Fourth Quarter Mindset
SPEAKER_00It's fourth quarter, honey. We gotta stick to the plan, not to the vibes, not to the mood. We gotta stick to the plan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I think that for me, just reminding myself of that, especially like this week in times of like feeling uninspired, has helped me carry or or continue to do the things that I said that I was gonna do through the season or through the moments of feeling uninspired.
Hosts Check-In & Slang Debunk
SPEAKER_01Welcome back to a brand new episode of Elevators Podcast. Hey guys, Crystal, what is going on, girl? How are you doing?
SPEAKER_00Hi guys, welcome back. I'm good. How are you?
SPEAKER_01Good girl. I literally had seen something on the internet and I wanted to make sure I brought it to the show at the top because I noticed we do this all the time on the show. And I had to make sure I was doing it correctly. Cause you know, even as a millennial, I'm still learning, like, you know, this is different, you know, TikTok slang and like the verbiage and the things that we we talk about. So there is a right or wrong way to clock something. Did you know that? Excuse me? Yeah. So I feel like sometimes I find myself like going like this. That's the wrong way. Like when you put like the index finger and the thumb together, that's the wrong way to clock something. No, it's middle finger. It is, but sometimes I would find myself going like this, and I was like, this doesn't feel right, but it's middle finger to thumb. That's how you clock it. This means you agree. So on the show, we'd like to, we like to use this for agree. So yeah, I want it, I wanted to bring that to us because I noticed we do that on the show, like when we all agree with something. I know we did it on last week's episode with Emmy. By the way, if you have not watched that episode, it is really, really good. So many gems. Shout out to Emmy Petit for coming on the show and blessing us. Definitely tune into that.
SPEAKER_00Um, but I mean, I think too. Everyone on social has been in our comments. Like, yo, I love this episode. This is these are gems.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that also would be a good time for us to do some reviews since we got so many good feedbacks on the show. You want to get into it? Mm-hmm. Let's do it. Okay, so one review that we got from the show, which we had so many, so shout outs
Listener Love & Reviews
SPEAKER_01to you guys. And again, we love hearing from you, whether it is tapping in on the comments on YouTube, giving us a five-star review on wherever you listen to your podcast, Apple, Spotify, wherever you listen, give us a review and a shout out. We will definitely mention you on the show. Or you can talk to us on SpeakPipe, leave a voicemail, leave a message. It could be anonymous. All you have to do is log on to elevatehers.com and leave us a message. Okay, so one of the reviews that we got from last week's episode was from Simone Jackson 9632. It said, This was amazing. Thanks for being so real and honest. I felt like this was a group call, big sis prep talk to upcoming creators. Love that.
SPEAKER_00I love that. Yes. And literally that we've got like variations of that same exact comments from so many people. Um, so thank you so much for listening, Simone, and commenting. We appreciate it.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we do. Okay, we have so much to talk about, girl. I feel like these last couple of weeks, we've been coming with so many different like news stories and all that. And also before we get into the news stories with our unfiltered
Unfiltered Pop Culture Catch-Up
SPEAKER_01chat, Crystal and I were thinking about what we were gonna talk about for this show. And I love how when you and I talk, like literally, I feel like the podcast is a reflection of like us on the phone. Like me and Crystal were talking this week, and she's like, girl, I don't know what I want to talk about. I'm just feeling uninspired right now. And I was like, news flash, we need to talk about that. Like, so many people are feeling uninspired in general at different different different seasons. So stay tuned. We are going to have a talk about feeling uninspired. So don't go anywhere. But before we get into that, let's have our unfiltered chat. What are we talking about, sis? What has been going
Cardi B Album Rollout & Reactions
SPEAKER_01on?
