Uber Driving Challenges
Speaker 1And we are back with another episode of Two for the Culture. I'm Justin Devante, I'm Steven Wright and we are back. How you doing, man.
Speaker 2Doing good, doing good, doing good.
Speaker 1That's great to hear.
Speaker 2What about you?
Speaker 1I'm doing good. Had a pretty I wouldn't say busy weekend. Got my car back expensive. Yeah, yeah, expenses car expenses. You know doing Uber and making your car your business. You got my car back expensive. Yeah, yeah, expenses for car expensive. You know doing your, uh, doing uber and making your car your business. You know it's essential you gotta make sure it's done right I didn't think about that.
Speaker 2Actually, now that you said that, like you're literally paving the way to put maintenance in your path, oh yeah, for sure, yeah, exactly that's like you know it comes with it exactly, I mean.
Speaker 1But that's like you know. If you're renting out a home, yeah, there's little things that you probably like. If you're the homeowner, like man, I'm gonna wait to get that fixed, but if you're uh, then the roof falls in no no, no, if you're, whoever you're uh, leasing out your or renting out your home to, they may be quick like hey, I want this little thing fixed. Yeah.
Speaker 1So it's important for you to get it fixed, because then it's, it's going to become a problem, um, and they're, you know, more complaints, um bad reviews or whatever have you yeah, the business in general exactly, so you don't want to um, and the longer you take to get something fixed, the longer you don't make, uh, the less money you make yeah, right or the longer you don't make money. So, um, so it's important, um, you know, and you can't. Apparently you can't get joe schmoe to do it either, because either because that may have been one of my problems as well.
Speaker 2What do you mean?
Speaker 1Joe Schmo and something's not done correctly, and then it leads into a bigger problem.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, you and your passenger stuck on the highway.
Speaker 1No, I was just saying like, yeah, yeah, something wasn't done right previously.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, I get it.
Speaker 1Trying to skip on the expense, and then it became a bigger problem.
Speaker 2I wonder if that does happen, that people's cars break down while someone is in the car. Yeah, absolutely Like on the way to the airport. Yeah, absolutely, that'll be fucked.
Speaker 1Yeah, that happens. Yeah, so that's why people do like blacks and things like that. You know, just feeling more comfort right on the road yeah yeah, when I was in dc, some another guy, uh, was reversing and didn't see our guy and hit our car, yeah, and so that was a whole thing, yeah, and so we had you just get order another uber and they come and pick you up oh, okay, okay okay, yeah, yeah yeah, I remember one time when I was ubering years back, uh, my gas it was low and I just I just picked, I just picked up this white woman from the airport and I could tell when I saw that, because I thought it was going to be like a certain amount of I was really praying.
Speaker 2I was really praying that because I was already in line at the uh at the airport and I didn't want to get out of line because I was like one of the next people. And then she came and then her ride was long. I was like, damn, like I'm gonna need gas. And then, as soon as she got in, and when I finally had the courage, I had to say it because the exit was right there. So I was like, uh, I need gas for a second. So like it's not gonna take too much time, just okay, like I knew I was gonna get a barrier oh yeah, I've had some, like I was the one time I well, I went to Alabama for a trip.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1From the airport I was like, hey, yeah, this is a longer trip Than what I expected. Uh, huh. This is before they gave you the ride of how Long it was gonna be. They just said 45 minutes plus. Uh huh, yeah, yeah, you didn't know which direction you was going.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, I didn't have that when I was over.
Speaker 1Yeah yeah, yeah, so, yeah, exactly so the guy was like yeah, I'm going to need gas to drive you all the way down to Alabama.
Speaker 2Oh, okay.
Speaker 1Yeah, so it's like an hour and something. Yeah, I'm going to get gas real quick to make sure I have enough, and then people are more than chill. I don't know why she found that as an issue. I mean it issue.
Speaker 2I mean it was my fault, okay, okay. Yeah, it was low enough to where, like, I was winging it. Oh okay, I was hoping that. You know, I I was just putting more. So the pressure of being in line at the airport because it's like the line is like you're parking your car in atlanta. It's like you're parking your car with a slew of other air I mean not air bb, uh uber drivers it's like an entire parking lot field, so it's like you're in a queue yeah, exactly, yeah yeah, uh-huh, and I was, uh.
