on who you are, and sometimes you express this meaning throughout your life. My point today is to help each listener discover what's in their name. You might say, Well, I have a name, and I already know what it means, but I am going to take you a step further. First, let's go back to ancient times when names were very carefully chosen by a parent. Not to say that they aren't today, but most definitely in ancient times people were very careful and strategic about naming their children. Names did have meanings. Names do have meanings. Because they originated as everyday words, nouns, verbs, or adjectives, names were usually described the person, the personal traits, the circumstances of their birth, or parents' hopes and prayers for their child. Names are very often very descriptive or prophetically based on those hopes and prayers of the parent. And over time, these descriptive words, these prophetic words or phrases evolved into the formal titles and names that we use today. So like the commercial says, or ask, What's in your wallet? I'm asking you the same basically, what's in your name? Well, let's go a little deeper and take a biblical journey to explore the first names we become acquainted with in the Bible, and that's Adam and Eve. In the beginning, God created men in his image. In chapter one verse twenty six it says so. And God said, Let us make men in our image after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Adam And Eve As First Names

God created he him, male and female created he them. Now that man was named Adam by God, and the name Adam means man or mankind or of the earth. The Hebrew etymology says it like this. The root word Adamah means earth or soil, and that name reflects how the first man was created from the dust of the ground. It also refers to red earth, which is closely tied to the Hebrew word Adam, meaning red, referring to the reddish color of fertile soil. After Adam came Eve. In Genesis 2, verse 18 it states, and the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helpmate. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept, and he took one of Adam's ribs and closed the flesh instead thereof. In Genesis chapter two, verse twenty two it says, And the rib which the Lord God had taken from man made he a woman and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman because she was taken out of man. In Hebrew, the word for man ish and woman isha reflect their shared origin and unity, beautifully illustrating God's design for humanity. Adam and Eve being one, working together. Later in Genesis chapter three, we see that Adam actually gives his woman a formal name, Eve. It reads in verse 20, and Adam called his wife's name Eve because she was the mother of all living. So you can see throughout scripture, names were never accidental. They revealed identity, purpose, destiny, and relationship. Adam's name reminds humanity of its earthly origin, while Eve's name speaks of life and fruitfulness. In the same way, our earthly names may carry meaning, but our greatest identity is found in the one who created us and calls us by name. So again I ask you, what is in your name? What is your full name? And how did you get it? Well, whether a believer in science or God, we can discover that the two do not necessarily contradict the other as to our origins, hence to the significance of our names. A brief note about science and theology. Well, modern genetics has shown that all human beings share common ancestry. And science often refers to two individuals known as mitochondrial Eve and Y chromosomal Adam. These terms do not mean these were the only humans alive, according to the scientists, nor do they refer directly to the biblical Adam and

Science And Scripture On Origins

Eve. Rather, they describe the most common ancestors from whom all living humans today inherited either their mitochondrial DNA or Y chromosome. Now, even though current scientific estimates suggest that these individuals live thousands of years apart, because of this, some people see a conflict between science and biblical accounts. However, many Christian scholars believe these two views are not necessarily opposed. Because biblically speaking, we know that Adam was made first and tended to earthly matter matters first before Eve was made from his rib. Now isn't that something to think about? So ultimately, while science studies genealogy and genetics and scripture affirms God as creator, they both agree on one important truth. Humanity shares a common origin and an interconnected history. From a biblical perspective, we can affirm that God is the creator of all life and that every human being bears his image and possesses inherent value, purpose, and dignity. Therefore, I believe wholeheartedly this intelligent design that scientists speak of is in all actuality God. So what's in your name? Perhaps more than you can ever imagine. And in order to make that discovery, I believe one has to become acquainted with the name that is above every name. You see, there is a name that we can and should all call upon, and in so doing we are calling upon the source of all things, the power in all things, and the father of all creation. There is a name that carries authority, a name that signifies royalty, a name that represents lordship, prestige, opulence, magnificence, and excellence in all things. The Name Above Every Name

