SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Beyond the White Coat Podcast, where we break down myths in health, beauty, and wellness so you can look, feel, and perform your best. We're your hosts, Shariam Mamm and Megan Del Corral, here to bring you real talk beyond the medical titles. Before we dive in, quick disclaimer. The views and opinions shared in this podcast are for entertainment purposes only. This is not medical advice and does not reflect the host's roles or responsibilities at Vital Medical or Hue Aesthetics. Now let's get into it.

SPEAKER_02

Hello, welcome to Hue.

SPEAKER_00

We're shooting live today. Welcome to another episode of Beyond the White Coat Podcast. I look so cute right now.

SPEAKER_02

You do look cute.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, so if you're just listening, I'm gonna paint the picture. One, my face is orange. Not because I I guess I put self-tanner on, it's probably what it looks like, but because I just got a VI peel, like a V as invitator. And this is July when we're recording, so we're gonna talk about why it's important to do peel in the sun. Absolutely. And then two, I got my quarterly talks. I've got little pinholes all over my face. So I've got a little hair tie in, and we're just rocking this orange bloody look.

SPEAKER_02

Also, we are running a special on the VI peel and toxin combined. So you want to make sure that you take advantage of this special as well. Alright, let's start there. So how have you been?

SPEAKER_00

I'm good. Last week I recorded solo, which was very sad, from Utah, which is why I got a peel today. Because I this is the first time I think I've ever gotten a peel in the summer, like in my whole life. Because you taught me this. So we were in St. George, which is like basically Las Vegas. It's like the very southern part of Utah. It was 108 degrees in the desert. And I put on SPF 50 like every 30 minutes while I was outside, but the UV rays are so strong. So what is the peel in the summer post-sun exposure gonna do for me?

SPEAKER_02

So we have to make sure that we understand, regardless of what's happening in the atmosphere, outside weather, getting a peel all year round is extremely important because you have to understand the mechanism of action of a chemical peel. Right. So this particular one, the VI peel, targets specific things. And for you, you've struggled with hyperpigmentation, right? Yeah. So I always explain to my patients once you see any color on your skin, that is a defense mechanism.

SPEAKER_00

Your body is like so good MTAN, but it's actually tan, right? It's like an adverse reaction.

SPEAKER_02

It is an adverse reaction. So because I know your skin, and most people already, anybody generally above 20 is gonna have some sort of sun damage, right? Right. But in particular with your skin, we've already cleaned up your skin, and I and I've shared with you like you have to suppress the melanocytes, right? Yes. You have to suppress the melanocytes because they want to spit out color. It's just a defense mechanism. It's like your poor skin is doing its very best to protect you. And there's different triggers, like color in the skin is triggered by different things. It's not just you know UVA, UVB, although those are the worst things for you. I mean, you can trigger color in the skin by different medications, hormones, we know that now, right, right, temperature, right? So there's different things that can trigger that, and we just want to overall keep these things at a bay, silence them a little bit, make them work a little bit harder. Right, right. Uh, and so that's one of my favorite things to do is to say, hey, you should be coming in and getting chemical pills even throughout the summer. Obviously, you want to follow post-care, pre-care, but I get the best results, right?

SPEAKER_00

And then pairing it with toxwide.

SPEAKER_02

Once you open up the channels, like you got to think about your skin, that superficial layer, right? The uh VIPL itself, one, it has phenol in it, so it helps to kind of numb. So you know, it helps with that, but it opens up the channels for the neuromodulator to get really uh deeper into penetration because when we're talking about neuromodulator neurotoxins, we're trying to hit the motor in plant in motor implates, and so it just allows that neurotoxin to spread and get to where it's really supposed to get. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm super pumped, but that's why I look like a crazy person.

SPEAKER_02

But I'm so proud of you. When you texted me and you were like, Oh my god, I need a chemical peel. I need to suppress my melanocytes, I need to suppress this pigmented lesions. I'm like, I'm all for it.

SPEAKER_00

I also, I mean, I've been shamed a little bit by my new dermatologist who lives on my street, so you know, nothing worse than your neighbor seeing you all the time. So I'm like, she's like, I see you running outside, and I just want to put a hat on you.

SPEAKER_02

Um wait, I gotta tell you something. Well I have kind of talked about you a lot. Like, not in a bad way. Oh gosh, what happened? I did not know how OCD you were. No, I'm really bad, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh about your eyes. Oh yeah, I don't like to have I don't like to wear sunglasses. It's been a whole new thing. Like even this on my head, I keep thinking about it, but I want to keep my hair back because I have appeal.

SPEAKER_02

Where does that come from? Because I don't think we ever really I never knew that until you shared that.