Speaker 2Yeah, I was there for a long time and then it finally came to my number and then I'm like man, hopefully, but no, it was, it was a little bit out the way. I just would have been winging it and I ain't want that shit to come to the point, because you don't know, with the Atlanta traffic, atlanta traffic is different from LA or anywhere else. The traffic stops, it's a complete stop. It's not slow. Sometimes it'll be a absolute stop.
Speaker 1It's ridiculous, why do?
Speaker 2you think that is? Uh, everybody gets off at the same time. You know it's the same thing that any rules. I don't know, man, but I know it uh, yeah, my whole time uber and in atlanta that would fucking stop, bro, it was so annoying.
Speaker 1And how long are you stopping Because? I've been in Atlanta several times. That's never happened like to where you just got.
Speaker 2You've never been in like traffic.
Speaker 1No, I've been in traffic, of course.
Speaker 2I'm saying like the 5 o'clock, yeah, I'm saying, but it's never absolute, like unless there's a car accident ahead. Well, maybe because I drove Uber that I just had many chances for something like that to happen. That is the overall thing that I'm saying, but it would happen a lot.
Speaker 1And I've noticed with Atlanta, they're not good with signs Like if you're going down a ramp and that ramp leads to like coming on to that interstate and you're in that lane, it doesn't let you know. Like to yield? Yeah to yield, because you're entering another person's lane where you're going into the highway.
Speaker 2Yeah, like around downtown it gets tricky.
Speaker 1Yeah, and I was like damn, I very much enter somebody's lane. I'm glad it's like 12 o'clock at night.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, no, no, no. It gets really tricky, especially if you aren't familiar with the area and all that. Yeah, you could literally have to circle around.
Speaker 1It's ridiculous yeah, well then you got GPS so that they go in the right way. Wasn't issue it just like signal sending, signaling when, like because sometimes you'll have your own lane, then you've got a drift or the other yep, yeah, that's coming on yeah that's freaking.
Speaker 1But sometimes I'm going on an interstate and that lane leads actually into the whole highway, so I don't have. But sometimes I'm going on an interstate and that lane leads actually into the whole highway, so I don't have my own shit. I'm entering somebody's and I was like I should. Actually there should be a yield sign here.
Speaker 2Yeah, and.
Speaker 1I saw that way more times than I was like damn people can easily, you know.
Speaker 2Oh, there's wrecks all the time.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2All the time.
Speaker 1It. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Yeah, yeah, let's go on and get into it. Yeah, that's what I was like. Yeah, there's a lot of little things on social media. Yes, did you see the Kevin Gates thing with LeBron James?
Speaker 2Yeah, he said that he wanted better for LeBron. Yeah.
Speaker 1Like he was talking about. When LeBron and savannah do the handshake, she ain't really into it, but when he's on the court, the white women be in all him.
Speaker 2He's like that's what I want you know yeah yeah, my girl gotta be in awe of me yeah, I mean, yeah, I, I understand that's too funny. He don't give a for real, but I I saw it when he dropped that video. Like, and I don't even, I don't even be scrolling that much anymore but I was on Instagram and I said that shit, said like one two minutes ago and I'm like that man said some crazy shit in this video.
Speaker 1I didn't really feel like it was crazy, though.
Atlanta Traffic Nightmares
Speaker 2I mean to avoid. It wasn't crazy in terms of like, was it true or not? I got where he was going with it. But I'm just saying just to verbally speak that out there, and you're a person of a certain type of caliber, that shit is going to go everywhere.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1So it's going to go directly to Savannah? Yeah, absolutely, kevin Gates is a celebrity.
Speaker 2Yeah, so I just remember, when he dropped it I was like okay, and then, literally like 20 minutes later he's just on all these different he's posted over and over and over again saying the same stuff. So I got what he was saying. You know it just like damn, like kind of I'm sure it ruffled some type of feathers. And then, uh, lebron, he posted and he was like I don't what is it?
Speaker 1yeah, a lion. Doesn't uh worry about the opinions of a peasant, yeah right yeah with his. Yeah, that one I that was for his queen, because I wouldn't have felt like LeBron is a high caliber celebrity to where he could pretend like he didn't see that, because one, I mean one. I didn't know that Kevin Gates said it until I saw LeBron's post and people was talking about yeah, yeah, so I'm not engaged on social media, like I don't follow. Follow the ball or it's a shade room.
Speaker 2I'm assuming that's who posted but it was plenty of people yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1so I didn't know that until I saw that and I was like, oh, I that, but I didn't know that came from somewhere. I thought he because he, you know, he has a lion symbol, so I thought he was just kind of saying that as a regular post. But then that's when I was on YouTube and was like oh, lebron responds to Kevin Gates. And when I listened to Kevin Gates' comments he's like I love LeBron.
