What if the strongest move you can make today is to let go? We walk through Matthew 15:29–31 and watch the crowds bring the lame, the blind, the crippled, and the mute to Jesus—and we see what happens when needs meet His feet. The scene is not sanitized or safe. It’s raw humanity colliding with divine mercy, and it challenges our instinct to tidy our lives before we ask for help. We talk about why the Gentiles’ courage to come anyway still speaks to anyone who feels unworthy, ashamed, or “not ready” to pray.

From there we connect the moment of surrender to the muscle of faith in Matthew 21:18–22. Jesus ties prayer to mountain-moving faith, not as a catchphrase, but as a way of life for people who refuse to doubt God’s character when the outcome takes time. We unpack how faith often looks communal: the blind needed guides, the lame needed carriers, and the hurting needed friends to get them where Jesus was working. This is the church at its best—stretcher-bearers who loan strength when our own runs out.

We also tackle the hard part of surrender: leaving it down. Anxiety tempts us to keep a leash on the very burden we said we released. We share practical ways to resist the urge to pick it back up—naming the issue, laying it down in prayer, answering fear with praise, and replacing rumination with testimony. When the crowd saw healing, they glorified the God of Israel; that same rhythm—come, lay, trust, praise—still reshapes hearts and homes. If you’re carrying a crushing weight, this conversation offers Scripture, prayer, and grounded steps to trade control for peace and watch wonder grow.

If this message helps, share it with someone who needs courage today, subscribe for more, and leave a review so others can find the hope they’re looking for.

