Parris (00:01)
Hey y'all, welcome to Sis Synergy. My name is Parris and I am here with my sister. Say hey y'all.
Syedah (00:09)
Hey y'all.
Parris (00:11)
Yes, thank you for tuning in with us. Welcome. Welcome. We are three fabulous sisters who decided to have a podcast and really just have a conversation together. But why not record it? And that's kind of how we got this thing rolling. So I just want to introduce our us to you guys so you guys can get to know us. So I'm gonna start with the baby sis. Sigh, go ahead and introduce yourself.
Syedah (00:42)
Hello, my name is Syedah and I am baby sis and I'm 29 years old. I have lived in Chicago my whole life and yeah, are we doing full introductions or you just want a little two cent right now like a.
Parris (01:02)
You know,
I'll give him a little, little some some. Mm-hmm.
Syedah (01:05)
period. Well,
yeah, so important things to know about me are that I value kindness and compassion and basic human decency over any and everything. And then right under that are like food and naps. I love sleep and naps. And I'm not very big usually into astrology. But what I've learned is that
it gives very much Taurus energy, which would be accurate because I'm a Taurus. I love decadent things and sleep. other than that, I work in the nonprofit and education sector and have my entire young career of seven years. I am not married to it because I realized there are a lot of really awesome ways to make an impact. And I've had great examples in my family members, my sisters on ways to do that.
but I really enjoyed it so far and I love being active. love nature and I love talking to my family and my sisters, which is why I wanted to do this podcast. we used to do Taco Tuesdays and it was great, but very infrequent. And so to make sure we were held accountable to having us time.
weekly we decided to do this and I was like yeah that's a great idea I'm game and if we never get a single follower we'll have these videos to laugh at for years to come.
Shaunita (02:45)
I'm
sorry.
Syedah (02:48)
And that's you
need to know about me.
Parris (02:52)
Awesome. Awesome.
Syedah (02:55)
Yeah
Parris (02:57)
Shaunita why don't you go next? Tell them a little bit about you.
Shaunita (03:01)
Sure. Hi guys, I am Shaunita I am the oldest sister of the clan. am 44 years old and I, let's see, about me. I have been in Chicago pretty much all of my life with the exception of my college years. I went up the road to DeKalb, graduated with a bachelor's way back in 2003.
And I am currently working, three, currently working in the healthcare field. My degree was in health and human science and I am currently working in that field and have been for probably 20 some odd years. I have two amazing daughters, Taniya and Reaghan, who are my world. I love them both dearly. I love all things family and I especially enjoy hanging with my sisters.
We seem to bring the best out of each other and it's always a guaranteed good time. Even during sad occasions, we're gonna have a good time. It's just what we do. So the idea of having this podcast, like Syedah said, we were pretty infrequent with dates with different things that we all have going on, but we were determined to do what we needed to do in terms of our time and making the time to spend with each other. And so here we are.
Aside from the healthcare sector, am also a travel agent and I am leaning into something else that I'll tell you guys a little bit more about as we continue with the podcast.
And that's it. I'm going to turn it back over to the middle sister, Parris.
Parris (04:47)
Good
All
right, that's me. So yes, my name is Parris. Didn't know we were really telling our ages, but yes, I'm 39. I am two seconds away from 40. I'm excited about that. I am a Taurus, so birthday coming up very, very soon. I love to travel. I love all things women, empowerment, sisterhood, so.
doing this podcast with them was a no-brainer for me. And like Syedah said, just to have some time to get together, like something that we have to be committed to because life, you know, life happens for all of us and we kind of go in our own little corners, but to be able to come together, have fun and laugh. Shaunita mentioned like even during sad times, like I am not the person to sit next to during any event.
Syedah (05:50)
No.
Parris (05:52)
no matter if it's a happy event or a sad event. So that's just not me.
Shaunita (05:55)
at all.
Syedah (05:57)
But the gag
is you are the person who never gets caught, because you're quiet about it.
