What if “ready” isn’t a feeling you chase but a fact you live from? We open Scripture to Mark 6, Matthew 28, Luke 9, and Matthew 17 to show why Jesus’ authority changes how we move through the world—lighter, bolder, and filled with purpose. The twelve were sent with almost nothing but returned with stories of healing and deliverance. That same pattern holds for us today: travel light, trust God’s timing, and act on what you already carry.

We talk about the gap between flesh and spirit and how subtle distractions keep us from stepping into what God has already authorized. From the Great Commission’s order—authority before assignment—to Jesus’ call to exercise mustard-seed faith, we frame spiritual growth as a practice of obedience. You don’t manufacture power; you align with Christ, pray in his name, and let love lead. Along the way, we challenge the long “season of rest” that becomes spiritual drift and offer simple steps to re-engage: share your testimony, pray for someone, forgive quickly, and serve where you are.

Expect clear connections between Scripture and daily life, stories that nudge you off the sidelines, and pastoral encouragement to move now. If God provides for lilies and birds, he’ll meet you on the road of obedience—supplying wisdom, courage, and compassion right when you need them. You’re not waiting on perfect conditions; you’re responding to a perfect Savior who has already called and equipped you.

If this message strengthens your faith, share it with a friend who needs courage today, subscribe for more Bible-centered encouragement, and leave a quick review to help others find the show. What’s your next bold step of faith this week?

SPEAKER_00:

