The Sound of Healing
'Intuition' by Sophia Rayne
What if a single lyric could become a turning point? We sit down with Bay Area artist Sophia Rain to unpack the story behind “Intuition,” a song she wrote as a teen that now carries millions of streams and countless personal testimonies. Sophia opens up about the moment 444 appeared in a dangerous situation, how that synchronicity snapped her into clarity, and why trusting her inner compass changed the trajectory of her life.
We explore the tension between logic and inner knowing, reframing intuition as a trainable sense rather than a vague hunch. Sophia shares how breathwork became a practical doorway to presence, with the mantra “Exhale to find release, inhale to find my peace” anchoring a simple daily practice. You’ll hear how Revelation Breathwork helped move stuck energy without over-explaining it, and why music—chosen by artists and sequenced with care—can carry “codes” that support healing. From sobriety and self-respect to the courage to stop chasing highs, Sophia offers grounded insight into what real change asks of us: tenderness, repetition, and the willingness to feel what we’d rather avoid.
We also invite you into the Medicine Women of Soul experience, where breath and music meet in a live online container designed to help you hear differently and heal deeply. Sophia talks about creative influences like Jay Shetty and Rick Rubin, her roots in spiritual community, and how ancestors and angel numbers still shape her path. If you’ve ever ignored a nudge and paid for it later, this conversation will feel like a homecoming to what you already know.

Welcome back to another episode of The Sound of Healing. I am here with an incredible guest, Sophia Rain. Sophia, thank you so much for making the time to be with us today.
SPEAKER_01:Absolutely. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it's been such a joy getting to know you and in this context as we do this collaboration with the medicine women of Seoul, and so we're having each on as a guest here. And what we do at the Sound of Healing is we focus on one song, and it's a song that we have breathed to in our online live Revelation Breathwork classes. And you have several songs that we've been breathing to for quite a while now, and we're going to focus on the song Intuition. But before we get there, I'm going to read your bio to share with our community a little bit about yourself. Sophia Rain is a Bay Area artist devoted to creating authentic music from a genuine, heart-centered space. Drawing inspiration from her life experiences and spirituality, her songs reflect a deep exploration of self-discovery and transformation. With a sound that blends alternative pop and soul, Sophia crafts melodies that resonate on a personal and universal level, inviting listeners to connect, heal, and grow alongside her.
SPEAKER_01:Thanks so much for having me. I'm excited to dive into this with you today, Jason.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, same. And so we like to start by listening to the song so we can get into the vibe and have our listeners get into the vibe as well. So I'm going to play it here.
SPEAKER_02:A source of love created by divine to shed light on everything I touch. I'm grateful for where I am and who I have become. Pay attention to your feelings, intuition. Exhale to find my east. Inhale to find my peace. Oh no longer. To ease up my mind into it. Blessed in disguise. My angels guiding me with love and light. Reminding me that I'm protected for life. People I sometimes I see with my third. I got a feeling in my soul. And I won't take a guess myself. Cause I know myself. No reason not to trust myself. I guess the people in my life back then. I simply manifested. Manifest. Can't believe I let myself go the way I did, but I reconnected. With my higher self. Focused on my growth and my mental health. I deserve respect and divorce. Cause there's no replication. Trust yourself, you know yourself. No reason why you should doubt yourself. Intuition. Bless it in disguise. My angels guiding me with love and love. Reminding me that I'm protected for life. For lack of feeling, never deceiving intuition. Intuition. You are a source of love created by divine to shed light on everything you touch. Be grateful for where you are and who you have become. We're one.
SPEAKER_00:What a beautiful song. What a beautiful reminder. What a homecoming. Thank you for writing that and sharing with the world.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, you're welcome. Thank you for receiving it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:I think I found it when we were doing a class on intuition, and I just did a very quick Spotify search, intuition. And that was one of the if it wasn't number one, it was number two. So anyone searching for that word is gonna hear the song, and it's amazing. And so share with us where were you in your life when you wrote the song, when it came through, what was going on for you?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so I wrote that song. Um I wrote that song when I was I want to say 16, 15 or 16 years old. And I have I didn't release any music at that time. It was like the second or third full song that I have ever written. And it was the third song I ever released a handful of months later. And um that song is pure alchemy for me. It really stemmed and rooted from a very just unfortunate situation that turned into a blessing, and I was able to pull the blessing and pull that perspective from it. And in that song, I mention 444, the angel number 444. And at the time in my life that I wrote this song, I started seeing synchronized numbers everywhere, and it just took me down this beautiful path of reawakening parts of myself I didn't have access to, or I didn't believe I had access to at the time. And it really connected me with my faith and the angelic beings that I believe are all around us at all times, and with that inner wisdom that we have access to, that um we have to just allow ourselves to be open to receive. So yeah, I'm I'm so grateful that that's the song that has really reached people beyond any others.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, over five million streams, at least on Spotify. So it's clearly uh resonating with people. And what have you heard? Like, have people shared their experience with the song uh with you with this song? Like, what have you heard about the response to it?