SPEAKER_00Girl, what has not been going on? I think the headline discussion right now is Cardi B really being the drama. She's the exact drama she thought she was. She's been going back and forth with JT, Nikki Monaj. Who else? I think that's it. Bia, Bia too. Yeah, Bia had a moment with her as well. Um, and it's just been crazy. It's been the talk of the town the entire week. So basically, for anybody who is catching up and who for some reason has not seen what's been going on, um Cardi B dropped her album. Um I think she was throwing shots at Via, maybe. I think I'm not sure. Um, Bia got in the studio, tried to respond to Cardi. Um, the public is saying it flopped. Then we had enters chat JT. Um, I actually don't even know how JT got involved with this, but I think they have always had beef. Um, and so JT and Cardi B were going back and forth on social media. Cardi B's like, yeah, you let you let um you know people break up your group. And oh wait, no, that was Santana. That was Sulcy Santana who said that, oh Chelsea. It was messy because everybody was jumping in from left and right. So Cardi B going back and forth, and then Nikki Minaj jumps in. Here she comes, left field, jumping in. I don't even think Cardi like shot any shots at Nicki Minaj on her album, but of course Nikki felt like she needed to say something, I guess, like get in the moment with everybody else. Her and Cardi were going back and forth on social media real bad. Like they started talking about each other's kids, it was getting real nasty. And then, you know, me going to the comments, I feel like the answers, and if you really want to understand like what the people were thinking, like popular demand is thinking, you gotta go to the comments. So many people in the comments were like, yeah, nah, Nicki Minaj lost me. Because it got nasty, it got down and dirty. But like it was also like Nikki, where'd you just come from? Like left field. Not only did Nicki Minaj, I mean just saucy Santana get into it, but apparently everybody on uh apparently uh everybody on um 105.1 breakfast club called Strays, Jess Hilarious, the new girl that's on there, I forget her name, um, that's like really good. What's her name? You know who I'm talking about. Lauren. Lauren, Lauren LaRosa,
Nicki Minaj, Beef, and Legacy
SPEAKER_00yeah. Lauren caught a straight, Charlamagne caught. You're right, you know, Nicki Minaj can't stay in Charlamagne. And that's why she got Donkey of the Day. Didn't she get Donkey of the Day on the breakfast table? Oh, yeah. So I guess that's why. No, she got Donkey of the Day, and then she was shooting shots.
SPEAKER_01But you know. Girl, so apparently, for those who don't know, and if you have been under a rock, the girls are beefing. They are fighting, they are shaking the table because Cardi, obviously, like Crystal mentioned, she came up with her album, Am I the Drama? Absolutely. Um, but I think Cardi had some diss record or some jabs that she threw a JT on the song Magnet. And then um, Pretty and Petty, I believe she was talking about Bia, but like you said, I don't know if Nikki was in it. Again, I listened to the album. I didn't really listen to it fully from top to bottom, but I have listened to it here and there. I have to say, I have to give my props to Cardi. I think that the rollout of this album has been incredible. Um, I think that the album sounds really good. Some songs I'm like, okay, you know, I don't know. But not but not to get too much into that. I do think that the rollout and the marketing and everything, even surrounding the beef, the drama, is just fueling the fire for the sales of this album. I think her marketing team and everybody, even her being in the courtroom and all of these things, like I feel like all of this together has helped the success of this album. But just to talk on the Nikki side of things, I just hate to see Nikki going out so bad. Like, I think Nikki is a very talented, if not one of the most talented female rappers out. I feel like she is really messing up her legacy with like beefing with Cardi. And I thought it was really funny when Cardi was like, girl, like I came out, like when you came out, I was in high school. Like you beefing with me. We not eat, like, you need to be beefing with people that came out at the same time. You came out. Like, why are like it almost, I feel like it should be like Nikki giving the torch to Cardi. And I feel like instead she's seeing the success. And I hope that that's not the reason for like all the beef in the drama, but I I hate that the kids got involved. It's just like, it's just messy.
SPEAKER_00Listen, when Charlemagne said that when Charlemagne said that Little Kim was in line, we should have listened to her. I was like, Mm-hmm. Because when Little Kim and Nicki Minaj was beefing, I'm team Lil'Kim. You cannot come in, especially coming from New York, you should not come in to the rap game trying to beef with somebody who crawled so you could walk.
unknownWeird.
SPEAKER_01Talk about it. Talk about it.
SPEAKER_00So when that happened, I'm like, mm-hmm that's weird. Um, and then when her and Cardi fell out, I said, okay, now you become a denominator. Like you're um, and I personally just feel like I'm team Cardi, I love Cardi. I am team Cardi. Like in just general, no matter who she's like, I'm just like I'm a fan of her work ethic and like how she perseveres.
SPEAKER_01Same, same thing.
SPEAKER_00But I will say I want her to stop going back and forth because I think that if we we let the if we let our emotions get the best of us, it could really get the best of us in like real life, like financially, where we are, in our status, so on and so forth. Like, I think Nicki Minaj knows how to press Cardi's buttons, and that's a little too much power, in my opinion. If somebody can press the buttons, they have too much power over you. And I think that Nikki Minaj can press Cardi's buttons here and there. Now, whether it's for Cardi to declare her name or whatever the case may be, like, I just still think that I wish Cardi wouldn't give her so much energy because you can tell that Nicki Minaj was trying to use that clout to promote her own album. She started dropping the release date of her album in the tweets. I'm like, yo, if this is not the epitome of corny, I don't know what it is. Like this is literally corn
Clout, Courts, and Boundaries
SPEAKER_00on the cop. Like, so corny. So uh, I was like, what is this?