Parris (06:03)
And that has always been the case even in grade school. I would always make people laugh, but they would be the one that would get detention. I don't know, it's gifts that God gave me. But more about me, I work in the healthcare field. I did that straight out of college in different areas of healthcare. Now I am...
a trainer for their healthcare IT system. So I absolutely love what I do there. Training people who know nothing about IT or even healthcare and watching them blossom into learning and growing in that area. I am also a licensed life insurance agent and working on my investment license. So I am working in the financial services.
industry as well and I love that. But yeah, just happy to be here with my sisters. Fun fact about us is our mothers are sisters and so technically we are cousins but you know nobody could really ever tell us that we really consider ourselves sisters. So we are sisters and
Syedah (07:21)
except
for when I was little and Nene took me places as my mom and I was her child. Okay, sorry.
Parris (07:27)
Why would you be looking at that?
Shaunita (07:32)
That's what they all assumed. wasn't that I took her places, but there is a 15 year age difference. So people would just assume that I was a little hot girl that had a baby as a teenager. I thought I was Brenda's got a baby. Nita's got a baby. And I didn't, had my little sister. That's who I had. So.
Syedah (07:34)
Because.
Parris (07:42)
They did. They thought she was Brenda. They thought she was Brenda.
Syedah (07:43)
Shout out
Parris (07:48)
Yeah, that does.
Syedah (07:53)
Shout out to the Hot Girls.
But I say it because I would antagonize Regan and say I was her baby first. And that was fun for me, respectfully. Sorry, Regan.
Shaunita (08:02)
Yes, you would do that.
Parris (08:02)
Mm.
Shaunita (08:04)
Yeah, you did that to Taniya too, but yeah.
Parris (08:04)
Mm. Mm-hmm.
Syedah (08:07)
So it didn't bother Taniya as much. It really bothered me.
Shaunita (08:10)
That's true. This is
very true. This is very true.
Parris (08:14)
goodness, the fact that we bringing those things up, I don't understand. right. But and also another thing you guys talked about, you guys have lived in Chicago all of your life. fact about me, I have not. And it took y'all saying that for me to really realize that. So I did live in Texas for about three years. My move me.
Shaunita (08:16)
You
Syedah (08:18)
Sorry.
Shaunita (08:19)
This is hilarious.
Parris (08:39)
when I was a few months old and came back when I was about three or four. So I did have a little stint in Texas. Maybe that's kind of why I want to go back. But you know, that's topic for another day. Yes. So I missed out on that. She's 10 years younger than me. So she didn't get to see all of that. But those were definitely a fun time.
Shaunita (08:49)
I loved coming down there. One of my favorite places to travel when I was little.
Syedah (09:03)
I hear the stories and see the pictures.
Shaunita (09:04)
Just stay away.
Yes.
Parris (09:06)
Yes, the pictures are everything. Yeah,
speaking of which, nevermind. Let's talk a little bit and introduce ourselves to the people a little bit more and play some games so they can get to know us. So first game that I want to play is Two Truths and a Lie.
Syedah (09:23)
you
Parris (09:32)
I know now hold on let's let's back up now. I know we in lint season. Okay, so we shouldn't be lying But this is just for the podcast. Okay, so just two truths in a lie. Yeah. Yeah, you know acts for forgive And you know, I really yeah, you're right we shouldn't be lying at all But definitely we should be our purest form in lint season
Shaunita (09:37)
Mmm.
Not that lying is okay outside of linting season though.
Okay, okay.
Syedah (09:59)
the
fifth one all of this.
Parris (10:02)
Hmm. Yeah, I'm sure they're going to understand that later on in the podcast.
Shaunita (10:03)
Mm.
Syedah (10:06)
be
lying. What you mean? I'm just trying to stay out of trouble in this way. All right. Never.
Parris (10:13)
I get it. So does anybody have their two truths and a lot of their ready to tell?
Syedah (10:21)
Since y'all just made it, this whole thing about lying, now I don't wanna go. Need you go.