SPEAKER_01:Oh my gosh, I've had the most incredible responses from people either messaging me online or that I have the opportunity to meet in person after a show, or what what have you. And um people have told me stories of how their lives have changed, or how they have felt like truly seen and received through that song, and how it's been a catalyst to their own inner evolution or their own healing journeys, or it's been just a support system for them to turn to and to immerse themselves in. And I I feel so grateful to receive any kind of feedback, any kind of um response from my music, knowing that it's making an impact is everything and more to me.
SPEAKER_00:Wow. And you shared about the angel numbers 444, and that time in your life you're seeing a lot of synchronistic aligned numbers. For those people who probably have had that experience, but maybe don't know what to make of it. Can you share what that means for you?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. So personally, my relationship with synchronized angel numbers, I believe that they are universal divine reminders that we are held and protected, that we're on the right path, that we're seen and supported. But I know every single person has their own relationship with them. So I would just highly suggest tuning into your own being and noticing what you're thinking and how you're feeling, or maybe what type of chapter in your life you're going through at the time that you're seeing them, and then find your own relationship with them.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it's really great. And you shared the chat there was it was a hard chapter in your life where this art was born. And we've talked to several artists where some of the best art, the most beautiful, authentic, real, powerful art is born out of some of the hardest times. And are you open to sharing? Like, so the message of the song is to honor your intuition, listen to your intuition, amongst many things. Where do you think people um go astray from that? Where do they maybe not listen to it or they're not even maybe in touch with it? Like, what's the opposite of listening and honoring your intuition?
SPEAKER_01:We are taught that without logic, something cannot be true. Um and I believe that we are far more powerful than we are than we're taught and we allow ourselves to believe, and that we do truly have this additional sense and something that goes beyond sight or sound. Um there's yeah, there's something to be said about really trusting and honoring that inner pull that's within us and that guidance that we're being led by. And I think more often than not, we're taught to trust our intuition because we we don't trust our intuition at times, and we question ourselves and we go down a path or we choose a decision or whatever it may be, that then reminds us after the fact, oh, should I listen to myself? And that that little conscience or whatever, however you relate to it, you know, however you define it, should have listened to that, and then maybe things would have been different.
SPEAKER_00:So I think um, yeah, just trying to to breathe into those intuitive, intuitively led um the direction that we're being pulled in and see where it takes you and see how it might be able to prove that it's worth listening to and so since you are the queen of intuition, you're the messenger of intuition through this this frequency, this song, do like do you are you automatically always in touch with the intuition, or do you still have those things, those nudges or those little maybe doubts or fears or logic where you don't always honor it, or are you like, no, I'm all in now at this point?
SPEAKER_01:I think for the most part, I really do my best to honor and listen to it. I really do. It's actually gotten to a point where like it it's become so second nature for me to just trust where I'm being led that if I for whatever reason go against that grain or against that flow, I should say, and and I'm going against the grain, I it will just be really uncomfortable. Like my body will fall ill, or I'll just I'll just know it in the back of my mind that I'm probably pursuing something that I shouldn't, or whatever it might be. And it'll just be like constantly there until I choose to face it and go the opposite direction. But I'm human, you know, I'm human. I'm going to learn lessons and uh it won't always be perfect. But I also believe that the music, music holds codes. And because this song has been received by so many people, I am always performing it live. It's in every single set list I'm ever playing. Um it's like, you know, we're we're doing a podcast episode now, and this is the subject that we're talking about. So the the codes of this song are very much a part of my world as much as they are for the listeners. So um I think I'm constantly being reminded by my own voice to trust my gut. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. So one of the things I heard you say is is that you're you've refined your listening device. Like you know when you're maybe a little off, or you, you know, you you you see it more now, very probably clearly than maybe did earlier in your life. And let's dive into the lyrics a little bit.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_00:So this this this line exhale to find release, inhale to find my peace. That line feels like a meditation in itself. Can you say a little more about that?