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, it's it's giving like you're writing on someone else's coattail to like out your project.
SPEAKER_00When you're saying you're better than this person, like you just can't, it's so weird. But I say all that to say, I think Nicki Minaj knows how to put press buttons, and I think she's also the type of person that she claims to be like street and this, that, and the third, but like is very much a cop caller and like will try to sue Cardi B because that's the only way she's gonna really get like make some sort of impact on her. She already realized that by popular demand, there's nothing that Nikki could do to really, you know, alter where Cardi is and her success. The only other thing she can do is probably sue her and take her to court for something. And that's what she said in one of her tweets. I'm like, girl, like that's exactly what she wants from Cardi is for her to say something that she can take to court and try to sue her. Even if she doesn't win, it's still gonna drain Cardi's account with lawyers. You get what I'm saying? So I'm like, oh, don't leave don't give people energy except so much energy, yeah. Especially when you see that that's exactly what they want from you, go the other way. Do not give them what they want. And it's not a sign of weakness. But you know, Cardi is still a New York girl. So I feel her in terms of wanting to be like, hold on, who are you talking to?
SPEAKER_01But yeah, and to some extent, it keeps, it gives it a little like, gives a little spice. Like, you know, I I I do agree that I feel like sometimes you just cannot respond to everything and you shouldn't clap back. But also I feel like being at Cardi is coming out with this album, she also was using it one, I feel like for marketing, but two, like, I get her sometimes. Like, sometimes it's like people play with you too much. Like, you gotta sometimes respond. So I understand like her doing that. But I just think overall, all in all, like Nikki is just looking bad. Like, I hate this for her. I hate this being added and attached to her legacy. Like, I can't say that enough because I'm like, Nikki, you are so talented. Yes, you've done numbers, yes, you've done all the things. You have such a huge fan base. Like, yes, you've had sold-out shows, all of the above. But like, come on. Like, yes.
SPEAKER_00And the thing about Cardi is that when people go low, she go to hell. And that's what I did say that. The New York problem in general.
SPEAKER_01Because guess what? I'm gonna be like Gail, the street, listen, I'm gonna be like Gail, the streets are talking. Like, literally.
SPEAKER_00So it's like they start talking about health records, kids, and it's like, oh, this is the type of stuff that that you could actually take to courts with like just stop here. You know, like here. Yeah, let's let's stop right here at this door. But yeah, so that's the T. I think it's unfortunate on both sides, and I think that the general conversation here is like you need to identify when people are trying to get a reaction from you and pivot because it's chess, not checkers.
Pivot to Today’s Main Topic
SPEAKER_01All right, now let's get into today's show topic. We're talking about feeling uninspired, and I think this is perfect because we just talked about Cardi and Nikki. Some girls need some inspiration to get back in the studio, but we're not gonna say too much about that. We're not gonna do that. Girl, so I know earlier this week we were trying to talk about what it was we were gonna come on the show and give the people who were listening, and you came up with this topic. You yourself felt like you were not inspired. Let's get into that. Like, what has been going on? Like, why are you been feeling how like why why have you been feeling those feelings? Like, what's been going on?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I feel like a lot of times I think this show
Naming the Uninspired Season
SPEAKER_00is very much a reflection of like what's going on around us and stuff like that. And maybe it's because it's just so much beef this week, and I'm not I don't be inspired by beef. So I'm like, I'm not really inspired. Like, what are the girls talking about? Like, what should the girls talk about? And I just felt like just genuinely uninspired and like not knowing what to talk about, like how to motivate anybody right now, because me myself, I don't currently have motivation. Um, I don't currently have any inspiration to keep me going right now. And I think that that was very it was a great opportunity, or you just saw as like a great opportunity to have such an organic conversation because it is genuinely how I felt. And I'm sure a bunch of other people feel this way. So yeah, I'm just in a place where it's like, and maybe it's just me being busy the last two weeks, but I'm just like, ooh, I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do. I'm kind of just like on autopilot right now for the last two weeks, and because of that, I've been uninspired.
