What painful memory keeps replaying in your mind?
Romans 8:28 does not teach that everything that happens is good. Betrayal, failure, loss, abuse, and suffering are not good. Instead, Scripture promises that God can work within every circumstance for the good of those who love him. Nothing surrendered to Jesus is beyond his redeeming reach.
In this episode of Rediscovering Faith, we consider how regret, shame, fear, and unresolved pain can keep us mentally trapped in the past. Replaying a memory cannot rewrite what happened—but God’s grace can change the authority that memory possesses in your life.
A returning or intrusive memory is not proof that you have failed spiritually. Healing may require time, prayer, trusted relationships, pastoral care, or professional counseling. But when the memory returns, you can reject condemnation, remember the Redeemer, and trust that the wound is not the conclusion of your story.
The past may explain part of your story, but God is still shaping who you are becoming.
