Temptation loves to whisper the same lie: “You’re the only one who struggles like this.” We push back with a stronger truth from 1 Corinthians 10:13: temptation is common to man, God is faithful, and He always provides a way to escape. If you’ve been battling a thought you can’t turn off, a habit you keep returning to, or a situation that keeps pulling you away from your values, this short devotional is built to meet you right there.

We talk through why shame and isolation make temptation louder, and why remembering you’re not alone is more than comfort, it’s strategy. Then we anchor everything in God’s character. Our confidence is not in willpower or perfect streaks, but in a faithful God who knows exactly what you’re facing and won’t abandon you in the moment of pressure. That promise reshapes how we approach spiritual warfare, self-control, and daily Christian living.

You’ll also get practical steps for overcoming temptation: recognize the pattern (tired, stressed, isolated), use God’s Word like Jesus does, and take the “way of escape” in concrete actions like walking away, turning off the screen, deleting the app, or saying no. We also encourage accountability with a trusted believer, and we end with hope for anyone who has fallen and feels stuck, because God’s grace is greater than your worst day and you can get up and keep pressing toward the One who is perfect.

If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs strength today, and leave a review so more people can find daily Christian devotionals that help them resist temptation. What’s one practical “way of escape” you’ve seen work in your life?

Overcoming Temptation Scripture Anchor

Overcoming temptation. First Corinthians chapter 10 verse 13. They had no temptation taken you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Hello and welcome to day 104 of Faith for Every Day. Today's devotional focuses on something every believer deals with, that is temptation. Whether it is a thought you are battling with, or a habit you are trying to break, or a situation that keeps pulling you away from your values, temptation is real. But the good news is this: temptation does not have to lead to defeat. In 1 Corinthians 10, verse 13, Paul writes, There had no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man, but God is faithful. And right there is our anchor, God's faithfulness. First, notice how Paul reminds us that temptation is not unique to you. Sometimes, when we struggle, we think no one else understands what I'm going through. But that is not true. Temptation is a shared human experience. You are not unique, you are not alone. But even more important than this is this truth. God is faithful. He knows exactly what you are facing, and he promises never to let temptation be more than you can bear. He also provides a way to escape, always. That is powerful. So, how do we overcome temptation in practical terms? Here are a few steps to help stay strong. First, recognize the pattern. Temptation often comes when we are tired, stressed, or isolated. Pay attention to the moment when you are most vulnerable and ask God to strengthen you in those places. Second, use God's word. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, he responded with Scripture, Fill your heart with God's word, so you are ready when the lies come. Also, take the way of escape. That might mean walking away from a conversation, turning off a screen, deleting an app, or saying no to an invitation. Whatever the escape looks like, take it. Also consider call on someone you trust. You do not have to fight temptation alone. Accountability and encouragement from fellow believers can make a big difference. Keep going even when you fall. Do not let the mistake become a pattern. God's grace is greater than your worst day. Get up, confess it, and walk forward in his strength. Temptation may be strong, but God is stronger. And the more we rely on him, the more we realize we are not powerless. You are not a slave to sin. You are a child of God, and he has given you the strength and the strategy to overcome. Today, whatever temptation you may face, remember this: God is with you, and He has already made a way out of it. Thank you very much for joining me on day 104 of faith for every day. We do not have to be perfect, we just have to keep pressing towards the one who is perfect. The Lord will provide a way to escape. Thank you very much for listening.