SPEAKER_00

So I don't like things on my head, I don't like things on my face, I don't like to have my face touched. Even, I mean, God bless Camille who does my makeup, my glam. She puts on this like sponge thing where it's like a barrier between her finger and my face because when we first started working together, I kept like twitching and I was like, I have a like a tick almost, I don't like my face touch the whole thing. I've I mean I've always been obsessive. And just to be honest, to go back, listen to episode one from a million years ago about my history of being anorexic and da-da-da. It's very much in that same spectrum. So a lot of people who are anorexic or have been anorexic, we tend to be really type A personalities, but there's a definitely a difference between type A and like clinical obsessive compulsive disorder, which is what I have, which is my DSM 5 diagnosis. And I'm okay with that. I don't mind sharing because I think it's important to recognize and and and not we joke around in my house about me being crazy, but my husband will actually always remind me, he's like, No, I mean, he's like, You're not crazy, you you just have OCD, and we need to can try to control the controlling.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely. You know, I will tell you when I came over for David's birthday party, I think I witnessed it for the first time because I mean I've been to your house numerous times, and like I'll have like food there, I'll drink there, and you kind of come up like you come behind me and like wipe things down, but like during David's party, I was looking at you because I was looking for you most of the time, but I could tell there was such angst and anxiety because there were so many people there, and I was just thinking, like, I fully I wanted you to just like try to relax and have a good time. And I think that you even shared that you hired like a cleaning crew to come in, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, we had a cleaning crew, and we do a lot of that because my again, I'm very blessed. I will always say this to the day, I'm very blessed. I have a very supportive husband who understands my disease, and he always says, We need to set your environment up for you to be more successful, so he knows if I have a cleaning crew coming, I will decompress a little bit. But it is stressful, especially when we have events, and it's hard, and I try to balance it in my marriage because my husband he grew up in a house where I kid you not, they had dinner parties every week. I mean, he's used to his mom was a social butterfly. She was on the board of the American Heart Association, she was friends with the mayor in Baltimore. She had a TV show on PBS called Honeymoons Are Forever. Like, yes, Lorde is fantastic. Oh, she's a wonderful woman, God rest her soul. So, Lourdes, my mother-in-law, who passed last December, I mean, was a social butterfly. So trying to fill those shoes, and David's like, I want to have this big party, and I want to have a chef, and I want to have a tarot car reader, I want to have DJ, I want to do this. And I'm like, Okay, that's fine, but like nothing triggers me more than all of that. So that but what has helped is like through the aging process is really just like shaming. So I went to I have really, really, really bad eyesight. I've worn contacts since I was in second grade, and I have my eye doctor appointment this year, and you know, they take the exams, and essentially my eyes are like flat because I have such bad uh presbiosis, and so I see at 20 feet what people with 2020 vision see at 1,050 feet. That's how bad it is. And he was like, We've been talking a lot about surgery and maybe putting a lens implant and da-da-da. And he was like, Yeah, I think it's still a good option, but you know, with how bad your eyes are, the one thing you're really at risk for is macular degeneration. And I was like, Okay, well, what can I do to prevent it? Like, I'm pretty healthy overall. And he was like, You uh you need to wear sunglasses like when you're outside, and I was like, like clothing, and he was like, This is what triggered that yeah, yeah. And he was like, Well, are you outside a lot? And I was like, Oh yeah, oh yeah, you're running like a hundred miles. Yeah, I was gonna say I'm trying for two world major marathons this summer, and he was like, You have to. So I will give kudos to the Oakley Vanguard Meta sunglasses. The thing I do like about them, different from most sunglasses, they're a complete wraparound, so it I don't actually really feel them on my face, and the thing on the nose is super super soft. You really don't feel it. So they actually don't bother me quite as much. I tend to like touch them sometimes because I'm like, oh, there's something there, but they're actually pretty tolerable. So that's my crazy. It's okay, and I own it, and I've been in therapy.

SPEAKER_02

I think everybody has some crazy things.

SPEAKER_00

I think also it's what makes me great, right? In some ways, like where God gives you, he takes in others, right?

SPEAKER_02

That's that's that I I uh I wanted to touch upon something really quickly for our viewers, and I think that we have like shared viewership. Um what is going on with your Instagram, Megan?

SPEAKER_00

I can't, you guys. Please send help. SOS. SOS, send up a bat signal, like help me help a girl out. Okay, so we're gonna we're gonna spill all the tea right here. Yeah. So today is Wednesday, July 1st. Last Thursday, which would have been June like 26th or 27th. I went to log into my Instagram. Oh no, actually, I lied because I was in Utah, I was two hours behind. I woke up to a text from Erin, who's my social media coordinator, and she was like, Don't panic, your account's been disabled. And I was like, What? And I tried to log into my Instagram and I couldn't log in, but it was like blank, like the page was like loading, and I log into my email and I get a notification, your page has been disabled. Mind you, I have a pretty modest following, not anything robust. We had about 3,000 followers. My page gets like 70,000. I learned all this afterwards that was 70,000 views, and which is like nothing to write home about. I've never had a violation, I've never had a warning, I've never had one of those like this is cringy content. I don't even know what they say, this is explicit content. I've not had a single thing. And most of my recent content, to be honest, was all around running the B3 event, my dog was sick, like that. So I was like, okay, and again, and to this day, as of July 1st, we've not gotten an explanation. No one's been like, this is why, this is the post, this is what's wrong. So we're all just speculating. Yeah. The f and so that's been horrible.

SPEAKER_02

And our B3 page was connected to that.

SPEAKER_00

So if you were following the biggest thing, like a few days later, the B3 event page got taken down. So we are now posting it's B3 Summit or Beauty Biology and Beyond Summit, and I'll link to it in the show notes of this. Is now live as a backup page because I mean to be honest, the event is three months away and we need to like get that going.

