In this deeply personal episode of Soul-Led Creative Women, I open up about my quiet season of creative soul-searching and the beautiful realisation that emerged from it: that women’s empowerment has always been the heartbeat behind both my artwork and my coaching.
After an unplanned but deeply needed pause from publicly sharing my paintings, I’m returning with renewed clarity, intention, and a deeper devotion to creating soulful art that nurtures, uplifts, and empowers. I share why this new chapter feels like a homecoming — and how every piece I create is now infused with an even stronger purpose: to serve as a mirror and an anchor for the journey back to your own strength, beauty, and truth.
In this episode, you’ll hear about:
- Why I took a quiet, unscheduled pause from sharing my artwork publicly
- How soul-led reflection revealed a deeper link between my art and coaching work
- The powerful role women’s empowerment has played in shaping my journey
- How personal challenges led me to lean into creativity and authentic expression
- The new, heartfelt intention behind every painting I create

YT Ep 54: Soul-led Creative Women
[00:00:00]
So this week's episode is a little bit of a personal one. It's all about, my return to sharing my paintings with the world after taking a little bit of a pause. So, yes, it's been a little quieter in the art studio, uh, lately, and honestly, it's been exactly what my soul's needed. Over the past few months, well actually probably more like 12 months at least, maybe 18. I found myself, you know, in this deep period of creative soul searching and reflection I have been making in the background, but I haven't really been sharing, much about my creative practice or about my paintings with the world.
And.the reason why I took that pause is really because I was, heavily focused on figuring out, where I wanted to go, and how I wanted to grow the other side of my work in spiritual and creative empowerment coaching. I've always known that the two things have some kind of [00:01:00] link. but I think it's more than creativity.
I used to always focus around the fact that creativity has been a huge healer for me and that was the message I wanted to share. But I think that, there are stronger messages that are coming out of my art and my coaching that make them feel, deeply aligned with each other.
I didn't plan for this pause. I didn't schedule it into the calendar. it was something far more organic. it was really the universe, calling to me to, slow down a bit, to listen a bit more deeply and realign to the heart, you know, and the real core of why I create in the first place. And somewhere within this period, you know, a really beautiful realization found me. And, you know, it's not just creativity that connects my art and my coaching work, it's, women's empowerment that's really at the heart of both of those two things. And it really always has been. I just couldn't see it.
If you've been following my journey for a while, you probably won't [00:02:00] be surprised because my signature work, the stuff that you always know is mine when it pops up in your feed. And arguable my most loved pieces, uh, the pieces that have sold the best and all of that, has always revolved around uplifting, empowered, bold feminine figures, figures full of grace, strength, wisdom, and.
Softness, you know, feminine energy, and it's the kind of art that doesn't, you know, just decorate a wall, but it speaks quietly and powerfully to the soul. And if you know me or you've been following me for a while, you might be thinking, duh, Sam, you know what took you so long to figure that that out? And you'd be right. You know, sometimes it takes a little bit of wandering around in the dark to find your way back to what has been with you all along. So. I am gonna talk a little bit about, you know, why women's empowerment and about my art.
But you can check out my art on my beautifully refreshed [00:03:00] website@samhortonstudio.com. So if you are interested in,having something visual to look at while I'm talking, then you can check out my website there. You'll also find an invitation on my website to enter my monthly giveaway for a chance to win a $25 studio shop gift card.
So that should pop up for you as well. So why Women's empowerment? I. You know, women's empowerment has become such a big thing for me. It's not just a concept, it's been my lived experience. You know, it's a sacred thread that runs through every part of my life and my work. And it's really about the quiet power we carry within us, uh, the resilience that we embody, the intuition that guides us, and the beauty of blooming in our own time in our own way.
And my journey has been shaped by, you know, some deep personal challenges. There's certainly been seasons of heartbreak, reinvention, [00:04:00] and rebuilding from the inside out. And it was through these hard, humbling moments that I found the courage to lean into my creativity, to trust my personal truth, and to begin expressing myself with more and more authenticity.
Choosing to honor my creative voice wasn't just a hobby or a side passion.it was during those difficult times and continues to be a transformational lifeline. It's what has helped to heal me.it's what's taught me how to reclaim my power. it's what continues to shape a life that feels aligned, really meaningful, and whole.
When I create, I'm not just painting a feminine figure. I'm painting a feeling a remembering a mirror. I want each piece to serve as a loving reminder of who you truly are underneath the layers of expectation, busyness, and self-doubt. With every brush stroke, my [00:05:00] intention for each painting is simple, yet powerful.
It's to create soulful art that feels like a blessing, to offer you a visual anchor for your own journey of self-discovery, self-trust and self-love to create spaces, even the smallest corners of your home, that quietly remind you of your own strength, beauty, and worth. Each painting is infused with a prayer and intention and a deep wish.
You know, I hope that the piece can empower you to stand a little taller, to speak a little bit more bravely and to dream a little bit bigger. I want my paintings to remind you that you are whole, you are worthy, and you are deeply powerful exactly as you are. If you do happen to welcome one of my paintings into your life, my hope is that it becomes more than something you look at.
I hope it becomes something you feel a daily invitation back to yourself. A source of quiet [00:06:00] courage when you need it most. A symbol of the sacred journey you're on, becoming more fully unapologetically yourself. I hope it brings a softness to your heart and a fierceness to your spirit. I hope it helps you remember that even when life feels heavy, beauty and strength are still yours to claim.
Truthfully. Painting these pieces gives me as much as I could ever hope to give through them. It's how I have my own conversations with the divine. It's how I move through my own fears, my own expansions, my own quiet becoming. It's where I meet myself over and over again with more kindness, more curiosity, and more trust.
Each painting is part of my own healing, my own empowerment, my own remembering. Sharing them with you feels like completing the circle, A sacred offering from my soul to yours. And just a reminder, you can check out, my refreshed [00:07:00] website and my beautiful new paintings@samhortonstudio.com.