Speaker 2Yeah, he kept saying it.
Speaker 1Yeah, and he was just did you see what he said after yeah, yeah. Coffee spelled backwards is e, yeah, yeah, I don't give.
Speaker 3E yeah, yeah until I get my coffee, but um yeah he was just saying he was funny.
Speaker 2Yeah, he was like. You know it's easter, you know what that means? A lot of bunnies hopping around like bruh, this man and he said know the truth hurts but it heals.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, I think I love how he I didn't mind If he wasn't a celebrity, it would have been better, like it would have been cooler. I can guess I can get it, because he's like you know, kind of somewhat he's not out of the aisle on not a peasant right. Yeah, yeah, well, I don't know why, LeBron say that?
Speaker 3well, because it disturbed his.
Speaker 1Queen yes, he's saying that, it's the Queen dope, I mean. And she shouldn't see him how the white women do, because she knows him, she, she smelled his shit before yeah yeah, yeah, it sees him at his lows. See, he. They've had yelling arguments, screaming at each other. There's a different level. Y'all don't see the insight that she sees on lebron they've been together since there was an high school he probably you know she saw the worst of him, so she ain't gonna see him like they, the people who idolize him.
Speaker 1Of course not that's so that's where I disagree with kevin gates yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2How can he yeah?
Speaker 1how can he, how could she ever see him, like they do, because they don't know the real him absolutely so.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's that's what I was thinking about when he said that. I was like, damn, you know it's. I mean, I get what you're saying. But also, like bruh, like she knows him, knows him, and she probably is definitely celebrating this man thing he's the best and all this type of sheets. She's been there. What are we even talking about? For the?
Speaker 1thing I do agree about, kevin Gates sometimes you do need to remind it is that these women do want your place oh yeah, don't get it confused. Yeah, so there's a level of truth to it, to where and and there also may be a thing, there may be a world to where she ain't on top of her game, like she may be. There's a level of truth to it uh-huh yeah, yeah, yeah, so, yeah, and he, so I. I don't know the handshakes that they do and I don't see the energy around it.
Speaker 2I haven't even really seen anything.
Speaker 1So I don't know what he sees. So there's a level of where Kevin Gates could be right, but there's also another part of it to where Kevin Gates doesn't sound like he's considering is that she knows him well, better than probably his mama you know, has been there, has been through everything so there could be a truth. I see both sides of it for sure. I definitely see that uh-huh, but yes, but if I was LeBron James, I wouldn't have it's playoff time. Bro, you got more on your mind than letting that get you.
Kevin Gates vs. LeBron Drama
Speaker 2I would have really not even thought about it, because that's here today, gone tomorrow, yeah, I still think it's different when you're in it, though that is actually his piece in a way, after he comes from practice and all that type of shit, and he gets home where his piece is supposed to be.
Speaker 1That shit is a little bit rattled, or probably was yeah, but it's gonna be rattled regardless if you respond or not. Now is it unrattled at this point?
Speaker 2that's what I'm saying. I don't know, but I just assume that it did something to the peace in the home yeah, but I'm just saying a hit dog will holler.
Speaker 1So if it's rattled responding, ankle unrattle it. She's still gonna have that in the back of her mind whether you responded or not yeah, I think I just wished for a better response, or none at all yeah yeah, cuz it's kind of like Kevin Gage ain't just nobody, you know what I'm saying, and that's what he was saying in the video too.
Speaker 2He was like I'm not a peasant, but I'm just like right.
Speaker 1But he knows Kevin Gates very much understood that he had to respond. Obviously he ain't no peasant because you still considering his opinion so you can't say I don't worry about people's opinion, but you respond to the opinion you said. You say that to the house. That's why I'm saying, yeah, yeah, you say that's his van is like yeah, he's a peasant. Why am I worried about his opinion so pretty much that you know that?
Speaker 1you did respond the uh. The saying comes from uh gamer thrones and the saying is when uh the father lannister, um, he said the lions don't worry about the opinions of sheep oh yeah, like you're a lion, you, that's your prey. Why do you care how they feel? Right yeah, yeah, yeah. So he said that with his family. He doesn't say that to the sheep. He said that like why are you caring about these peasants Opinions? So you say that Amongst the houses, like why do you care, it's whatever.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1We know what we got.
