Families don’t usually break in a single moment—they drift. Dave opens up about the slow compromises that pull a home off-center and shows how to turn the tide with simple, steady practices rooted in Scripture. Framed by Romans 12:2, we explore a clear choice every household faces: let culture set the patterns, or pursue transformation through a renewed mind. Along the way, we look at John’s warning about the spirit of antichrist already at work, and Paul’s reminder in Ephesians 6:12 that our struggle is spiritual, not just situational.

We get practical fast. You’ll learn to spot the early signs of drift—less prayer, less Scripture, thinner conversations, and weekends swallowed by travel sports or streaming. We unpack three engines that accelerate the slide: media that dulls conviction, busyness that crowds out presence, and silence that leaves kids to be discipled by the loudest voice online. None of this calls for panic or perfection. It calls for parents who lead with intention and love.

Together, we outline four practices any family can start now. Guard the gates by auditing what enters through screens, playlists, and conversations. Reclaim intentional time with phones-down dinners and honest questions that invite hearts to open. Make prayer normal—short, sincere, daily moments that keep everyone tethered to Jesus. And model the life you want your children to imitate through visible commitment to a Bible-teaching church, humble repentance, and consistent service. We wrap with a set of self-check questions to reset habits and a single challenge that reframes everything: Who sits at the center of your house?

If this encouraged you, share it with a friend who needs a steady word today. Subscribe, leave a rating and review, and tell us: what one practice will you start this week to guard your home?

I'm kind of jockeying a couple things around here, and uh um I appreciate everybody jumping in there on uh TikTok live. But okay, enough of that, guys. Let's jump into today's episode. Um we are talking today about protecting our home from culture drift. You hear what I'm saying? Now last week we talked about keeping the family focused on Jesus. And if you want to go back and check those episodes out, that would be awesome. But today we're gonna be talking about protecting our home from culture drift. So let me ask you something. Have you ever noticed that families don't usually fall apart in one dramatic moment, right? They drift. Not because one day you woke up and decided to abandon all your values, but because life got busy, man. Life gets so busy. Are you there right now? Is life just too busy? Are screens just too bright? Conversations getting shorter, right? Convictions get quieter, that's dangerous. Culture doesn't kick your door down, it seeps in, right? One show at a time, one compromise at a time. Come on, you know what I'm talking about. And before you know it, what used to shock you, what used to shock the family, now feels normal. Now, guys, listen, having said all that, we all know that the culture drift is real. We know that, right? If you're if you're a disciple of Christ and you're following Jesus, you know that that that culture is constantly knocking at our door. I see you guys jumping in on TikTok. Um, just again, bear with me. I'm kind of going back and forth here. Um, but we know that culture drift is real, right? And scripture gives us countless warnings about compromising with this world, right? It feels like we're constantly compromising, and that creates the the drift, not the Tokyo drift, the culture drift, right? And one of my go-to verses, and guys, this isn't a Bible study if you're jumping on. Now, of course, this is a Christ-centered podcast, but it's certainly not a Bible study. Listen, I'm 55 years old, I've been through this thing. I've been through it. I've been in I've had marital problems, I've had drug problems, I've had alcohol problems, I've had all the problems you can name. You can relate to that. And today we're talking about keeping that family focused on Christ and not getting caught up in the culture drift. But back to Romans, right? Romans 12 2 is very clear, right? It tells us not to conform to the pattern of this world. Do not be conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. See, there's two things that are going on here in this verse, Paul is telling us, right? Either you're being conformed to the patterns of this world, the culture drift, or you're being transformed by the renewing of your mind through God's word, right? Man, I'm going through the book of 1 Samuel right now in my studies, man, and and and I've gotten through uh cup uh I'm up to chapter 10 now, but man, you can you wanna you wanna see a culture drift, you want to see uh uh a whole nation drift into culture. Check out first Samuel, man, the first ten chapters. There's so much stuff going on there, right? And in chapter seven, Samuel finally says, if you return to the Lord with all your heart and rid yourself of the foreign gods, and commit yourselves to the Lord, he will surely deliver you out of the hands of the Philistines, right? And my question is, listen, you gotta do it with all your