Isaiah's Prophecy of Christ

A reading from the book of Isaiah , chapter 53 . Despise , and we esteemed him not . Surely , he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows , yet we did esteem him , stricken , smitten of God and afflicted . But he was wounded for our transgressions . He was bruised for our inequities . The chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed . All we , like sheep , have gone astray . We have turned everyone to his own way , and Jehovah hath laid on him the inequity of us all . He was oppressed , yet when he was afflicted he opened , not his mouth , as a lamb that is led to the slaughter and as sheep that before it shearers is dumb . So he opened not his mouth by oppression and judgment , he was taken away . But as for his generation , who among them considered that he was cut off from the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due ? And they made his grave with the wicked and with the rich man in his death , although he had done no violence , neither was any deceit in his mouth , yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him . He hath put him to grief . When thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin , he shall see his seed . He shall prolong his days and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand . He shall see the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied by the knowledge of himself . Shall my righteous servant justify many and he shall bear their inequities . Therefore , will I divide him a portion with the great and he shall divide the spoil with the strong , because he poured out his soul unto death and was numbered with the transgressors . Yet he bared the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors .

Hope for the Heavy-Hearted

Perhaps today you're carrying a heavy heart , feeling unloved and on the verge of giving up . Maybe you believe that your mistakes are too great to be forgiven , or that God hasn't heard your cries . It might even feel like Jesus is a distant memory , but I'm here to tell you that Jesus is very much alive . He willingly became the sacrifice for every single one of our sins , yours and mine , so that we could experience true freedom . And , brothers and sisters , he didn't stay in the grave . He rose and now intercedes for us , while sitting at the right hand of the Father . Jesus offers us the gift of salvation , not just a better life now , but eternal life in a place of perfect peace , without tears , suffering or pain . This gift is for you , you . It's available to all who believe that Jesus is the Son of God , who died for our sins . It requires turning away from those sins and seeking forgiveness and asking Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and take complete control

If you long for this freedom today and want to make Jesus your personal Savior , would you pray this prayer with me ? Heavenly Father , I've made a lot of mistakes in my life and done some really awful things , but I want it to end today . I want to be confident that when I leave this earth , I'm going to heaven . I want to have that blessed assurance that , whatever I face here on earth , you are with me and will work everything out for my good . I want to have a personal relationship with you . So I confess that I am a sinner and I want to be saved .