Speaker 2Yeah, the response could've been better.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, I just would've, or none at all yeah, for sure, you could just Post your queen, like I.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, you could've just posted her.
Speaker 1The luckiest man in the world. Yeah, you could have just posted her. Y'all may think I got it all. I mean I don't deserve you. You know what I mean? Yeah, and just be like I don't deserve you.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1Or something, and just praising your queen. That's really all you had to do, which he does.
Speaker 2Yeah, he does it all the time. So that's why I was like oh yeah, there's just a little hiccup in the culture.
Speaker 1But Kevin Gates, you know well what can you expect. You know it's like this.
Speaker 2You don't know what that man goes like I don't know, but it's, it's funny to see, like. Well, I don't know if the word is funny, I don't know, it's some sort of, some sort of feeling that I have just seeing them together. I only I don't know if it's enlightenment or what. What do you mean? It's just cool, like she clearly wanted him, like from seeing him at the thing she clearly wanted this nigga and now she's wrapped up in turbans next to him and I don't know if it's a turban, is it?
Speaker 2um, she wrapped up yeah, she wrapped up next to him, not saying that he did that, I think she was muslim before then? Yeah, I think so uh-huh so uh, but it's just, it's just, it's cool to see that. I don't know why it's cool to see it for me, but it's, it's just funny you know like he'll say something, and then you could just hear her laughing in the background every time. So, uh, that's cool. I think they got a cool little thing going on right.
Speaker 2I'm very much happy for the relationship yeah, it sounds like it's very fun, very I don't know, I don't know what it is think you know it sounds like they're enjoying each other's time and they're good for each other at this moment.
Speaker 1From outside looking in.
Speaker 3Now.
Speaker 1I don't you know what I mean. I don't see much of it.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1So I have the smallest view of it.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1But outside, looking in, you know I'm happy, you know she found somebody that she loves because I know she was, you know very much miserable in it. Like in being single, and how she even though she did a lot Once you put a book out to the world about the relationships you've been in you.
Speaker 1Now you have the title of being a hoe. Yeah, because I didn't know she. You know she had that type of title until the book. Yeah, I just know she dated a couple people. But Lori Harvey, yeah, laurie harvey has I've seen more her delayed slip date, more celebrities and that whole title isn't attached to her because it's kind of sophisticated yeah yeah, yes, so I'm.
Speaker 1I'm saying that there's. There's a movement with grace, but all I knew of britney renner was that she dated celebrities. I didn't know it was um because of you know. Now the book's told it all yeah, it was a. Jalal book. So she did it to herself, but I'm glad she was able to come through the light. It seems like yeah yeah.
Speaker 2So it all worked out in the end. Yeah, it seems like she's doing. I mean she's clearly. She seems happy from what I see. Did you hear about Kanye?
Speaker 1What about him? No, I didn't hear.
Speaker 2Well, we'll be looking at it on time Okay good, Come on phone. Did you have something else?
Speaker 1Yeah, so there's also the Shannon Sharp thing.
Speaker 2Oh yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah. So he got hit with a lawsuit by the lawyer who's representing the plaintiff. It's like Gabrielle or something, and she is claiming rape and she wanted like either like between $30 or $50 million from him $30 or $50 million. Yeah, exactly yeah. 30 or 50 million dollars from him. 30 or 50 million dollars? Yeah, exactly yeah. Um, it was tony. Busby is also the guy who represented another person who uh tried to sue jay-z.
Speaker 1It was one that they dropped dropped the uh the lawsuit because it just seems frivolous yeah um, and this seems like another one, because he dated this woman for a while and she was like you know he's talking about times where he said you alleged that I'm gonna kill you type of thing or you know, forcing her to do certain things. Rape was a extreme word that was used and um, and then he responded to it. It was like, uh, every you know, she tried to blackmail him and, um, she recorded that tape them having sex but edited to where it seemed forceful in a way and of course she did it. She did it beforehand to incite him during sex to say certain things. Is what I was understanding how his um, what he was responding to the situation, like, hey, she tried to blackmail me, and then this is in the recording she sent my lawyer was heavy edited.
Speaker 1We tried to get the real, the original. She did not give me the original is she water? Black. Uh, she seems uh latino what, but then that's based on her name. I tried to google what she looked like, but there's a couple people that pop up so I didn't want to attach the picture to her, but the name seemed very uh foreign.
