A different shaped heart conversations about disability awareness
From Yeast Infection To YouTube: A Medical Sitcom
A new name, a new direction, and a candid plan for a life-changing surgery. We’re opening up about the January 12 hip replacement, how cerebral palsy shapes the rehab roadmap, and why we’re committing to document the good, the bad, and the awkward realities along the way. From navigating inpatient rules to working around shaky hospital Wi‑Fi, we walk through the practical choices that make recovery possible and storytelling honest.
We’re launching a dedicated YouTube channel, she13win, to share short, accessible updates on disability awareness and the day-to-day of post-op life. Expect reflections right after physical therapy, notes on pain management, and the small wins that signal progress: first safe transfer, better sleep positions, and the confidence to bear weight again. You’ll hear how we adapt standard hip protocols to a body that already compensates for CP, and what clinicians look for when aligning mobility goals with spasticity, balance, and fatigue.https://youtu.be/9sTBs-jkuQw?si=FFocrNSO7yAnKCPfhttps://youtu.be/9sTBs-jkuQw?si=FFocrNSO7yAnKCPf
Support systems matter, so we talk about picking a rehab facility with help from our church family, the comfort of familiar halls and staff, and how community lowers stress when everything else feels uncertain. We also get real about timing school around surgery, handling curveballs like a stubborn yeast infection, and protecting energy with short-form content we can sustain through pain and PT. To keep joy in the mix, we tease a light, positive conversation next week about a Disney cruise—because recovery isn’t just milestones and meds, it’s also stories that make the hard days easier.

Welcome to a different shaped haunt, you guys. Yes, formerly a winning haunt. Yes, I changed the name of the podcast and it will s be stuck with you guys for the rest of the time of the podcast, but we'll get to why in a minute. But first of all, I would like to say they scheduled my new um hip in January. January 12th will be the go date. So I will be producing content from rehab. Um I will be producing now. I can't necessarily show you um well maybe I can. Maybe I'll get special permission of me doing physical therapy so you can see uh hip replacement with cereal palsy, but I will be recording TikToks and I will be making shots on my new YouTube channel, which is she the number 13 win. And it's youtube.com slash G13Win. And that's gonna be my new YouTube channel for um disability awareness, not in conjunction with this podcast, it's gonna be more disability awareness, and I'm going to have you guys walk through this journey of a hip replacement with me, but it's gonna be me more me um recording by myself because I don't think that I can record in the inpatient gym. I will see if I can one day, maybe my second to last, maybe my last day of play I can. And so, but you're going to at least heal the good, the bad, and the ugly of the hip replacement at age um 37. I it was interesting because I was talking to someone and I said, well, it's going to be full circle because by the time my birthday hits, I'll be able to put full weight on both my legs. And when the injury actually happened, the initial injury actually happened on my birthday. And so yeah, it has been a wild ride since, but but right now I'm also dealing with lovely yeast infection, which is always fun. It's fun being a woman, and the yeast infection has nothing to do with cerebals, it's just a woman's thing that I'm also dealing with a yeast infection, which is lovely, and so between that and the broken hip, and yeah, I'm trying to get into school, as I said, but that's a little bit longer than I thought, and it's taking that process, it's taking a little bit longer, but once I get into school, that will keep me busy as well, but I'm debating whether I should um start after my hip replacement because the Wi-Fi uh is not gonna be very good in the hospital. And it's actually bad rehab. Um I didn't I just found out because the when I was up there originally in 2024, I see this is a rehab, Pima on the health Pima rehab is a original rehab that I got sent to um for my back. So I had my back done in April of 2024. Well, this is a rehab that they sent me to. Um this was their choice doc. Actually, it was my choice, but this is where they sent me, they gave me a list of rehabs, and my church family was up there. And when I say my church family, these people are not related um to me by blood, they're just my chosen family, just like Danny Ellis, even though she's my best friend, she's more like the sister I never had. And so my chosen family was up there visiting me um when the list came in to pick for me to go to rehab because I said from the get-go I was going to rehab for the second round of my back, and I um I decided to go where my church family recommended because they had a lot of parishioners up there, they knew that space fairly, fairly well, and so I decided to um solid lead and I went up there for my knee, and so now I'm up to the elf of my hip, but they have stable Wi-Fi, so I'll be able to record up on there, so that should be good, but the go date is um January 12th, and I will be out for a good six weeks becoming um slash in rehab slash physical therapy. So you guys won't see me for you will see me on and off, you will see me in rehab, but you won't see me at the initial recovery um in the hospital. And yes, I'm in pain every single day. I'm up in pain as I record this. So yeah, that's been fun. And so this has put me through my paces. It's also giving me a new perspective on life. So with that, I'm gonna let Daniel leave us out, and we're going to catch you guys next week. Next week it's gonna be the Disney interview, because life is life in for Daniel right now, and yeah, life is lifing for me, and life is life in for everyone. So next week it's gonna be a light positive interview with Daniel Talking about her Disney cruise. Thank you for following us. You guys, bye you guys.
