Staff Episode 4: Carrying Culture Not Just Tasks
If you’ve listened to the first three episodes, you’ll have heard this message loud and clear: At Glow, staff don’t just have jobs — they have kingdom assignments. And we don’t just fill roles — we shape culture. This episode is all about how we do that. Because culture isn’t what’s written on a wall — it’s what’s felt in a hallway
Welcome to EPISODE 4: Carrying Culture — Not Just Tasks
If you’ve listened to the first three episodes, you’ll have heard this message loud and clear:
At Glow, staff don’t just have jobs — they have kingdom assignments.
And we don’t just fill roles — we shape culture.
This episode is all about how we do that. Because culture isn’t what’s written on a wall — it’s what’s felt in a hallway.
Culture Is Set By What You Carry.
You shape the culture of Glow every day.
Not by being loud.
Not by your title.
But by the tone you bring, the spirit you carry, and the way you treat people when no one’s watching.
Culture is carried in:
Your punctuality
Your emails
Your face in a meeting
Your conversations in the kitchen
How you honour leadership (especially when decisions are tough)
How you talk about the church when you’re off-duty
And all of that matters — deeply.
You Represent the House
Whether you’re on stage, in the car park, at a staff lunch, or out for coffee — you are representing Glow Church UK.
You don’t stop being a culture carrier just because you’re off the clock.
We’re not asking for perfection.
We’re not asking you to fake it.
But we are asking you to model maturity.
To be spiritually aware.
To honour what God is doing here, and protect it with your words, your choices, and your spirit.
One of the most sacred things we protect as staff is confidentiality.
You will have access to information — about people, decisions, finances, and processes — that is not for public consumption.
Our confidentiality agreement isn’t just legal.
It’s spiritual.
Breaking confidentiality — even accidentally, even “off-hand” — erodes trust and undermines leadership.
If you’re ever unsure, ask:
“Is this mine to share?”
“Would I want someone else saying this about me?”
If in doubt — keep it in and check it out.
Honour is a huge value at Glow.
That doesn’t mean blind agreement — it means we speak with loyalty, especially when decisions are difficult or not our own.
We speak directly, not sideways.
We ask questions before making assumptions.
We raise concerns privately, not passively.
Disagreement doesn’t break culture.
Dishonour does.
You can be honest and honouring.
That’s what we expect — and what we hope to model from the top down.
Let’s be real — church staff life isn’t always easy.
There will be hard days.
Moments when things feel rushed, stretched, misunderstood, or under-resourced.
Here’s the challenge:
In moments of pressure — you reveal your posture.
Will you:
Respond with faith or frustration?
Blame or build?
Withhold or bring it to the table?
We don’t expect robotic positivity.
But we do expect honest, spiritually healthy contribution.
Because you help set the emotional temperature of the team.
1 Timothy 4:12 says:
"Set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."
As a staff team, we go first.
We set the example.
Not because we’re better — but because we’re entrusted with more.
People follow our spirit, not just our systems.
So here’s your reflection today:
What kind of culture are you carrying?
In speech.
In tone.
In presence.
In the final episode of this series, we’ll talk about what it means to keep growing — not just in skill, but in spiritual maturity.
Because staff aren’t just employees. We’re disciples, first.
See you in Episode 5.