Speaker 2Yeah yes, it's just like I didn't know that he was dating her yeah, I mean they had very a lot of sexual encounters.
Shannon Sharpe Lawsuit Discussion
Speaker 1Yeah, they was tight. Yeah, because he had sent, uh, text messages like, hey, this was the type of relationship we had. And she was like I want some of your black babies, I want to put my tongue in your asshole that's what she said yeah, yeah, yeah, asshole, that's what she said. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like just a bunch of wild stuff like to where it's like yeah, if I'm raping her.
Speaker 1Why is she responding? This to me yeah yeah, yeah, what the fuck? So, yeah, so he's, he's very much outing himself, and this is the situation where it scares me when you, when we're in a highly sexual world, to where this is where we land when we make simple acts mm-hmm yeah, I don't know if it's just me when I think about like dang. It just shows how real the Bible is and why you probably should sustain from sex with into your wife or husband I mean I'm sure it has something to do with it.
Speaker 1I know I'm probably going well, it's the bible, but and that's the extreme side of things yeah, but that's just kind of how like land is, like bruh. This is just come attached to it you know, when, when you have, uh, sexual intercourse with somebody who's not and of course it can happen. You know your wife can make lies, but at least y'all are one. And this is y'all came together Mm-hmm. But you know when, cause this is not his first time dealing with you know, sexual yeah, he he's had a sexual assault allegations before.
Speaker 2Oh no, no allegations before. Oh, and then he also had that video you know, was it earlier this year.
Speaker 1What is this? An instagram, yeah, but nonetheless that's embarrassing too, yeah, I'm just saying yeah, it's, yeah, it's a show your shoulder, it's not a lawsuit yeah of course, but it's damaging to your reputation. Yeah, yeah like it's already that damaging, I mean. Uh, so do you think that if you was, say, if you had, um, you accidentally filmed yourself having sex, you put it on your gram that? You don't think that's damaging at all to you, to your brand I'm just going off of what I saw from him.
Speaker 1I'm asking uh for me, yeah um, I'm I mean the.
Speaker 2The quick answer would be I think so.
Speaker 1Yeah, of course.
Speaker 2It would do something, but the way that went it didn't seem like it fucked anything up for real.
Speaker 1I mean.
Speaker 2It seemed like it was like well, should we do something.
Speaker 1Yeah, but that does damage your brand, because that's what you're also remembered by. And not only that. That's embarrassing, that's embarrassing to your family, yeah you have. You have kids that are in in their 30s picture. You coming out with a sex tape and your daughter seeing it. Yeah and her friend seeing it yeah, yeah, yeah it's completely yeah yeah, yeah, yeah right yeah, and your mama seeing it you know, yeah, yeah, all your friends and family. That's extremely embarrassing and very uncomfortable yeah no it's like, yeah, it's, it's damaging.
Speaker 2I guess I was looking more of the business side, like his life, not necessarily the people around him and others that it might affect. I was just thinking about did it really fuck up his deals?
Speaker 1and all that type of stuff. Thank God it didn't. But at the same time he works for Disney. It can.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, he works for ESPN. Yeah, yeah yeah, maybe if his job.
Speaker 2Maybe if his line of work was different, I think it might have. But, because it's like so open and you can talk about whatever here and do that. I think that's the main reason why a lot of stuff wasn't good.
Speaker 1I think that he is a. He's great at his job. It's why it's like, bro, there's risk and reward and you're very much worth. The reward you bring is we'll take on the risk, yeah, yeah. Now, if he was, yeah, yeah, I'm throwing you away. Yeah. But, since he bring. You know, they shot up the charts once he came on for the first time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's. He's a big personality and brings a lot to the program, because now he was with Fox Sports before and after he left, they got rid of the show.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah yeah, undisputed, it's called Undisputed. Yeah, yeah they fired Skip Damn. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was just low-performing, amongst other things, but it was just low performing amongst other things, but it was low performing after he left and then when he goes on the espn it shoots up. Yeah, we'll take on that risk all right this is yeah, yeah, well, yeah, this is another frivolous lawsuit. You need to, you need to slow down, truly, yeah, yeah, you. That's why you know they always talked about, um, the late night, uh, late, uh night cat yeah um, like you need to find somebody.
Speaker 1He really just needs to find somebody which means yeah. So some one woman that you need to be with and you know, commit to, because this is, this is the second time, bro, because I forgot the other girl's name. Uh, my uh michelle, yeah, exactly my michelle, yeah, and this is gabriella, yeah. So yeah, you messing with too many people. You need to slow down and get you one shit um that's just my synopsis.