heart, right? If you're returning to the Lord with all your heart, rid yourself of the foreign gods, little gods. What what are the gods in your life? The little G O Ds. Only you know. I know mine. I see you guys on TikTok. I'm trying to keep an eye on that TikTok there. Hey Pam, how are you? I see you guys. Thank you for jumping in. This is the Bible Chat Podcast. You're you're listening to a live podcast recording. Um talking about a drift, the culture drift, keeping our families centered on Christ, not drifting back into the world, but but um it tells us here in in 1 Samuel, and and God will deliver you out of the hands of the Philistines. So what is your Philistines, right? What does the Lord need to deliver us from? Right? Have we as a family conformed to the patterns of this world? See, guys, culture drift is very real, it's very satanic, right? Keep that in mind. Those little compromises, that little drifting back into the patterns of this world is satanic. Right? And keep in mind that the spirit of antichrist is already here. The spirit of antichrist is already here. Right? The word of God is very clear about that, right? The first scripture that pops in my mind was first John chapter four, verse three. But every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. Well, if it's not from God, it's antichrist. Every spirit that does not acknowledge that Jesus is from God, this is the spirit of Antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and even now is already in the world. The spirit of Antichrist is already in the world, guys. Right? John's telling that, telling us this right here in 1 John chapter 4, verse 3. This is the spirit of Antichrist, which you heard is coming. We know that in the end times, in the seven-year tribulation, in the book of Revelation, we have a man of lawlessness. His name is the Antichrist. He's coming. He's coming. Different episode, different time, right? But Paul or John is telling us that the spirit of Antichrist is already in the world. And the culture now is not only antichrist. Listen to this, guys, we know this. The culture is not only antichrist, it's anti-family to the core, right? The enemy attacks the family. And I've said this over and over and over again, if you've been following the show the last year, right? When when the family is broken, Satan has won. When the family is broken, the enemy has won, right? There's nothing more destructive than a dysfunctional, separated home. Mom and dad are at each other's throats, maybe divorced, maybe separated. This is what the kids say. Satan attacks the family. Our culture is anti-family to the core, right? So we gotta protect our families. We gotta protect our homes from this culture drift. You know what I'm talking about. Somebody listening to this episode is getting what I'm throwing down. I know you are, right? Listen, culture drift is real. If you're a born-again Christian and you're you're a your family are disciples of the Lord, you know what I'm talking about. I see you guys jumping on TikTok. I'm watching. Hey Ron, what's up, buddy? Um, like I said, guys, bear with me. I got one man show here today. So we know the culture drift is real. It'll be hard work at times, but it is well worth it in the end, guys. So today we're talking about something very serious. Not with fear, not with panic, but with clarity, right? How do we protect our home from culture drift? How do we guard our heart, our marriage, our kids, our grandkids? How do we protect these things, man? When I read these things, I got notes here in front of me. I'm not just freestyling all this. But how do we guard our heart? Number one, listen, culture drift is after the marriage, man. Just look around, right? Look around. Culture drift is after our marriage. Culture drift is after our kids. Culture drift is after our grandkids. We've got to make sure that we're not allowing this. How do we stay grounded when everything around us is always shifting, man? Come on. Turn on the CNNs, turn on the Fox. I don't care what side of the aisle you're on, Republican, Democrat. I don't really get involved with all that. I try to vote for the lesser of two evils. They're both evil. If you're a CNNer, if you're a oh, I only watch Fox. I only listen, it's all evil. Trump, Biden, all of them. They're all evil. They're all in the same, they're all in the same group, guys. But that's again a different different episode, right? So be listen. How do we stay grounded when everything around us keeps shifting? Because if you don't shape your family spiritually, listen to this guys. I see you, Kevin. Because if you don't share your family, if you don't shape your family spiritually, something else will, right? You've heard that old saying. I'm not it's not a it's not biblical by any means, but it says if you don't love if you don't love your wife or if you don't love your spouse, someone else will, right? That's real. Because if we're not shaping our family spiritually, don't get this twisted, guys. If you're not shaping your family spiritually, something else will, right? Families rarely collapse overnight. They drift. Not from one big decision, from many small compromises. Repeat it daily. That word compromise, man. What are we compromising in our family? Think about it. I see you, Kelly. What are we compromising in our family? If you're jumping in now, this is a live recording of the Bible Chat Podcast. We're talking about keeping our families from drifting. The culture drift is what I'm calling it, right? Culture doesn't just kick our door down, it slowly sleeps seeps in. It slowly seeps in, right? And it takes us back to Romans 12, too, man. Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world. Who wants any part of what's going on out there, right? We are to go out there and let our light shine before men so they glorify the Father in heaven. I see all the TikTokers jumping in. I appreciate it, guys. If anyone could throw up a comment, I don't know if you guys can hear me real well and stuff. Like I said, this is uh this is only our second week going live on the uh podcast recording. And during the week, we're gonna do some interaction with you guys. Um, we're gonna do some live uh TikTok stuff. Um, trying to do it maybe like Tuesdays and Thursday nights where get some interaction going and things like that. But if you're jumping on, I appreciate it. We're just talking about a culture drift, keeping our families focused on Jesus, right? So you might ask yourself, man, what's this guy talking about? So so what is this nitwit talking about? What is a culture drift? What is he talking about? Well, this is kind of what a culture drift looks like, right? It's slowly adopting the values of this world. It's slowly adopting the beliefs of this world, the habits of this world without even realizing it. And I'm speaking to the Christian family. Not a big I don't like that word actually. I know we use it uh it's thrown around constantly, right? Well, I'm a Christian. Well, that doesn't mean a whole lot. I meant a lot of people say I'm a Christian and they ain't Christians, right? I like when you say I'm a disciple of Christ, because that's a big difference, man. A disciple of Christ is is hanging on to every one of his words, is is is is patterning his life after Jesus, right? So what is a culture drift, man? It's slowly adopting the values, the beliefs, the habits of this world and not even realizing it, right? Back to Romans 12, too, man. Come on. Don't conform to this, don't conform to the patterns of this world. Hey, Debbie, I see ya. Don't conform to the patterns of this world. Or in other words, right, does your family look like the world? That could listen, I I I like to dummy fy things for myself, right? So I could just look in the mirror, look at my spouse, look at my kids, look at my surroundings and say, Does my family look like the world? Right? Because it so easily can, right? And listen, here's a couple signs, guys. Here's a couple signs that um it you can be sure that you're drifting. You can be sure of it, right? Less prayer. How much prayer is going on in your family? Not you. You better be praying, but how much prayer is going into the family, not praying about the family, praying with the family, right? Less prayer, right? But more scrolling. How much time do we spend scrolling, man? Right? Less scripture. That's a sign. Less prayer is a sign, less scripture is a sign, right? Less conversation, right? Less conversation. Are we having good conversation with the family? Not about the ball game, not about the weather, not about the upcoming events, spiritual talk, man. Right? How much time are we spending at church? You gotta find a good Bible teaching church. I always suggest if you're looking for a church, I don't care where you live in the country, I don't care where you live in the world, you'll find a Calvary Chapel church. They teach the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, word for word, chapter by chapter, book by book. They don't avoid any topics. If you're looking for a good church, do a search for um Calvary Chapel in your area. You'll find one. But these are just some signs of your drifting. Less prayer, less scripture, less conversation, less time at church. And here's a big one, man. Man, listen, I see so many families with these sports. Listen, I'm not I I'm a big sports guy. I'm not I'm not putting down kids in sports. By no means. So don't get it twisted. It's not what I'm saying. But what I'm saying is when those kids, when those tournaments, you know what I'm talking about, the travel stuff. I did it with my daughter. She played travel softball for 11, 12 years, and it was the biggest part of our lives. It it almost destroyed our family in a sense. Listen, how much time are you spending in these sports stuff? Oh, Johnny's got a tournament Sunday. Johnny's got a tournament the lack in the next five Sundays. Well, what are you doing? You're gonna miss church, aren't you? Oh, well, that's no big deal. It actually is a big deal. Because what you're showing your kids is, well, church is a secondary thing. Listen, you gotta tell the coaches, listen, guys or gals, you know, Sundays we we have we have church. You know, maybe we'll be running to the tournament a little late. Maybe we'll be showing up to the game a little late, but a lot of parents won't