When life feels unbearably heavy, peace can seem like a faraway place. We open Matthew 11:28 and hear a different story—one where the weary are invited to come as they are and receive rest that reaches the soul. No quick fixes. No spiritual posturing. Just a steady invitation to lay down what you’re carrying and be held.
We walk through the heart of this promise with clarity and care: what it means to bring real burdens to Jesus, why His rest is deeper than a day off, and how Scripture anchors anxious minds. Drawing on Philippians 4:6–7, Proverbs 3:5–6, and Psalm 46:10, we share a simple rhythm you can practice today—pause and pray, trust His timing, and rest in His presence. Each step is grounded, honest, and accessible, designed for moments when worry spirals and life won’t slow down.
To make this tangible, we revisit stories of faith under pressure: Hannah pouring out her heart and rising with peace, Elijah receiving rest and renewed strength in the wilderness, and Jesus stepping back to pray for renewal. These portraits show that soul-deep calm does not wait for perfect circumstances. It grows when we name our need, meet God in stillness, and walk forward with a lighter yoke.
If you’re wrestling with stress about family, finances, health, or an uncertain future, this conversation offers both comfort and a path to practice. Join us as we trade frantic control for faithful surrender and discover how God’s presence turns pressure into peace. If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with someone who needs rest today, and leave a quick review to help others find hope.

SPEAKER_00Relying on God in stressful times. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you a rest. Matthew eleven twenty-eight. Welcome to Day 72 of Faith for Every Day. Today we are focusing on the comforting invitation from Jesus to find rest by relying on God in stressful times. Life can often feel overwhelming, can it not? Responsibilities, uncertainties, and challenges weigh us down, making it hard to find peace. But Jesus speaks to us in Matthew 11, verse 28, saying, Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This verse is a great gentle reminder that we do not have to carry our burdens alone. God offers us rest, not just physical rest, but peace for our souls. Let's break down this beautiful promise from Jesus. It is a personal invitation to approach Him with all our struggles. We do not need to have anything figured out or fixed before coming to Him. He meets us where we are with open arms. Second, acknowledgement of our burdens. Jesus recognizes that we are often heavy laden. He knows the weight of stress, worry, and fear that we carry. He understands our pain and invites us to hand it over to Him. And third, a promise of rest. The rest Jesus offers is not temporary. It is a deep soul satisfying peace that comes from trusting Him. Philippians chapter 4 verse 7 echoes this, saying, And the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus. But how do we rely on God during stressful times? Here are three practical steps. 1. Pause and pray. Take a moment to stop and bring your burdens to God in prayer. Philippians chapter 4 verse 6 encourages us to bring everything to Him in prayer and thanksgiving. 2. Trust His timing. Stress often comes from worrying and trying to control situations. Proverbs chapter 3 verse 5 to 6 remind us to trust in the Lord and lean not unto our own understanding. And three, rest in His presence. Spend time in worship, reading scripture, or simply being still before Him. Psalms 46 verse 10 says, Be still and know that I am God. When we turn to God, He provides not only the strength to face our challenges, but also the peace to endure them. Throughout the Bible we see examples of people relying on God in difficult times. Hannah cried out to God in her distress and found peace as she entrusted her heart to him. We see that in 1 Samuel 1 verse 10 to 18. Elijah was worried and afraid, but God provided rest and renewed his strength. We see that in 1 Kings chapter 19, verse 3 to 8. Jesus himself often withdrew to pray, finding renewal and strength in his Father's presence. What burdens are you carrying today? Stress about family, finances, health, or even the future? Jesus invites you to come to him and find rest. He promises to walk with you, lighten your load, and give you peace that the world cannot offer. Thank you very much for joining us today on day 72 of faith for every day. As you go through your day, remember this simple truth. You do not have to carry your burdens alone. Jesus is inviting you to come to him and find rest. Until next time, may his peace fill your heart and mind. Thank you very much for listening.