SPEAKER_01:Absolutely. Well, I think those the that line speaks for itself. It's a reminder to breathe and re-center yourself in order to be open enough to receive those whispers, right? Yeah. To be centered and grounded within your own being to make the call of where to go.
SPEAKER_00:Is that something that you do consciously?
SPEAKER_01:I try.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:I try. It's a constant, it's a relearning, it's a practice. You know, they call it a practice for a reason. But yes, yes, returning to the breath, um, a presence, an awareness, a slowness allows me to not be controlled by the thoughts per se, or led. I shouldn't say controlled, but like led by the thoughts or patterns or subconscious, but to find some more awareness and a pulled back perspective to decide whether it's it's truly me or a higher version of myself that is calling those shots or not.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, that's great. And I would invite anyone who's listening to this to just notice when you're more in your mind and your thinking and your intellect and your cerebral, whether it's like in the future and you're worrying or you're anxious or you're just thinking a lot about something, or you're in the past and you're ruminating and you just can't can't stop thinking about something that happened in the past. Like notice your breath and notice your breathing. My guess would be that you're not really breathing at all. You're breathing very shallowly. So just noticing that you can take that pause and deepen in that that line, just exhale to find that release, and inhale to find my peace is a wonderful reminder. So let's let's look at oh, no longer chasing a high to ease up my mind. So this this lyric suggests, at least to me, this idea of like looking outside of yourself for the high or the thing to ease your mind or whatever you're feeling, and then actually coming back to yourself more. Can you share a little bit more about that lyric?
SPEAKER_01:You said that beautifully, Jason. That's exactly it. It's it's about not suppressing or avoiding, yeah, and really returning to oneself. And at that point in my life, I was getting sober at the time. I really was releasing the actual high that I was chasing, and that all those feelings and um experiences that I wasn't facing, I wasn't feeling deeply enough to heal through. So yeah, that's intuition really did change my life. Trusting who I was and my inner compass really did change the trajectory of my life, and letting go of the high and returning to self and to source really got me there. So all right.
SPEAKER_00:I gotta ask at at 15 or 16, like how do you have how do you do that? How do you even know that's available to you at 15, 16?
SPEAKER_01:Oh my goodness. I don't know how to answer that. I really, I'm not sure I do. Um, let's see. Well, I've always had this innate knowing that there was a consciousness, this like divine love, this this God, this universe beyond us and within us that made up of everything and and and anything. I have always known that. Um, but I wasn't actively at the time, at that time in my life, I was really just caught up in being a teenager and going through teenage things and a lot of life changes at the time and you know, relationships and everything in between. And so um when the substance abuse and the relationship that I was in took a turn for the worst, I just got I just hit rock bottom, and the only thing to do was to turn inward and to turn and return to a place of faith. And I think I was just looking for some truth in the human existence. I think I was just seeking something of more value and meaning and to make sense of my life and the world around me. So yeah, I started deep diving, and like I mentioned, the synchronized numbers, they started coming up everywhere. Um and it really was uh just a little spark in the dark to encourage me to keep diving deeper and explore it more. So one book led to another, one podcast to another.
SPEAKER_00:And so that's what I was gonna ask. Like, what was there, what what what were one of the books or podcasts or something that you were like, oh, it gave you kind of the structure to then apply some of this stuff.
SPEAKER_01:Um, I mean, Jay Shetty's podcast comes to mind. Um Rick Rubin, the creative act, came through too. Um The Chicken Soup for the Soul Books as well. Yeah, those were a part of my upbringing too. And I do really have to give credit to my mother and the way that I was raised as well. I wouldn't have known to look for all that I did without her encouraging me to read The Secret when I was like 13. And, you know, we went to the Center for Conscious Living or Center for Spiritual Living here in Sonoma County. I think they have some other locations, but I've always had, yeah, just that those belief systems and the ideology in my life and in my world.
