We’re kicking off Season 2 of the Real Moms, Real Faith Podcast with a conversation that has been heavy on my heart. This week, as evil seems loud and darkness presses in, I believe God is calling us as moms to pray boldly for our families. The very first prayer? That we would be filled with the fullness of His love.

Welcome back to the Real Moms , real Faith Podcast After a break over the summer . Thank you for being here , because I know you don't have to be and you're choosing to be , so I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart . It has been an icky , disgusting week with the violence that has been going on in our country . I would like to start off by saying that this is not a political podcast . This is a podcast for real moms who have real faith , who have real kids , who are watching what is going on in the world and coming to them with questions , and I hope that this podcast can equip us a little bit together to figure out how to approach these things with our children in a way that is biblical and beautiful and powerful and that will actually change future

Paul's Transformation from Persecutor

generations . That is my heart in this podcast . That is my heart in this episode , especially when it feels like evil is winning the war and the enemy would like us to believe that that is true . I believe with deep conviction in my heart that God is asking each mother listening today to commit to praying two things for our family , for ourselves , for our rising generation . Number one I do believe the Lord is asking us to be filled with the measure of the fullness of God's love . This is a prayer that comes from Paul when he's writing the church in Ephesians , and I'm going to read you the scripture here in a moment . But first I want us to remember who is Paul . Well , paul was originally called Saul , and you'll remember him if you have read the Bible , and if you haven't , that's okay , I am so glad you are here .

Saul is a man who , in his own words , was out to destroy the church . You can look that up in Acts 3 . In Philippians , he says he went house to house dragging off both men and women and put them into prison . He describes himself as a persecutor of the church . He says he's unworthy to be called an apostle because of this persecution . He said he was convinced that he ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus , nazareth . This is who Saul is . This is who Paul is . He changes his name later . He used to go from church to church . He called it a synagogue , one after another punishing people who would declare Christ . He says in his own words he was so obsessed with persecuting them that he even hunted them down in foreign cities .

This is who this guy is before he found Jesus and the way that he finds Jesus is actually . While he's traveling to go persecute the church in Damascus , he was struck on the road with a blinding light . He says it was brighter than the sun . And he falls to the ground and he hears a voice that says in Aramaic Saul , saul , why do you persecute me ? And he asks him who are you , lord ? And he replies I am Jesus , whom you are persecuting . After this , there's a man of God named Ananias that prays over Saul . He places his hands over his eyes because he has been blinded by

The Fullness of God's Love

the light and as he prays , something like scales fall off of Saul's eyes and he could see again . Talk about amazing grace . How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like Paul . He was literally blind and now he could see a murderer , a doubter full of hate , and Jesus goes to great lengths to meet him on a road , a path he was taking to go destroy the people that loved him .

He's writing this new church in Ephesus , these new believers , and he is very adamant that they must , at the very ground level of their faith , grasp how radical God's love is for them . This is in Ephesians 3 , 17 . He says , and I pray that you , being rooted and established in love , may have power , together with all the Lord's holy people , to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge , that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God , and this phrase here be filled to the measure . It's a continual filling , it's not a one-time thing . Oh , yes , I believe in Jesus . Fill me up with your love once we're done . No , no , it's an a continual filling , it's not a one-time thing . Oh , yes , I believe in Jesus , fill me up with your love once we're done . No , no , it's an everyday , continual filling , filling up of God's love , and this is his prayer for the church .

There is a reason that he narrows in on this and I believe that part of that reason is Paul knew persecution was not over . Paul knew because he used to be that person who hated these believers . There was a lot coming at them and if they could not get this basic understanding down , they would have little hope , especially not only to survive persecution but to look like Jesus . There was love that looked at him as a murderer and said I still have hope for you . It was love that made Jesus on the cross look at the man who was literally putting nails in his hands and said forgive them , father . He doesn't know what he's doing . And that can only happen from God . That cannot come from earthly love , that cannot come from the world's definition of what love is . That can only come from a biblical , bodily definition of love , and it's not just a definition of love love is . That can only come from a biblical , godly definition of love , and it's not just a definition of love , it is a demonstration of love . God doesn't define love , he demonstrates his love , for God so loved the world , he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life . It is sin and hate that nailed him to a cross , but it is his love that kept

Understanding True Biblical Love

him there , a love that is wide and long and high and deep . It can hold a lot right .

