 Hi and welcome back. I’m Alvat Garewal, and today’s episode is one I’m particularly excited to share with you.
 It’s about something we all struggle with — focus. In a world full of constant distractions, how do we stay locked in on what truly matters?

I recently watched a powerful moment in nature — a lion on the hunt. And it made me think: if a lion can stay focused amidst chaos, why can’t we?
 We’re constantly pulled in every direction — notifications, social media, emails, people — but sometimes, to truly succeed, we need to block out the noise and fix our eyes on the goal.

So, in this episode, I want to explore what it means to truly focus. To hunt one thing.
 To stop chasing everything… and finally catch something that counts.

Podcast Episode: The Hunt 

Hi, I’m Alvat Garewal, and welcome back to the podcast. 

Today, I want to talk about something that affects every one of us — focus. Or more accurately, the constant battle to stay focused in a world full of distractions. 

I call this one... "The Hunt." 

Let’s begin with a question.
 Have you ever found yourself ready to do something — something important — and just at 

that moment... ping... your phone buzzes? A message comes through.
An email notification.
A new post on social media. 

And before you know it, 10 minutes have passed, and you’re watching videos of people building swimming pools in the jungle. 

And what you originally set out to do? Lost in the noise. 

We live in a time of unprecedented distraction.
 Our phones are essentially little dopamine machines — trained to lure us away from the 

task at hand with something shinier, louder, quicker.
 Add to that the constant notifications from smartwatches, apps, emails, group chats, even 

digital billboards on the street...
 It’s a battle for your attention — every single day. 

Our Modern Problem 

I’ll be honest — this isn’t just something I’ve observed. It’s something I’ve experienced. 

There have been so many times when I’ve sat down to write, reflect, or simply think — and before I know it, I’m halfway through reading the news, checking the weather in a city I’m not even in, or browsing something completely irrelevant. 

It’s like every moment of stillness is an opportunity for distraction to creep in. And that brings me to the lion. 

The Lion’s Focus 

A few days ago, I was watching a documentary about lions in the wild. 

There was a lion stalking a herd of antelope. Now, there were dozens in the group — all running, scattering, darting across the plain. 

But the lion? He wasn’t interested in all of them. He locked eyes on one.
 Just one. 

As the herd moved, he moved with them, but his eyes didn’t wander. Even as other antelope darted past him, some even closer than his target, he didn’t break his gaze. 

He chased the one he had chosen from the beginning. 

Now think about that for a moment.
 That’s focus. That’s instinct.
 It’s not just hunting — it’s decision, commitment, clarity. 

Even if the lion didn’t catch that antelope, the focus increased his chances of success more than if he had run aimlessly after the crowd. 

Because chasing everything means catching nothing. 

Lessons from the Lion 

And maybe that’s what we need to learn.
 To hunt like the lion.
 To drown out the distractions, the noise.
 To focus on one thing — the thing that matters most — and pursue it with clarity and 

purpose. 

Now I know...
 People might not like it when you ignore them while you're “in the zone.”
 You might miss out on a few memes, a few conversations, maybe even an invitation or two. But what if that one moment of deep focus — that one hour without distraction — is what 

moves your life forward? 

Taming the Tech 

Let me share something I’ve thought about doing:
 When I need to focus — truly focus — I will leave my phone in another room. silence the watch.
 close the tabs on the computer.
 It will be uncomfortable at first — like I’m missing out.
 But what I’m really doing is gaining back control. 

Focus is a muscle — and if we don’t use it, we lose it. 

And I know I’m not alone in this.
 I’ve spoken to friends who all say the same thing.
 Distraction isn’t just a nuisance — it’s stealing their time, their creativity, and their peace of 

mind. 

Finding Your Target 

So here’s a thought — what’s your antelope? 

What’s the thing you’ve been meaning to do, the goal you’ve set but haven’t followed through on? 

It could be starting a new habit, working on a business idea, learning a new skill, spending quality time with a loved one... 

Whatever it is, don’t chase five things at once. Pick one.
 Focus.
 Hunt. 

A Personal Challenge 

Here’s my challenge to you this week:
 Set aside one hour a day to be completely undistracted. No phone. No notifications. No background noise.
 Just you... and your target. 

See what happens.
 See how much progress you make when your attention isn’t being sold to the highest 

bidder. 

Final Thoughts 

We live in a world that thrives on distraction — but your best work, your deepest thoughts, your strongest relationships — they all live on the other side of focus. 

Like the lion in the wild, sometimes you have to block out the herd and lock in on what matters most.
