Send us your questions and reflections!

Before your failures, wounds, fears, and problems ever became part of your story, God had already spoken a greater truth about humanity: we were created in his image.

In this episode of Rediscovering Faith, we explore Genesis 1:27 and the truth that brokenness is real—but it is not the first truth about us. Our problems may describe part of our story, but they do not explain why we exist or possess the authority to define who we ultimately are.

What changes when “I failed” becomes “I am a failure”? What happens when rejection convinces us that we are unwanted, or when our wounds become the primary way we understand ourselves? Genesis calls us back to the beginning—to the God who created human beings in his image and gave every person dignity, value, and purpose.

You do not have to deny your sin or minimize your pain. But you also do not have to allow those things to become your identity. Through Jesus Christ, God is restoring his image within us and teaching us to receive our lives from our Creator.

You don’t find yourself—you receive who God says you are.

Scripture: Genesis 1:27
Episode: “Before Anything Else”
