Sometimes we forget that creativity has seasons.
We celebrate the visible blooms — the finished artwork, the inspired ideas, the moments of confidence, expression, and growth. Yet behind every bloom is a quieter journey that often goes unseen. A season of planting, nurturing, waiting, and trusting what is developing beneath the surface.
In this poetry minisode, Sam Horton shares Blooms of Summer, a reflective poem exploring the cyclical nature of creativity, personal growth, and self-discovery. Through the metaphor of summer blooms, the poem reminds us that the seasons of rest, reflection, and gentle tending are not interruptions to the creative process — they are an essential part of it.
Whether you're currently creating, questioning, resting, or waiting for clarity, this poem is an invitation to trust the season you're in and honour the unseen growth that may be quietly unfolding beneath the surface.
In this minisode:
• The hidden seasons that support creative growth
• Why creativity requires patience, trust, and nurturing
• The connection between creative seasons and personal evolution
• The importance of reflection and rest within the creative process
• Honouring the cycles of inspiration, expression, and renewal
Reflection Question:
What part of yourself is currently growing beneath the surface, even if nobody else can see it yet?

Ep 120 - Blooms of Summer
[00:00:00] In this poetry mini-sode, I reflect on the natural rhythm of creativity and the temptation to focus only on the visible blooms. We often celebrate the moments of inspiration, expression, and achievement while overlooking the quieter seasons that make them possible. Yet every vibrant bloom begins as a hidden seed.
Before there is beauty to witness, there is patience, preparation, uncertainty, and the gentle work of nurturing something we cannot yet fully see. This poem is a reminder that creativity, growth, and personal evolution all move in cycles. The seasons of rest, reflection, and inward tending are not interruptions to the creative journey, they are an essential part of it.
Just as nature pauses between periods of growth, we too need space to integrate, replenish, and honor what has been before beginning again. Perhaps the blooms of summer are beautiful, not [00:01:00] despite these quieter seasons, but because of them.
As you're listening, I invite you to reflect where in your life are you longing for summer blooms while being invited into a season of patient tending?
Now for the poem. Enjoy
Blooms of summer. Sometimes my head says different, but my heart is wise enough to know. Whilst the blooms of summer are beautiful, their journey is not an easy road. For long before their glory, before their petals swell and rise, there is a quieter season that asks my art to hide. Seeds of inspiration must be planted first, many days of tender care, a patient inner stirring inviting strength laid bare.
Without these early gentle plights, the blooms don't last so long, [00:02:00] lackluster buds and fragile stems instead of precious gems. When all is done and summer's gone, it's time for restful pause. Time to sit with the beauty, the magic, the truth, before once again I call for the vibrant blooms of summer, for the rebirthing of my soul