SPEAKER_02

But so if you're listening and you uh you gotta understand, like we all live on social media, right? And we have businesses, we're entrepreneurs or even just like your personal page, you have videos and things that you capture and download.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I'm most sad about. I was like, okay, you want to take my page down, make me start over, fine, I'll play the game, but give me my content back. And it is dumb. So they send you this thing where it's like you can download your file here. And I was like, good, I want to download it because I have pictures from my wedding, I have I have videos from my dog who's now 14 when I first got him on my Instagram. And in the download file, it is none of that, it is like your uh your photo that you choose for your Instagram handle, like your bio, and like a few basic things. You don't get any of your content back.

SPEAKER_02

And like obviously, we're not like social media experts. Erin, shout out to Erin, she's been working so hard. Erin is our media guru, and she's just been working this girl has like people for this.

SPEAKER_00

She was like, I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_02

We've just learned so much, so I've learned a lot. You know, my message to you is make sure you have a backup plan if this happens to anybody because we don't have the answers as to why this even happened.

SPEAKER_00

Moving forward, so she and I I told her we were gonna give it till Friday, which will be eight days. And I was like, Okay, it's been a good thing for me in terms of I've had no social media, I haven't gotten on, which is kind of nice. I've been on YouTube a little bit. So, one, we are pushing more content to YouTube, so the podcast, podcast shorts, all of that's now gonna be on YouTube. And she and I are meeting on Friday. We've already had like 1700 meetings, and when I've met with my branding team and we've kind of come up with other strategies, we've even like we've already created like another email and we're kind of ready to go with another backup account. But I was like, let's just please try. And but I did tell her today, I was like, listen, I'm pissed. Yeah, like I'm pissed because one, I'm a licensed medical professional, so anything I talk about has science behind it, credibility. I'm not a shark, I don't over-prescribe, don't oversell, I've never hurt someone. I have no ill will in the medicine I practice, and I can go to sleep every night knowing that like I take care of my patients. So I know that like nothing I've done is inflammatory or wrong. Now, lesson learned, and we're gonna be better. Most likely the thing that got us cancelled was peptides. I don't know what about it because again, I only prescribe peptides that are available at an FDA-approved compounding pharmacy, so I don't talk about it.

SPEAKER_02

This is just an assumption, or I mean we have no idea. I have my own assumption, but yeah, you know, I'll just have those thoughts to myself, but yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So lesson learned we can be better. But I told her I was like, I'm angry and I'm ready to come out with a vengeance. I've never had a TikTok, I'm not really present on YouTube, I'm not good at like creating content, and I was like, I'm all in.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you know, one of the things when I when we met like several years ago is just, I mean, we've shared this, like you're just understanding a level of knowledge. Like every time I refer a patient out to you, one of the things that I'm most proud of as a practitioner, seasoned practitioner in aesthetics, is that my patients, once they get to know me, they and they say, Hey, who would you send me to? Right. And I said, and I said, There's only one person I would send you to. Same. Like people are like, What should I do with my face? And I'm like, US HR, don't ask me anything else. But I I think what I'm trying to get up across is that there is nobody that I feel like the level of knowledge and experience that you have beyond what we are, you know, what we are supposed to do, like the level of understanding, the level of experience, the level of passion. Thank you, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, and so for me, it's like I see things all the time on social media where I'm like, what in the world is going on?

SPEAKER_00

I know that's how I feel too. I feel that little level of like you were a kid, you know, and you're not allowed to do something. You're like, but he's doing it, she's doing it, and your mom's like, I don't care what they do, and you know, absolutely. That's how I'm feeling right now. You can tell baby king that we're on live. I keep like hey David, we're live to like X out my thing here. So I'm going all in. I'm gonna get a TikTok. I bought a little what like a not a tripod, but like a thing that goes on my phone so I can hold it out when I video. Yeah, we have like I know I either up.

SPEAKER_02

I'm tearing you on, I'm gonna be in the background, I'm gonna be uh promoting you because I think you know, and I I met with a a really well-known plastic surgeon in the area.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, tell us about that.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I was treating a plastic surgeon's wife, and I didn't know that her husband was a plastic surgeon, and she had shared with me that uh her husband loved her results and he was just like, who is injecting your face?

SPEAKER_00

Which is hilarious because he's a plastic surgeon. Like, what's he doing?

SPEAKER_02

That's not going to him. So I won't I won't go into details. Yeah, yeah, we have to name call here. But this is what I'm talking about. When you find amazing people, when you build a team behind that, I stand behind what you do. I believe in you, and that's why I'm going to blow you up.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, I'm so all in. I was like, I'm gonna do all the cringy stuff. I'm gonna have all the little running videos where it's like, come run with me, man.