What's going on, everybody? Thank you for tuning in to this episode of Beyond Sunday. I am your host, Pastor Lee Day, and I pastor Christ Family Outreach Church located in Amelia, Virginia. Today's topic, here it is. You are ready. You are ready. You may be thinking, ready for what? Well, we're going to get into the word of God. That's right. We're taking a deep dive into the word of God today, my friend. So if you got your Bibles, I want you to get them. I want you to open them up. We're going to start in Mark chapter 6, beginning with the seventh verse. Just going to read a few verses to you. But I want to encourage you in the Lord Jesus Christ today and let you know that you are ready. Here we go. Mark chapter 6, verse 7. And he called the 12. Okay, so Jesus is called the 12, and he called the 12 and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in their belts, but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. And he said to them, Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there, and if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them. So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent, and they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them. Now, I'm well aware that not too long ago I went over this particular passage of Scripture with you. Okay? If you tuned into that episode, you're probably thinking right about now this is sounding familiar. But today, my friends, we're gonna look at this text from a different angle because there's so much information that we can glean from packed right here in these few verses, okay? These seven verses remind us and give us the confidence of the authority we have been given by our Lord. Okay? So with that in mind, we're coming from the angle of the authority that we have been given by our Lord. Okay? So with that in mind, we're going to Matthew chapter 28, verses 16 through 20. And this is what it says. Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you always to the end of age. Now listen to me, friends. Jesus just said that he has all authority in heaven and on earth. And I just want to say that's great news. That means that when you and I pray in the name of Jesus, when we have faith in the name of Jesus Christ, when we walk with and we follow Jesus, you too, including myself, we are lining up in the authority of God because when we are in Christ, we fall under his authority. Can we just say amen? Thank God for that. You see, I really believe a lot of Christians, and this is this is this saddens my heart, okay? I really believe that a lot of Christians do not realize how strong they are simply because they operate more in the flesh than they do in the spirit. Okay? I said it. I'm gonna repeat it. Listen, listen carefully now. I truly believe that a lot of Christians do not realize how strong they are because they choose to operate more in the flesh than they do in the spirit. You see, think about this. Satan doesn't want you to know the victory and the authority that God has given you through his son Jesus Christ. Satan wants you focused on the world rather than the kingdom of God. Satan wants you trying to fix your problems yourself rather than having the faith that it takes to receive the provision from God. Satan wants you trying to work in your own strength rather than taking the time and the faith that it takes to call on the name of Jesus Christ. It's our job as Christians, my friends, to know who we are in Jesus. We've got to know whose we are and who we are. Amen. So I want to take a look at Luke's account of what we read earlier, okay, just moments ago, from the book of Mark. So here it is. Listen closely in Luke chapter 9, beginning with the first verse. And this is what it says. And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money, and do not have two tunics, and whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them. And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. You see, my friends, Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and Savior, he called the twelve together, and he gave them power and authority over all demons, and gave them power and authority to cure diseases. Now listen to that, my friends. Do you know how blessed you really are? Do you know just how blessed you really are in Christ? Your heavenly Father, working through your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has equipped you. That's right. He's equipped you. He has given you authority in the name of Jesus to trample over demons. Can somebody out there say amen? He's given you authority in the name of Jesus to trample over demons, to pray for the sick and they be healed. You see, this is not fairy tale stuff, all right? This is real talk that the enemy does not want you to hear. And not only does the enemy not want you to hear it, he doesn't want you to start to believe it. He doesn't want you to begin to walk in it either. You see, Satan does not want you to know the power or the authority or the ability that God has given you. That's right, that God has given you through your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Satan wants you to remain ignorant on that if you are not currently walking in that knowledge and that wisdom. Now, now I need you to understand this. To the Christians, I say this. When it comes to sharing your faith, listen, you're ready right now. That's right. You are ready right now to begin sharing your faith if you're not doing it already. And if you are doing it, I'm gonna encourage you in the Lord Jesus Christ right now to step it up a notch. Take it to another level, my good friends. Because when it comes to loving people like Jesus loves people, we're ready to love people right now. When it comes to praying for people, we're ready to begin praying for people right now. You may say, no, Pastor, I'm nervous. No, no, no, no. I'm not asking you to tap into your own strength or abilities. I'm asking you to tap into the strength and the power, the ability that God has already equipped you with by way of his Holy Spirit. Can we get some people out there saying, Praise God? Amen for that, my good friends. So many people hold off doing these things because they think that they're not ready. But the truth is, you are ready. Satan may have sold you a lie and caused you to wait or to put it off, but I'm here to encourage you today. You're ready. Waiting and putting it off only leads to more waiting and putting it off. And then you see no spiritual growth because no faith has ever been exercised. If you want to see spiritual growth in your life, you gotta begin to exercise it, my friends. If you want to see spiritual growth, you gotta begin to walk in faith. Matthew chapter 17, beginning with the 14th verse, says this. And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and kneeling before him said, Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire and often into the water, and I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him. And Jesus answered, O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me. And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly, praise God. The nineteenth verse says this. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, Why could we not cast it out? And he said to them, Because of your little faith, for truly I say to you, if you have faith like the grain of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing, nothing will be impossible for you. When you do not exercise your faith, you will not get the results that you're looking for. Sounds simple, but man, it's so huge. I'm gonna say it again. When you do not exercise your faith, you will not get the results that you're looking for. In verse 17, Jesus addressed that and he called them a faithless and twisted generation. Jesus again points out the issue in the 20th verse and says it was because of their little faith. Jesus said, with faith the size of a mustard seed, we could move mountains in our lives. Now listen to me, friends. You are ready right now, as children of God, you are ready right now to live for Christ in this moment. There is no more time to wait. The Bible tells us that the kingdom of heaven is at hand, that the kingdom of God is at hand. There's no more time to wait. You gotta walk in that faith right now. You gotta walk in the truth of God right now. You gotta walk in the love of Christ right now. You've got to operate in the power of the Holy Spirit of God in your life right now. You gotta love like Jesus right now. You gotta forgive as you have been forgiven right now. You gotta know who you are in Jesus Christ right now. You gotta know whose you are right now. God through Jesus has given you power and authority over the enemy right now. And it's time, my friend, that you make a declaration and trample over top of Satan right now. That those bondages have to leave your life right now, that those addictions have to go right now, that those people that keep pulling you down and holding you back from drawing closer to God, that they gotta go right now, that the lies of the enemy that you've bought into for way too long has to go right now. You see, that's gonna take faith in believing that you have been given God-given power and authority working on the inside of your life. And you gotta believe. Listen, listen, you better believe you do, because it's the truth, my friend. As a child of God, there is a greater power in you than is in and of the world. Now, if you got your Bibles, we're gonna end up back where we started. So go ahead and turn to Mark chapter 6, beginning with the seventh verse, it says this. And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in their belts, but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. I want you to think about something. Jesus only had them take what they needed, because anything extra in life in the physical realm can potentially hold us back. You see, if you don't have it right now, then you must not be in need of it right now. Hear that again. It may take a moment to chew on it to understand it in faith. If you don't have it right now, then you just don't need it right now. You see, God never leaves us nor forsakes us. So he's gonna give us what you need. He may not give us everything that we want, but he's gonna give us what we need. Can you say amen? Can someone testify out there, listening to this episode right now, and just where you are, say amen to that, because you know that God shows up. He has shown up, he is showing up. In faith, you know he will always show up and provide for you, maybe not what you want all the time, but he's gonna provide for you what you always need when you're in need of it. Amen. You see, we've got to have faith and believe that God will give us what we need in the moment that we need it. If God provides for the lilies of the field and the birds of the air, amen. Amen. This is what scripture talks about. If God provides for the lilies of the field and the birds of the air, then how much more is God going to provide for you as his precious, precious children? Now, moving forward in the text, Mark chapter 6, beginning with the 10th verse, says this. And he said to them, okay, Jesus said to them, Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. And if any place will not receive you, and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them. So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent, and they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them. Now, the disciples of Jesus Christ, here it is, should always be in the mindset of service. You and I included. We are disciples of Jesus Christ. We should always be in the mindset of service. Too many times I it just seems like I see Christians taking breaks, like long breaks. You know what I'm saying? Like extended, extended vacations. We we use this thing, we'll call it a season of rest, you know, and it's like, well, man, you done passed through one season. It's been so long. You ain't been serving in the church for like three, four seasons. Seasons be stretched out so long, it's turned into a year, two years, three years. It's like, man, that is a long season. It's been 16 seasons passed by. You know what I'm saying? I mean, we've got to make sure that we're not lulled to sleep. We've got to make sure that we remain ready with the mindset of service so that when God calls us to go, we're ready to go. When he calls us to lead, we're ready to lead. When when he calls us to speak, we're ready to speak. When when he calls us to pray, we're ready to pray. When he calls us to love, we're ready to love. When he calls us to forgive, we're ready to forgive. In that moment, when he sheds the light on a situation or a person that we're holding a grudge against and and the Holy Spirit convicts us to forgive, we gotta be ready in that moment at all times. We've got to have a mindset to be ready to do whatever God calls us to go do, my friends. And this is this is huge. This is huge that we understand that. And we've got to also walk in the knowledge, we've got to walk in the knowledge that we are ready as children of God to do whatever God calls us to. Not because we've been a Christian for two or three or four decades, not because we've been a Christian and experienced so much stuff. No, no, no, listen to me. We're ready because God has deposited his spirit in us as salvation. That's why we're ready. We're ready because his power is living on the inside of us. That's why we're ready. We're not ready based off of any of our own works or any of our own actions or talent or ability. We're ready simply because God said so. I don't know about you, but that's all I need. That's all I need to hear. That's all I need to know is that I'm ready because God said so. And my friends, I want to encourage you in this podcast today. You're ready. You're ready, my friend, because God said so. Do not buy into the lie of the devil any longer. You are ready. Get out there and love like Jesus. Get out there and witness the truth. Get out there and share the word of God. Get out there and be a help in the name of our Lord to someone. Get out there and share your testimony. Get out there and share with someone how God has rescued you. Get out there and let someone know that Jesus Christ died for you. And because of that, He has come into your life, rescued you, redeemed you, restored you, set you free, and saved your soul. Get out there and encourage someone. Get out there and invite someone to your church. Get out there and pray for someone to offer them hope in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. You're ready, my friend. You're ready. Father, I thank you for the opportunity to share your truth. I pray in the name of the blood of Jesus Christ that every listener has been encouraged by your truth. They are ready. I pray that they would be strengthened and built up by this episode, knowing that they are ready. I pray, Father, that they find themselves in a position right now that maybe they haven't found themselves before or even in a long time. And they would be ready to go, to go and do whatever it is you call them to go and do. That they would understand that not only are they ready, but they're ready because they've been equipped. They've been equipped, Father, with your truth. They've been equipped with your spirit. And Father, in the name of the blood of Jesus, I pray that they receive that truth today. In Christ's name and blood, all God's people said, Amen, amen, and amen. You're ready, my friend. Go do it in the name of the Lord.