When the news showed the profile of who assassined Charlie Kirk , it was a 22-year-old and the first thing my husband said to me was that is so sad Because , ladies , we have an 18-year-old , 17 year old and almost 16 year old and a six year old . How can someone so young get filled with so much hate ? And I got to tell you , as a mom , looking at this young man , all I kept thinking is well , don't you know there is a God that loves you ? If you are that filled with hate that tells me that you have no idea the love that God has for you and that should break our hearts . I know people feel . I know we also feel righteous anger and all the things . I'm not saying that we don't , but there should be a part of us , a big part of us , that looks on this young man with the eyes of Jesus and says oh , if only you knew .

And that's one of the reasons I want to pray this over my children , because I want them to know when is the last time you prayed God . Fill me to the fullness of your love . Fill my children with the fullness of your love . Fill my home with the fullness of your love . I know I have prayed things to God . God , give my children wisdom , give them patience , give me the right words . But I want to see what happens this year if I shift my language and my prayers for myself and for my children and for this generation , and be very specific . Fill me with the fullness of your love , because there's a lot to carry in this world and there's nothing in our own strength outside the love of God that can carry it . Only love can carry the weight of my worry that I have if my child is sick . Only love can carry the grief of losing a loved one . Only love can carry the tension when our spirits cry out to Abba , father , when things don't make sense in this world . Only love can carry righteous anger . Love can carry a lot of things . It's deep and high and wide right , and it can even carry a cross , and it did carry a cross , but it will not carry hate .

Sometimes we forget what God's love really is , don't we ? Sometimes we just throw it around . Oh , I hope you're filled with the love of God . Oh , god loves you . What does that even mean ? I think we just talk about it so much that it's lost the weight .

The Bible tells us that love fulfills the law , everything is built upon it and everything depends on it . So what is God's love ? When we pray to be filled with the fullness of God's love , what are we asking for on a daily basis ? And the answer is transformation . For on a daily basis , and the answer is transformation , it will change us . Let me read to you a verse that I'm sure you have heard hundreds of times . But please , I just pray , lord , lord , I just pray right now that we hear this verse with fresh ears . I pray , lord , that you open our hearts to receive this message the way it was intended to be received , that we really take in each aspect of your love and understand how radical it is and how it's upside down from what the world tells us .

Love is First Corinthians 13, . If I speak in tongues of men and angels but do not have love , I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal . If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge , and if I have faith that can move mountains but do not have love , I am nothing . If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardships that I may boast . Do I not have love ? I gain nothing .

Love is patient , love is kind , it does not envy , it does not boast , it is not proud , it does not dishonor others , it is not self-seeking , it is not easily angered . It keeps no record of wrongs . Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth . It always protects , always trusts , always hopes , always perseveres . Love never fails . What if

Praying for Our Families

you pray to be filled with this kind of love every day of your life ? What if you prayed that this kind of love was full in your house and overflowing out of your windows and your doors and out of your mouths and out of your hearts of your children ? What if we prayed for this kind of love in our life ? Lord , fill us to the fullness of your love and mean it .

This year I'm honored to have the privilege to speak and proclaim Christ into this microphone from the safety and the freedom of my home , and I do not take that for granted , and I love that . There are a million ways that we can battle against the enemy in this world and we could go over a lot of them . We could have a whole podcast on shielding eyes , what to let your kids watch , of course , reading God's word . What to let in and out , what music to listen to . There are a ton of things practical , beautiful things that we can do to wage war against the enemy and against evil that we can talk about Today . I'm just starting basic with the first , with the two most important commandments from Jesus . We start with what held him on the cross and we'll go from there .