defends, protects, and makes a way when there seems to be no way. There is a name that gives life eternal, a name that shields, and there is a name that gives hope when all else fails. There is a name that is the light in the darkness. There is a name that is peace in the storm, and a name that means friend to the friendless, a father to the fatherless, and a husband to the widow. There is a name that sets a standard against the enemy, a name that speaks to the waters and commands the winds to be still. There is a name above every name, a name that all spiritual beings know and bow to. And there is a name where all creation and everything made will confess as true and faithful. For that name is true and faithful. That name is Emmanuel, God with us. That name is Jesus, God saves. That name is Christ, the anointed one of God, the Son of God, the Son of Man. The Bible uses hundreds of names and titles for Jesus and for God, each revealing a different aspect of his identity, mission, and abilities. The most important names include Jesus, as I just stated, meaning salvation of God, Emmanuel God with us, signifying God's omnipresence, and Christ the Anointed One, meaning his divine nature being God Himself. These names and titles are often categorized by what they reveal about him and who he is to us. So follow me as I detail the list of the most important prominent names as written in the Bible. And as I do, you will also discover the reality of who you are and the name and position God has given you. God, Jesus, the Word of God, the living word, is known and referred by many more names and titles according to his abilities and the depth of his character. They are endless and truly beyond our understanding or capability as mere humans. He is in all actuality, whatever one needs him to be in your life, and that he is and that he will be all things good, all things necessary, all things perfect, and all things perfected. Let me prove to you Jesus or Yeshua as salvation. Let me prove to you Christ as Messiah, the anointed one. Let me prove to you God with us. Let me prove to you, Son of God, in his divine nature as a living word, become flesh. In John chapter 8, it reads, Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, before Adam was, I am. What? Yes, Jesus is saying he is the very one Moses was speaking to in the desert when being sent on his mission to free the Israelites from the Egyptians. Moses asked God, Who shall I say is sending me? Basically, with what authority am I being sent to do this? In Exodus 3, verse 14, God responds and says unto Moses, I am that I am. And he said, Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I am have sent me unto you. Wow. This is most simply translated as I am who I am, or I am what I am, or I will be what I will be. It can also be taken to mean that which will be I am, that which will be or similar. Even in Hebrew, this statement is not merely expressed as a name or a word or description, it is indeed a full poetic expression of God's nature, not just the name, but He Himself. Hence, God has always been and will always be. God is all things required. God is and always has been with no beginning and no end. God is that which is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, knowing the end from the beginning, the eternal and everlasting one that has made all life possible. So what's in an NAME? Well, let's see. He is also known as the Lamb of God, which points to his ultimate sacrifice for the sins of the world. He is called the Savior, the one who has rescued and delivered humanity. He is also known as the Good Shepherd, representing his care, protection, and willingness to lay down his life for his followers. He is also called the bread of life, signifying that he alone sustains spiritual life, the life of all mankind should they choose to believe. He is also the way, the truth, and the life. He is declaring that he is the only path to God that no one can come to the Father but through Him. He, Jesus, is quoted as also saying, I am the light of the world. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. In John chapter ten verse twenty seven through thirty it reads, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father which gave them me is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my father's hands. I and my father are one. Hence, he being one with the Father, he being God as man is all sufficient, complete, and completely sovereign. So what does all of this mean as it pertains to who you are and your name? A lot, a lot, a lot. In order to fully comprehend your name or just who you are, most importantly, you have to consider who you are in regards to your position in creation. So first we have God. I think we've established that. God the Father, God the Living Word, who became flesh, who was referred to as Emmanuel, born Jesus, God saves and later became the anointed one and the savior of all creation when he died on the cross, known as the Lamb of God, the one who sacrificed himself that we might live eternally in his presence,

