Belong to Yourself at Work: Why Workplace Clarity Matters More Than Company Culture
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What if the key to thriving at work isn't finding the perfect company—but learning how to belong to yourself?
In this thought-provoking conversation, Dr. Ebony Stone sits down with Lynnae Brown, consultant, strategist, speaker, and founder of Belong to Yourself at Work, to explore what it truly means to build a healthy relationship with work.
Drawing from decades of experience in mental health recovery, leadership development, and workplace strategy, Lynnae shares why clarity—not compliments—is the foundation of great leadership. Together, they discuss why so many professionals tie their identity to their job titles, how organizations unintentionally create anxiety through uncertainty, and why the most successful employees learn to marry their talent instead of their title.
Whether you're leading a team, navigating workplace politics, considering your next career move, or simply trying to create healthier boundaries at work, this episode offers practical wisdom that will change the way you think about your career.

Corner Office Lessons
🖤 Lesson 1: Clarity Is More Powerful Than Compliments
The best leaders don't constantly reassure people—they provide clear expectations, clear boundaries, and clear definitions of success.
🖤 Lesson 2: Marry Your Talent, Not Your Title
Job titles change. Companies merge. Organizations restructure. Your talent is the one thing you always own.
🖤 Lesson 3: Work Should Support Your Life—Not Become Your Life
Healthy work begins with understanding where your responsibilities begin and where they end.
🖤 Lesson 4: Belonging Starts Within
No organization can permanently give you belonging. True belonging begins when you stop looking for validation from your workplace and begin trusting yourself.
🖤 Lesson 5: The Story You Tell Yourself Shapes Your Career
Your career is influenced not only by your résumé but by the narrative you believe about yourself, your abilities, and your future.