Shaunita (10:22)
Bye.
Boy, so
I'll go Let's see two truths and a lie about me
Syedah (10:36)
Can we try to guess each other's?
Shaunita (10:38)
Sure.
Syedah (10:40)
bit.
Shaunita (10:42)
You cool with that, Okay, cool. So my favorite color is purple. My favorite TV show to watch is...
Parris (10:43)
Sure.
Shaunita (11:03)
The Cosby Show and my favorite thing to do is taking walks on the beach.
Why did you laugh?
Syedah (11:15)
You fit? Okay,
all right.
Shaunita (11:20)
What is funny?
Parris (11:22)
Okay, so yeah, so for them to get to know you, yes. But we know your favorite thing to do is not walking on the beach.
Syedah (11:32)
It's be horizontal. You like them, yeah. You can like them.
Shaunita (11:33)
I do like walks on the beach though. I love walking
Parris (11:35)
That's not your favorite.
Shaunita (11:37)
on the beach actually, but it's not my favorite thing to do. Thank you. So my favorite thing to do is sleeping. Walks on the beach are probably a close second or third, but I love to sleep. My favorite color is purple and my favorite TV show still is the Cosby Show.
Parris (11:40)
Mm-hmm. Yes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Syedah (11:40)
Nah, we know.
Parris (11:58)
Yes, awesome.
Syedah (12:01)
Okay, I think I can follow this.
Parris (12:02)
Yes, go ahead.
Okay.
Syedah (12:10)
Mine are all like aspirational, I think. Okay.
We'll see how well you know my goals. All right. One.
Shaunita (12:21)
Mm.
Syedah (12:26)
I want to learn to tattoo.
to
I tried to get a job at a 3D printing like filament company and three
I plan to get my pilot's license in the next decade.
Parris (12:59)
Where did these things come from, Allah?
Syedah (13:01)
laughs
Shaunita (13:05)
Wait, what
was number one?
Parris (13:06)
Child,
see, she wanted Lauren had a tattoo.
Syedah (13:08)
I don't know what it is.
Shaunita (13:11)
okay. That actually sounds like something that she would want to learn how to do just because she's her. Definitely the pilot thing I agree with, the tattoo and the middle. Yes, especially the next decade. You're gonna do that like in the next two to three years. the, what was the second thing? Something about a 3D.
Syedah (13:19)
What does that mean?
Parris (13:23)
We definitely know the pilot thing is true.
Syedah (13:32)
God willing.
I tried to get a job
at a 3D printing filament company.
Parris (13:43)
I feel like that may be true. The tattoo, although it sound like something she might want to do, she love to draw and everything, she'll get a tattoo. Yeah, don't think that's the truth. I don't know though.
Shaunita (13:52)
I can't see her wanting to ink up somebody else. She may get one, but putting one on somebody.
Syedah (14:01)
You all did an amazing job. That's actually...
Parris (14:03)
Okay.
Shaunita (14:05)
That's true.
Syedah (14:07)
I don't want to watch people bleed at all.
Parris (14:10)
I didn't think so.
Shaunita (14:12)
That, there you
Parris (14:12)
I didn't think so.
Shaunita (14:13)
go. There you go.
Syedah (14:14)
I don't, I have
no interest in that. But I do like art and I do like getting them.
Parris (14:18)
Yeah, right. That's why it
seemed a little bit almost true.
Syedah (14:25)
Yay! Thank you!
Shaunita (14:25)
Exactly. You did good.
Parris (14:26)
All right.
As for me, what do I have?
Syedah (14:32)
with this pear pear hand.
Parris (14:34)
I like Syedah, love nature. I know how to read music and I can play three instruments.
Shaunita (14:51)
Okay
I don't remember because I don't I don't like nature so I can't remember I'm not gonna say I don't like nature that's terrible I am not as much of a nature girl as I know side is I'm trying to remember side come on help me
Syedah (15:18)
I'm working on it because I don't know the specific number of instruments she knows how to play. And I feel like when people do two truths and a lie, it'd be like a technicality. So I feel like that's the one. Yeah. But she likes nature, but she is like, she's allergic to bees and she be getting irritated easily outside. So I'm like, that also could be the one. I feel like it's the nature one. I feel like it's not the technicality.