What God’s Name Means For You

and God the Holy Spirit, the power of God, the person of God who dwells in every person who accepts Jesus Christ as Savior. We have evidence of this in Genesis chapter 1 and John chapter 1. Next, we know we have God creating Adam and Eve, the first humans in the image of God, being the parents for all mankind. So there's our foundation. And in the Old Testament, it is evident that God takes the role of fatherhood and lordship over our lives. In Isaiah chapter 43, verse 1, it says, But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel, do not fear, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine. In Jeremiah chapter 1, verse 5 it states, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you. So whatever your first name is, you should include of God in it. For example, my name is Dina. Thus I am Dina of God. I am Dina made in the image of God. I am Dina created by God. I am Dina of I am that I am. Remember in ancient days when people identified by locale and family name, they were identifying themselves from their place or origin of birth and the name of their earthly father. Well, if God knew us before we were in our mother's wombs, our names before any surname or locale in earth would be given, we would first be the son or daughter of God, for he is the name and he is the place. Everything dwells in him and not apart from him. We are born of him, and our spirits came from him, our spirits returned to him, and hence we were also made living souls by his breath. Boom. I've said it. In Genesis 2, verse 7 it says, And the Lord God formed man on the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man then became a living soul. Job chapter 12, verse 10, and whose hand is the soul of every living thing and the breath of all mankind. Profound, is it not? Now the next understanding of who you are and what your real name is comes from the saving grace that comes from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation offered to his created sons and daughters, the offspring of Adam and Eve. First Corinthians chapter 15, 45 will allow us to move forward from Adam and Eve, realizing that we were not just born of them in the flesh, but now we're born of Christ in the spirit. I hope I'm making myself clear. Again, 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verse 45 says, and so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul. The last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Therefore, in Christ we have eternal life. Therefore, in Christ we have salvation. Hence in Christ we are his anointed ones. We are now his children, not just his creation. Now we are partakers of him. We are not just part of his flesh. We are not just part of Adam and Eve's flesh. We are not just mere descendants, but we have his quickening spirit that dwells in us now. We have an added element. Yes, our spirits are come alive and we are united with the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in the soul of every believer and will never depart. Therefore, we will forever be part of the body of Christ. Yes, part of him and part of his spiritual nature. In John chapter 3, verse 16 it says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. In John 15, it reads, I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. Hence, our entire identity changes in Christ Jesus. Our beingness changes in him. We are no longer just created beings. We are no longer dead men walking. We are no longer sinners. We are now alive in him, regenerated, redeemed, and saved. We are no longer condemned but grafted into his body. We are no longer lost in a world of chaos, but we are found of God by God with a purpose, with hope and a future. We are part of his flock, and he is our shepherd, the one who watches over us, the one who grooms, the one who predestined all to be with him for all eternity in his glorious presence. We become reborn, new creations in Christ Jesus, righteous in him, and literally part of him, unable and incapable of ever being separated or destroyed. In 1 John chapter 3, verses 1 and 2, it says, See what great love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God, and that is indeed what we are. The reason the The world does not know us is that it did not know him. Verse 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And we are part of his body. First Corinthians chapter twelve. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. Ephesians chapter five, verse thirty, we are members of his body. Need I say more? So therefore we know we are part of him, literally. And spiritually we are now of him. 1st Corinthians chapter 6, But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 1st John chapter 4, This is how we know that we live in him and he in us, he has given us of his spirit. So indeed we are created in the image of God. Second Peter verse one says, Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. Therefore, I am no longer just a human. I am no longer just a woman. You are no longer just a human or just a woman or just a man. I am no longer just a teacher. I am no longer just a daughter to my earthly mother or father, or just a sister to my earthly brother. But I am a child of God. I am part of the body of Christ. I now dwell in him and he in me being a believer. I am born of my heavenly Father and a sister of Christ Jesus and a sister to all believers. My family expands, becoming a