SPEAKER_00:So that helps. Yeah, that definitely helps. And we actually have a series in our Revelation Breath Work membership that's going live right now. I think there's like 23 classes, and it's continuing on that Rick Rubin book, The Creative Act, and each each class is a different theme. So when you shared that, it made me think of that. Yeah. Um it's so good. Yeah, it really is. All right. My angels guiding me with love and life, reminding me that I'm protected for life. So share more about this feeling, this sense of guidance and protection. Like, have there been a moments in your life where maybe you were afraid and then this sense of guidance or protection washed over you or something like that?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so um, My Angels Guiding Me with Love and Light. That okay, so the the song itself, I don't really like to get into the detail of this story because it is it is quite intense. Um, and honestly, I like to prioritize the song itself and the alchemy that it brought and the the beauty and the blessing that those angel numbers created for me. But long story short, in a nutshell, I was seeing all these synchronized numbers, and then I was actually in a situation where I was like completely in danger, and I was okay and I was able to leave. But the reason why everything kind of clicked and I was able to recognize what was happening before I left the situation was because I saw 444 on some clock in this kitchen I was in. So in that moment, um I yeah, my my like heart and stomach dropped and I left and I was safe. And I continued to see the angel numbers and I started to look into them a bit more. And what resonates with me now and will continue to is that it was angelic protection. It was like either my higher self communicating with me or angelic beings communicating with me, but giving me a sign, a signal to trust myself in that moment. Because in that moment, I I if I was really listening to my intuitive guidance, I would have known to leave much sooner than I was, or probably never show up in the first place. Um, but because I was questioning it and then I saw the number, it just it just clicked and made sense in my body. I don't know how else to describe it. And um, yeah, so I always associate 444 specifically with just angelic guidance and protection. And I've always felt protected. I've always felt divinely protected. There's I can't exactly tell you why. I've had um I've had dreams about it. I've had, yeah, like very clairvoyant dreams and beautiful messages within my dreams with my ancestors and angels around me. And I feel their presence sometimes, for sure. Um and I just I just know that I'm so held on a whole other plane than this one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:That's powerful. And it makes it also gives a little context to the lyric that you have that's like intuition saved my life. It did. Really beautiful.
SPEAKER_01:It really did.
SPEAKER_00:I was gonna ask if you knew who your angels are, but you kind of already shared that.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I think I have the closest relationship with my my ancestors who have passed, um, family members who have passed that I just feel are with me, and they have this protective orb around me. Um But yeah, I also definitely believe that there are light beings, love beings that are in my field as well that I might not I might not fully know yet. Or I might not remember, but they're there.
SPEAKER_00:I like that. Remembering, yeah, and they're there. I love it. How do you define healing?
SPEAKER_01:I think I believe that healing is a constant in this human life. And it's it's not something that necessarily ever stops. I think healing and evolution go hand in hand. Um I think that emotional healing takes place when we are able to put our walls down and really face what we're what we're meant to feel. I think feeling and healing go hand in hand. I also think that healing tends to be more challenging or take a longer amount of time when we avoid it. When we avoid the aspects and parts of our journey that need our tender love and care and attention. Um Yeah. I wish I had the answers to that one.
SPEAKER_00:That's be a lot of wisdom there. And why do you think we avoid healing?
SPEAKER_01:I think we avoid healing because it's quite uncomfortable. It's uncomfortable to get so vulnerable with ourselves that we face the depths of our subconscious or you know, no longer operate from a victim mindset. Um or yeah, just like face the really painful or potentially traumatic experiences that we have to go through in this life in order to find inner peace and forgiveness and love. Yeah, it's not easy. It's quite, it can be really quite uncomfortable. But it is, in my opinion, far easier to face that stuff and just go through the discomfort of that journey than to avoid it knowing that I'm avoiding it and that I'm not evolving, I'm not growing. Um yeah, that's way more challenging, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, the pain of like staying where we are, especially when we know that it's just the fear holding us back, which can be really hard.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Yeah, that yeah. Yeah, and sometimes it's a matter of like praying and asking for the tools, asking for the resources and the help to get to that next step, because it can be really uncomfortable to try to do it alone, or or just you feel lost trying to do it alone. So I think asking for help and seeking resources and guidance can be um can be really helpful and super supportive to the journey of healing. But yeah, it's inevitable. We signed up for it.
SPEAKER_00:And that's a great segue into Revelation Breath Work. And we had this wonderful experience that I was privileged to facilitate with yourself and Malka Russell and Sierra Marin and Sister Stone. Can you share a little bit about that experience? What it was like for you to breathe, do the Revelation Breath Work, the music, being online with your sisters?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it was beautiful. So the breathwork itself was um a lot harder than I expected it to be. Like it took a lot more presence and effort than I anticipated. But with that um that practice and just being so present in it and listening to the songs with those codes and with that healing encoded in them, you know, um, I could tell my body was yeah, just moving through some stagnancy that I still to this day don't really know what it was. And that's okay. I don't need to know what moved through, just knowing that it did felt so good. And coming to the other side of it feeling so open and receptive and a lot more at peace and mentally so clear and present felt so good.