Shaunita (15:26)
Absolutely, so the fact that she said three and it may be did I do three fingers? Okay, I had to make sure I did three
My girl, okay
I don't know about the three, it's the nature one. What three instruments? The clarinet and what else?
Parris (15:48)
It's the nature one.
Yeah. Yeah.
I did learn how to play the flute and the piano. Oh, clarinet, flute and piano.
Syedah (15:59)
Hey.
Shaunita (15:59)
okay.
What was that they made us all play in school when we were little? I learned how to play the recorder.
Syedah (16:04)
the recorder.
Parris (16:04)
Booch has a recorder, baby.
I used to... Boom, there we go. Because I used to kill that. I used to get on granny nerves.
Syedah (16:06)
See, now technically you could say four.
Shaunita (16:08)
Four instruments, boom. Listen, me too.
Do, do, do, do. Brady definitely used to be like, get somewhere.
Parris (16:20)
Now let Ruckus
Syedah (16:21)
no.
Parris (16:24)
Yeah, definitely. Do they still do the recorders?
Syedah (16:26)
Y'all stressed my girl out.
Yes. Did you see the last?
Shaunita (16:30)
Reaghan had one,
I think Sinaya did too. I haven't heard people talk about it though. I did not. They had a re, they had recorders.
Parris (16:32)
she sure did. Yeah. I did not. I gotta go watch
Syedah (16:34)
And did you see the last AdBit Elementary?
Parris (16:40)
it now.
Syedah (16:40)
Just the opening. It's just the opening. It's not like a spoiler or anything.
Shaunita (16:44)
Cool, okay.
Parris (16:44)
No, it's
fine. Yeah. Yeah, I definitely got to go watch that. Awesome. So I tell them, do you know how to play instruments?
Shaunita (16:47)
That's so cool.
Syedah (16:48)
But yes.
Shaunita (16:50)
I like it, yay.
Syedah (16:54)
No.
Parris (16:55)
Yes, sir.
Syedah (16:57)
I am currently taking bass lessons. I say I know how to play it? No, but I love it. I have a whole playlist on my phone that's called Bass with Several S's for no good reason because it's all the songs I want to learn to play in the bass. And so far I am learning Prayed Up by Summer Walker. And you know a song I like took to my lesson last night. I was like Angie Stone just died.
Let's get
this girlfriend theme song together. So I'm learning that right now too.
Parris (17:29)
Yes,
Shaunita (17:31)
Aw, yay!
Parris (17:31)
okay. Now that is going to transition me into the next thing I want to ask y'all. If you could live in a sitcom world, which sitcom would it be?
Syedah (17:37)
Period.
We know Nene's She gave it her two shoots in a lie.
Shaunita (17:47)
Thank you.
IDIOT
Parris (17:52)
But is there another one besides the Cosby show?
Shaunita (17:59)
other than the Cosby show.
Syedah (18:02)
While she thinks I call her Nene because her name is Shaunita and one of my other older cousins started calling her that when they couldn't say her full name and then it transitioned down.
Shaunita (18:13)
Boom. And what's crazy is, even on that line, my nieces as well as my children could not say Syedah for some strange reason. So her name is Saadia to them. So we all have these name issues. Parris is the only one that's regular, but nobody spells her name right. So because they always just give one R. So.
Syedah (18:33)
That's true. That's true. I had to
Parris (18:33)
That's true.
Syedah (18:36)
recently change my Instagram name because it was Sadia for a long time just because I thought it was funny. But then new people would follow me and be like, my God, have I been spelling your name the wrong way this whole time? And I was like, no, it's not good. I got tired of accidentally tricking people. Like, that wasn't the point.
Shaunita (18:45)
Okay.