SPEAKER_02

Oh wait, you know what my favorite videos are? There is this, I don't know who he is. He has like probably like a billion followers. He's this hot athlete, he's African American, and he runs really, really fast up a hill. Oh, I don't know. And he like splashes like he like splashes like iced water in his face, and then now he's having celebrities like run and do that.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's so funny.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's so funny. But I mean, he is super uber, like he's super famous. Oh, cool. And he's got, like I said, like three million followers. Oh you should run up the hill and make your friends run with you.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I'll do whatever. So it's so funny because I talked to my uh my videography team about this, and I was like, Okay, guys, so who's coming on a run with me? Because this is what he needs to they were like, can we ride a bike? And so you definitely ride a bike next to me. So we have already talked about it. I'm like, okay, I'm gonna do some of my long runs, like at Loveland Trail, which is a flat trail, so they can literally ride next to me or on Riverside, and I was like, We're doing this, like I'm all freaking in. I'm gonna break the internet. Screw you if I if I never say the word peptide again, fine, but I'm gonna do everything else. Can we spell it? Like exactly, yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

So the summit coming up. Yeah, let's talk about the events. It did, let's just be real. I mean, we're authentic, so that put a damper on what we were doing and trying to promote. Yeah, I mean, obviously, having our page taken down, I was like, Yeah, that was a hard one. I think I I think I woke up in the middle of the night one night and I was just like sweating profusely, and I've been like, my god, like we are like our social media platforms are directly linked to this. And we know I was just like, how are we going to do that?

SPEAKER_00

So everyone follow Beauty Biology and Beyond Summit on Instagram. I'm gonna link it below, and let's just put a PSA out there. If so, if you are in the Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky area, please go to our site, please purchase a ticket. It's going to be an awesome event. If you are not in the Cincinnati, northern Kentucky area, send a DM to Chacha. If you want to come, if you invest the time to travel here, we will give you a ticket for free. So send Chacha a DM. If you are coming from out of state, again, not Kentucky, not Ohio, we will send you a ticket for free because we love you and we appreciate the support. The support. Yes. We are very excited. So let's talk about our guests. Let's talk about our speakers, let's lay it out. You start, we'll go back and forth. Well, you know, okay, first of all, thank you to all our speakers.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you to all our speakers. We haven't rolled out all the speakers that are coming.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna end because that way Eric can Aaron can cut all this up.

SPEAKER_02

So one of my favorites is my girl Ofsha. Okay, let's call that Offsha. Since the inception of my career, like almost 10 years now. Um, we worked together, we worked in the same company about eight, nine years ago, and Ofsha ended up moving. She is a boss babe, built her practice with her husband from the ground up, built into three successful practices, and partnered with a private equity firm, and she is just killing it. She's killing the game. She is gonna come and share all of her secrets. We're excited. And I know there's a lot of entrepreneurs coming, and I have just been kind of fangirling her because she is so successful and so smart.

SPEAKER_00

I'm fangirling her, I'm super excited.

SPEAKER_02

She's also a game trainer, so she is a professional, nationally recognized game trainer. Oh, I'm as well.

SPEAKER_00

I'm super excited.

SPEAKER_02

And then my other favorite, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So this, I will say probably this is the talk I'm most pumped for. I mean, I'm excited for all of our speakers, but our girl, Dr.

SPEAKER_02

Susan Oakley, is coming. She's gonna talk about the three holes. Three holes. If you heard her on the podcast, um she uh she she was very transparent, so grateful for all of our guests that come in and just speak the truth because that's what we want to deliver like authenticity. And she's gonna share just all of her incredible professional experience dealing with all things women's health, pelvic.

SPEAKER_00

Um you pee yourself, if you poop yourself, all the things. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Uh she's amazing, and so uh we do have VIP experience. Yes, yes. So if You want to like come and meet all of the speakers, you can have dinner with us.

SPEAKER_00

It's gonna be epic, it's gonna be amazing.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, those are my people. And I will be delivering a talk. I will be talking about why aesthetics is medicine, and I'm gonna do a deep dive in that. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Your turn. Yeah. So okay, we're gonna start with one of my favorite humans. Actually, don't talk about him enough. So, Dr. Jeremy Watson, he's a chiropractor from Amherst, Ohio, which is where I was born and where I lived my entire life. My parents sold my childhood home day one of COVID and moved to Florida. So up until 2020, from 1983, I think they moved there. So even before I was born. Jeremy has known me literally since I was an infant. His mom was my first babysitter. We've known each other our entire lives. We spent, we have to get the exact date right. So I think 22 Thanksgivings together, somewhere around there. Oh wow. We've known each other forever. Like when I say forever, I mean forever. Really forever. Yes. And I have some like specialty I'm gonna spill about him on stage, but I won't say it here. We won't say it. No, he's amazing. So the coolest thing about Jeremy, so he's lives in Amherst, where I grew up, and he's like taken over the town, super passionate about functional medicine, wellness. He bought the like Amherst Cinema, and he does a lot of TED talks there. He built a cafe based on like the whole food diet, and he's and the thing about him and his whole family, they live and breathe out. Like when I was a child, I remember them going out and they would like hunt for their meat and they cook venison at home and like they had a vegetable garden and like they brewed their own beer and they uh fermented their own wine. I mean, they really like just were organic before organic was cool. You know what I mean? And yeah, so he's super cool, known him forever, super excited for him to come. Then we also have Becca Cholensky and Liz Roman, who are the Fit Mom. So Fit Mom is a health coaching brand. I've known them going on I think six years and couldn't be better partners. So they send us patients, I send them patients, and we collaborate on all things women's health. So hormone optimization, gut health, they are like the gut queens, they know how to fix anyone's gut, peptide therapy, all the things. So they're amazing. I love them dearly, we're friends, amazing. And then we have my girl, Erica Lugo. Erica! Shout out to the Fit Move Wait! Yeah, so the Fit Love brand. So Erica Lugo was a celebrity trainer on The Biggest Loser. She's a Nordic track spokesperson, but also just an epic human being, wonderful mom, thyroid cancer survivor, wife, dog mom of four, now three. Energy just jumps off the page.

