What if your season of waiting is actually a setup for something greater? In this episode, I open up about a personal story—how God came through with college scholarships for my son right when we needed it most. It’s a powerful reminder that God's timing is perfect, even when it feels like He’s late.

Together, we’ll explore:

✨ Three powerful things God wants to do in your life while you wait
✨ How Jesus’ delay with Lazarus revealed His deep compassion and purpose
✨ Why emotional struggles in waiting don’t disqualify your faith
✨ How delays can make room for miracles that go beyond your expectations
✨ The way your waiting testimony can inspire faith in others
✨ Why waiting is actually an act of God’s love—not His absence

This is a hope-filled reminder that you're not alone in the pause. God is active, loving, and writing a story far better than we could imagine.

🌿 Let’s keep the conversation going! Head over to Instagram and share what God has taught you in your seasons of waiting. I’ll feature some of your beautiful stories in next week’s episode!

College Decision Waiting Game

Speaker 1

Hey , welcome to episode 13 . This is called the Weight Is Not Wasted God's Three Purposes in the Pause . Although I believe there are many purposes that God makes us wait , I'm just going to give three as I pull from a biblical story today . Cs Lewis once said , I am sure , that God keeps no one waiting unless he sees that it is good for him to wait . Waiting is hard , I know , for all of you moms with littles . You're not in this life stage , but you will be someday , god willing . But right now I have a senior who has been in the middle of choosing a college . It has been more stressful than I thought it was going to be , not just because I want him to be happy with the school that he chooses and I want him to go to the school God wants him to go to . And then , of course , all of the normal . I'm like so sad if he goes away , kind of a thing I am just not feeling ready for that . That's probably a whole nother episode , but for now I want to talk about . This relates to waiting , because God literally made us wait to know what college he was going to choose until the day before the big college decision day , which is May 1st . So if you don't have a kid who's close to college , just know , in May there's actually a deadline where they have to choose what school they're going to go to . So maybe this will help someone else out there in the future , because I really feel like with your oldest kid , like you're just winging it . We don't know what we're doing with our oldest child half the time , and so there is a deadline and my son did not choose until the night before .

Speaker 1

The real holdup for us and for him was the school he really , really wanted to go to , and the school actually that we felt God was calling him to was just way out of our budget . I'll just be completely real with you Without scholarships the school was just not happening and he had got academic scholarships but it just wasn't enough . Then he got offered a track scholarship and it just still wasn't enough . So we were feeling down about it , and I know my son was feeling down about it . On the same token , he had another backup school that he loved and he would have been fine going there , but something in our spirit just felt like this is not where he's supposed to be . I had actually said to my husband a couple of days before . It's so weird . I know that we don't have the funds to send him there , but that's just . This is the school I see him at . I just feel like this is where God wants him to be , and my husband agreed with me . He's like you know . At the end of the day , I think he's going to end up at this school . I don't see how it's going to happen , but that's what's going to happen . Two days before signing for colleges , he got an email and with an additional grant from the school , and the day after that , the day before signing , he got a phone call from the track coaches offering him an even bigger track scholarship .

God Makes A Way

Speaker 1

God made a way where there was no way for him to go to this college . We believe this is a hundred percent God and a hundred percent miracle . Why did God make us wait till the day before signing to show us that he was going to make a way ? There's a mistake sometimes in our thinking . When God makes us wait , I make all the time is I mistake God allowing us to wait for indifference ? What I mean by that is sometimes we think that God doesn't intervene in a situation right away because it doesn't really matter to him . The situation is not important enough for him to jump in . But I just want to plant a seed of truth into our hearts today that just because God doesn't intervene in a situation right away , it doesn't mean he doesn't care . It actually means he's in love with us , and I'm going to demonstrate this by reading from John 11 .

Speaker 1

There's a story about a guy named Lazarus . So the sister sent word to Jesus . Lord , the one you love is sick . When he heard this , Jesus said this sickness will not end in death . No , it is for God's glory , so that God's son may be glorified through it . Now , jesus loved Mary and her sister and Lazarus . So when he heard that Lazarus was sick , he stayed where he was two more days . I just want to point this out to you . It says here now , jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus . So he waited two more days and Lazarus

The Story of Lazarus

Speaker 1

dies .

Speaker 1

This is my take on this . When you love someone , you want to be known by them , right ? There were things that Mary and Martha couldn't have known about God if he didn't make them wait . What are those things ? And listen , I encourage you to read all of John 11 , but I'm just going to summarize for you , for the sake of this podcast , what are the things that God wanted Martha and Mary to know about him ? Number one I believe he wanted them to know that he's a God who cried with them .