SPEAKER_01Girl, I too feel that way more often than I'd like to admit. And I think it just honestly depends on the day of the week. If it depends on the month, it depends on the hour. Like, inspiration is not something that I feel like all of us feel all at once and all the time. So that's like a natural feeling. Um, and I think also we gotta normalize not being on. Like, you don't always have to be on. Like, there's times where you just have to sit still and maybe you just need to exist and just be. I think that a lot of the times we always feel like, oh, we gotta be motivated, but like what happens when you're not motivated? What happens when you're not inspired? I think it's okay to normalize that you're just getting through the day. You're waking up, you're eating, you're doing the things that you need to do just to, you know, be an adult and a human, and that's fine. And you don't have to have an agenda or like a to-do list or anything that you have to strive for. I feel like we're we're already natural-born like achievers and strivers and always trying to reach the next level. But sometimes that gets tiring. And I feel like people don't talk about that enough.
SPEAKER_00But are we really? Because I don't think so. I disagree with that. I think that a lot of people aren't natural-born strivers and and high achievers. Some people are very content with what they have right in front of us, and that and that and that's not a bad thing. Sometimes I look at other people and I'm like, damn, like why I was talking about you and I, not other people,
Normalizing Not Being “On”
SPEAKER_00but yeah. Yeah, yeah. Oh, okay, okay. I was like, you and I. Yeah, it can go.
SPEAKER_01You and I, Aries, Aries, Aries. Yeah, Aries. Okay, now we're talking. Now we're talking. Now, now we're not. But no, I totally agree. I think there are people who don't have inspiration or aspiration, and that's not a negative thing. I think saying someone isn't inspiring or isn't inspired or having aspirations is not bad. Like, some people are happy in just what they have right in front of them.
SPEAKER_00It's just not separately from social media, but just like in life, there's always like a pressure to constantly upgrade, constantly level up, constantly do this, constantly do that, constantly chase, chase, chase. And I talk about this with my man all the time. And he always tells me, like, you always feel like you have to be on and chasing. And don't get me wrong, I think to me it's like an adrenaline chase of like completing goals that excite me. But I have friends who are content with what's right in front of them. And they're like, Yeah, I like my house. I'm like, cool, like, I don't want anything else. I'm like, yo, that's so crazy because I want more. Right. And and then the other half of me is like, when I have these ideas of like wanting more, they didn't I had to battle myself. Like, are these my genuine internal thoughts or is this because you know, what I've seen seen or what I've experienced in my life that I'm like, mm-hmm, I want that. Like, you know, I don't want to or whatever the case may be. Um, but yeah, sometimes like people are just content with what's right in front of them. And honestly, this is this is a human thing because people always think the grass is screener on the other side, but sometimes I'm like, damn, why it can, why that can't be me? Why can't I just be happy with what's right in front of me? You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, you know what else I think it is, which I'm like happy that you're saying that. And what it literally just made me think of when you mentioned like having friends that are just content, you know, with what they have. And by the way, that is not a negative thing. It's not it's it's not a negative thing at all. But what I thought about was some people don't want to know what the other side comes with, right? So I think wanting to have a bigger home or wanting to have more money or wanting to have the nice things or wanting to have more than what you currently have now, sometimes that comes with a lot that you're not necessarily ready to bargain with. Like you don't really know on the other side of having the increase of the things that you don't necessarily have right now, what comes with that? And some people don't want to deal with that, and that might be stressful for them. So they're like, instead of like wanting to get bigger home or bigger said thing, and then when I get to that level, there's other stressors and stresses that come with those things. I don't want to deal with that. I'm really happy and content with what I have, and I think that that is very much okay.
SPEAKER_00Yes, even yo, that's so funny. So my boyfriend says that because he lived in fucking mansions, so like he's like, yo, you think you want a bigger house right now, but there's a lot of maintenance that goes into that. He's like, in a year you could spend like a thousand dollars on light bulbs. And uh I laugh at that, but he's he's he's for real and he's done it and he's been there and he's had to manage that. He's like, you don't have the time and space now to manage the the 2,000 square feet we got. But we when we get to six and ten, you're gonna be in over your head. He's like, you don't know what you what you think you want. And I'm like, no, but I want that. And then I have my my other friend who has like millions of followers on social media, and I was having this conversation with her too about social media. She's like, honestly, you might be in a sweet spot already. She said, The bigger the numbers, not only the more problems, but the less brand partnership deals you get, they're way more far and in between because the price is so much higher. She she was like, honestly, that sweet spot is 100 to like 300k. Ask that, oh wow, like that's just so crazy.