do that. Listen, sports are great for the kids, but be careful with that. It's a big one. I see it. I see it all around me. It's a huge one. And we don't even realize it. We're gonna talk about a culture drift. Get involved with travel, anything. It it takes up a lot of your time, man. See, Satan is sneaky. Satan is so sneaky. The enemy is so sneak sneaky. He slowly allows the family to drift into his hands, right? He oh it it's not overnight. We talked about that a few minutes ago. I see you guys on TikTok. You're jumping into a live Bible chat podcast. I appreciate you guys. I see Tony. Hey Tony, what's up, Bob? So listen. Satan allows the family to slowly drift into his hands, right? That's what we're talking about. How we can keep the family from the culture drift is what I'm calling this episode. Hey, Val. Um, so here are three things, guys, that we can certainly um here are three things that will certainly create drifts at our home, man. Right? Media and screen time. Oh man. How much media, social media are we are we um in ingesting during the week? And most of it's all nonsense anyway, man. If you've been listening to the last couple episodes, I've been on this kick of the of the the the screen the streaming nonsense with the with the Netflix, Hulu, all the rest of them, man. What nonsense, man? You know, I I'll go on the Netflix from time to time. And you know, I'll say, let me try to find a a movie or maybe a series to watch. It's all garbage. Listen, how much time you're spending on TikTok on Netflix and Hulu and the rest of Man. Stay away from that nonsense. Listen, I don't mean don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you can't do these things, but how much time are they taking up, man? Listen to what Psalms 101.3 says. Chapter 101, verse 3. It says, I will set nothing wicked before my eyes. And when I scroll through that TikTok, or when I scroll through that Netflix and Hulu and all the rest of them, I don't see anything but wickedness. And Psalms 101.3 tells us, I will set nothing before my eyes that it is wicked, right? Stay away from that. Listen, social media is good. I use it from the podcast. But how much time are you spending on social media is my question. Number two is busyness. Oh man, this is a killer, guys. You want to you want to see your family drift in this culture? Get real busy. Man, Satan loves nothing more than a busy family. Oh, we're busy. What are you busy about? Right? What are the things that you're you're you're filling your time with? What's so busy about this thing, right? What's so why are you so busy? And it it re immediately, if you know your if you know your Bible, it immediately um brought to mind um the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10, right? Mary and Martha. Mary and Martha, the two sisters who opened their homes to Jesus when he used to travel with his disciples. They would always stop there for dinner and different things, rest, right? And as Martha hurries to ensure preparations, right? She's she's clean, Martha's cleaning. Martha's getting the house ready. Oh, Jesus is coming. Let's get everything ready. And and and rightfully so, right? But Mary, oh Mary, on the other hand, man, she sat at Jesus' feet and listened to his wisdom, man. Right? The two sisters. Mary's getting ready. She's busy. Oh, she's busy. Cookies gotta get baked. House's gotta get cleaned. I gotta drop Johnny off at football practice. All those things are good. Don't get me wrong now. Don't get it twisted. Those things are good. Cookies are good. But Mary, she recognized Jesus was at the house. And she sat at his feet. See, Mary and Martha were the two sisters, man. But in in on that particular day we're had two completely different focuses, right? While Mary soaked in the moments with Jesus, Martha couldn't put down the cooking and cleaning, busyness, right? Metaphor for busyness, right? And I love what Jesus said. Said Mary, Martha quickly becomes frustrated with all she is doing alone, right? And complains to Jesus. Martha started complaining. She said, Oh man, Lord, you don't care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself. I love what Jesus said. He says, Tell uh, or Martha says, tell her to help me. And Jesus replies, Martha, Martha, why are you worried and upset about many things? But only one thing is needed, right? Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her, guys. So we cannot stay busy. Busyness is good at the proper time, but time with Jesus is way more important. I see you guys jumping in on TikTok Live here and jumping into a live podcast here, Bible Chat Podcast. We're talking about a culture drift with the family, how real it is, right? And the third point I want to make about the culture drift is through silence. Man, silence is deadly. Right? Through silence, we can drift into this culture just through silence. If parents don't disciple their kids and the family, culture will. See, we're never we're never stagnant, guys. You're never sitting on the fence, you're never stagnant. You're either growing in Christ or you're relapsing. You're you're you're going backwards. Right, what do we call it in the in the Christian world? The