SPEAKER_02

She's incredible.

SPEAKER_00

She's incredible, incredible, and just couldn't be a nicer person. Like every time I ask her for something, she's like, No problem, of course. Even with my social media, she sent me a text. She's like, girl, why can't I find you? And I was like, Erica, my Instagram got shut down. She's like, Oh my god, what can I do to help? Like, just like such a good friend. I love her to pieces. And I did tell her, Mike Chacha, we'll do anything to your face that you want.

SPEAKER_02

I got you, Erica.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she's if you she doesn't need anything, she's stunning.

SPEAKER_02

Gorgeous, gorgeous.

SPEAKER_00

And then we uh have Jason Theobald. So Jason Theobold is my old business partner, still friend, long time. He owns a medical practice called Advanced Vitality, who's led by Dr. Don Mendelson here in Cincinnati, and then he also has a health coaching company called Scooby Prep. He's an IFBB progue, just like awesome physique athlete, awesome human being health coach. And then we bring it home with the person I and this is a true statement, the person I have been in business with the longest, and that is Vince Pittstick, who's a celebrity functional health coach. Uh he owns vital medical, or sorry, he owns vital coaching. He's my partner in vital medical, just all around cool guy. We've been ride or die forever, so he's like, yeah, he's everything to me. So we've been friends forever. So very excited. And talking. Yeah, yeah. I'm the most boring talk. Yeah, yeah. And we're gonna go live.

SPEAKER_02

We're doing Beyond the White Code.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so we're doing a live podcast, which I think that's going to be so much fun. The best part.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think people will get a lot of value at the Madison Event Center, and then September 18th and 19. Our tickets are still available. Like we shared, being transparent, we had a little bit of a hiccup.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Umce we kind of get our pages up and going. You can follow at Beyond the White Code, be uh Beyond the White Code Injector Chacha. You can DM me for ticket information.

SPEAKER_00

Message me yet.

SPEAKER_02

I will we're gonna get Megan up and going.

SPEAKER_00

We will, like I said, we're coming back with a vengeance. I I like had told myself a long time ago I would never have a TikTok, and I'm like, I want to have seven TikToks. I I don't give me it all. I yes the only thing I won't get too involved with again. Aaron will do this, let's not lie about it, is like Facebook. Facebook is complicated to me, it overwhelms me. But Aaron says she'll manage it.

SPEAKER_02

So our social media is really hard and it's always forever changing, right? Yeah, and so um, just our team, just so grateful with Libby and Olivia.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, shout out to the girls.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they've been so amazing and dealing with our psycho selves and our OCD selves, and yeah, but as you heard tonight, we had a meeting before the podcast.

SPEAKER_00

They think for us. I know, which is why I love them. They're like, okay, what are we thinking for swag bags? Which again, you want to come to the event for the swag bags because that is going to be epic. And they they know they know they know how crazy I am.

SPEAKER_02

And here's the thing that I want to share like this is something that Megan and I have been working on behind the scenes because we truly feel this is such a gift of experience and knowledge that we have that we want to give. We want to share. We want to share this. Like, this is so authentic and health and health optimization, aging, regeneration. And it's never really done been done in this area. So we are a little bit anxious, but we truly feel like this is so special, right? Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

So no, we're we're very excited. All right, tell us about you. What have you been up to?

SPEAKER_02

You know, have been experiencing some things that's really made me kind of do some self-reflection, and we can talk about that at another time. But you know, I'm just always growing, like I want to have the best, most authentic relationships, but also be authentic within myself, right? So it's it's crazy because I So what limits you from that? I think that dealing with trauma at as we all do. This one probably comes from childhood, just always looking for performing at my highest level and never mastering saying, Hey, you are you did it, you're doing great, you're authentic.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you and I remember like, hey, we did the thing, we're just gonna chill.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we're gonna like my face. I posted a picture of myself about two and a half, three years ago against the picture uh that I have currently, and and I gave you a shout out. You wouldn't see, but I gave you a shout out because you're not on Instagram.

SPEAKER_00

Shadow, shout-out.

SPEAKER_02

But it it really talks about my journey. And I and I and I sat there and I pondered and I'm like, do I share this? And I'm like, yeah, because there's other people that's going through the same thing. Like we all have shit that we go through, we all have challenges. We I mean we continue to have challenges, right? Yeah, always always trying to pivot, always trying to make sure that I sit in my authentic self. For so this part of my journey is about surrounding myself. It doesn't have to be perfect, but people that really show up for me. Yes, people that are truly authentic. And it's if you've come to sit in my chair, I am that person. I am a hundred percent authentic.

SPEAKER_00

There's a young lady I even let her inject my nose today because we haven't we didn't even address that for a long time listeners. You guys know you guys know that I am supporting her and her authentic self by allowing her ass. I swear. Okay, nothing hurts me. There's I actually would take lip filler every single day over Meg.

SPEAKER_02

I swear. I hear this injunction all the time about your nose and eye. Happens! It keeps in and your nose turns up, you're you're not flaring as hard, and you're you got this little button nose.

