Scott Carden (NRMA)
Scott Carden is the Head of Engineering at the NRMA, where he leads the design and rollout of one of Australia’s most ambitious EV charging networks. With a background that spans IT, mechatronics, mining, defence, and infrastructure, Scott brings a unique systems-level perspective to solving the technical and economic challenges of building a national charging backbone.
His work has included the Aldunda off-grid EV charging project in the Northern Territory, integration of solar, battery and diesel systems for remote sites, and the strategic deployment of fast chargers every ~150 km across Australia’s highways.
Passionate about mentoring the next generation of engineers, Scott champions first-principles thinking and fresh approaches to infrastructure. Under his leadership, the NRMA is proving that EV charging in Australia’s most remote and challenging environments is not only possible, but essential for the future of transport.