backslide. Oh, he's backslidden. Listen to this, man. If the parents aren't discipling their children, the culture will. If mom and dad are not guiding the kids, the culture will. And if mom and dad don't make Jesus a priority, culture will provide something else, man. That is so true. Right? This battle is real. Right? Paul tells us in Ephesians chapter 6, verse 12, that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. And that verse is so clear that there's a spiritual aspect to all of this. When Paul says in Rome in Ephesians 6.12, when he says we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, he's basically saying that this battle ain't between mom and dad, this battle ain't between dad and the kids, or mom and the kids, or me and you, it's not a fleshly battle. It's spiritual, man. And that verse goes on to say that we we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against spiritual forces in the heavenly realms. This thing is no joke. You might be stumbling onto this recording of the podcast and say to yourself, this guy's out of his mind. That's cool. But that doesn't change scriptures. True. God's word is true. Ephesians 6.12. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against wickedness in heavenly realms. What chance do we got? Zero. This thing isn't political, right? It's spiritual, man. The enemy doesn't necessarily have to destroy us. He just needs to distract us, man. Right? And when we talked about that a little bit in the beginning of the podcast, man. Families don't fall apart overnight. It's a slow, slow process that sometimes we don't even recognize until we look back and go, what just happened? Right? Did we get too busy? We just talked about that. Right? If we don't teach our kids the scriptures and we don't teach our kids to prioritize Christ, something else will. Something else will. Right? Again, he doesn't want to destroy us necessarily. He does, but he doesn't necessarily want to destroy us. He just wants to distract us, man. This culture, back to Romans 12, 2, do not conform to the patterns of this world. There's a warning there, guys. Why? Why can't I look like the world? Why can't I indulge in the things the world does? Because it's all destruction, right? Jesus said it so clearly about the two roads that lead. The road that's broad, the road that's huge, the road that's big, many people will find it. The road headed to destruction is huge. And Jesus said many, many people will find it, but the road to Jesus is narrow, and few will find it. And drifting down that culture, finding ourselves entrenched and saturated in the culture of this world, you're on the broad road. Get off that road. Get on the narrow road. Get on that road that that leads to Christ. Get your family on that road that leads to Jesus. Come on, guys. Look around. Look at society. Look what's going on. Right? We're in the beginning of birth pains here for Jesus' return. I don't want to get involved with all that. I just did an episode a couple, three or four episodes ago about some of that stuff. We're leading up to his return. We are in the birth pains, right? Like, listen, we're going to start wrapping this thing up. I appreciate everybody that's jumping on in TikTok. I really do appreciate that. You're jumping into a live recording of the Bible Chat podcast. And um coming this week coming up, keep an eye. I'm going to go ahead and do some TikTok live stuff where I can actually interact with you guys. Right now, I'm just recording my podcast, and this is the second week that we've done a uh live recording on on uh TikTok. So I just kind of want to keep this podcast format. But during the week, guys, if you want to interact with me, have a conversation with me, listen, keep uh follow the show on the social media platforms. I I'm thinking maybe like Thursday or Friday nights, I might go live for a little while and we'll just talk about a topic. I'll let you into the room or however that works, and we can have a good conversation and some fellowship. But this is uh you're you're you're coming in now on the live recording. It's hard to uh to uh interact with you guys, but I do see over there on the on the bottom of my screen I got a couple things going on here. But we're just talking about culture drift. We're kind of ending things, we're kind of winding this episode down, right? I'm just going to give you four quick suggestions on how to guard from that culture drift, right? And the first one I had jotted down was guard the gates, right? Your house is like a fortress, your home is a sanctuary, a fortress. I'm talking to believers now. Guard the gates, right? Audit what enters your home, right? Mom and dad, I'm talking to dad. Listen, if you're a single mom, then you you need to listen up. If you're if if you're a father with a and you know you it's you and your wife and the kids, you need to listen up. Whoever's that leading this, your household, listen up as we wind these, as we as we wind this episode up. Audit what enters your home, man. What shows are you watching? We talked about that already. What are you watching? What music are you listening to? Come on, man. What conversations are you