Parris (18:46)
I did notice you changed
your name.
Yeah, I got it.
Shaunita (18:52)
I'm not accidentally tricking.
I think the other show, and I just thought about this show, like out of nowhere, but I used to love the show one-on-one with Flex and Brianna and all of them. And so I think that would have been cool to be a character on that show. There's always something happening on there. So.
Parris (19:03)
Aww. Mm-hmm.
Syedah (19:11)
Which one, who would
you be?
Parris (19:14)
Would you be a neighbor in the building or something?
Shaunita (19:16)
I don't know who I would be. And I also used to think that Moesha was cool when I was younger just because of all of the happenings and the real life situations too that would happen on there. So I don't necessarily know what character I would play or if I would just be an extra, but I think it would have been cool to be on one of those, aside from the cosplays.
Parris (19:40)
I don't think you would have left the Cosby show, but I do think, yeah.
Shaunita (19:46)
I would have been running in there like Peter every week. fun fact, did y'all know that Peter actually had lines, but he never remembered his lines. And that's why he always ran out during the episodes. That was not supposed to be that way. It came out funny, but that wasn't supposed to be the case. He forgot his lines every time, but it was just hilarious because when he would run out, they would just like make it a joke.
Parris (19:49)
not Peter.
Syedah (19:53)
you
Parris (19:56)
Yes.
Okay. Yeah.
every time.
more little
tink tink.
Shaunita (20:16)
That he get paid for forgetting his lines.
Syedah (20:21)
Amen. Comedic relief.
Parris (20:23)
Amen.
Shaunita (20:24)
Absolutely.
Parris (20:24)
So what about you?
Syedah (20:27)
I did not love my college experience that much. So I love a different world. And I'm just like, man, if I had that kind of experience, it would be great. The caveat to that is I love the people I met in college. My friends are the best, my boyfriend, all of that.
Shout out to the other people who went there, but North Western in general. Yeah. So I kind of went that one, but also stop laughing at me, but also I love living single and I feel like the building that I live in right now, two of my closest friends live directly under me. One is Alexis under me and then under her is Daniel. And then there are other amazing.
black women that live in the building that we're friends with. So it's giving that vibe and I love it. But if you like made it the 90s and I was maxing and shout out, turn it out loud, baby. Couldn't tell me anything. So I also like that one. How about you pair pair?
Parris (21:35)
I think for me it would have to be...
different world for sure.
Number one, I think more so like living vicariously through them. I didn't go to an HBCU, but I always wanted to so I think for that and They had they built very close friendships during the time which I did as well in college so that would be one and then also girlfriends because I have very close friendships
with friends that are friends. So it's like we have a very big circle of friends and I think girlfriends kind of emulate that. And then I kind of thought about it too and I have one good male friend kind of like they did in girlfriends too. I don't know if there's no male. Yes, please say that. Okay. But I think that really is and I didn't
Syedah (22:31)
but you don't end up with him. That's important.
Parris (22:44)
Like I rewatched some of the girlfriend episodes and it's kind of like hit home now that you in your 30s going into 40s. It's like kind of relate more because back then I didn't know what was really happening. But yeah, I think that's that's it for me.
Syedah (23:00)
Maybe I need to start rewatching some of these shows.
Shaunita (23:00)
Cool.
Parris (23:04)
It's different when you watch them as you get older.
Shaunita (23:07)
Yeah, I agree with it. Even the Cosby's, not that I didn't understand it when I was little, but I now understand more so on the parent side, now that I'm a parent, what Cliff and Claire were talking about when I was growing up. It was the kids' side. I'd be like, yep, I'm dealing with that right now. But now I'm like, I'm dealing with that right now, just on the other side. No, they're not going to go have big fun. No.
Syedah (23:08)
Okay.
Parris (23:28)
So you wouldn't let your kid go see the wretched?
No?
Okay. Awesome. Ooh, child, you gonna take them to have big fun?
Shaunita (23:37)
Not unless I'm taking them.
