Hi
Ariana:Um,
Lura:welcome to God Crush. We are so excited to share with you that finally, our new podcast, God Crush is on its way. God Crush is a show about being in love with God, queer stuff, joy, justice, and chosen family. Your hosts are me, Pastor Lora Gruen,
Ariana:And me, Rabbi Ariana Katz.
Lura:best friends and clergy who live and serve congregations in the greater Baltimore area.
Ariana:We potted up in the first month of the COVID 19 pandemic in March 2020, after only knowing one another casually as colleagues.
Lura:I'm glad that worked out.
Ariana:now we're chosen family and no, not just because we're trauma bonded from the pandemic, although definitely a little bit, have shockingly Um, and a shared pantyhose line.
Lura:I think you should tell them what a pantyhose line is.
Ariana:Well, yeah, we made it up. So many of our personal and professional practices and rituals transgress traditional positions that are held by our coreligionists. We understand modesty to be something that people can choose to practice, but that having bare legs in worship isn't a transgression. an anti Zionist Jew. We're both queer and sex positive, but we were raised in formal church and synagogue environments. And so every once in a while we stumble over something that is too scandalous for even us, and that's when it crosses our pantyhose line. See, we don't feel obligated to wear hosiery anymore to walk into our houses of worship, but sometimes we just have that boundary. we name those, we'll cackle at them, and we'll see what we can learn from them too.
Lura:We hope that bringing the voices of two queer femme clergy into the mix opens up more doors in our shared traditions. We hope that this show will become a place for folks to call in with their insights and questions, where we can interview guests and run seasons on specific themes. Our first season will explore a queer religious sexual ethic alongside other foundational questions.
Ariana:We hope that you'll join us for this project and share your insights and questions. I'm Arianna
Lura:And I'm Laura.
Ariana:and God is totally going to call you back.