Speaker 2I don't know what your true thoughts on it I don't, I still don't know about, I still don't know. I'll be back and forth. I'll be back and forth. I think, like my soul Says, like you know, just have one woman. Yeah, my soul definitely says that, like I said, it's like every time shit gets quiet and there's no movement and there's four walls. Said it's like every time she gets quiet, there's no movement and it's four walls and it's just silent. I'm like damn, yeah, like a wife would be like amazing. Like you know, no matter what happens today, tomorrow, no matter what, that you know, I always, in terms of my, my, uh, processing of my, my thoughts and stuff, like anytime it's at like ground zero, it's like, yeah, that that does seem fulfilling. It doesn't seem for me, it doesn't feel like multiple women. It seems more if I, if it was a balance, it seems more fun than fulfilling.
Speaker 1Yeah for sure. I think that also is the thing I like to get to know people for real, like yeah, before we sit down, like I want to actually like you yeah of course that is not going to work every single time, obviously but, that's when it's like I actually know your character yeah, no, for sure yeah yeah, he doesn't. I don't think he knows like girls character, for he doesn't. I don't think he knows late girl's character. Obviously he don't really.
Speaker 1Oh, you don't think so no, I mean, how could you? If he would have saw this coming, he would have never slept with her.
Speaker 2Oh my God, yeah, yeah, yeah, she's a young chick you got to know, how these young chicks move. Which you, which you thought she loved you because you was the nice guy.
Speaker 1I don't think he thinks that, yeah, yeah. My daddy thinks like that no, yeah, I don't know, but they, I'm sure they wasn't friends.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, yeah that that is a big thing, though for me for sure at least like, yeah, I don't see me growing and just wanting women around, just because, like, I need to know who these people are I mean, but he's a very much a freak yeah, clearly you know, I mean, I think that me cutting it short and saying sexually active is what I wanted to say saying sexually active is what I wanted to say but it's bigger than that.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, and he definitely has freaky tendencies. Yeah, yeah, and because this shit, all shit, this shit be dropping in a year.
Speaker 2That is definitely wild. I don't see how he keeps getting caught up in that type of stuff. But speaking of freaks, I did want to see this this. I don't know why my phone didn't update, uh, the the podcast thing I'm gonna type I'm trying to see sinners.
Speaker 2On friday, though, for real thursday, thursday, friday uh shit, I'm trying to find this shit was it the Kanye West joint? Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, I think I'm about to find it now um, do you have a breakdown of what was happening like? It's literally, if I can just play the audio yeah, here it goes.
Speaker 1I think I know which one you're talking about. Uh, no, do you need a?
Speaker 2No, I'll just do it, and this one doesn't have audio.
Speaker 1Okay, can you pretty much say what happened?
Kanye's Controversial Confession
Speaker 2So basically, yeah, you talking about sucking a man's dick. Yeah, his cousin. Yeah, yeah, yeah, did they have like a the lyrics yeah, he basically said when he was 14, yeah, yeah, he said my dad had Playboy magazines, but the magazines I found in the top of my mom's closet were different. And then he said it was two boys kissing, two men kissing, and him and his cousin didn't know what that was or whatever, and then I guess they experimented or something. I didn't read this part. Can you read it?
Speaker 3Do you want me to read it?
Speaker 2He says my name is Ye and I suck my cousin's dick till I was 14.
Speaker 1Till. He was 14?.
Speaker 2He says till I was 14, tweet sent yeah, this is my song called Cousins. So basically he's coming out and he's just saying, like I'm not gay, but like I definitely sucked my cousin's dick when I was 14 and the beat and all that shit definitely was hard.
Speaker 1Oh okay, yeah, it was, it was. It was hard. I mean, that's very vulnerable of yay, but also very gay.
Speaker 2Yeah, but he said he's like I'm definitely not gay, but I, I did I mean, that's a gay act absolutely, I mean that that's the gayest act you could do absolutely
Speaker 2yeah, and he said that uh, maybe that's why he always said that him and diddy were twins I don't know. He said that he said that. He said that. Damn, what was I about to say Basically? Yeah, that he said that he did that with his cousin. Oh yeah, and he said that I guess his cousin thought that he was going to keep it with him to the grave. In my head I'm thinking what is his cousin doing right now?