Speaker 1

The Bible only records Jesus crying three times in scripture and this is one of them . In John 11 , 32 , it says when Mary reached the place where Jesus saw him , she fell at his feet and said Lord , if you had been here , my brother would not have died . When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping , he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled . Jesus wept . Then the Jews said See how he loved him . Everyone around witnessing this could see the love of Jesus for his people . In this moment , when we're waiting , there might be some discomfort or some mourning going on , even though Jesus knows hope is there . Even though Jesus in this instant knew he was about to raise Lazarus from the dead and they would all be happy , he didn't ignore the emotions they were feeling . He met them in that moment and he was deeply troubled and his spirit was deeply moved . This is our God . This is how he relates to us . Because of that

God Who Weeps With Us

Speaker 1

, we can say see how he loves me .

Speaker 1

The second thing that happens when God makes us wait is we see that he leaves room for miracles , not only for us to witness but for us to be a part of . In John 39 and 40 , it says Jesus once more , deeply moved , came to the tomb . It was a cave with a stone that across the entrance . Take away the stone , he said . And then , in John 11 , 43 , jesus calls out in a loud voice and he says Lazarus , come out . And it says the dead man came out , his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen and cloth around his face . Jesus said to them take off the grave clothes and let him go . So not only did they get to see their friend raised from the dead a miracle Jesus says I want you to be a part of it . Go , take off his grave clothes so he can walk . They're going to be things that are holding down the spirits of your children right now , because they're waiting on an answer . Maybe they're waiting on an answer . Maybe they're waiting for a test to come . Maybe they're waiting to see if they got in a certain sports team or , for us , if they're going to be able to go to their dream college .

Speaker 1

If you model a posture of having faith that we know that God is going to do a wonderful , amazing work , even when we can't see it , I believe that will translate into miracles in the lives of the people around us . And the third thing that I believe God wanted to show Mary and Martha about himself , and that he wants us to know about himself

Room For Miracles

Speaker 1

while we wait , is that everything he does is to draw people to himself . People believed in Jesus . Because of what happened in this story , I truly believe that if God is asking us to wait on something , it's because he's also waiting for someone to believe in who he is .

Speaker 1

It's actually pretty interesting in this story in John , because he waits two days to go back , lazarus dies and his disciples , before they start heading back , they say to him hey , you know what ? Maybe Lazarus is just sleeping , maybe he's going to get better . But it's funny because in John 11 , 14 , jesus answers them plainly . He says Lazarus is dead and for your sake , I'm glad I was not there so that you may believe , but let's go get him . Jesus is saying here I'm glad I wasn't there , I'm glad in essence that he died , because now you're going to believe in me . That is always the heart of Jesus , always a missional heart .

Speaker 1

If you really can't see why God is asking you to wait which normally we can't because we're not God and we don't have eternal perspective rest in the fact that God is after somebody's heart . God is after somebody to believe in him , to save somebody through your life and through your circumstance , not just you . It's never just about you . It's never just about your kid Although I will say it could be your kid that God is waiting for you know what ?

Speaker 1

One of the first things I did the minute I heard that Eli was getting all these scholarships at the last minute is I texted people that I knew , that I

Drawing People To Himself

Speaker 1

knew were praying for him , that I knew were rooting for him , and I let them know what happened . All I wanted to do was testify of the goodness of God . I wanted people to see how he had worked in his life . It's exciting to live a life of faith . If he didn't have to wait on God for the provision , the way God asked him to , maybe we would have said we got there in our own power , but because of the way this all came down in our own power , but because of the way this all came down . We fully recognize this was the work of God .

Speaker 1

So one thing I'm going to say as I wrap this up is , if you're waiting , or your child is waiting , really try to like hone in with them and say , hey , you know what ? Three things can happen while we wait . Number one it's always because God loves us . God wants to show that he is enough . God can be your defender , your comforter , your provider , your advocate , whatever you need in this unknown . That is what his name will be . That's what he was for Martha and Mary . He was their comforter and he was their friend . The second thing you can remind your children about and yourself is that we worship a God of miracles and that miracles are going to come , and sometimes they may be things that don't seem like miracles to others but , like in our case , the miracle was a phone call from a track coach . I a hundred percent believe that God was working in that and I a hundred percent believe that he met my son and met us in all of the emotions we were feeling before that miracle came . And the third thing you can remind your children and yourself that happened while we wait is that others are going to see God because of your life and because of your faith , and when you're in love with Jesus and when you were living for his kingdom . There's

Purpose In The Waiting

Speaker 1

nothing sweeter than that . There's nothing more exciting than that .

Speaker 1

I'm going to be posting a question again on my Instagram , like I did a couple of weeks ago , and I want to do it again because last time I did this , so many moms shared and were encouraged by one another and I just loved it . So I'm doing it again . So here's the question you can find on Instagram this week what is one thing God showed you about himself while you were in a season of waiting ? So hop on there this week . Answer that question . Believe me , other moms are reading , other moms are getting encouraged .
