The Elders’ Commitment — Showing Up Where It Matters Most
Bonus Session
Welcome to this short bonus episode.
This one’s simple, but significant. It’s about what we commit to as elders — not just in posture and prayer, but in practice.
Welcome to this short bonus episode.
This one’s simple, but significant. It’s about what we commit to as elders — not just in posture and prayer, but in practice.
Because as elders, we don’t just carry spiritual weight behind the scenes — we also show up visibly at key moments that shape the life of our church.
And your presence, your example, and your faithfulness speak volumes.
Not out of obligation — but alignment.
Not for status — but for stewardship.
As Elders we ask you to support what we call 'The Big 7' — Moments That Carry Weight
These are 7 even key events in the Glow Church UK calendar where we ask every elder to be present, prayerful, and contributing spiritual support in some way.
These aren’t just big events— they are strategic moments that shape vision, atmosphere, and spiritual direction.
Let me briefly walk you through each one:
1. Anointing Service
This sacred Sunday service consecrates the year ahead. Elders help set the spiritual tone through prayer, support, and visible unity.
2. Easter Weekend
The heartbeat of our faith. Your presence adds weight and welcome as we preach the Gospel with clarity and passion.
3. Parenting Conference
A generational discipleship moment. Elders invest by showing up, championing family leadership, and reinforcing the value of building strong households.
4. International Sunday
We pause to honour the nations represented in our church and declare a global vision. When elders attend and lead in this space, it strengthens the culture we’re building.
5. Christmas Eve Service
A warm, gospel-rich invitation for friends and family. Elders bring peace, prayer, and pastoral presence.
6. Glow Team Summer Party
This isn’t just a celebration — it’s a leadership investment. We honour the servant-hearted army that make church happen. Your presence matters.
7. The Gift Christmas Production
Our flagship outreach event. Whether serving, hosting, or attending — every elder’s involvement helps carry the weight of this high-impact gospel moment.
Beyond these events, eldership carries a rhythm — quiet but powerful. Here’s what we expect and model:
🔹 Sundays Matter
You don’t need to be seen everywhere — but you need to be present consistently. Sunday are a priority in your calendar. Elders lead by example in worship, Word, and community. When you’re in the room, you carry something — and people feel it.
🔹 Financial Faithfulness
Every elder tithes. They don't give God their leftovers, they give him their first and best. Every elder gives in special offerings. Not under pressure — but in joyful obedience. You can’t carry spiritual authority in a house you’re not invested in. Our giving reflects our alignment, our trust, and our leadership.
🔹 Spiritual Covering
Elders are watchmen — not just decision-makers. You pray. You discern. You listen for what others don’t hear. Whether it’s over a leader, a moment, or a shift — you cover it in prayer before you comment in meetings.
🔹 Relational Proximity
You stay connected to the Lead Pastors and the other elders. You’re not policing — you’re strengthening. You encourage, challenge, and hold the culture with consistency and grace.
🔹 Ongoing Formation
Elders keep growing. You steward your own walk with God — through Scripture, prayer, reflection, and community. You’re not stepping into comfort — you’re stepping into covenant.
A Final Word
Let me say it plainly:
Eldership at Glow is not about being important.
It’s about being faithful — visible when needed, invisible when appropriate, consistent always.
You don’t have to be perfect.
But you do need to be present.
In spirit, in practice, and in pace.
So thank you.
For carrying this weight.
For showing up where it matters.
For modelling a life others can follow.
You are not the engine.
You are the anchor.
And your quiet strength is shaping this house more than you know.
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for leading.
Thanks for being the kind of elder that builds strength into the house — year after year, moment by moment.
Let’s carry it well.