I mean, if they want to go to a concert, we not going to have no van stolen and somebody steal y'all tickets and all that. No, we not doing none of that. That was on the episode of the Cosby Show, so you gotta watch it. yeah, but we can't, no. I have to, just like I took you to a concert when you were younger, to go see your favorite people, that's how I would do them. Other than that, no. Like in a whole other state, maybe if y'all were here, like if they were here.
Parris (23:44)
Mm-hmm.
Syedah (23:52)
No, I'm gathering this. Thank you.
Parris (23:54)
Yes.
No.
Shaunita (24:11)
But Vanessa literally went to a whole other state. no, no. Terrible.
Syedah (24:15)
all y'all had to do was say it was Vanessa.
Parris (24:19)
don't do that!
Don't do her.
Vanessa was the innocent child.
Shaunita (24:28)
until she got to her teenage years.
Parris (24:31)
Ain't that how it always is?
Shaunita (24:33)
Well, Denise was always well, I guess when it came on she was a teenager she was always but Rudy wasn't that bad as she started going into her teenage and not like Vanessa and Theo was just Theo so
Parris (24:36)
See what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll come back to that right All right, I want to ask let's see what else I want to ask y'all so when it comes to Well, is there any show that you are currently binge watching or is there a show that you previously binge watch and
Syedah (24:47)
Mmm.
Shaunita (24:49)
Okay. Okay, Uncle Lee.
Parris (25:14)
you would go back and re-watch it.
Shaunita (25:19)
I am not current currently been watching anything, but I would go back and binge watch Orange is the New Black House of Cards Schitt's Creek Those are three that I would go back that out the side because it's Schitt's Creek is her fault, but
Syedah (25:20)
Several.
Thank you.
Shaunita (25:43)
Yeah, those are three shows literally all because I had to get my hair done. You're right. You did not. Absolutely. You did not. I literally binge watched. Yeah. So.
Parris (25:43)
She put the whole family on.
Syedah (25:46)
And you're welcome. What can I say except you're welcome.
But did I steer you wrong? That was the price for the hair and I did not steer you wrong.
And that's how we got through with taking me 10
hours.
Shaunita (26:07)
that part Jesus Christ.
Parris (26:08)
ends
Syedah (26:08)
I am not a professional.
Parris (26:09)
and what about you, Sigh?
Syedah (26:12)
I think she just said it. I'm trying to, I know it's not even February no more, but it's Black History Month all year long. So I'm like, what's a black show? Like besides the ones we just named. Hmm. I mean.
Parris (26:24)
Nah, I think for
you, you would- go ahead. Mm-mm, go ahead.
Syedah (26:27)
No, sh- tell me.
I'm thinking about Abbott right now and I'm like, yeah Abbott is that show. Schitt's Creek obviously.
Parris (26:36)
I thought you was going to say that Issa
Rae Show.
Syedah (26:40)
Okay, hear me out. I love Insecure so much. It stressed me out though. Like I go to TV to escape and laugh and have a good time and Insecure, oh the mess, it had me stressed. So I would binge watch it again but it's not like at the top of my list. It was a great show though.
Parris (26:59)
Yeah,
I, I tried, so everybody around me watched insecure. And during the time I never watched it and I had never seen an episode. then everybody was like, you should watch. You should watch. This was after it even went off. So I tried to watch and again, I was like, ain't got nothing to do. I'm watching. My mom was over and I tried to watch it with her and it was that one episode. She was singing that song. What song was it?
Syedah (27:29)
pissy.
Parris (27:30)
Yes, and maybe when, yeah. And when I say you, was like, this probably is not the show that I should watch with my mom. So I haven't picked it back up. Okay. Okay. You didn't tell me that.
Syedah (27:40)
No, not with your mom.
Shaunita (27:44)
I've never seen an episode,
so what did it come on? I mean, like...
Syedah (27:47)
Your face just told me that. HBO Max.