SPEAKER_01The human mind
Contentment vs. Constant Upgrading
SPEAKER_01is constantly because you want to strive for more, but you don't realize that more doesn't always mean good.
SPEAKER_00Yes, we constantly strive to think that oh, the grass is greener on the other side or there's more to it, and there's there's this, there's that, and and and and child, I just be like, mm-mm, I don't know why, but like, you know, I'm uninspired to do that trait chase right now.
SPEAKER_01I love that we're having this conversation because I think a great thing to mention at the top of this topic is not feeling inspired, as we already have said, is totally okay. Going through the ebbs and flows of life and just dealing with what's in front of you and not thinking ahead of what's to come is okay. And I feel like just for me, I'm just like sometimes I just get anxiety like thinking about things that I don't have to currently deal with right now. Like I'm like almost putting the pressure on myself of like what's to come, whether it be having kids or, you know, like all these different things that at our age in our 30s that we think about that we want to have, having a home, like, you know, just dealing with just different financial things. Like, I'm like, oh my gosh, like I'm getting anxious, but I'm like, wait a minute. Right now, in this moment, I have a roof over my head, I have a car, I have food to eat, I have the basic necessities, thank God, to be able to live and survive today to go to tomorrow. So why do I have to make myself so anxious about certain things when it's like that time, there's a time and place for those things, right? We're not saying that you should be uninspired and stay and live in that space. But also if you don't have anything that you want to achieve outside of what you currently have, that's also okay. We're not saying that. Um, so I just I don't know. I just feel like sometimes we just gotta exist. And it's okay to just go through the day-to-day, and then you know what, next week, next month, maybe we'll get back on the bandwagon of like fueling the fire to the goals and the things that we have to do.
SPEAKER_00So but for me, the fact that you asked me like why have I felt uninspired? I'm like, I actually don't know. I should probably sit down and try to get to the root of it. Like, is it that I'm overstimulated? Is it that I need new input? Is it that I just need to change my environment? I don't know what it is, but maybe I just need to get comfortable with being uninspired and just like existing.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I have two questions for you. So, when do you feel like you were last inspired? And then the second question is when are you most inspired in the moments that you have been? Like, so for example, for me, I feel like the last time I might have felt inspired was honestly
The Hidden Cost of “More”
SPEAKER_01like maybe like leading into this week, like the beginning of this week, because I just had things that I was like, okay, I want to do this, like there's things that I, you know, have on my list that I want to get done. But on top of that, for the second part of the question, I feel like I'm most inspired when I'm not. When I'm in places and spaces that I don't exist in all the time, whether it's like traveling or experiencing something new or going to like a new coffee shop or like seeing people do things that I'm like, oh, like I would love to do that too. Like I feel like those types of things birth inspiration for me as well, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, that totally makes sense. Um, yeah, I was inspired last week too. We're gonna be like, yeah, I was inspired 24 hours ago and now I'm not. No, but it'd be like that. Like it really do be like that. Yeah. Because fortunately, inspiration and motivation is temporary. Um, however, I think that I'm always inspired when I'm like, sometimes when I when I'm able to sit down in my backyard and be like, wow, God is good. Like, just take those little moments, those moments inspire me again, and I'm like, I let's get it. Like, let's keep going. Um, just having and it'd be five seconds of that. Just like, wow. Especially in the morning, like when I wake up and I'm like outside, it's just that does it for me. Um, but you know, also just sitting down, getting organized with like my content and my businesses and the podcast. That, like those moments of like reorganizing myself to make sure I'm staying on track always inspires me. But again, inspiration is always temporary and motivation be temporary.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah. And you know what I wanted also say, because as you're saying, Eastine, I'm just thinking of like different things. So in life, I feel like we all listen to like, you know, the podcast, the self-help books. We're inspired by other people who may have like heights and reached different, you know, levels that we would also aspire to reach. But I also want us to be realistic here. We are gambling with those things. Like we are gambling with the idea of having goals and aspirations, which although they are amazing, but we are taking the gamble with feeling as though we're gonna get to those levels too sometimes. Like I feel like we are wired to think like, if you, you know, you work really hard, you do these things, yes, you will reach success, but sometimes you may not. Like, I think that that's a thing that people have to understand that by you being inspired and wanting to pursue certain things, you do take a gamble on yourself by what if I do all of this? Like, let's take content creating, for example, because we talked about, we talk about that a lot on the show as we are creators. Our goals may be to reach a certain amount of levels so that we can get certain types of brand deals. But like you could put out 50 videos a week and sometimes you may not get those followers. Sometimes you may not get those brand deals, but you have to generally just do it also because that's not the only main reason or main goal why you want to do it. Like, you just probably genuinely want to share your life and inspire people. And I think that should be the reason you do those things. But I just think that it's important to say, like, sometimes you don't get the things that you feel are coming to you by doing all these all this work. You're taking a gamble.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Or even like if you're showing up to work every single day, hoping to get that that new position or that that pay increase, right? Like, it's like you're showing up, you're showing up, and sometimes they're like, Yeah, well, you're just not in the budget, you know? And it just doesn't work out that way the way you want it to work out. But I think this goes hand in hand with what we talked about a couple weeks ago on the show, is that it's fourth quarter, honey. We gotta stick to the plan, not not to the vibes, not
