2) it's a transfer of assets. This is a simplified version, and there are many more complexities that lead to these two main pillars.

Kate loves the education and training side of Agriculture and also enjoys helping Farmers solve their problems. She gets a kick out of seeing the penny drop with Farmers when they get it.

We strongly believe that succession is the biggest issue in Ag, and the more people we have with the credentials that Kate has, the better off the Farming industry will be.

Head to Kate's website here to purchase, and if you haven't bought her first book, "Crops, People, Money and You", there are bundling options where you can purchase both.

I enjoyed this chat because Kate outlined so many important succession-related things that I never ever thought of. We went deep on the subject of succession.

I hope you enjoy. End of message.