Parris (27:50)
It came on
HBO, which I didn't have HBO, so yeah. But for me right now, I'm binge watching, not really binge watching, but I'm watching Paradise. A lot of people have been talking about Paradise with Sterling Brown. It's pretty good. I'm on episode four. I think there's eight episodes. And so yeah, that's good. Schitt's Creek, of course, I love that. And then...
Syedah (28:02)
Hmm.
Shaunita (28:02)
I've about it.
Syedah (28:18)
Because
your who?
Parris (28:20)
Because of you, child. I'm David, and you're Alexis. Very, very much so. And I mean, since we both said Schitt's Creek, my absolute favorite episode was the tax episode. And he said, who's gonna write this off? The tax write-off. The tax write-off, Yeah.
Syedah (28:21)
No, because you're who? Yeah. Yeah, I am a-
my God.
It's a tax write-off. I don't have to pay for it. You're not getting
Shaunita (28:46)
you
Syedah (28:46)
it.
Parris (28:47)
He
ordered skin care because he said he was the face of the company. I mean, it just was priceless. It was true. was very true. So yeah, that's it for me. But listen.
Syedah (28:52)
and it was true.
gotta
give honorary mentions, or yeah, honorary mentions to National Geographic, almost everything on National Geographic, and to Only Murders in the Building. That's a show that I just caught up on and I love it. It's great. Only Murders in the Building.
Shaunita (29:17)
What is it called?
Parris (29:20)
I was
so confi- I I've watched, I think with somebody else watching it, like just sitting there and I'm like, I don't know what's happening. So,
Shaunita (29:22)
I've never heard of that.
Syedah (29:29)
Was
it in the middle of a season?
Parris (29:32)
Yeah, I mean...
Shaunita (29:34)
This is something you have to catch from the beginning? Like the first episode? Okay.
Syedah (29:37)
at least the beginning of a season, because it
starts off with the murder and then the rest of the season they're trying to solve it.
Parris (29:45)
Yeah, I gathered that, it just, was, okay, yeah, it wasn't, yeah. I don't know about that one. So yes, I want to talk a little bit about, you know, where they can find us, where we're going to be at. Shani, you wanna go ahead and tell them where they can find us?
Shaunita (29:45)
Gotcha.
Syedah (29:49)
Okay, okay. That's it. I love it. I think it's funny.
Shaunita (30:10)

She has a surprise coming up real soon So we're be talking about that talking about finances some hot topics here and there but it's really
Syedah (30:34)
Woo.
Yeah.
Parris (31:03)
you know, a safe space to come together to talk all things that we as black women, millennials, Gen X that we deal with, but just really coming together, sit, talk, chill. We may have some tea, we may sip some tea, we may sip some wine. You may never know, we may spill some tea, okay? But this is what happens when the three of us get together. You just never know what may come up.
Syedah (31:20)
PLC
Parris (31:31)
So that is all for today, guys. Thank you so much for tuning in.
Syedah (31:34)
Wait,
Shaunita (31:36)
you
Syedah (31:36)
what about Jesus?
Parris (31:39)
yes,
because we are all about faith, family and love. So we do have a segment called Jesus Corner where we talk about positive perspectives and different things. So, Cy, what you got for them?
Syedah (31:54)
yay, okay. Today isn't really much of a question. It was an astute observation. But have you all noticed that a lot of the scripture that people can very readily quote, it's because like in the 90s or early 2000s, someone basically made that scripture into a song? I think that's a brilliant way to conduct Bible study. So I was like.
Parris (32:16)
Yes.
Shaunita (32:16)
Yes.
Syedah (32:22)
singing a song recently and realizing like, this song is really repetitive, but also everybody knows this verse. So goal accomplished. Like good job, Kirk, you know?
Shaunita (32:30)
Absolutely.
Parris (32:32)
Right, that's how we learned our Bible verses.