SPEAKER_00

I will tell you guys if you've never if you've never had your nose injected before. The cool thing is when the toxin hits in and you go to sneeze for the first time and your nose doesn't flare, it is kind of a fun feeling. It's kind of like when you have toxin your chin and you sneeze and it doesn't like crinkle, you're like, oh that's strange. So it is kind of fun. But I was just saying I'm supporting you in your chair in your authentic self. I'm like, fine bitch. Inject my nose. I know she's like, we're doing your nose, and I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_02

So I I really I'm proud of you. Every single time, I mean, I I can't say it enough. Like, yes, this is concierge, but we're uh truly treating the whole person. You are, you know, I'm I'm you're making people healthy.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you too.

SPEAKER_02

Because I think we've built a really great team of authentic providers that really are trying to stay in the forefront of medicine and being responsible to our patients, and I love that. And I love uh collaborating with you, which is why that B3 Summit is gonna be phenomenal. Like I'm so excited.

SPEAKER_00

I even have things in my head I haven't even talked to you about that I'm just gonna do that are gonna be awesome. It's gonna be amazing, and I will say, I mean, Chacha No is just when I throw a party at my house.

SPEAKER_02

Oh god, I let me just share with you. I don't do anything. Megan, the Madison Event Center already has chandeliers. We do not need to import them or anything like that.

SPEAKER_00

Please, we won't let it be. Everyone knows I'm a bougie babe. The thing is, like, I can't do anything that's not beautiful and amazing, and it's gonna be beautiful and amazing. Chacha's making it beautiful and amazing. Thank you. Shout out to M-Mode for their support, for everyone who's supported us.

SPEAKER_02

And we have some amazing vendors coming, people that are standing behind understanding the concept is it's hard. Like when you are starting something new that's not been done, and it is testing what's out there, it is authentically testing. Sometimes, you know, we we you're not gonna agree with us, but we stand behind evidence-based practice, and so you know, when we go to the bigger companies that are careful about who they choose to partner with or support, you know, it's such an amazing experience, and uh it speaks to what we're trying to build because we have to sell the vision, right? Right, yeah, and you use the word proof of concept, we have to prove the concept. So we have to prove the concept that this is amazing, and and honestly, we're asking for your support because we're asking for your support. We want you to be there. We want you to have this experience, it's your experience, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and this is why we do it. We do it for the patients, we do it for our friends, we do it for our community. We want everyone to be there, we want you to enjoy it, we want you to have fun. Some other fun things.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna have a makeup artist there, which I didn't Megan's makeup artist, yeah, and she is shout out, Camille. I shouldn't say this because I don't want a celebrity, like a celebrity might come and take her. She is not freaking incredible.

SPEAKER_00

We had Camille um do mini makeovers at Lucy's baby shower and it smashed. People loved it.

SPEAKER_02

I wanted to like, I'm like, how do I keep her? Yeah, how do I keep it? That's how I always feel and she makes you feel amazing. She's like, You're so like, what do you want me to do? Like, you're so beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

She's so sweet and she's so talented, and I just feel so lucky. I hired her, so to give some context. I think it was I met her at my old practice. I think it was the first time, which is really sad because she passed away when I was going on channel 5 with Liz. Yeah. Yeah. And yeah. Rest in peace. Rest in peace.

SPEAKER_02

Liz Bonas.

SPEAKER_00

Liz Bonis, yeah. She died of colon cancer, which is so sad. So I was going there for the first time, and I just went on online and was like, you know, hair and makeup artist, and there was a company that I went up hiring Camille through, but I was like, hey, I have I'm going on the news, I need someone for this, da-da-da. And she sent these two girls, one for hair and one for makeup. One was Ruby, which shout out Ruby Morgan, who does my hair to this day now. I love that about you. You're so loyal. Oh my god, I am too which again, same housekeeper, 13 years. Like, that bitch is gonna die with me. I always tell Michelle. You're coming! I know, Mike Michelle, we can never part. She's like, I'll never leave you. I'm like, okay, that's all I want to hear. So Ruby did my hair for that shoot, and then Camille did my makeup, and I was like, You both are amazing. I just and I just kept hiring and kept hiring and kept hiring, and one day actually Ruby kind of like threw a little shade on the girl who was doing my extensions before, and she was like, If you ever want me to like fix this, you know, like terrified me. And I was like, Do you want to do my hair? She's like, I I need to fix your hair. Yeah, I need to. And I appreciate her. So yeah, and Camille is just amazing. I always tell David, I'm like, my goal in life eventually is to like kill it to be able to bring those girls like with me on trips. Take me, I'll be your aesthetic injector. Of course, like because and not about it's not even about like so. I think what's important for the listeners to understand it's not because I want to have a glam squad with me, it's because I want to be in a place in life where I can elevate someone else's career to the point that they're so appreciated for their skill set that that's where they are. Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? Where I'm like, you are so valuable, you are so amazing. I want to elevate you and give you this experience. I'm going here in Europe and I want you to come with me and that's it. So that's like my goal in life. It's again, I gotta get Olivia and Libby.

SPEAKER_02

That's how I feel about Caitlin and Tori.

SPEAKER_00

I know we were talking about them before.

SPEAKER_02

I just ask, and I know I never really speak about religion and spirituality that much, but I just uh just say a little prayers for my baby Caitlin. She's going through a hard time.