having? How much time do you spend on the kids' sports rather than church and serving at church? Don't let the kids' sports override spiritual things, man. Guard the gates of your house. What shows you watching, what music you listen to, what conversations are you having? Guard the gates to your house. Number two, reclaim in intentional time, guys. Reclaim intentional time, right? Have dinner together. This one I I I sh this one's tough at my home. I got quite a few people here in this home front. And we tend to, you know, you get the meal and we go into the living room and we'll throw on the game show network or something like that. Turn on something that's, you know, uh as we stuff our faces and watch uh game shows from 1970. Listen, I gotta do a better job with this. Turn off the TV, turn put the phones down, gather around the table, and let's have a meal together. Right? Faith conversations is another big one, guys. And this is part of the intentional time. Faith conversations. Listen, it's great to talk about the weather. We just had a bunch of snow here. I'm out here in New Jersey on the East Coast, South Jersey. We just got hit with a bunch of snow. Weather, sports, what are we what are we talking about at the house? I'm not saying every single conversation has to be spiritual. Don't get me wrong. That would be that would be probably not good. But but but the majority of our conversations, man, you know, look at your spouse and ask her, what can I pray for you about? What's going on in your life? Ask your kids the tough questions, man. Have some conversation with them. Because remember, like I said just a minute ago, if we're not discipling our kids, the culture will. You don't have to worry about that. If you think this is way too much to do, or you just ain't got the time, listen, no worry, don't worry then. Let let society raise your kids. Oh yeah, that's a good idea. Let society raise your kids. If we ain't having conversation with our kids and our spouses and our families, society will. Consistency, guys, day in and day out. You know, day in and day out. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, etc. Listen, keep this thing can consistently. Eat together consistently. Have conversation, spiritual conversation consistently. Pray and study together as a family consistency. Day in, day out, right? Day in, day out. And model mom and dad, listen up. Mom and dads, listen up. Model yourself after Christ. Because your kids will model the kids are going to model them themselves after you. Like father, like son, right? Well, in some cases, that might be not good. Listen, mom and dad, pattern yourself after Jesus. Let the kids see who Jesus is. Let the kids see who Christ is. Let the kids see the love of the Lord. Let the kids see mom and dad praying. Man, that's big. Let the kids walk in on mom and dad praying. Let the kids know that mom and dad put their foot down when it comes to serving and attending church. Church ain't. Listen, I'm not saying that you get it like a cult type stuff going on here, but listen, your local church should be a huge part of your family. If you're looking for a good church, I don't care where you are, if you're in mid east coast, west coast, north, south, doesn't matter where you are, find a Calvary chapel if you're looking for a church. They do they they they study through the scriptures the right way. Make sure your kids are seeing you do this because they're gonna listen, kids don't need a lecture. You hear me? I I I'm guilty of this. Kids don't need lectures. They need to see a lifestyle in front of them. Come on. Right? You can lecture your son or daughter all you want. But what speaks louder is your lifestyle. Oh, you better not this and you better not do that, and this and that, and this and that, and this and that. Well, you better be living it out. Oh Johnny, you better not be smoking, but you're out back smoking. Oh, you better stay out of them bars, you better quit drinking, you better not drink this and that. But you know, you come home every night and have a beer. Come on, guys. They're gonna be just like us. Your kids are watching. Listen, I got it, I got kids. They've been watching me like a hawk. And they've seen some down and out times. Right? Your kids are watching. Listen to what Deuteronomy chapter six, verse six and seven. Deuteronomy chapter six, verse six and seven. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. God's word should be on our hearts. Listen to verse seven. Listen to verse seven. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit down at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road, when you get up, when you lie down. Listen, we should be talking to our kids nonstop about the Lord. Look what verse seven says. Impress them on your kids. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road. When you lie down, when you get up. Spiritual talk should be a huge part of our lives. I see everyone jumping in on TikTok. You're jumping into a live recording of the Bible Chat podcast. We're kind of wrapping things up here now. I got one more point to make, right? To make sure we're not drifting into this culture, Romans 12 2.