Anxiety, Presence, and Enough
SPEAKER_00to the mood. We gotta stick to the plan. Yeah. And I think that for me, just reminding myself of that, especially like this week in times of like feeling uninspired, has helped me carry or or continue to do the things that I said that I was gonna do through the season or through the moments of feeling uninspired, like making sure that I am keeping myself disciplined enough to still get up and do the do the things that I said I was gonna do to reach the goals that I want to reach, or to your point, to maybe not, but at least to try. Because at least if you're trying, that's one thing, versus if you're not trying, then you're definitely not gonna get there. Um, so yeah, just just constantly having to remind myself that it's the discipline that's gonna get me there, not the momentarily motivation and inspiration that I feel.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree. Discipline is what's gonna take you there. It we're not always inspired and motivated to go to the gym. We're not always inspired and motivated. I mean, you might be motivated to go to work for the money, yes. But I think a lot of the times, discipline is what gets us to those next levels. It's not inspiration and it's not the motivation. Like just knowing that you have an obligation or you said you were gonna do this thing and you don't want to discipline yourself. Literally, this was it Monday, I think it was this week, Monday. I've been telling myself since the start of October, I'm like, I am going to work out at least five days a week at minimum or do something, whether it's walking or do something, right? And on Monday, everything started happening where I was like, I have no time. Like, I was not able to fit in my workout. And then I was like, wait a minute, I have a gym in my building, I have no excuse. It was literally 11:30 at night and I was in the gym. And I think I posted it on threads. I'm like, what do you do when, or I said something along the lines of like, you work, what you have to work out because at the end of the day, you told yourself you're gonna do something. So you got to hold yourself to it. Like, it's not about being inspired because I was very uninspired to work out that day. I was like, everything hit me at once where you could have just, I could have taken it up, taken it as a moment, like, okay, girl, maybe you're not supposed to work out. You know, sometimes we're we're like, maybe the universe, or maybe like we're being told. Oh, yeah, we'd be trying to, we'd be trying to blame the universe, like girl, get out of here. We're trying to blame the universe to not to get us out of doing the things we are obligated to do. No, you need to be disciplined. And I told myself, it doesn't matter. At 11 30, I'm going to the gym and I'm making sure I went, and that's that. So, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and the thing about inspiration is that it is dangerous. Inspiration specifically, is it is a very dangerous thing to. Constantly feel inspired by different things because then you end up getting pulled left and right. Like you have to be very careful with what you deem to be inspiration because you will end up spending a lot of time chasing what you see somebody else having, thinking that that's what you want and that's not what you genuinely want. Um, the thing about inspiration for me is that it's one thing to see something and then get inspired by that and be like, oh, I like the way she. We always talk we you know, we've talked about this, like, oh, I like the way she wore that outfit. Um, very simple example, right? I like how she wore that outfit, but this is how I would wear it. Something that's a little more like you know, organic to me. That's inspiration. Taking the outfit top to bottom, you can call it inspiration, but it's imitation. And understanding that difference, again, I'm using a colloquial example because it's just simple and everybody could digest it. But like, for example, if you see somebody like living a certain lifestyle or doing something, you know, in their career, you might, you may want to copy and paste it, right? But it has to be organic to you because eventually something else is gonna inspire you while you are on the mist of chasing, chasing that one thing that you think, you know, you want to do because you've seen somebody else do it. And then all of a sudden you inspired by somebody else. And then now you
Discipline Over Motivation
SPEAKER_00going down their path. And all this time you're going down everybody else's path but your own.