SPEAKER_00

We love you, Caitlin.

SPEAKER_02

We love you, Caitlin, and she's such a gift to Hugh. Like, we are so lucky to have her, and uh she's so valuable, she's such an incredible human being. 100% little prayers for her.

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's challenging. I mean, think back. We're old, old women now. Like when we were in our 20s, life is life is hard.

SPEAKER_02

I think just like I think one of the things somebody asked me, what is one thing growing up that you wish that you had, whether it was provided for you or your parents like you know, helped you through. And one of the things that I never understood how to work through is emotional trauma. Yeah, same. It was very much like my dad was like, suck it up, suck it up. Same. He gave me survivor's guilt, like same. You're alive and that's like who cares?

SPEAKER_00

That's because we're both from immigrant backgrounds. Like my dad was like, no one's being murdered in your home, like in Ecuador or whatever, and same with Cambodia. Yeah, so sure it was definitely that like suppression mentality, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I think that's why I'm so able to compartmentalize. Like, I could be going through a heartbreak and you would never know. You'd be like, Oh my gosh, are you like best energy? I'm like, No, actually, I cried for 400 hours.

SPEAKER_00

You didn't tell me a bit what's wrong with the bitch?

SPEAKER_02

Right. But no, I I think that one of the things I mean when we go back, I mean, I say emotional trauma, but we're talking about mental health. It is.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, going back to OCD mental health, I mean, it it's all buried in the same layers, and I I really champion the generation now that they're very aware of it. Yeah, and I think that's great. I see that in my stepchildren, like they understand, like, hey, I need to protect my space, I need to protect my health, and I'm like, good for you. Yeah, because when I was your age, I mean, when I remember going to grad school, and it wasn't like, hey, I should stop working, go to grad school and like do something else. It was like, no, if you want to go to grad school, you're gonna work night shift, sleep in your car, go to grad school during the day, do your clinicals during the day. Like, that's what it takes if you want to be on top. You know what I mean? It was like grind it out. Yeah, where now they're much more protective because I look back and I'm like, God, I was a shell of a human for seven years.

SPEAKER_02

And still now, still learning and growing. Oh my god. I think I cried like three times this week for no reason because I felt like no, and it's nothing bad, it's just like you have this like emotional, like I compartmentalize things because I heal other people, but I don't heal myself. Right. Right. So I just push through, like, okay, well, I can't show up like this because my patients need me to be the best version. Oh, 100%.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, the first question on a patient appointment is like, hi, how are you? I'm like, Oh, I'm great, how are you? And you in your head, you're like, I'm actually having a terrible day, and like my dog is yeah, you know, I don't know how long he's gonna live and all that.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sorry about that too. No, it's okay, it's okay.

SPEAKER_00

No, he's okay. I will say, I mean, just a little Gibb update. He's doing when you look at him, he's fine. Although today I did find like some peticiae, but so we've been struggling with he's 14 in great shape, but he has a platelet count that's undetectably low. Like we've had a million CBCs, da da da. So we we did the million dollar work up abdominal ultrasound x-rays, da da da. He's doesn't have cancer, doesn't have a spleen issue, but he has immune-mediated thrombocytopenia. So what that means is his immune system is attacking his platelets, so he doesn't produce them. So the risk is bleeding, right? Which he doesn't have, but um the treatment, so we so we started some immune modulators, and like one was called Celsept, which is uh an immune regulating drug, and then one was prednisone, and we I even gave him half the prescribed dose because I know I'm crazy, and he could not tolerate. He was throwing up for a day and a half, he was having diarrhea all over the house, and this dog does not have accidents, he wasn't eating, wasn't drinking, so we had to stop everything. So now, like we're he's his quality of life is back to where it was. It's great. He's not throwing up, he's not having diarrhea, he's eating, he's playing with his sister. I took him swimming yesterday, like he's super happy. But we have this chronic issue that we can't treat. So we have an appointment tomorrow. Actually, we'll see the internal medicine specialist because the next he was like he told me already, he's like, if we can't tolerate orals, then we do Ben Christine, which is like chemotherapy. And I'm like, if this dog is having this dog is vomiting from 10 milligrams of prednisone, he's not gonna tolerate chemo. So David and I kind of already talked and we were like, listen, like what's not decreasing his quality of life is low platelets, what's decreasing his quality of life is the treatment, yeah, right? And we love him and he's so great, he walks a mile every day, like just such a good job. So I'm like, I think we're just gonna not do anything, right? Yeah, and then just a hard decision. Get some resources for when the time comes, which I don't want to cry here because I'm sorry. No, it's fine, but gives no no no, it's okay. But he is like I would say he's like the love of my life. I had him before David and I were even a couple. Like he's been he's been with me forever. I mean he's like my he was my friend, he was my companion, he traveled with me when I was in grad school. Like I've you know, he's been like my my thing, and I rescued him from uh a kill shelter. So I always have that thought of like, you know, someone was gonna end your life at one point and I've always been there for you, and now I don't know how to how to help you. Yeah. But yeah, all I can do is the best I can do, and what I know is not good for him is what makes him sick. Yeah. Because he's a little piggy and he loves to eat. So if I give him a drug that makes him not want to eat anymore, that's not gonna help him. So we're definitely in the face of like, what do you want today? David's like, we had like leftover sausage or something. He's like, I'll eat that later. And I'm like, oh no, no, no, no. Gibbs is gonna eat that right now. He's like, Don't give the dogs my food. I'm like, I'm absolutely giving the dogs some food. I love it. You don't deserve it. So anyway, so that's what's going on with Gibby, but he's fine. And I do think, you know, Nova, our younger dog, I think she feels it.