Speaker 1He got got plenty of cousins maybe, but they're probably, I feel like his whole family knows which one. Yeah, yeah, like, yeah, I'm pretty sure they know what it is. This man is probably like punching the air right now I mean, of course, yeah, I'll be very mad, but he also had a cousin that, um like held a sex tape over his head, or something like that.
Speaker 2That's what I was thinking. Maybe that's the same cousin.
Speaker 1Well then he should. Maybe he, maybe the cousin was actually Trying to get some money for him so he wouldn't come out, and this is a way that he's getting ahead of it. Damn, I don't know, as a 14 year old, that's gay and this is a way that he's getting ahead of it. Damn, I don't know, but that's yeah, that's. I mean as a 14-year-old bro, that's gay. I mean, like I remember me being 14, and we knew what gay was in the ninth grade, ninth grade. Yeah, yeah, you're in high school.
Speaker 1You know that if you suck a man's dick, that's gay.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's pretty, that's pretty, that's pretty extreme.
Speaker 2I never wanted my dick sucked that bad, ever.
Speaker 1I didn't even think I wanted it, sucked it night and night, I mean, I mean, it was just sex like sex in general was like we're not seeing porn, though yeah, yeah, we're saying porn.
Speaker 2I think my thing was more so like wanting to actually have sex like, actually like yeah, yeah, right. Like the, I thought that was the first step.
Speaker 1It definitely was the first step yeah, yeah, but uh, right, right, right, yeah, it's like accomplished. Yeah, get a hand job or something. Yeah, I did have.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, that was the thing, but yeah, either way, just that would be extreme as fuck.
Speaker 1Like to be, um, doing all that and for me, like I'm sure uh, but I can speak for every man that they were nervous the first time they had sex oh, yeah, yeah, no, definitely for sure but yeah, I, I wanted to have sex only because to get that stigma of being, if you was a virgin, he was lame oh yeah, that shit was going around.
Speaker 2Yeah, like every, every grade you go up. Yeah, it's like it's worse yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1But when I talked to q about it, because he went to a majority white high school, that was never a thing for them really yeah, so that was really a black high school thing wow yeah, exactly I thought that was every high school me too.
Speaker 1Nope, yeah, yeah, because I wanted, because I was like when I went in middle school, uh, I went because we grew up, uh, in the same area and that was never a thing for us, like we was very much being a child at our ages. But when I, uh, I went to spring, here was just williamson county, which is majority white um county, and going to moving to memphis shelby county schools, metro, natural or memphis city schools, but it was day and night, yeah, yeah, everything was, uh, you know, very highly provocative, sexual yeah yeah, sexual and things along those lines, so that was heightened.
Speaker 1But then when I moved back to nashville, going to a majority, uh, metro nashville public schools, it was that same way uh-huh, but it was just like sooner.
Speaker 2You think what? Um all that? No, I'm just saying it was.
Speaker 1I'm just saying it was going to, uh, majority black schools versus majority white. It's just different. Yeah, yeah to where, like having that stigma being a virgin. How it was uncool to be one yeah if you went to. That's not something that I even thought about.
Speaker 2That's crazy exactly I remember being in 10th grade and it just seemed like that lame thing that lame meter was just rising, that you started lying on your dick too. Yeah, I just remember being feeling like man, somebody gonna ask me, somebody gonna ask me, I didn't do nothing. I got a girlfriend and everything. I can't lie on her. She right here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody gonna ask me I didn't do nothing. Yeah, I got a girlfriend and everything. I can't lie on her.
Speaker 1She right here yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, yeah. So that then.
Speaker 3So that was just um yeah so so I don't even know how we got that on the kanye west thing I guess.
Speaker 1Oh, because of his age, went like so we all right, yeah, yeah, so there was no experimenting. We all knew.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, you know, that's gay no, for sure that that would be extra, like at that age and that time frame and his his era, yeah way worse than ours, and then not that I went to church growing up too.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah I mean. And definitely the era too is like the older you are, the more the church was more prevalent in your life.
Speaker 2The more prevalent and the being homosexual, all that type of shit Exactly.
Speaker 3Exactly, you're 100% right, way, way worse.
Speaker 1That's like you're 100% right, Way, way worse.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Especially the deeper in the hood you go. I'm sure this is not a thing. Yeah, I guess he just was like man, fuck it, I'm finna, just drop the bomb.