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I am, I'm, I'm agreeing with you, sister girl. I am literally agreeing with you. And I I wanted to also mention this when it comes from pulling inspiration from people, places, and things. I'm spiritual. Uh, we're both like in, you know, we're both spiritual in that sense too. But it's like you have to also look at the root and the fruit of the things that you're inspired by. I think sometimes we're attracted to the surface level of things. And I think social media has wired us like way off as it relates to being in tune with reality. But I think when finding inspiration, sometimes I feel like we need to really, I don't know, like investigate why and making sure that it's like coming from a positive place and it's not surface level, if that makes sense. Like that we're really seeing if, okay, this person is really doing this thing, or it's not like it just looks like it online. Like, and it also is a positive thing, or also is something that I know I can, I can go to God about it, I can pray about it, or you know, I can do the things that I need to do to be inspired by it, and also know that it's coming from a good place and it's not something that's coming from a negative place. So I feel like for me in this season, as I'm sourcing inspiration and looking into inspiration, I'm also paying attention with how something is rooted and the fruits of that inspiration. And if it's like, okay, this aligns with me, I think alignment is something that we also, you know, mention a lot. Like I just want to make sure that when I'm seeking inspiration and the things that I want to do, that it's in alignment with me. And it doesn't feel like I'm just hopping on the bandwagon because somebody else does something. You know what I mean? And I also think it's okay that you do something else that somebody else is doing, but like you add your own twist to it. You add your own little sauce, you add your own little spice. Like it can't be copy paste, like Crystal mentioned, because when we'll have like 50 million of us walking around doing the same thing, and that's that's boring. Nobody wants that.
SPEAKER_00Right. Nobody wants that. One of my favorite content creators out of Chicago, her name is Scarlett. I absolutely love her. I love watching her growth. One thing she said on social media one time was that God cannot bless the person that you are pretending to be. Oof. And I felt it in my chest. Like she was talking to me. Not because I not because I'm on the internet pretending to be something, but like it was it's still one of those things that it's a great reminder to be like, oh, am I centered in myself or am I what's happening around me? And it was very real. I was like, oh hold on. Who are you talking to? Who are you talking to like that? But but you know, it goes to you know what you were saying, like we're we're spiritual girlies and like being in tune with yourself, whether you know, whomever that is you believe in, or if it's just like you are more spiritual in terms of like your nature and stuff, like you really want to, you know, check your checks and balances on what you're feeling and you know what's inspiring you or what you think is inspiring you. Um and and and and you know, just like find that discipline to help you keep going or to not, because to Amanda's point, it is okay if you are content where you are currently, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Sometimes we're inspired to do things to that same point that God may not want you to do. Sometimes we may be feeling inspiration to do something where it's like, I'm doing this thing, like I'm like, nothing's happening. Sometimes, like, you need to shift, you need to pivot, and then see like if you did that, what could come of it? You know what I mean? So I feel like sometimes you're not being blessed in the areas that you want to be blessed because you might not need to be pursuing that said thing. But I love that you said that she said that because yeah, I feel one, God definitely can't bless the person you pretend to be, but also let's keep it real. Being someone you're not in life online, just in general, is exhausting. Have you ever felt or found yourself in a space where you might have like got in a group of people? You know how like there's like cold switching, you might have gotten in a group of people, had a chat, and like you switched the way you would talk, or you switched the way you would dress, or you switched the way that you did certain things. And it just didn't feel like you. It felt very like, I don't know, like costume-y, like you were pretending to be something you're not. That is exhausting. I I would never in my life want to be in a situation where I feel like I have to pretend to be something I'm not in order to one, get to where I need to go. Um,
Inspiration vs. Imitation
SPEAKER_01so I love that you said that because I think at all times we gotta be like literally true to ourselves at every point. I just don't ever want to be in a space where I feel like I'm just not being myself. But as we're talking about feeling uninspired and not being motivated and that being completely okay, I think a shift could also be if you want to, you know, get back into the groove of being inspired. It might not even be at an extremely high level, but I think that some things that you can do when it you're not inspired or when it's not there is pay attention to the community that you're surrounding yourself with and the things that you're doing when you are feeling uninspired. Sometimes just a shift in those things can help, you know, rebuild or refuel that spark. When you're uninspired and you're hanging out with people who are not inspired, who don't necessarily have anything that they want to do or pursue, sometimes you can fall into that. So that's why you know, as we were growing up, how our family was like, or, you know, they might have said things like, oh, you know, birds of a feather flock together. Like it, those type of things make so much sense now as you're older, because it's like, yeah, sometimes if you're around certain people or you're around certain groups or you're around certain energy or around certain things, you can gravitate and also get that same feeling just from being, you know, just within proximity of something. So I think if you're trying to find that spark, pay attention to the community that you're around. And then even further, as it relates to accountability, be around people who are go-getters, who are trying to get to the next level, but also have those people be accountable. Like have those people help you be accountable. Like, hey, I'm trying to do this. Make sure, like, when we talk, instead of us talking about X, Y, and Z, like, let's talk about the things I told you I want to do and vice versa, how I can help you and how you can help me, and so on and so forth. But that I wanted to definitely talk about that because there are some people who are feeling uninspired, but they want to get out of that rut if it's considered that for you.