SPEAKER_02

Is she being more gentle? Because she's a little aggressive little she likes to be beaten up on giving.

SPEAKER_00

I know she likes smacks him, yeah. But I think it keeps him young almost like you know, she's there. Yeah, the day so I took him to the vet, and because he was having all these tests on, they had me drop him off, so I came home, and obviously he wasn't there. And she was like sprinting up and down our stairs, like barking, looking for him, and just crying, and I was like, Oh god, what are we? So I told Chacha before we got home, I'm like, We're actively looking for another dog because we've we've we need a little bit of a buffer, and I actually think in my heart of hearts, he's gonna weather this storm. He's weathered so many storms. A dog's had melanoma, he's had two ACL repairs, he's had a GI bleed from and so I mean this dog has had a million lives, and I'm like, in my heart, I'm like, I think he's probably gonna live another year, which would be great. Maybe I'm being selfish. Um, but so it'll give us enough time to get another dog, like kind of acclimate them. David even has his. Crazy idea that he wants to have four dogs. He's like, let's just have two, and then then when Gibby passes, then we'll have three, right? You know, so we'll see.

SPEAKER_02

Well, thank you for sharing.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm sorry to go into that tangent, but that's where he is.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think that we had a great podcast. It's a good one. I I feel I'm always feeling amazing when we get a chance to catch it.

SPEAKER_00

Same, it's very cathartic. And I just, you know, I just want to tell everybody if you want to look beautiful, but you gotta go through like the what's it, the ugly duckling phase?

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

No like shed your skin. Shed your skin. Wait, so we'll wrap up with a few things. So one, I did a peel today in July. Do I need to do another one in the summer? Like so in the winter, I usually do a set of three. Yes, yes. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Well, actually, it is all about just keeping that those melanocytes suppressed. And if obviously within budget, if you could, I'd want you to continue to do this because as we age, we don't uh create new skin cells. It takes about three to four months, and so we're encouraging cell stimulation, better cellular matrix. So, yes, I'm always gonna encourage like that collagen building process.

SPEAKER_00

So, could you theoretically do a peel every month?

SPEAKER_02

I would probably say every six to eight weeks because sometimes you can over-treat your skin as well. We want to make sure that your skin is full functioning and there's gonna be different things, uh, different customizations for different types of patients. But I love a chemical peel and then pairing it with the Daxified because Daxify is peptide.

SPEAKER_00

Is that what's in my face?

SPEAKER_02

It is, it's I don't even ask questions.

SPEAKER_00

People ask me all the time. They're like, What do you use? I'm like, I would not talk about it.

SPEAKER_02

I love Daxify, it's a peptide-powered neurotoxin, it kicks in quick. Um, it gives a beautiful glow because I you know, I love that. I just got treated as well, but yeah, we're shooting live. We've got the uh July special, and just always happy to be able to share this seat with you.

SPEAKER_00

No, you as well, and then leave the listeners with what's a product you're loving lately.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, I've got I'm just gonna say one thing. It is the firming serum. I've actually been putting it on the inside of my brand. Um, Zio Firming Serum. So uh Dr. Obaji says if you start early, you will not need a facelift. I put it on my neck, my chest, my declete, my arms. So it's like for your body. No, I just put it everywhere. I am obsessed with it. Like I it's part of my quad squad, which will we can talk about that later. But if you're not using firming serum, like you're really missing out on beautiful contraction, it just works and pairs well with the other uh skincare products that I love so much. And one other thing, we are launching color science here. What's that? Uh it's a makeup line and it is phenomenal. So if you want to come and try out our SD Caitlin, is probably the most gorgeous soul, not only inside and out.

SPEAKER_01

She's definitely the most beautiful.

SPEAKER_02

She will help you put together your colors. So if you want to come play, please make sure you do a consultation, complimentary consultation. Come in and see us. Yeah. What do you want to leave the listeners with? Oh my god, that meta sucks. No! Tune out, tune out. No, we appreciate we appreciate social media.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Mark Zuckerberg for the opportunity. I'm kidding. I'll talk about something positive. Something positive. So this is week one, day three of my training for two world major marathons that I'm getting ready for. I'm so depressed. I thought I was doing good as a comparison.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_00

Comparison is a beef of joy. Megan.

SPEAKER_02

I was just happy that I walked up the hill and you went down with a weighted vest on it. That is great.

SPEAKER_00

That is great.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't mean to take that away from you.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, it's okay. So, and um, yeah, so that's that's that. I'm excited. I'm always trying to be a better athlete, improve, be smarter and pumped. We booked our tickets for Berlin. Uh, we're going with Carrie and Brendan, which we're excited about because they my girl Carrie. Yeah, they she has helped me through multiple marathons already, so I couldn't think of anybody better, and then working on our post marathon plan. So we're excited. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Like, subscribe and share, and we will see you next time. Bye.