Self‑Check Questions And Final Charge

That's what we're kind of patterning this episode on. Romans 12.2. Do not conform to the image of this world. And again, guys, if you want to have some more interaction with me, um, follow the show on all the uh podcast all the social media platforms. We're going to be doing some TikTok live stuff coming up this week where we can actually interact with each other. Right now, you're just jumping in on a live recording, and this episode will go out a little bit later. But anyway, but the fourth point I wanted to make as we close this thing down, make this is the big one, guys. You want to make sure your family isn't drifting into the culture, then make prayer normal. Listen, guys, please, this one's tough. This one's tough on me too. Make prayer normal, not you and the Lord, and you should better be doing that. I mean, get your family together daily. Remember, we just made a point about that a few minutes ago? Consistency. Make prayer normal. Not dramatic. Prayer doesn't have to be dramatic. I talked about this a few episodes ago. The Bible even warns us of these guys. I see it all the time, man. You're at a Bible study or you're at church and the pastor or someone says, Oh, so and so, can you pray for us? And he goes on with this long, crazy prayer. Come on, guys. Who are you impressing? You're not impressing me. And you're certainly not impressing the Lord. Jesus told us, man, when you pray, make it in layman's terms, make it short and sweet. Make prayer normal in your family. It doesn't gotta be an hour long of all the vows and oh Lord, oh Lord, bless this family all. Help us to to listen. Never mind all that. Say, Lord, help us. Get the family around the table. Lord bless us, help us, guide us, strengthen us. Let us be more like you. Amen. You don't gotta get in no long-winded prayers. Your kids will fall asleep anyway. Oh thou, Lord. Never mind all that. Lord help us. Amen. Right? So as we wrap up this episode, here's a couple quick questions. Self-check questions. Sometimes we gotta do self-evaluation, guys, to make sure that we are not allowing our families to drift in this culture. If you're jumping on now, this is a live recording of the Bible chat podcast, and we're gonna be doing some stuff later in the week to kind of interact. But here's a self-check list, and then we're gonna shut this thing down, right? And only only you know the answers to these questions. Sorry about that, I got a little loud there. Only you know the answer to these questions. What has slowly drifted into your home? Only you know. What has slowly drifted in your home that you know shouldn't be there? What habits need resetting? Oh man, that's tough for me. I got a couple things in my life that I know I need to rid myself of. What habits need to be reset? Right? What conversations need to be started? What are we talking about in the home? What are we talking about to our spouse? What are we talking about to our kids? What conversations need to either end, and what conversations need to be started? Right? And the main the big question, I'm gonna end this here, the big big question to end today's episode, right? Is Jesus clearly the center of my family? And I I can sit here and honestly say most of the time he's not, right? It's so easy to allow the culture drift to happen in our homes. And that's why it's so important that we are taking the proper steps to make sure it isn't prayer with the family, devotion and study time with the family, conversation around the dinner table, conversation one-on-one with each other, right? And like I mentioned a minute ago, listen to this guy. If I'm just babbling here and you've got nothing out of this, listen up to this one thing. If you are not shaping your family, the world will. Right? Romans 12 2. That was our foundational verse today. Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world. Don't accept its values, don't accept its beliefs, don't accept the way it does things. And the main question as I as I close. This episode out is Jesus clearly the center of your home? That's the question. That is the number one question, man. Is Jesus clearly the center of your home? And if he's not, then ask yourself this final question. I know I think I've said that like nine times. What's at the center of your house? What's at the center of your home? What's at the center of your family? Because if it ain't Jesus, it's something, guys. Listen, you can't be on the fence with Jesus. There's no there's no stag. Listen, you're either backsliding or you're growing. You're not standing still. So what's at the center of your house? That's the question as I end this episode. And guys on TikTok, gals on TikTok, I appreciate you guys jumping in. I love seeing all the guys on there. I see us, I see Sarah, right? I see Chris. I see you guys. I appreciate it, man. Again, and during the week, um, during the week, we're gonna be doing a TikTok live a couple times where you guys can actually interact with me. So listen, follow us on the uh social media platforms. We're on all of them TikTok, Facebook, Instagram. Uh the episodes get uploaded to YouTube. Um, and that's awesome. But again, I'm gonna close it right here. What's at the center of your house? Right? Stay strong, guys. Culture is loud, truth is steady. You don't have to panic, you have to be intentional. Protect your home, guard your hearts, lead with conviction and point your family back to Jesus. Protect your home, guys. Guard your hearts, lead with conviction and point your family back to Jesus and stay grounded. And I'll leave you with this final scripture. I leave this, I end every episode with this one scripture, First Corinthians chapter fifteen, verse fifty eight. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, be immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord, man. Thanks again, guys, and always remember this is the Bible Chat Podcast. Real faith, real life, and no fake stuff. Stay in God's word, stay out of this world. Peace out, everybody.
