Hello. So today we are talking about, uh, why your creativity is not just a fun side hobby, but that it should be taken really seriously as a sacred practice. So if you've ever felt resistance, uh, or a bunch of excuses to showing up for your creativity, or maybe you do show up, maybe you are actively, engaging in a creative practice, but you are craving something deeper.
This episode is for you. So I'd like to start with, you know, the statement, creativity is more than just making pretty things. Yeah. It's isn't just about painting a masterpiece or writing you know, the next great novel. [00:01:00] It's not about, you know, being really, uh, good at something, and getting all that praise that might come with it.
Uh, creativity is the language of the soul. It's how we process life, how we connect with ourselves.and ultimately how we can evolve spiritually when you create, you know,whether it's painting, you know, journaling, dancing, singing,Whatever it is that's lighting you up creatively, you're not just making something or you know, creating something,You're actually engaging with a part of yourself that is beyond logic, you know, beyond productivity and beyond the external expectations placed on you.
Creativity, you know, it comes from a place of inner wisdom and it's really, that inner wisdom speaking through you. So I believe that creativity is a gateway to transformation. have you. Ever notice that when you are deep in creative [00:02:00] flow, something shifts inside you, maybe an emotion surfaces that you didn't realize was there.
Maybe a problem you've been struggling with suddenly becomes clear like magic. Or maybe you feel a deep sense of peace, like you've tapped into something bigger than yourself that's really calming and soothing, you know, like a meditation in action. And. This is all because creativity is a mirror. You know, it's reflecting back to us what's happening beneath the surface.
Within us, every brushstroke, every word, every movement is an invitation to know ourselves more deeply. And when we embrace this, we can grow, we can heal, and we can transform. But let's be real. Resistance is real. Even as creative beings, there are days or weeks or months when, we struggle to show up.
I know I do. You know, maybe you don't feel inspired. Maybe you think you [00:03:00] don't have enough time. Maybe you start questioning the meaning of your art and whether it even matters. Here's the thing. Resistance doesn't mean that you should stop. It actually is an invitation, you know,An invitation to push past those self-imposed limits and remind yourself that creativity isn't a luxury. It's not a nice to have for some rainy magic day out there. It's a necessity. It's a direct line to your inner self, to your healing, and to your spirituality, and as a result, it should be valued, respected, and prioritized.
So how do we shift creativity from something we try to fit into our lives, to something sacred, something that nourishes our soul, uh, and something that we really love showing up for. So I just wanna share a few key ways with you that you can easily deepen your creative practice and truly [00:04:00] make it more of a spiritual experience. So the first thing is to give yourself permission to create freely. Many of us have these creative wounds from childhood or, you know, past experiences. maybe someone told you that your art wasn't good enough. Maybe you were taught that creativity wasn't very practical. maybe you internalize the idea that your creative work, needs to be perfect and you need to be some kind of master at it. So let's rewrite that story. Yeah. Creativity isn't about perfection. it isn't about creating something, perfect. perfection doesn't really exist in my book. It's all about expression. It's about. Play. It's about showing up for yourself with curiosity, removing judgment as much as possible. And when you stop worrying about how something looks or whether it makes sense, you create more space for creative flow.
I know it's easier said than done, but [00:05:00] when we have an intention to, you know, give ourselves permission to create freely, we do enter a different space. So the second thing is, to try and create a sacred space for your creativity. You know, just like we create rituals for meditation, self-care, our creativity deserves a sacred space too.
And it doesn't have to be complicated. it doesn't have to be, you know, grand. It can just be as Simple setup. You know, having a little cozy corner where you can easily, get things out and access, you know, the materials that you wanna use.you know, setting, the space, you know, putting nice scents on, you know, lighting, candles or. Putting on music, you know, that kind of thing, can really help you drop into a beautiful, creative, uh, space. And the key with this is really setting an intention. You know, when you approach your creative time with reverence, with kind of this, sensual kind of, uh, ritual, then your mind and your body and your [00:06:00] spirit know that this is a special moment of connection for youAnd it's really important time that you value. So third on the list is to remember to follow the flow and trust your intuition.
So we all know that creativity is intuitive. You know, it thrives when we let go of control and we trust what wants to come through us. And it's very tempting sometimes to lean into our skills and our, logical brain.
and to create something from that space. And whilst it's probably a balance of the two things, you know, When we are creating art over a long period of time, I just want you to remember that when we tap into, uh, creative flow and we do trust our intuition, I. magic really does happen in that space.
So we just want you to try, you know, next time you sit down to create instead of planning, and using that logical, skilled up side of our brain. Ask yourself, you know, what wants to come through me today? And then really just try and let some of that flow through. [00:07:00] So the fourth thing is to use your creativity for reflection and healing.
One of the most powerful things about creativity is that it helps us to process emotions and to really sit with, you know, our thoughts and our feelings and to, yeah, just give them space, and let them go. if that feels good too. We don't always have the words to describe, how we're feeling in any given moment.
But, you know, expressing it through our creativity, can be a really powerful thing. And I do actually believe, especially with art making, which is, you know, obviously my chosen tool,The messages within the art, they continue to speak to you long after you finished the painting. And so it is really important, I think, to sit with your paintings and to, really spend time with them.
and to ponder, you know, what, the process of creating that piece was like. But also, what messages, We're coming through, when you entered that space of creative flow, what's coming [00:08:00] through and, you know, how is this mirroring, elements of your life, your relationships, you know, any challenges or struggles, any breakthroughs, you know, How is your creativity mirroring, different aspects of your life?
Your creative practice can be a safe space. You know, it can be a space where all parts of you are welcome, and it's really important to remember that,Number five on the list is commit to showing up for yourself. You know, just like any spiritual practice, creativity thrives on devotion.
It's not about, you know, waiting for inspiration, it's about making space for inspiration to find you and you know, so making a non-negotiable commitment, setting aside time for your creativity.I. Even when you feel resistance, even when you don't feel like it necessarily, find ways to still show up for it.
Because, you know, the transformations can really happen. when you find ways to [00:09:00] embrace the struggle So I just wanna finish with saying your creativity isn't separate from your spiritual journey.
It is your spiritual journey. It's your soul speaking to you. It's your way of connecting with the unseen, the divine, and the deepest parts of yourself. When you commit to creativity as a sacred practice, you are committing to yourself. You are committing to connecting with yourself, to healing yourself and to your expansion, to your personal and spiritual evolution.
