Resisting temptation. Submit yourself therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James chapter four, verse seven. Welcome to day seventy-six of faith for every day. Today we will dive into an important and practical topic: resisting temptation. Temptation is something we all face. It comes in many forms. Sometimes it is subtle, like a small compromise, and other times it is bold, challenging us to stay far from God's will. But James chapter 4, verse 7 gives us a clear strategy. Submit yourselves therefore unto God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. This verse is both a call to action and a promise of victory. The first step to resisting temptation is submitting to God, placing yourself fully under his authority. The second step is active resistance, standing firm against the devil's schemes. And the promise when we resist in the strength of God, the enemy will flee. Let us break this down. First, submit to God. To submit means to surrender every part of your life to God. It is about aligning your heart, mind and action with His Word. Without submission, resistance is impossible because you are relying on your own strength. 2. Resist the devil. Resistance is not passive. It requires vigilance, prayer, and standing firm in faith. Ephesians chapter 6 verse 11 encourages us to put on the whole armor of God so that we can stand against the devil's schemes. And 3. The devil will flee. This is a powerful promise. The enemy cannot stand against God's power. When you resist him in the name of Jesus, he has no choice but to flee. The Bible gives us several examples of people who faced temptation. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by the devil himself, but he resisted by using God's word. We see that in Matthew chapter 4, verse 1 to 11. Joseph resisted Potiphar's wife by fleeing from temptation, choosing to honor God over momentary pleasure. Daniel and his friends resisted the temptation to compromise their faith, even under the threat of death, and God honored their obedience. We see that in Daniel chapter 3, verse 16 to 18, and in Daniel chapter 6, verse 10 to 23. So, how can we apply this to our lives? Here are some practical steps to resist temptation. 1. Stay close to God. Build a strong relationship with Him through prayer, worship, and studying His Word. Psalms 119 verse 11 says Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. two recognize the triggers. Be aware of the situations, people or thoughts that lead you into temptation. Avoid them whenever possible. three, pray for strength. Jesus taught us to pray, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. We see that in Matthew chapter six thirteen. Next, use Scripture as a weapon. Just as Jesus did, counter the enemy's lies with the truth of God's word. Have accountability. Share your struggles with a trusted friend, a mentor who can pray with you and hold you accountable. Flee from temptation. Sometimes the best way to resist is to run, physically or mentally. Do not linger where temptation is strong. Temptation may feel overwhelming at times, but remember, you are not alone. God has given you everything you need to overcome. 1 Corinthians 10 verse 13 says, He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear, but will always provide a way out. Thank you very much for joining me today on day 76 of faith for every day. As you face temptations, remember to submit to God, resist the enemy, and stand firm in his word. Victory is yours through Christ. Until next time, may the Lord bless and strengthen you. Thank you very much for listening.