Shaunita (32:32)
Yeah. Absolutely. And it's 90s, 2000s, like for this generation, but that's how it's pretty much been like for a long time. Like I remember hymns and things like that from back in the day and the scriptures associated with them. But I was able to remember them because of, like you said, the repetition of songs. So I think that that
Syedah (32:35)
That's crazy.
Shaunita (32:55)
like is vital in learning the word, especially if you're a music person.
Syedah (33:02)
Okay, do
you think it's?
Parris (33:03)
Well... Go ahead.
Syedah (33:06)
Do you think it's turning away from that?
Shaunita (33:08)
from what?
Syedah (33:10)
in mostly being verses. the hit songs nowadays, like even our church's song, our God is awesome isn't even a word in the Bible. like, you thought I was worth saving. He's intentional. The hits, I feel like of today are not necessarily that.
Shaunita (33:32)
I think go ahead P Now I was gonna say I think that Back the old-school way mostly was geared towards Bible verses. Some of them today are still that way, but there are a lot
Parris (33:32)
Most... Mm-mm, go ahead.
Shaunita (33:47)
now that it tells the story about a person's life and what God has saved them from and the things that they have been able to travail because of God. And I think that that is also what makes them relatable because this is real life, life, life. And so this is how we deal with it. So if it's something that sticks with us, it's like, them too, like you realize that you're not the only person dealing with whatever it is that may be going on.
becomes your testimony as well.
Parris (34:21)
I was just really trying to think of a hymn that had a verse that I knew. Cause I don't, I don't know. Like I remember the Lord, heard my cry, but I don't know what verse that came from. I just remember seeing the vows, you know.
Syedah (34:21)
Parris, what were you saying?
True.
Shaunita (34:41)
Ha!
Parris (34:45)
You know, la, e, yo, yeah. I'm just saying, I was really trying to correlate with what you were saying. That's really what I was, I'm just saying, y'all. I was really trying to give an example.
Shaunita (34:49)
Where is my fave? Yes.
Syedah (34:59)
Ayo!
Shaunita (35:01)
That's true.
That's true. even like, no, that's for real. That's how you literally, that song teaches you your vows when you're little. you don't know any better, that's because you don't know what they're saying when you're little. So you literally just say your vows and it's the same.
Syedah (35:02)
My vowels?
Parris (35:05)
That's how I my vows.
You don't know those hymns
until you go through life and then you hear it again and you be like, now I know these words. It just magically comes. Yeah. You okay over there?
Shaunita (35:26)
Exactly, I get it now.
You
Syedah (35:36)
You wow for that, I'm crying. A-E-I-O-U is crazy. But you know, I'll let you have it, you're not wrong. That is what granny be singing for sure. Shout out to granny boo.
Shaunita (35:39)
That's crazy.
Parris (35:43)
Yes, yes.
and then enjoy.
Shaunita (35:52)
That's
absolutely shout out to granny, but that's also Auntie Vi's that's her favorite him so Yeah, you ain't never seen that baby Absolutely
Parris (35:58)
Leave my mama out of it. Leave my mama out of it. We got to put her on here. Yes, that's what she knew. The
Syedah (35:59)
A-E-I-O-U?
Period. Period.
Parris (36:09)
sad part
is, right before you go into that, they tell you what you about to say, but you don't say it.
Shaunita (36:16)
And then, you still...
Absolutely. They literally give you the line that they are about to say.
Parris (36:21)
Yeah, I love the Lord, he heard my cry.
Love. But see, I thought they were saying, I didn't know. Like I didn't know. You know. Yeah. Matter of fact, I'm going give them old handbooks and we're going to talk about it on next Jesus corner. Yeah, we're going to we're going to do that. A real good time in the Church of the Lord. All right, let's go ahead. We're going to go ahead and end right here.
Shaunita (36:34)
Like you literally don't know. You missed this, Ty. You missed these years.
Syedah (36:36)
My God, Jesus.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
Shaunita (36:43)
this.
Absolutely, because that was they used to be a good time.
Syedah (36:50)
Okay.
Okay.
Amen.
Parris (37:01)