SPEAKER_00You know what's so funny? I actually think the opposite. I feel like sometimes I need to sit down and talk to people about nothing, like a bunch of nothing that doesn't actually matter because I am constantly on talking about my next goals and what's happening in the world politically. Like so sometimes having a conversation about you know, the latest drama or like the latest sit sitcom or the latest you know, romantic series that I'm watching, like the summer I turned pretty, having those silly conversations that don't really matter sometimes give my brain a break. And I love it because then it's easier for me, like giving my brain a break for a second will give me space and and sort of like clarity to find inspiration easier, or more so to let the inspiration just come to me because you know, I turn off my brain for a second, and then all of a sudden, oh I feel inspired again, but not necessarily because I'm looking for it, but because I gave my brain a break and I took a second to like, you know, do absolutely nothing to talk about absolutely nothing in good company still. And now I feel like a breath of fresh air. Let's get back to where we were. But that's just me.
SPEAKER_01I'm literally thinking about moments when I'm in like solitude, or even if you're in community, right? And you're in that solitude, like you said, and you're not necessarily talking and having those um high-level,
Root, Fruit, and Alignment
SPEAKER_01high-powered goal-seeking conversations. Shout out to the friends that you can literally sit on the phone with and be silent. I have so many friends. I could just be on FaceTime, I could be on the phone. You and I have done it before, where the phone is just an open line and you just breathing. Like it's not even that you have anything to say, you have nothing to do. I find myself having a lot more of those conversations these days. And also like sitting in the car with no music on, when you park before hopping out. Although make sure the ladies, when you do that, it's safe and it's not dark outside or you're in a good place. But I feel when the girls are like, when you sit in your car and you just take a moment before you go into your home, like I love that pause. Cause, like you said, that could be a way to get back into the inspiration, or just sometimes you just need to take a break. Like, you don't always have to be talking about what's next. Like you literally could just exist and be okay in that community as well.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, I feel like this was the most like bipolar, unstable conversation we've ever had on this. But it's such a reflection of human nature and like the real. One hour up the next hour, we're like, mm, forget it. Like, it's just a genuine reflection of how our emotions ebb and flow. Our point, which is our main point and our foundation. Stick to the plan, not to the mood. But yeah, this was the most complicated conversation we've ever.
SPEAKER_01Listen.
SPEAKER_00Probably like, where are y'all going with these? First, first y'all going to the left, then y'all going to the right, but like, it really be both. It really be both. And and depending on who you are and and and what works for you, it could go either way, honey.
SPEAKER_01Listen, we are human. This is like like Crystal mentioned, an authentic, real moment. Sometimes we sometimes we're inspired, sometimes we're like, girl, I'm just chilling. I'm just kicking it. I'm just really just trying to to breathe and just sit in this space. But I agree. I feel like we were up and down. But um I think something I do want to leave with for, you know, the flow of the show and what we were talking about as far as like being uninspired. Is this an elevation message? It's an elevation message. It absolutely is an elevation message. And one thing that I wanted to say is it doesn't how matter, it doesn't matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. So it doesn't matter how fast you run, how many levels you're trying to get to when it relates to like your goals, or just trying to just exist and be okay with it. As long as you just can keep in motion and you do not stop. I think that that's an amazing pace to be at. It's not a race. We always talk about it being a marathon on the show. And that marathon can be as long or as short as you want it to be. But I think that, you know, just keeping at it and keeping it doing whatever it is that you're doing that makes you happy is just what you gotta do. So that's my elevation message. I don't know if you have one, but that's my elevation.
SPEAKER_00I love it. No, and on that note, we will let you guys go. Take that information, do what you please with it, take it into the people. I hope you guys are inspired.
