Portia Rooney is the founder of Adelaide-based Net Zero Engineering Solutions (NZES), an innovative startup focused on accelerating consumer-centric Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) bidirectional electric vehicle (EV) charging technology.

Her recent work and achievements include:

V2G Scaling Grants: Rooney received an iMove Cooperative Research Centre grant for a project which adapts Europe's leading V2G models for Australian power grid conditions. 

Churchill Fellowship: Through her 2025 Churchill Trust Fellowship, she investigated advanced bidirectional charging worldwide, leading to collaborations with international leaders like We Drive Solar & the International Energy Agency's Task.

Industry Leadership: She contributes to the National Roadmap for Bidirectional EV Charging, acts as a committee member for the Smart Energy Council, and is a prominent speaker at industry events like the EV Infrastructure Summit.