SPEAKER_00:You mentioned the music. Each of you chose some songs that I then crafted into a playlist. What was it like to breathe to music that inspired you? You didn't breathe to your own songs, any of you, but like you got to choose songs that inspire you or move you or energize you. What was that like?
SPEAKER_01:It felt really good. I also I loved that all the songs that the other women picked and we we played in that container also deeply resonated and almost like almost hit deeper than the ones that I chose. Because I knew that they were coming. I was like, oh, okay, I picked this one, I've heard it many, many times before. But something about listening to songs that I don't listen to regularly just really hit deeper as well.
SPEAKER_00:And I'm wondering what was the experience like online? Because I think a lot of people do these practices in person, in classes, but I don't know if a lot of people have done a thing like Revelation Breath Work online. What was that like for you? Did it translate versus in person and being with other people also online?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Um, I felt very comfortable with it. I I thought it was it felt really nice to be in the comfort of my own space um while also yeah, diving into the the process in a container with so many awesome people and supportive people. Yeah, I would love to experience it in person as well. But I really think that it made the proper impact, even remotely.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, and as you talk about the music, this is the vision for what we are all co-creating in this Medicine Women of Soul experience with the four of you powerhouses coming together, bringing this, bringing your music and the breath to your communities and your audience in a way that maybe they haven't experienced, so they might hear or feel the music differently. So I think that's a really cool, unique experience for a lot of your fans and your community and everyone else.
SPEAKER_01:Absolutely. I'm really excited to offer this space for my community members and people who have been receiving my music, listening and journeying with it, but maybe have never dropped into such an expansive opportunity like this one.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, or someone like me who's a big fan, but I don't live where you're touring necessarily, so it's a lot. Harder to be with you because you'll be there live.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, totally. And I also love the fact that we'll be able to do some Q ⁇ A's at the end as well. That I love so much. It's just the conversation I'm able to have with people and yeah, to connect face to face. Um so I'm excited to have those in just intimate opportunities to drop in.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, it's gonna be amazing. I I highly encourage anyone who who listens to Sophia's music or any of the other women, Medicine Women of Souls music, to come. It will be a unique, incredible experience. And it's Sunday, November 2nd, 3 to 4.30 p.m. Eastern. There's a couple different ticket options and the QA. If you want to be with the women after the show and connect and ask questions, and that's part of the VIP ticket. So uh each woman has a code. So if you are a Sophia fan, use the code SOFIA. You'll save$10 on your ticket, invite your family and your friends, and anyone who's down with cool experiences. Oh, where can we find you? And what are you up to now?
SPEAKER_01:Sure. Um you can find me on all streaming platforms, as most of you watching this probably know. You're probably already on it, but I'm on all streaming platforms. Please connect with me on social media. I'm most active on Instagram right now, but I'm also on TikTok and YouTube. And then I would highly encourage anyone who's been on this journey with me for a while, um, please sign up to the newsletter. That's gonna be the best way for you to get really live and proper updates with song releases and merch and a bunch of other things. And right now I'm actually really enjoying a chapter of slowness. I'm back home after my very first tour, month long on the road, back to back to back to back. And so I'm I'm home now. I'm grounded, and I'm recovering from an injury. So my body's just really asking me to slow down and enjoy the peace of this chapter of life. But in the midst of that, I'm working on some stuff behind the scenes and still creating and cooking. So stay tuned.
SPEAKER_00:And what's the best way to sign up for your newsletter?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so if you go on my website, SophiaRain.net, there should be an option in there if you scroll around on the homepage to yeah, sign up for the newsletter and get updates.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, beautiful.
SPEAKER_01:It's also in the link in my bio on Instagram.
SPEAKER_00:Awesome. Well, I can't wait to join again with you November 2nd. Going to be amazing. Thank you so much for making the time, for honoring your creative process, your truth, sharing yourself, your music with the world and with us. So thank you so much, Sophia.
SPEAKER_01:Thank you, Jason, for having me, for diving deep into the song with me. I'm very grateful to have chatted with you today and very much looking forward to November 2nd.