Teen Years and Social Pressure
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah yeah, we'll see. Yeah, I mean, but you had. I mean there was now that I look back on. Well, I knew it then it's not like I need to look back and reflect there were gay people in the neighborhood like that didn't come out, yet that very much did questionable shit. Like well, I saw this older gay kid. Well, he wasn't, I didn't know him to be gay at that moment, but he tried to see my dick when, I was younger, that was very like I.
Speaker 1I was like 10 and I was like yeah, no, yeah, I was like no, I was, it was. It was very weird. I'll tell the story. Um, I've told it on the last podcast, why not now? So it was. You know how people flash people trying to be funny. Uh-huh yeah yeah, and this one kid, he flashed everybody, like when he got in the house he pulled out his pants and everybody ew, yeah, yeah, yeah and.
Speaker 3I guess, he had liked it.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, liked it. Your turn who's next.
Speaker 1Yeah, so that's hilarious.
Speaker 3Y'all wanna play, right yeah.
Speaker 1So we. So he's a childhood. My dad and his uncle are best friends so he's like a family member so it's really not funny but that's hilarious so, and I'll wrap up real quick and so we go to back to my house and watch, watching a movie, and then he shuts the door and I'm like that's weird, whatever you know. I mean yeah, yeah, so I'm the bunk man, I'm watching spy kids or some shit 3d is fire yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1And then you know I'm sitting down. I have, like the covers over me you're the only person that's ever laughed at this, by the way yeah like so. So I have the covers over me and I feel like like like a tarantula on my leg. I'm like bruh if I reveal that there's a tarantula right here, I'm a scream for good yeah, like, yeah, you like you don't wanna look down and see the tarantula yeah so I feel it, and then it gets right here.
Speaker 1Then that zipper, I was like what do you do? It like now, it's not a tarantula, I'm like we doing you know? I don't know what the words were. But it was probably Something like I wanna see your dick, yeah, yeah, like. Of course that wasn't the words. We're kids. He's like he's my brother's age, so he's like Three and a half. Four years older than me, so so he's probably Kanye West's age At this time.
Speaker 3Yeah, exactly yeah, stage at this time, Exactly yeah.
Speaker 1And then he was like yeah, so-and-so. Yeah, so does Dick. I was like that's so-and-so.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1I said that's him. You know I am. Yeah, I was like nah what? The fuck yeah.
Speaker 2That's crazy.
Speaker 1And I forgot what happened. Then I remember telling you know, telling a family member, uh-huh, and it was like, oh, you should have beat his ass.
Speaker 2Yeah, I didn't know where this was going.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah but no, I was just saying like we know that's long story short to say you know what gay is? Yeah, oh, no, for sure, yeah, that was really kind of where I was going with it. Yeah, even at 9 10 I knew what gay was yeah, yeah, yeah and so yeah, yeah, uh. So, but you know some people, because he talked about the kind of west talked about, or yay, whatever, talked about addiction from porn uh uh, I'm just laughing at you who's next?
Speaker 2oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, the closing the door is crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1And so because you know the family member, we're all ages and I told I was. The thing about it which is the sad part, is like I was like kind of confessing Uh-huh, like bro, this happened to me.
Speaker 3You know, and know, and then it was like kind of joking, like you, you're, you're punk, you should have actually fought him, but my head was like bruh, yeah, I'm y'all bigger than me I ain't gonna win.
Speaker 1That you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah, that's y'all's age. You know what I mean. Right, I'm definitely going to get you know ran over yeah yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, oh.
Speaker 2So that was just like you were just trying to get somebody to hear you.
Speaker 1I think, when I look back on it, the feeling that I got from it was like me trying to like somebody, trying to say, hey, this happened to me, I got sexually assaulted and nobody wouldn't hear you Like I thought they were going to ride for me.
Speaker 2You know that moment, yeah yeah like I don't know if I wanted him to get his ass beat yeah but it was more like hey, this happened to me yeah, and they just like it just wasn't the reaction that you wanted.
Speaker 1Yeah yeah, yeah, like oh, you whole ass nigga. What's the reaction? That's not what they said. They didn't say you should have beat his ass. It was like, yeah, he's a teenager and I'm not.
Speaker 2Oh right, yeah, yeah, yeah, damn, yeah, but whatever I mean, it is what it is. Yeah, yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 1Yeah, so we're coming up.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh. So yeah, it's right on the money.
Speaker 1Exactly All right. Well, this was a good episode. Yeah, we got to chop it in real quick, but we'll be back. This is Two for the Culture. We love y'all.
Speaker 2All right peace.