Identity Shift In Christ

part of the body of Christ. My identity changes. My name changes. My destiny is sealed with God's approval, and I am now alive in Christ. I am alive in God. My spirit man is now alive, and my soul is no longer dead, but guaranteed eternal life in Him. My purpose is clarified, and my destiny is one of promise. You are given a new life, a supernatural, spiritual life on earth, and an eternal life through the indwelling of the Spirit in us through the salvation of Christ Jesus. Luke chapter 20 confirms it, saying, Neither can they die anymore, for they are equal unto the angels, and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. So if you are a believer, you carry the name that is above every name. You are no longer who you were named on your earthly birth certificate. You are now part of a royal priesthood. You are now a king with a kingdom to rule and to tend to. So am I just Dina? No. Am I just Dina, the child of God? No. Am I King Dina, child of the living God? Yes. Does this sound arrogant? Perhaps so, but in reality not. It's fact. Romans chapter 8, verse 17 says, Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co heirs with Christ. If indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. 1st Peter chapter 2, But your are a chosen generation, you are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God, which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. So what's in a name? Again I say a lot a lot. Everything. For in the name of Jesus we are no longer orphans, we are no longer condemned. In his name we have life and power. In him we are regenerated to original God nature, not the sinful nature that we call human nature. Our original nature was not corrupt or evil. For now in him we are no longer destitute and without a future. We are no longer paupers, but we are rich in all things pertaining to God. For in his name we have his promises, in his name we have his blessings, and so in carrying his name, we have all things that we need to live a victorious life. Revelation chapter 5, verse 10 says, and he has made us unto our God kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth. With our position in Christ and carrying his name, and by the power and authority vested in us, having the keys to the kingdom, we are to rule and reign over evil. We are to transform atmospheres by bringing light into the darkness. We are to proclaim with power the will of God in our lives and that of others. In the name that is above every name, we are to speak death to evil, sickness and disease. We are to speak light to that which is good and that which is of God. We are to make proclamations and decrees as kings. That's what kings do. So as kings, we are to create a kingdom of prosperity and good health in this earthly realm. We are to proclaim God's word and his will over all things, knowing that the word of God is indeed swift and powerful, sharper than any two edged sword, to the dividing of every soul and spirit, marrow and bone, discerning the hearts and minds of men. We are to transform lives in his name, and by his power vested in us, we are to deliver people from the hands of the enemy who suffer from maladies of the mind and corruption of their souls and spirits, knowing that God created us with power, love, and soundness of mind. The mandate? We have it. It's in Matthew chapter 16, verse 19. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. That's a whole nother study and of itself. But again, you see that we have been given authority and the ability to change things. The mandate, we therefore are Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. And that's in 2 Corinthians chapter 5. We are his ambassadors, and we have a responsibility, and we have the ability to make changes in this earthly realm, to make it a better place as rulers over darkness. Yes, we can put darkness down. Therefore, in the name of Christ Jesus, our names carry weight. Our position in him makes us conduits on earth. We are his presence on earth, carrying his glory, shining his light, spreading his love, declaring his word, bringing peace with selflessness and confidence, and knowing who he is and who we are in him. Amen. God knows you intimately, and God has a name for you beyond your earthly name. And in that name is meaning, purpose, and destiny. Isaiah chapter 43, verse 1 says, Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine. John 10, he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. Isaiah 45, verse 4, I summon you by name and bestow upon you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me. So what's in your wallet? What are you carrying? What's in your name? Because your name carries weight.

God’s Personal Name For You

In your name should be Jesus. In your name is the life of Christ if you choose to receive him into your heart. Luke chapter ten verse twenty, Jesus told his disciples, Do not rejoice that the Spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Is your name written in heaven? Are you carrying the weight of God in your name? More than that, even God has a secret, holy name for each of his children. Beyond your earthly name, and by living in his will, God bestows upon you an intimate, personalized, appointed, and reserved name just for each one of us individually. In Revelation chapter 21, it says, To the one who conquers, I will give him a white stone with the new name written on that stone that no one knows except the one who receives it. And more than that we'll be marked by his everlasting love by remaining in him. For the one that has conquered everything is Jesus, and we become more than conquerors in him and through him. In Revelation chapter three, verses ten and twelve it says, Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation which shall come upon the entire world to try them that dwell upon the earth. But behold, I come quickly, hold to it fast which you have, that no man will take your crown. Him that covers and that is overcome will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out, and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and I will write upon him my new name. So there's more to your name than you think. There is weight to your name, and more than that, God will give you an even more personalized name in and of himself when he comes again. Say what? Yes, in the new period of God's kingdom, we will all be marked in complete victory and the eradication of all darkness and evil. And our names will speak to it as his will also. In Philippians chapter two, it is reiterated, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal to God, because Jesus is also God. But he made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of man. Yes, Jesus became human, and he stepped down and became the Son of God, and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even to the death of the cross. Wherefore God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, and that name of Jesus, and that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Hence Jesus God, Jesus the man, Jesus fully God, fully man, calls us to Himself to partake in His goodness, in His love, in His authority, and in His power. He confirms it in Revelation chapter 19. It confirms our royalty in him. I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse whose rider is called faithful and true. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean, and coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the wine presses of the fury of the wrath of God almighty, and on his robe and on his thigh he has this name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In closing, so what is in a name I ask? Everything beautiful and everything lovely and everything eternal, that name being in us, that name becoming part of us, we becoming an heir in him, in the name that is above all names Jesus Christ, he in us and us in him, and the two shall become one flesh because we become part of the body of Christ.