Hey, what's going on, everybody? This is Pastor Lee Day on another episode of Beyond Sunday. And I just want to say thank you for tuning in. I passed the Christ Family Outreach Church located in Amelia, Virginia. And if you've not made your way out yet to say hello, please come on by, worship the Lord with us. God is doing great things at Christ Family Outreach Church. If you've got your Bibles in this episode, I've titled this episode At the Feet of Jesus. At the Feet of Jesus. My friends, is there any other place you'd rather be right now? I know I've got some things going on in my personal life. I've got things happening, you know, just life, right? Just life. And man, if I could just trade it all in for the feet of Jesus, like the literal feet of Jesus. Oh, just to be in glory. Just to be in glory right now. And we're gonna we're gonna take a look at this. Matthew chapter 15, beginning with the 29th verse, just reading a few verses, and we're gonna see how we can apply this to our lives right now. So here we go, my friends. Matthew chapter 15, verses 29 through 31. This is what the word of the Lord says. Jesus went on from there and walked beside the Sea of Galilee, and he went up on the mountain and sat down there, and great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them, so that the crowd wondered. When they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they glorified the God of Israel. We're going to talk, as I mentioned a moment ago, about the feet of Jesus. What happens at the feet of Jesus? What happens when you place yourself at the feet of Jesus? What happens, my friends, when you lay your stuff down at the feet of Jesus? The 29th verse again says this, verses 29 and 30. Pay close attention. Jesus went on from there and walked beside the Sea of Galilee, and he went up on the mountain and sat down there. Verse 30. And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them. My friends, the reason it says great crowds came to Jesus was because his reputation was growing. People were being healed by Jesus Christ, and the word was getting out. Many came to see Jesus, many came to hear Jesus, and many came to be healed by Jesus. Now, pay close attention to the details in the 30th verse. It says, and great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others. Now I want you to listen, pay close attention to the condition of these folks. They were lame, they were blind, they were crippled, they were the mute and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them. Look at who the great crowds brought with them. And again, as I mentioned, notice their condition. They brought with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others. Now, even today's greatest physicians, my friends, even today's greatest physicians, the greatest minds in medicine, our most advanced treatments, our finest surgeons, our greatest hospitals cannot fix and mend everything back to normal. These were some really extremely serious issues that these people had. Now, listen, the size of the issue did not keep people from approaching Jesus Christ with their issue. I want you to hear that. The size of the issue did not keep the people from approaching Jesus Christ with their issue. So I want you to consider this question this morning. What holds you back? What holds you back? What holds you back from bringing to God your biggest, your deepest, your darkest issue, your biggest problem? What holds you back? Because these folks, regardless of what they had going on, they brought it all to the feet of Jesus. If the lame came with their needs, and the blind came with their needs, and the crippled came with their needs, and the mute came with their needs, then surely you and I can come to the feet of Jesus Christ with our needs. Can somebody out there say, Amen? Praise God to that. Understand who these people were at this point in the text. These were Gentile people. They would have been considered by many as unclean, and yet still we see these unclean people, these unworthy folks placing their issues at the feet of Jesus Christ. Every person listening, if you think hard enough, can come up with something, some type of unclean thing to place at the feet of Jesus Christ. Now, think about this. Think about this. Lord, show me, show me what's in me that's not a view that I need to give to you. That should be our heart cry. Really, that should be a heart cry daily. Father, show me what's in me that's not a view that I need to give to you, that I need to lay down at the feet of my risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through prayer. I need to lay this down through prayer at the feet of Jesus. And as the Lord shows you what needs to come out, well, the next step is this. You got to truly give it to him and let him handle it. Matter of fact, if you're taking notes, you can write this down. Just let God take over. Just let God take over. Something I feel led to mention before we go any further. The people's position had to be a position of faith. The people's position had to be a position of faith. The lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, they had to travel to get to where Jesus was. And in some instances, friends, in some instances, they had family, they had friends, relatives had to get them to where Jesus was. The blind people weren't just getting up walking, hoping they were going to end at the right place. The crippled and the lame weren't weren't weren't weren't able to just drag themselves there. They had to rely on friends and family to get them there. But also, it took faith. Faith is what kept the people motivated. They didn't get there thinking that they were going to go there and it and it be a failure. No, they had to have some level of faith to know that this man named Jesus was who he proclaimed he was, and he was healing people already. They had to have some faith. Faith is what kept them motivated. And it was because of their faith that Jesus could heal them. It was their faith that allowed them to be healed. Now, with that in mind, if you got your Bibles, I want you to go to Matthew chapter 21. And when you get to Matthew chapter 21, I'm going to begin reading to you from the 18th verse. But this is what it says. And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but leaves. And he said to it, May no fruit ever come from you again. And the fig tree withered at once. And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How did the fig tree wither at once? And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea, it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive if you have faith. We would all do well to remember every moment of every day, my friends, what Jesus said in the 22nd verse. He said, and whatever, and whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive if you have faith. So faith is your position. It's the position that you come from. If you're going to set anything at the feet of Jesus, you must lay it down in faith. It takes faith to leave it at the feet. Once you lay it down, you can't go back and pick it up again. That shows a lack of faith. That shows fear and anxiety setting in that maybe it's not going to work out at the feet of Jesus. No, when you lay it down at the feet of Jesus, you got to keep it at the feet of Jesus. That takes faith. Matthew chapter 15 and the 30th verse. Okay. Matthew chapter 15, verse 30. Listen here now. Listen, my friends. And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them. Look at what happens to the people that came in faith and placed their issues at the feet of Jesus. Verse 30 says, They put them at his feet, and Jesus Christ healed them. Now there's something else we must take a look at here. It's the power of praise and the testimony. The power of praise and the testimony. The 31st verse, Matthew 15, 31, says this. They see the miracle, they've experienced the miracle. They're glorifying God. It's our job, it's our calling to praise God. It's the reason we've been created. We're here to glorify the Father. The people were filled with wonder, and they glorified God and praised Him. So, so here's a question for you, the listener. How often are you in wonder due to the working of God's spirit? Because the more time we spend with him, the more time we will spend in wonder and praise. Oh, he's wonderful, my friends. Oh, he's wonderful. How great it is that we can take our issues, our problems, our sin, our concerns, our storms, and lay them at the feet of Jesus Christ. Will you trust him today? Will you trust him with what you have going on in life right now? Will you trust that the same things that were happening at the feet of Jesus then are the same things you can lay down and see take place at the feet of Jesus now? My friends, he was faithful then, he is still faithful today. I want to encourage you in the Lord, take whatever it is. I don't care how large it seems, I don't care how strong of a weight it feels bearing down on you and lay it at the feet of Jesus. And I mentioned just moments ago something that I'm gonna repeat right now. When you lay it down, you cannot go back and pick it up again. That shows a lack of faith. Let me just point this out. When you lay it down, don't lay it down nervously. Don't be nervous about it. Because you're trusting that God the Father is gonna pick it up for you. You're trusting that God the Father is gonna handle business. You're trusting that God the Father is going to do what only God the Father is capable of doing. So when you lay it down, you lay it down not worried about looking back at it. You lay it down with great faith, saying, you know what? God has this. I'm not gonna allow anxiety to move in anymore. I'm not gonna allow fear to come in anymore and attack me. I'm not gonna accept those hits against my heart from the enemy. I'm gonna lay this down with great faith, knowing that the God of heaven and earth, the creator of all things good, Yahweh, is taking care of this. I'm gonna place this at the feet of the risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He went to the cross for me and he defeated death. He rose from the grave, my friends, so surely he can handle my problem. He rose from the grave, so surely he can handle your problem. Can somebody out there just say amen to that, my good friends? So no matter what it is that's that's plaguing you, no matter what it is that that is burdening you right now in this moment, I just want to encourage you in faith, lay it down at the feet of Jesus and all will be well with your soul. Let's pray. Father, in the name of the blood of Jesus Christ, I lift up every listener, especially the ones right now in this moment that have something they need to lay down. Father, I pray that they would have faith, enough faith in Jesus, that they would just give to you right now in this moment what it is. As a matter of fact, if if you're willing to pray with me right now, just just tell the Lord right now what it is you're laying down. Just just put it out there, just tell them right now. Father, we lay down this person or these people. We lay down our concerns, we lay down our fear and our anxieties over this issue or this person or these people. We leave that there at the feet of Jesus as well. Father, we we lay it down and and we ask for your help. Father, we pray that our faith would be increased, that we would trust you, Father, as we trust you to take it, we trust you to handle it. As we trust you to take it, we trust you to handle it. And Father, we don't want to turn back around and pick it up. It's plagued us long enough. It's burdened us long enough. We're not gonna circle back around and pick this up. We're believing that the next time we see this, it's gonna be fixed. Father, we're we're praying for your results, not our results. We want God's results. And we trust you. I pray that your Holy Spirit that lives inside of us as believers, I pray that your Holy Spirit will give us confidence, that we would be bold in our faith, that your Holy Spirit would give us peace like we've never experienced before, that you would comfort us, and that you would you would again remind us of the first love and that we can trust in you in and through all things. So we love you, we praise you, we honor you, and we lay these burdens down at the feet of Jesus, and we're not gonna pick them back up. In the name and the blood of Jesus Christ, all God's people said, Amen, amen, and amen. My friends, if you just laid it down, I want to say, great job, job well done. Now, leave it there.
